I think to sell someone on an interest check, it's really important to seem enthusiastic about your own idea. That means writing more than a single sentence to attract potential players.

Did you know that Dante's inferno is called a divine comedy because things work out for the protagonist? Back in the day, the only two genres were comedy and drama. The only difference was that in a comedy, the protagonist is better off at the end, and a drama is the opposite. So that's why a story about going through hell can still be considered a comedy, even if it's not funny.

Name:
Broken Promise, BP, Boss

Age:
Old enough to know better, too young to care. (that is to say 30's)

Preferred RPs:
I Prefer to make my own, but will occasionally join something if it looks interesting. I'll join just about anything so long as it isn’t overly edgy/sweet, though it's rare for me to do. I don't do 1x1s too often either.

Preferred Roles:
I tend to play adorable characters everyone wants to befriend or proper assholes everyone wants to stay away from. I try not to play moral paragons or prime evils.

RP Conquests:
I've completed quite a few RP's off site, but most of them are on private forums or have simply been lost to the ravages of server crashes. As for stuff here, I'm sure everyone who sees me post in the off topic sections has seen me find an excuse to talk about Danganronpa: Tower of Carnage. It's a project that took over 4 years to complete and I feel pride not only for myself but all the wonderful people who helped make it enjoyable during its run. Re: Zero: The High Council Is technically my first, but it was just something I kind of took over and ended up ending the story after just six months. It finished, but eh...

Last RP I finished was Symphony of Espers which turned out pretty good.

RP's in progress:
For some reason I can't seem to stay away from Ari's magical girl RP, even if I'm not sure why I'm still in it.

As for my own projects, I'm doing Symphony on High to continue the gigachad adventures of the espers in Pax Septimus.

RP Graveyard:
I've been pretty fortunate on this forum. I think I joined one when I first came on the site that didn't really do anything, and there are a few 1x1 things that didn't go anywhere. It's disappointing when an RP ends before it can be finished, but I've come to look at them as learning experiences.

And then there's that london magical girl RP, and that dark magical girl RP. I think I'm done joining magical girl RPs for a while.

Other interests:
Videos
I watch a lot of educational videos on youtube. Usually as research for something I’m writing or purely because a topic interests me. I like channels like Tier Zoo and Daryl Talks Games, and I’ll also watch things like Critical Drinker or Literature Devil to deepen my understanding of story telling. Though I also like memes and jokes, to which I’ll find myself watching stuff like Sseth, but usually find myself surfing through meme videos. I gotta work on that.

Games
I have a rather long history of playing virtually every platformer to come into existence during the indie boom, as well as quite a few other indie games. I’ve played Meatboy, Binding of Issac, Gunvolt, Cuphead, Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt, Classic Metroid, Warcraft 3, Final Fantasy 7,8, and 14, Left 4 Dead, Shantae, Celeste, Danganronpa, God Eater, the list goes on. What I’ve played is kind of all over the place. I don’t play many games these days, I tend to pick things that look interesting and go on a decent steam sale.

Painting Minis
I do this in moderation. Otherwise, it's a pretty expensive hobby to start...

Music
I listen to everything, save most country/rap songs. I have too many favorites to name.

Personality:
Not one to take life or the internet too seriously. Is only serious about writing well and having a good time.

People to Insult:
Dalton is a Dingus.

"Time to rock out with your cock out!" *Uses melody to summon a rooster*

— Mika Fang

So this was it, the big joint operation.

It was unfortunate that Himiko wouldn’t be joining them. Actually, no, that wasn’t what made it unfortunate. Mika was pretty sure that she hadn’t enjoyed a single interaction with that depraved esper. Her nature was what made her unfortunate. Part of Mika wanted to believe that seeing all the factions working together might change her mind about things, but that wasn’t how Himiko operated. She was someone who stole from children and secretly plotted the downfall of the very organizations that paid her. Mika was a fool to try and save her back at the cathedral, but she had felt like enough lives had been lost that day. But empathy was a weakness. Ashley had taken pity on the ‘old hag’ and gave her a position in the organization she wished to destroy. Mika sighed. She had nothing in common with Himiko, but she was a lot more like Ashley than she had originally thought.

