Are Medusa's body hairs actually just tiny snakes?

Bio

I'm a sucker for romance, sci fi, fantasy and just about any modern city with a twist like monster hunting or super powers. Been writing for years, I didn't learn how to read till I was 12 so the moment I got the hang of it, I could not stop. Filling journals with stories one after the other, my younger sister eventually got me into role playing and it created a monster. I will play with you all day if you reply, post for post and will give you as much detail as I can.

"I believe its time for us to part ways." It was late, and she could feel the dull ache due to her lack of sleep. Reaching out Raven handed Reaper the creation, bowing her head in thanks as she turned. Her boots on the concrete telling her all she need as she began to walk. "If you ever need me, just listen for the steps of four."
Her book in hand she felt it rise before her, hand reaching to feel the worn pages. "Its hooves of thunder shall carry another. Under the guise for eyes that have not yet seen, it shall punish those, who have yet to bleed." A bray of a horse whispering about the room, before her appeared what most would say was a simple motorcycle. Not a single design, with it's body painted in black.
Yet those who for some reason or another, offered blood on the walls of their home would see something else entirely. A horse, far larger than any creature here, it's head missing and in place wispy smoke trails. It's body donned in dull, intricate armour. Listing to the hoof beats Aurora climbed onto the beast. "Take me home."

It was a quiet night, one that was perfect for a ride. The air cooling, crisp even, under the winds created from the speed in which they went. Listing to the sounds of busy streets of down town Aurora began to feel it as a welcome noise. It was so quite in the abandoned banks, far too quiet for her liking, the sounds of passing cars and angry voices, though not her liking, was far more pleasant.
She only began to pay attention again when the sound of crunching gravel entered her ears. The beast snorted, easing it's way to the gate she punched in the code and rode in.

That night she found herself in a stall, farthest from the door, coated in ribbons of brilliant colours and glory. The name "Beauty in Shadow" glistened in the pale light. a single eye looking right at her, knowingly, the animal's coat so dark that it seemed to a void in the stall. "Hey Loki" her voice that of a whisper she gained a nicker in return. The sound of a stall opening echoed through her barn as she entered. Laying down in the sweet smelling straw with her back to the wall.
She told him everything that night, enjoying the pleasant company, a soft nose in her hair, a gentle nuzzle and comforting words in a different language. It was all she needed as she decided to sleep there that night.

----

"Come on Aurora! Reach farther!"

The sound of thundering hooves, the smell of sand clogging her nose as her muscles screamed. It was another day, her blood pumping, Aurora found herself in the arena. The stallion she spent the night with, now beneath her as the woman clung to the leather saddle. Her body arched, allowing it to fall like a doll and reach for the ground. Her object of interest, a cloth of some kind, just out of reach.

Another failure, but she still could not deny the fun she was having. She loved feeling the muscle of the horse beneath her. The breath bursting through the air as she counted each stride he gave. nine, eleven, thirteen, again she reached for the cloth that laid undisturbed in the centre of the arena, and again she missed. Loki being larger than most horses used in the sport she found herself a bit too high up.

She could hear her father shouting at her because of her fourth failure. The man wanted his only child to be a trick rider like himself. And while she was more than happy with being able to learn, even picking up the trade alongside her own. He would not let up on her, it was easily one of the more dangerous sports in the family, one wrong move and she could be killed.

Loki galloping across the arena she tried again, falling from the saddle she barley kept on with her feet. The beast was so well trained that only a few months of learning and he was already done with trying to throw her. Adrenaline rushed through her body as sand kicked up at her face. Her fingers grasping the fabric she pulled herself up with the beast still charging forward, a smile from ear to ear as she held it up. Standing in the saddle for a victory lap. The stride her mount made still being counted in her head.

They were passing the left wing of the Arena when she heard the sound of a machine of some kind burst to life. It was a normal thing, construction was always here to make sure the stable was up and running in the city streets. Yet it was not even a blink when she felt Loki spook, his rider standing on his back with the roar of the engine only feet from him proving too much. It was like a earthquake, throwing her through the air she reached out to try and soften her fall only to land over the arena wall into the gravel on the other side.

Air knocked from her lungs she bounced from the gravel. Rolling slightly, she felt her back hit something, her helmet cracking on whatever it was that stopped her travels
"I'm fine, I'm fine!" She could already hear worried voice and hands grabbing her arms as she forced herself to stand. Grooms trying to grab her horse as he charged through the sands as though he were going to battle. 'Damn it..." Gravel in her hands, white hair now a dull grey and face scratched from the impact, the woman spat on the ground. "Loki stand."
It was like a switch, the animal on the other side of the wall sat on his haunched. Dust kicked up everywhere from the force put into it. A cloud engulfing Aurora as she clicked her tongue waiting and counting each hoof beat that made it's way to her. The sound of iron on wood indicating he put his head over the wall in apology. "Lets try this again shall we?"
Moving over she waved off the workers near her. "Its okay, sorry to bother you guys." She had a limp, yet it was her pride that was hurt the most.

