If you're roleplaying with your only friends, you're roleplaying with your best friends.

I think to sell someone on an interest check, it's really important to seem enthusiastic about your own idea. That means writing more than a single sentence to attract potential players.

Did you know that Dante's inferno is called a divine comedy because things work out for the protagonist? Back in the day, the only two genres were comedy and drama. The only difference was that in a comedy, the protagonist is better off at the end, and a drama is the opposite. So that's why a story about going through hell can still be considered a comedy, even if it's not funny.

Name:
Broken Promise, BP, Boss

Age:
Old enough to know better, too young to care. (that is to say 30's)

Preferred RPs:
I Prefer to make my own, but will occasionally join something if it looks interesting. I'll join just about anything so long as it isn’t overly edgy/sweet, though it's rare for me to do. I don't do 1x1s too often either.

Preferred Roles:
I tend to play adorable characters everyone wants to befriend or proper assholes everyone wants to stay away from. I try not to play moral paragons or prime evils.

RP Conquests:
I've completed quite a few RP's off site, but most of them are on private forums or have simply been lost to the ravages of server crashes. As for stuff here, I'm sure everyone who sees me post in the off topic sections has seen me find an excuse to talk about Danganronpa: Tower of Carnage. It's a project that took over 4 years to complete and I feel pride not only for myself but all the wonderful people who helped make it enjoyable during its run. Re: Zero: The High Council Is technically my first, but it was just something I kind of took over and ended up ending the story after just six months. It finished, but eh...

Last RP I finished was Symphony of Espers which turned out pretty good.

RP's in progress:
For some reason I can't seem to stay away from Ari's magical girl RP, even if I'm not sure why I'm still in it.

As for my own projects, I'm doing Symphony on High to continue the gigachad adventures of the espers in Pax Septimus.

RP Graveyard:
I've been pretty fortunate on this forum. I think I joined one when I first came on the site that didn't really do anything, and there are a few 1x1 things that didn't go anywhere. It's disappointing when an RP ends before it can be finished, but I've come to look at them as learning experiences.

And then there's that london magical girl RP, and that dark magical girl RP. I think I'm done joining magical girl RPs for a while.

Other interests:
Videos
I watch a lot of educational videos on youtube. Usually as research for something I’m writing or purely because a topic interests me. I like channels like Tier Zoo and Daryl Talks Games, and I’ll also watch things like Critical Drinker or Literature Devil to deepen my understanding of story telling. Though I also like memes and jokes, to which I’ll find myself watching stuff like Sseth, but usually find myself surfing through meme videos. I gotta work on that.

Games
I have a rather long history of playing virtually every platformer to come into existence during the indie boom, as well as quite a few other indie games. I’ve played Meatboy, Binding of Issac, Gunvolt, Cuphead, Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt, Classic Metroid, Warcraft 3, Final Fantasy 7,8, and 14, Left 4 Dead, Shantae, Celeste, Danganronpa, God Eater, the list goes on. What I’ve played is kind of all over the place. I don’t play many games these days, I tend to pick things that look interesting and go on a decent steam sale.

Painting Minis
I do this in moderation. Otherwise, it's a pretty expensive hobby to start...

Music
I listen to everything, save most country/rap songs. I have too many favorites to name.

Personality:
Not one to take life or the internet too seriously. Is only serious about writing well and having a good time.

People to Insult:
Dalton is a Dingus.

I think young people like to give themselves labels. It starts in school, where we split up between jocks, brainiacs, tomboys, or whatever other group we chose to join. We do this because such labels make us feel like we're part of something bigger, and it stops us from embarrassing ourselves doing something that we're not good at. "I'm a brainiac, I don't do sports!" or "I'm a boy, I don't play with dolls!" So there's some isolation there were these people (usually kids) join a label to opt out of things they aren't good at, or are too scared to try. As we get older though, we tend to drop such labels... usually.

I think mental disorders are no different. I think people like giving their weaknesses names because it makes them feel less exclusive, and also means that there's nothing they can do about it. Someone who says "I have ADD" or any of it's variants chooses to take a pill to solve their problem instead of making an effort to pay more attention. I remember being told by a grown man "I think I have ADD, because I really don't like to listen to other people." That's a possibility, but you could also just be an ass hole.

I'd like to stress that I do believe mental illnesses exist, I just don't think they are as wide spread as people make them out to be. For some it's just a crutch for people who don't want to overcome their problem.

I also strongly disagree with role playing being dangerous because of it being a strong form of "escapism." I do not want to trade places with most of my characters on my worst days. My job is also in retail, so I have pretty good people skills. Could it be dangerous? Possibly. Isn't everything dangerous in excess? Yes.