Mika considered changing her loadout before going on their next big mission. She considered several options, even reviewed her arcane magic, before deciding that she had exactly what they needed to succeed. She shut the door behind herself as she left the armory.

The day before the operation was scheduled to go off, a certain bikini clad, trench coat clad woman snuck into the Golden Trove. It was a very, very, very high end hotel that catered only to Pax Septimus’s most elite visitors. A single day could cost you millions of dollars if you wanted to rest in the most luxurious of rooms with the fanciest of options. It was the sort of place where people who asked how much something cost were shown the door. Only the most beautiful, busty, and attentive maids were allowed near the rooms, and a chef that had no less than three michelin stars was always available to cook at all hours of the day.

That was to say that the dirty, partially naked woman crawling around the first floor was stopped immediately.

”Excuse me.” The clerk said, not trying to hide his snobbish tone. ”But you do not appear to be a guest here. Might I suggest that you go back outside?” But she didn’t go back outside. She practically jumped over the counter and rammed the USB stick into the computer. ”Hey!” She slung her leg over the counter and kicked him across the face, dropping him instantly. Then she kneeled on the counter and punched in a few numbers on the keyboard. After typing in the activation code and seeing the light flash, she yanked it out. Moments later, security showed up, and they promptly chased her outside.

”...Owwwwwww.” The clerk slowly stood up. Afterwards, he pulled up a phone and called his boss.
Some…Bitch just kicked me in the face and installed something on my computer. Can you get the tech guys down here to scrub this thing?”

But it would be too little, too late. An advanced cyber security firm would take weeks, if not months to fully untangle the assortment of redundant and protective systems that had been unloaded onto the computer. Already, the virus had silently spread to every computer on the network, giving Marrie complete access to the system. She could see their billing information and had complete access to the surveillance system. There would not be enough time to remove the virus before the operation.

Among the files of interest that Marrie was able to recover was a guest registry. It all looked fairly normal until she saw the guest staying at room 1408:

XVIII Morning Dragon Fruit.

None of the rooms had surveillance on the inside, but it did look like they had found the location of the target. Since Marrie didn’t gain access to any “magical AI computer,” it did seem like the target was not hooked up to the internet.

Finally, the day had come.

Roughly halfway between a police station and an underground parking garage was another Micromart. There was nothing special about it other than the vast parking area was a good place for GEMINI and Maverick Alternative to meet up.

Everyone was in attendance. On one side, Fritzi, Binky, Mika, and the rest of Gemini stood with their backs to some armored transports. On the other side, Billy, Luna, Trixy, Stacy Stitches, Amanda, and the rest of Maverick Alternative stood with their backs to Boteg.

Somewhere between the two were the freelancers. There weren’t a lot. Not just anyone could be trusted with an operation like this, and there was no room for potential traitors. This was big operation that could bring the hand to it’s knees or serve them Pax on a silver platter. The roulette wheel was spinning, and the factions were going all in.

They were still waiting for a few people to show up. There was time to get a word in before the final briefing.

Depraved might have been a severe description for what Himiko was. On the surface, her belief in equality for all was in line with Maverick Alternative’s ambitions. But even they weren't interested in a vision like Himiko’s. She was naive and idealistic at best, or a warmonger at worst. Surely she realized the factions were a result of a divide among espers, rather than constructs made to entrap them in some twisted game.

Himiko’s cell was not exactly comfortable. She was held in what was a slightly more comfortable version of solitary confinement. She had a bed with a metal frame, a small table for eating meals, a sink, and a toilet. Everything was made out of metal and bolted into reinforced concrete. A single fluorescent light lit the space. Perhaps it was mercy for the other inmates that they put her in a cell where she couldn’t talk to anyone else. With the operation at hand, Fritzi had other things to concern herself with than another mad esper.

Himiko’s cell was eerily quiet. The only sound that came into the space was the dull sound of muted talking from the door, and the rumble of the central air unit moving air through a one inch wide vent at the top of the cell.
@Terry Bogard Roleplaying forums are weird melting pots where people with all sorts of interests come together. When I think of niche fighting games, I think of stuff like Sango Fighters, Body Blows, ClayFighter, or Melty Blood if you want something that shows my age less. Really any poverty fighter.