@Sol Grim

Looking at the fallen chopper James found himself thinking the sight was..well kinda cool. It was like an old movie, yet he couldn't just go and act like his old classmates, he would actually like to survive another day of this.
It happened way too fast, he could hear Azazel screech for a moment. Attention taken for only a second the kid didn't stand a chance against the men that pinned him. His blood was so cold, his heart pounded almost painfully against his chest. What were they gonna do? What was going on?

Looking over to see the barrel of a gun he found his breath stopping in a sound of fear. Eyes wide he actually felt tears stinging them for a second. "Come one man, please, you don't have to do this! I swear I won't tell anyone anything!" Yet the words fell on deaf ears as he heard the familiar snap that Reena had done right before a kill. "Come on please!!"
This was it, this was as far as he was gonna go. If he decided to go with Reena, would he have lasted a little longer? "Mom" it was a pathetically tiny whisper of a whimper. yet they were his last words, he left his mother for dead, he deserved this.

His heart couldn't have given another beat when he heard the string of gun fire race over his skull. His body tensing up he kept himself as close as he could to the ground, his face back in the dirt to hide till it was all over. Yet as he waited for death, nothing came, only a gentle breeze.
Shakily he began to move, eyes meeting with the gaze of some guy who looked late for a meeting. Eyes cold as though he were beyond done with everything.
His legs unsteady James stumbled a bit, he's never been that close to death. The shock leaving him he bent over and threw up, kid didn't even have a chance of holding in his breakfast. The stress of everything was starting to get to him, and if he didn't toughen up soon he was not going to last.

"Shelter? Why? Are there more of these guys?" Worry in his voice he looked back at the corpses. Roach and Azazel thrashing a bit he began speed walking to the animals. "Easy guys, come on, its over." His moves slow he grabbed the halters under their bridal, reaching to rub a small spot on their neck as he shushed them down. "Don't worry, your gonna be okay boy."
He was not as fond of humans, but horses and mules? He was quick to baby them. The look in their eyes was something that he gained a soft spot for and in turn he was actually pretty good with them.
"There's a few houses, lets see here..Guess closest place is Jake's place, hes kinds of a junk guy. he's closer than the barn back home though."
He was worried of course, the dead, the dead gapping maws and grabbing hands. They were here? "How did they get here?"
They couldn't stay at the barn, they might have to leave to higher ground, under ground, an island. Something, anything, but if they were coming they had to get out. "What about the others? We left the girls back at the barn."

Just as she got the bolt in Reena heard the click of a pistol, Johnny having David in his sights she was about to slide backwards with her load only to find that her team mate was taken out by another member. "Johnny!" It was all she could say when she felt a hand grab her hair, slamming her away as he grabbed the gun that slid on the floor. "Don't worry sweet heart, I'll make sure to treat you just like old times."

Head still spinning she stumbled for her crossbow. Hands grabbing hold of the life line only to see David pointing the same weapon at her partner.
Adrenalin pumping through her veins she let loose the arrow. A life for a life, she realized she couldn't do anything else as she watched the man's body collapse like a cheap puppet. Spitting out some blood on the floor she kept her head down as red droplets splattered the ground, yep, that was her nose.
"You aright?" She was panting and in way too much pain. Still she went over to the body, grabbing the arrow and pulling it out with a sicking sound. "Crap, this was my ex, his dad knows me."
She had no idea he would do this, she had no idea that David would come here at all. "fuck, why did he do this! What gotten into him!? I mean, yeah he was an ass hole but he would never try to kill anyone!" She was grabbing her hair, getting it out of her face only to pull at it in frustration.
Bitting her lip she began to work, grabbing the gun and shooting David in the head. "Can't let them know that a crossbow done it. Lead his dad straight to me." She was shaking slightly as she held out the weapon, shes never killed anyone before, least not a living human being. "Come on, your right, its time to go."
She couldn't help but laugh at the comment from Jacque. The look on Elysia's face all the more worth it when she turned to see the woman having a coughing fit and hitting her chest to calm herself once more. "Easy their my friend. I worry, one that makes jokes like that will find himself in a situation that could end in a world of hurt."

Still she couldn't help but notice the uneasiness in the smaller woman. Even when Roland began to speak of the tale of his weapon. One that Reema listened to with undivided attention. A small smile appearing on her features when she heard the fondness of his memories. Such an interesting idea of arguments, she could picture it. Whoever the two that helped Roland get his weapon seem to be the best to have started him. Kind people who did not take themselves too seriously but knew when to work together when needed.
"The heart will stay the same, you know, I might have to do that. I don't think I could bring myself to part with the beast that caused me to start hunting."

