Congrats to my X-Men peeps! 2 years and over a 1000 posts later and we are heading into our 5th story arc!

RIP Stan Lee... You will forever be missed. As someone whose grown up reading Marvel comics, you've always have kind of been a part of my life. Thank you for making most of the Marvel heroes we know.

WIP I'm coming back after forever so clearing all of this seems like a good choice.

Just few basic things.

1. Left for my own sort of health reasons.
2. I ran a game for almost a decade when I stepped away from everything.
3. Currently working on getting an interest check up for the game I am going to hopefully be able to run.

Premise


Congratulations! You managed to get a copy of the new Nerve Gear game Sword Art Online. All over the world, gamers are logging on to join in the fun, and you don't want to miss out. Whether you are a newer gamer, or an older one, this game is set to promise an experience that you will never forget.



You connect into your Nerve Gear, excited about entering the world of Virtual Reality. There are what appear to be thousands of other players in the area. Some people were off to the side, gathering. A few of the NPCs at the shops were talking to players. You walk to the nearest shop, entering it and looking for the shopkeeper. A man with a kindly smile is behind the counter. Walking up to him you ask "What area is this?" He smiles at you and replies "This is the first floor of Aincrad. Welcome to the Town of Beginnings."



After wandering around for a few hours, you decide to Log off, but the button is missing. Where is it? You wonder, when suddenly you are teleported to the middle of Town. A man appears in the sky, and you realize that there are other players around.

"Welcome, the Log out button has vanished many of you might have noticed that. This isn't a mistake, it is meant to be that way. Several players have already died in the game. They however, will not be able to return. For the safety mode on your Nerve-Gears has been deactivated. So if you die in the game, you die in reality. The only way out is to clear the final boss on level 100 of the game. Hope you all enjoy yourselves." the man said, before he vanished from sight.

The players around you start to freak out. You yourself have no idea how this could be happening. What do you do?

This RP will involve your characters living in the world of Sword Art Online. I (BlueSky44) will be GMing it with the assistance of my friend, Morose. Your characters will have the opportunity to face the bosses on each floor, with the same stakes involved in the anime itself: your characters will and can die.

This will involve original characters and not focus on the characters in the anime. Think of this as a chance to tell your story in the video game. Not everything will be identical to the anime, but there should be plenty of similarities for any fan. This is your chance to experience the world of Sword Art Online.
Rules

1. This RP is high-casual, so expect a decent length
2. You need to post at least once every 7 days, otherwise your character may be killed off
3. No characters are safe—characters may be killed at any time (even mine!)
4. GM and Co-GM's word is law
5. No drama in the OOC, or you’ll be kicked out
6. Use decent spelling and grammar
7. You must use the provided character sheet
8. Characters need GM approval before they can be put in the IC (this isn’t first come first serve, quality characters first!)
9. You may have up to two characters
10. Romance is allowed, but keep it PG-13 (fade to black, essentially)
11. This RP is realistic, and there will be gore.
12. Must be two posts before you post again
13. Villains will be played by the GM and Co-GM
14. Each character will need a unique color coding. Color codes may be rejected if deemed not visible/legible.
15. Swearing is alright in the IC--limit it in the OOC.
16. Contact the GM or Co-GM if you are unable to post, and we can discuss options.

Location: Town Center
Interacting With: Everyone at the Meeting
The sheriff looked at the crowd of townsfolk surrounding him with their questions, and the few who were just waiting for his answers. A young man was standing right in front of him, his question was the first one Zachary heard.

“What are you going to do about the supernatural that's plaguing us?”

"The Reverend will be able to answer that question far better than I," Zachary said, gesturing vaguely towards Reverend Adder.

A reporter then caught his attention, his hand calmly shooting up. Unlike the rest of the mob acting like vultures fighting over a corpse, he seemed to possess some calm. The sheriff let out an internal sigh of relief, but he knew that he wouldn't be easy. This guy probably wants something for the paper, or maybe TV news network, he realized. "Does the town have a contingency plan, should all the events occurring turn out to be nothing major?"

"Currently, there is not a lot that we can do. We are working on restoring power so we need you all to be patient while we try to remedy the situation. Since we still have no true confirmation on what is going on here in town, so we ask that everyone be back in their homes by 7 pm every night just as a precaution. We do intend to enforce this curfew." he said to the reporter. "We are very fortunate that the hospital is running fine, and that no issues have arisen at the prison."

He looked into the crowd, avoiding a few questions from the nuttier people there. Each one was weirder than the last, and probably inspired by some B-list horror film. They were rather lucky they didn't have any corn fields to worry about, otherwise, he would have expected some of the kids to get wise and run off in there to play. He really didn't need to deal with Children of the Corn parodies.