I think forums themselves are a form of escapism. writing whatever you want under the veil of anonymity. I can be a cute school girl or a big beefy muscle man, and nobody can say otherwise. I think that's more dangerous than play by post roleplaying, because I'm escaping directly in front of real people.
yea, they hot linked from a site that doesn't allow hot linking.

They just need to move the images onto an image sharing site.
@Super Duper Affinity
I am not planning on posting. I'm having too much fun with my tentacle harem at the moment. My only complaint is that they have no respect for your personal space.
People think MY eyes are strange, but at least I keep them open. How are you suppose to teach astronomy with your eyes closed, or is it really that easy?

EDIT: I got ghosted by a witch! Why do they change my classes so much! i'm not a bad kid! WAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Are you a bot from the dungeons&dragons board, son?
There was a lot going on. Hana practically had to cross her eyes to absorb everything. The appearance of more magical girls only made her view that more interesting to watch. Hana was smiling. There was destruction, yes. There were lives at stake, yes. But there was also something oddly appealing about it all, and it drew Hana right in. The school girl hadn't had this much fun in a long time. Perhaps it was that same excitement, paired with everything else going on, that made her unable to notice the tentacles rushing towards her. It wasn't until one wrapped around her ankle that she took notice.

“Gah!”

Hana did not understand why the Negari had chosen to attack her. She wasn't the closest target, nor was she a threat. But trying to figure out what the Negari's motives were fell to the wayside as Hana focused on not becoming lunch. She held onto the fence with a white knuckle grip as the monster attempted to pull her off the roof. But that was just the first tendril of many. Several more slender appendages homed in on Hana's legs. They coiled around her knees and thighs, pulling in unison. Hana wasn't even able to see what was going on at this point. Her body was entirely horizontal and the only thing in her vision was a single galvanized pipe that belonged to the roof fencing. Hana was a strong woman, and even beat boys her own age at arm wrestling. But even she knew this was just buying herself time. More tentacles came for her, wrapping around her waist and shoulders. They took turns anchoring to her so that the other tendrils could get a better grip on the school girl. Hana could feel her grip weakening. All of her joints felt like they were on fire due to all the tugging incurred by the monster. She wanted to adjust her hands, but Hana knew the monster would take advantage of such an opening. The school girl was starting to sweat, and that only served to make her grip weaker still. But among the creeping sensations, the game of tug of war, and all the pain, Hana managed to see a bird. It did not look like a native bird. It looked a bit like a parrot. Perhaps it escaped a pet store, or did it escape its home with all the chaos going on? Hana didn't have long to wonder about the parrot. A few seconds later, she saw the bird moving away from her. Not because it was flying away, but because her hands had finally slipped off the fence.

She screamed.

Hana could feel the wind rushing past her as she plummeted. The school girl's decent slowed as more tentacles sprawled out to cocoon her body. It seemed like the creature needed its victims alive for some reason. Hana continued to resist the monster, but there was only so much you could accomplish by flailing in mid air. With her entire body covered, the tentacles started to work their way up her neck. Hana rolled her head around, but it didn't stop the hundreds of appendages from sliding all over her body. How humiliating, she thought. Not only was going to be eaten by a monster, but it was going to get captured on camera.
AKA: the REAL clone wars.
Maybe the amount of detail you put into the act of killing and its impact shows the maturity of the player and of the game.

Not necessarily. Sometimes I think the most effective method for showing how detached a character is from the world or the people they kill is by not making it particularly gruesome. I remember someone called me a twisted bastard OOC just because one of my characters derived pleasure out of eating sweets and watching two friends fight. Of course, it needs to be a mindfully made decision. if all of your characters behave the same way when someone dies, you (by you I mean anyone) may have to rethink how you do things.

I also feel that the act of killing, like the bearing of sins, becomes easier as it is repeated. You could become tormented for weeks after taking your first life, but taking your thousandth won't feel like anything.

I don't think I've ever seen rape done well in RPs. It never feels like it suits the character, and is just kind of there for shock value. Rapists tend to feel like they've lost control of their lives, so they use rape as a tool to get some of that control back. The only exception is if you're some kind of serial rapist, at which point you probably aren't even a fully functioning human being anyway. Torture is also very trait specific, but not as much as rape. There has to be a lot of hate or a complete lack of empathy. Of course if anyone can think of other reasons for people to commit these acts, I'm all ears. And no, "She's hot" doesn't count.

1) Put tentacle in a blender.

2) send blender into space.

3) Time it so that the blender activates in space.

4) ????????????????

5) Worship the tentacle god you created.