The only fighting game forums I was on were SRK, Holy Zen, and a Melty Blood forum I can't remember the name of. SRK was fine for the most part but there was always drama going on. I can see egos flaring, but there were even people selling arcade parts taking pot shots and smearing mud on each other. You could also "dislike" posts, which seems a little antagonistic. The Melty Blood forum was just a little tiny circle of friends that I joined up with, but they wanted to remove that atmosphere and be more like Melty Bread where it was all serious and they only talked about the games. Well, Melty Bread was already offering that, and they had a lot more engagement than some little nothing forum. So once they stomped out everything that didn't have to do with the game, they had no community and the forum died. I did get to know a few people but have since lost their contact info. Holy Zen was the worst. To be fair, I was quite new to forums at the time and a few members knew exactly how to have fun with someone like that. but it wasn't just me, the Admin (the guy who wrote the guilty gear parody comic) decided to shut the forum down because it was such a disaster. But yes, most of my experiences have been negative. I mostly chalk that up to the competitive nature of fighting game players. I'm glad there are communities out there where that's not the case.

I am rather enthusiastic about fighting games, even if I don't play them too much anymore. My avatar/sig combo features the priest from DFO in fact. But I'm more of an original setting roleplayer that lets themselves get dragged by their friends into other RPs. Most of which have to do with magical girls, though I was in a fighting game themed RP for a bit. I tend to not play as canon characters often because I have an unrealistically strong fear that someone will say I'm acting out of character. I'd rather make something that's my own and have it be judged for how interesting it is.

I'm not sure how you feel about hosting an RP, but I've had good luck making my own. Otherwise, 1x1 takes all sorts. It can just be a little hit or miss. But there are more of us out here, they just don't visit the welcome forum much.

”Tempted to switch from goth to emo.”

— Suki Oyama

Oros did her best to be attentive to what Nyxia was saying, even though it was probably going to be mean spirited. It wasn't hard, as Rei and her chatterbox had left, as well as the new light girl. Though between the blood loss and everything else, she was having a little bit of trouble keeping her focus.

”Boss Baby?” It was possible she showed up to help Oros, but she hadn't noticed her. But that didn't seem right. Why would Nyxia assume that Oros couldn't kill five miseria with Rainbow's help? She revealed it, briefly, in recounting what happened to her. It seemed that Nyxia had needed help defeating them as well. Oros felt her chest swell with pride when Nyxia mentioned that she was now talking to her. Clearly things were looking up for the purple skinned girl. But this was followed by snide comments. Yes, yes it seemed like tonight hadn't quite gone the way Nyxia wanted. To even suggest that being beat up like this was something she could enjoy...

The stump of her wrist oozed blood. It wasn't often Oros got cut up like this fighting miseria, but she had done battle with several magical girls. Often as the fight wore on, they would get more exhausted and tired, but Oros would only become emboldened as she was worn down. Her moniker, "The Joyful," was a nickname she had earned a time she had become much more badly damaged than this. But now was not the time to recount that tale.

”I mean, I don't like getting hurt.” Maybe it was from how unfocused she felt, but she couldn't tell if Nyxia was trying to offend her or actually believed someone could enjoy getting hurt like this. For some reason, an image of a gothic bad boy who worshiped Norse gods and engaged in macho sadism forced its way into her head. She blinked the repulsive image out of existence. ”But pain is inevitable, isn't it? If you're living, you're going to get hurt. It's something you need to be prepared for.” Oros expected to get hurt when she fought. She got her when she didn't fight. Pain was something Oros had forced herself to become accustom to. ”I don't even like hurting magical girls. It's a good thing I don't have to.”

If Oros thought she could get away with it, she might have asked for a kiss. She could collectively recover her health and seal her limbs back together. While it seemed perfectly logical, she knew only one person would take her up on the offer, and she had too much pride to allow herself to accept it.

Without another word, she turned around and departed for home. First she'd drop Rainbow off at home, then she'd limp her way back to her own bed. Usually Oros was an early riser, but she would sleep in that night.
...from a fairly niche fighting game series, King of Fighters.

I think you just offended every Mexican arcade game player ever.

Jokes aside, welcome to the forum! You seem like a cool dude and not nearly as toxic as the ones I typically find on fighting game forums. I'm sure you'll find something that caters to your interests here. If not, you know what they say: If you build it, they will come!