"Was the mayor murdered by demons?"

"Is this town cursed?"

"Is it true that this town was built on an Indian burial ground?"

However, there was someone shambling forward behind the crowd, just beyond the press barricade. The figure looked familiar, his jaw dropped when he saw Vivian Adder walking towards everyone. Her body looked like it was falling apart, skin peeling off and huge boils appearing. Sure, he remembered seeing her with what seemed to be a bad case of acne--but nothing like this. There was only one appropriate response.

"What the fuck?!" he yelled, reaching for his gun.
Mitsukuri Katsumi
Location: Town Center
Interacting With: Vivian Adder (DEMON!!!!!) @Morose
The Town Meeting had turned into frightened and inane questions, with nothing useful coming out of it for her. She started walking away from the crowd, only to pause as someone who didn't belong arrived. Clearly someone didn't keep an eye on the clock. They showed up late to the party I guess. She started walking towards the figure, but she saw what it truly looked like, and she tensed up. It wasn't normal, to say the least.

Most would have fixated on the peeling skin, on the large, erupting boils, on the extreme burns. It was certainly something that caught the eye, with muscle tendons and bones being there for all to see. A different detail, however, caught Katsumi's eye. Her eyes were black, empty depths.

Demon Possession, huh? Looks like an exorcism is in order, Katsumi realized, grimacing a bit. It wasn't an ideal situation. She preferred to handle these type of matters away from people--away from innocents. But it couldn't have been avoided. As far as she was aware, this demon was about to blow the town off of the map.

It was time to get busy.

Pulling out a small vial of holy water and an iron knife, weaponry designed for demon fighting, she started towards the demon, the crowd behind her started to freak out at the sight of the girl. She heard people shouting out, something along the lines of The Reverend's Daughter.

"Dōkō-kai o torimodoshimasu!" Katsumi commanded, opening the vile and expertly flinging some of the holy water towards Vivian. It missed, falling flat in front of her. Katsumi tossed the vile aside, grabbing yet another one. She always made sure to carry a good deal on her.

"Don't film this!" Katsumi shouted, rolling her eyes at the press crew, as she tossed more holy water towards the demon. "Get the hell out of here! It's a demon! Anata wa shinitaidesu ka?" The water fell short again, and Katsumi bit down on her lip fiercely.

Today was just not her day.

Hey people, I'm going to drop off a note here after seeing some of the posts in the IC.

Morose isn't the person controlling the Sheriff. The Sheriff is Zachary Carpenter and I'm the one controlling him.

In the IC if you mention someone in your post, please make sure that you are mentioning the right person. Morose and I just collaborated on that post since it was easier that just having two separate ones.

Zachary Carpenter

Zach watched, startled at what he saw. Her skin had suddenly changed right in front of him, and for a split second, he had thought that her eyes had turned black. He took a step backwards, but immediately regained his composure. He looked into her eyes, then looked away again. Her skin was strange, and was covered in blisters. Something strange is going on, and he didn't like that feeling. Her face was normal, but her skin was still all wrong.

"Sheriff, something the matter?" Vivian asked, walking her fingers up his chest. "You can trust me, Zachary... I'd never lie to you."

She was starting to creep him out, and he backed away again.

"Um, Ms. Adder, I have to leave, the meeting starts in a few minutes, and I have to be there. You might want to go see a doctor though and skip the meeting. I don't have anything for you to do right now anyway." he said to her, walking away and past a few officers.

He grabbed his car keys, even though he was going to walk, he never felt right without the sound of his keys in his pocket. The meeting was about to start, and he had to run it. Hopefully he would be the first one there so he could set things up. When he thought about it, he quickly left the station and ran towards the center. A few townsfolk were there already, but he could use a hand. Once everything was set up for the meeting, all he had to do was wait for everyone to show up.


Mitsukuri Katsumi

Interacting with: Liam Matthews, Sutton Smith


"So what's your story kid? I haven't seen you around before. I'm guessing you're from Japan?" the waitress asked her.

She looked up at her, and decided to try being nice to her. She didn't have any friends in this town, might as well try.

"Yes, I am. My family wouldn't really let me out of their sight, so I ran away on my own. I couldn't stand the stereotypes that existed in my hometown. Women were expected to stay home and take care of the family, and I did not want to live like that. When I came to America, I could not speak English, so my first year here I spent learning the language. I have not spoken to my family in 2 years, and with all that has been going on, maybe I should. Well, thanks for the coffee," she said as she pulled out her wallet and paid for it.

The meeting was going to begin, soon, and she wanted to go to it. The whole reason she came to America was to try and stop these strange beings. At the meeting she might learn something useful about them. Hopefully I can learn something useful. She walked out the café, and walked towards the Town Center. There wasn't anything else she could do but wait.

She wandered away from the others, they were by the edge of the ship, and started to wonder about the other trainers on the ship. They were all over the place, and she wondered what Pokémon they had. In a few moments, she wandered in front of another trainer.

“Aha! A challenger! Since you stepped in front of me, we HAVE to face off! You’ll be my third victory today…" a voice said, and she turned towards the voice.

Looking around, she realized that the trainer was talking to her, and she saw the white line on the ground. Is this always what battle areas look like or something? she thought looking back up at the challenger. Arren smiled, and yelled back to him.

"I wouldn't be so cocky if I were you," she said, reaching for her Pokeball," I accept you challenge!"

This won't be too bad. Worst that could happen is that I lose, but if I win I can show this guy a thing or two. No one should be that cocky, especially if their a trainer just starting out.

He parked his car outside of the station. He had no idea what was going to happen, his job was usually pretty boring, except now everyone was going to be panicking. He entered the station and greeted the other officers in the room. They all looked at him, hoping to get some sort of cue. There wasn't much he could do, their all staring at me, he thought. He walked over to the front of the room.

"Alright everyone, our main goal for at least today is to try and keep everyone from going crazy. The phone lines are probably going to be ringing off the hook, so keep an eye on that," he said to them, and walked over to his office.

He hadn't been in his office long, when an officer walked in, saying something about a fugitive getting caught by the Reverend's daughter. He rolled his eyes, the guy who had come running was a newbie, he didn't know that this was a regular occurrence. He walked out to the front desk and she was there, shoving a guy towards him.

"Brian Lennox," she said to him, "I'm here to collect."

He walked over to a nearby filing cabinet, with problems with the power, they had to have hard copies of everything. He pulled out a file, and compared the picture to the man that's standing before him. They were an exact match.

"Alright then, this is an interesting start to the day. I personally expected nothing but panicked phone calls. Well Ms. Adder, nice job on that one," he says to her as he pulls out the money reward on the fugitive, "There you go, it should all be there. Thank you for your help."

He walks over to the newbie, and smiles at him. "Don't worry kid, you get used to it," he said.


Mitsukuri Katsumi

She walked into the restaurant and was greeted by a young woman in a waitress outfit.

"Can I get some coffee started for you, miss?" the woman asked her.

Katsumi was startled, no one had every called her miss before, it was strange. She accidently started to reply in her native language.

"Hai, onegai," she started to say, before catching herself. "I am sorry for that, no one usually says things like that to me. I was trying to say yes, I would like a cu of coffee please."

Not long after she said this, the only other customer in the restaurant, started holding his head a little. Well, that is strange, wonder if he is American since they are strange people after all. She watched him for a moment, and started to go over to him, when he suddenly stopped.

"I uh, I'm sorry, just thought I saw something and got a fright." he said as he was rubbing his head.

Katsumi knew better than this, she had seen strange things, but she also knew how to respect people. She was very curious, but decided not to pry into it, especially if it was something personal. She thought about his voice for a second, well he isn't American, but I can't place where that accent is from. There was no sense dwelling on it, she turned back to the waitress, "I would like that cup of coffee now please."

She was surprised when Holly just appeared out of nowhere, and the device in her hand was weird. Arren watched as she handed Holly her Pokeball, and the device started spinning. When she got it back, she looked at it. What type of device was that? Can it really heal Pokémon that quickly? There wasn't much time to think about it or ask questions, since Holly immediately left after healing everyone's Pokémon. She's a little weird if you ask me. She waved to the sailors as they left, maybe we'll see them again someday, and turned towards the other two.

She still wasn't very happy with Vuduin, but at least he apologized for it, she could move past that. Now a question came into her mind and wouldn't leave, what was she going to do now? There was at least a few hours until the dinner, and she didn't want to miss it.

I could catch Pokémon, explore the ship, or maybe just train Poochyena a little bit. Well, I don't really want to try and catch any Pokémon until Poochyena is a little higher level. I think I'm going to train him a little bit before I run off to catch Pokémon.

"Hey, I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to go train my Poochyena for a little bit. If you want to join me you can, if not I guess I'll see you at dinner," she said to them, and started walking away.

Wonder what Pokémon I'll encounter first? I'm just curious as to how this will play out. Training is going to be a lot of work, but I know that Poochyena and I will be fine,she thought to herself as she wandered out onto the main deck.