If only that was posted in the next topic over...

“Rei Ishiko will now take your questions.”

— Rei Ishiko

After being called out by Evil Eye, Willow looked away from the group and started whistling. With Rei in attendance, there was no reason to say anything else.

”The detention club is only made up of dark girls because they are usually more interesting. We have a simple rule structure, and nothing forbids us from taking you in.” Her eyes ran over Unstoppable Doom, but since they were keeping to themselves, there was no reason to address them further. Not now, at least.

Shatterscape was being rather vocal tonight. While she could have been talking to Evil Eye or Hizuki, it didn’t really matter. The intent was to address her shameful behavior. ”There is no reason to feel ashamed, Shatterscape. In the days of samurai, they believed that getting drunk allowed a kami to take over your body. Nobody could be tried for damages they caused while under the influence. Perhaps it was a Kami that took over your body tonight?” It didn’t seem like a big deal. Light girls and dark girls shouldn’t feel the need to apologize for attacking each other. No one was killed, so there was no problem. Maybe Rei would take this more seriously if she expected Medusa’s Mirror to be more effective, but Evil Eye was playing games, and tempers were bound to flare.

Speaking of, Evil Eye was the only one in attendance to address Rei directly. ”Have I ever forced you to fight something that was beyond your abilities?” The answer was no, Rei barely told anyone to do anything. Even tonight’s hunt was something she offered to do only because Earthshaker begged her to appear before the club. Be careful what you wish for. ”This giga miseria is recurring. It would show up once a month if I did not set out to vanquish it beforehand. Perhaps you’d like to try taking it on yourself, but it will be a while before I let you attempt it again.” She folded her arms behind her back. ”Because you'd need help defeating it, and you don’t like asking anyone for help.” Her eyes scanned the Detention Club. ”We have nine members now. Eleven if you count the Royal Navy. We’re short one for a new team. Perhaps the existing teams need to be shaken up?” Rei was done taking questions. She set off to stroll into the night. ”Earthshaker, Evil Eye, I’ll have a word with you in the morning.” She said without looking at them.

”Called it!” Willow chuckled to herself. Then an extremely dark realization hit her and she turned to run after Rei. ”S-Shinimori still works fine, right?”

”...And?”

— Suki Oyama

Oros had underestimated the severity of Rainbow’s wounds. Once it was apparent that she was in crippling pain, she heaved her onto her back and walked her back to the group with everyone else.

There wasn’t much for her to add. It was a little disappointing to hear that this entire outing had just been a way for Boss Baby to affirm her place above the rulekeeper. But it had been Oros the Joyful who had arranged to carry on with these meetings. Even if what had set Boss Baby off was Bedshaker’s choice to take everyone out of town, it was something she had indirectly set in motion and directly participated in. Nothing to do about it now.

As for Hizuki’s involvement in the club, what was there to say? Oros had yet to really talk to her, but she wasn’t too excited about the prospect. Cyborgs had never been her thing, and it looked like Roach was already trying to expand her harem. That was fine though. If Haruna managed to avoid Roach’s clutches for long enough, things would be alright.

It didn’t seem like Boss Baby was going to feed them tonight, so it was probably best to get Rainbow home and detransform as soon as possible. But before she departed, she took a look at her companions. For how aggressive these Miseria were, it seemed like most of them had taken hardly any damage. The only exception was *Nyxia, who looked like she had a close encounter with a demon barber.

*Roach does not count as a companion.

”Are you okay, Nyxia?” She shambled a little closer. Her severed limbs floated around in the mass of blood she was using to hold Rainbow in place. ”Those guys were tough, huh? I only managed to kill five of them. But I needed Rainbow’s help.”

”I’m just glad Rei isn’t dating any other girls! I might have a yandere moment otherwise…”

— Willow

Willow only had a moment to cheer on her partner before she moved on to take on the miseria hoard herself. ”Damn, she is so incredibly cool when she transforms that it just wraps around and makes her HOT!” Willow was probably the only member of the detention club that didn’t feel unsettled when Rei transformed. That was probably the only reason she had the position she did, but it wasn’t like Rei ever explained her choices to anyone. Rei wasn’t exactly a social butterfly and her having a partner at all seemed a little silly. She didn’t need one, and beyond tolerating Willow’s shenanigans, she never seemed like she was as interested in Willow as Willow was in her.

The cat girl floated to the ground among the gathered magical girls, first fixing her eyes on Shatterscape. ”Yea! You ought to be sorry! I can’t believe you didn’t end her with your big, sharp, fingers!” She pouted. ”I had to witness that awful display with Rei touching that light girl’s thigh and back.” She pointed at Hisuki with a trembling finger. ”You hussie! I can see your bedroom eyes sparkling! If you keep going after Rei I’m gonna have to...” She sighed and looked to Evil Eye. ”I mean you and I will both be out of a partner, so we’ll have options. just not good ones...”

”I don’t want to be horny, I want to be happy.”

— Suki Oyama

Between the blood loss and the pain, Oros found it hard to read too far into Acid Drop’s smile. It looked weird and uncomfortable, but it was a smile. Oros found herself returning the gesture and her eyes squinted shut when she was praised. ”Well, if you insist.” She reached for her severed hand and arm with her bloody tendrils. Once they were in her grasp, she used the hand to pat Acid Drop’s head.

As fun as it was to lay around, the club was probably going to do something soon. After standing back up (and helping Acid Drop do the same) she started to walk back to join the others.

“I’m sorry, Earthshaker, your dommy mommy is in another castle.”

— Rei Ishiko

Schrade examined Earthshaker like one might look at an insect. She did not dignify the rule keeper’s quip with a response, nor would she wait for her to fully regain her composure.

”A picture is worth a thousand words, and sometimes actions are worth even more.” She turned away from Earthshaker. ”Let’s get everyone back together.”

The trek back was not long, but neither magical girl was running. The first girl they saw was Nyxia, who was still visibly agitated. Schrade waved for her to fall in line with her wounded ally. That probably wasn’t the best way to get the authority hating magical girl to do anything, but at this point Schrade didn’t really care. Not much later, they would join up with Oros the Joyful and Acid Drop. They were taking their time getting to their destination, but Schrade just gave them a nod as she passed. Oros redubled her efforts to move swiftly and kept pace with her leader, not letting Acid Drop lag behind. Eventually, both halves of the detention Club were united.

“It’s been a while since we’ve all been together like this. It was an interesting night.” Schrade eyed her comrades with a stern eye. “But I do not make a habit of wasting my time. I had something very simple to tell all of you.” She folded her arms. “I’ve been telling you not to worry about Ashbringer because I am stronger than she is. Is this not proof enough?” She looked at everyone present. “That is why I consider the arrival of the GEMS so bothersome. Unlike Ashbringer, I would surely kill one of them were we to fight, even if I held back. That goes against our rules, as Rule Keeper surely knows. And speaking of bothersome…” Schrade walked closer to Daybreak, but her magical form melted away and Rei stood in her place. The chilling fear that was gripping everyone’s heart subsided. “You seem to be quite hard to keep down, and are far more useful than your GEM counterparts. You are one of us now.”
There are people who post stuff like that in the gallery. Otherwise, there's probably better platforms to post on. Places like Wattpad are pretty friendly for posting WIP stuff with gradual updates.
@ReksewTrebla I don't think there's a set way in which people acquire Co-GMs. It's simply a way of giving a few trusted players some light GM privileges like editing the zeroth post. My guess is longstanding friends are prime candidates for a Co-GM position if such a thing is desired.
@ReksewTrebla

#1: You don't need an image for your character. That said, if you simply must play a character that looks like you, you could always take a picture of yourself and run some artistic effects over it in a paint program or (heaven forbid) use AI to generate something. More roleplays use art then don't, but I've yet to see someone get rejected for not having artwork of their character.

#2: This is basically not going to work for group roleplays, as the worlds are often far too detailed to just accept a character that was made in a vacuum. The only exception to that would be if you made your character for a specific fandom or board game that gets played on the guild a lot. But even in those situations, you'd fit in a lot better if you knew the RP specific lore. 1x1 RPs tend to be more purpose built for both players, with the caveat being you need to actually find someone who wants to play with your character.

I have seen people advertise their characters in the past, but as a GM myself, I would never recruit a player this way.

If you're determined to do that though, I think you'd have better luck putting your character in a 1x1 interest check than joining a group game.