Yet before she could even finish her words Roland was gone. Gathering his weapon and rushing to his room like a child who was in trouble. "I fear I may have said too much..." It was a new place with new rules. They all came from different places, did she do something wrong? Shrugging her shoulders she sighed. Can't dwell on it for too long, after all it would only breed ill thoughts.

Instead she stood, stretching her lips as her back began to crack. One, two, only to start sounding like a small drum for a few moments. "Guess they caused me to lock up. I'll be working if anyone needs me," Patting Jacque on the shoulder as she left she opened the door to her room. Rummaging through her bag to find a leather bound folder. Untie the threads to open it's secrets it began to show intricate designs of monsters.
Grazing, mother's with their young, beats in flight or heads bobbing through the ocean waves. Every new thing she saw on a hunt she would document on paper with nothing but a bit of charcoal.
And so, brining out a slightly torn blank sheet she cleaned off the desk, bringing to work.
Yeah, Shifter is perfect for beating the crap out of Aurora. Her Wraith is her main combat summon yet the thing won't attack animals. (Was doing more research to find dos and don’ts.)

So pretty much, Scarlet Shifter has immunity to Aurora's current, most powerful summons.
Listening to the conversations around the lap top, Aurora found her ears following a pair of footsteps. Light, yet steady, Reaper? Clicking her tongue lightly she nodded, yeah, it was Reaper, taller, back straight it seems, or some kind of stronger posture than most. Once again she began to think of the advantages and disadvantages for going after Walker.

Kaite, if she used Kaite than it would have far better results than going after Scarlet. If she went after the shifter than she would have to use the Grim, sadly the Grim was used more for tracking than for combat. Yes, Walker is the safer choice for her to go after due to her abilities. If a fight were to break out she could at least have a chance.
"Umbra's mark." Being pulled from her thoughts Aurora turned her head at the sound. Her own mask kept her eyes hidden, pools of what many said to be a faint glow like blue. Something shifting in Reaper's hand, Aurora reached out. Fingers carefully brushing over what felt almost metallic in a way. The coolness of such material being absent, light but heavy, it was such a strange thing to hold. Something that she may never figure out fully.
"Thank you" her hands were already running over the object. "This is indeed more than helpful." She wasn't lying, the figure was coming to life in her mind. Lines, like the marks one would make in a prison. Slightly leaned but extremely fine, six vertical, one horizontal. Least they wouldn't get a count mixed for it, he made it easier for someone to find the thing.

Standing to listen as everyone began to figure out who went after who, Aurora kept thinking as she continued to run her hands over the creation. She wanted to make sure not to forget it. "My summon that is most suitable for combat works better when hunting a male. She travels short distances by vanishing and reappearing if she wishes, something like a wall? If its thin enough she would keep after him till our separation starts to cause me damage."
So many were going after walker though. Was she right in doing the same? Or was there another way to go after Shifter? "Lets see, I could use the same summon on Shifter. So long as she stays a human, that name of hers is making me think that's not the case." The Wraith that stayed by her side all these years never went after animals. Humans being it's only target for it's own reasons. "If shes anything but human than the Grim would be the next best thing, even than he's used for tracking."

So many ideas, so many choices. Yet each one comes at a price. The Risk of Katie leaving her is always there. It was never a pleasant thing to be too far away from the Wraith as she tugged your soul with her. But than there is the idea that Shifter could easily over power the Grim.
Tapping her cane to the floor she held the creation in her hand. Her thumb running over the surface once more she rose her head. To some it seemed like she looked right at them, yet her gaze never truly rested on any of the vigilantes around her.
Something changed in the air, head turning to Rose's direction she could not help but notice something changed. Uneasiness, what was wrong with her? She came here with an air of confidence, yet it was gone. A flick of the switch that had to have been caused by something. What was it?
"You know, as much as I appreciate the posturing and all, before we get into plans I'd like to know who I'm working with. Hopefully without any more of this bickering. I'm sure some of you have done your research and all, but I've got no clue who half of you are." She could feel her eye lids opening slightly yet she was quick to close them once more. "Sorry, but I can't afford to give out that knowledge." One false move and she could loose her competing line, others would think she had a unfair advantage if they knew she had abilities.
Yet she found her putting her lips in a tight line for a moment when Ditch decided to introduce everyone. Well that had been a interesting way to get around it all.

The sound of a bag unzipping she began to listen. The click of a lap top and tapping keys. Of course, its a damn screen. Gods she hates that about screens, can't really learn much from a normal lap top. “Umbra’s mark. He carves it into the foreheads of his victims" biting her lip in annoyance she sighed. She was going to have to ask Ditch what that mark felt like.
Scarlet and Wall Walker, interesting names. Though she couldn't help but remember hearing about them before. New maybe? Probably the news, one almost caught, another injured. And they needed to find them? A hunt?
Now that was something she could do. A hunt, nothing that the Grim couldn't find so long as he had a link. If there was enough and they were stubborn enough they might be able to find one of them before Umbra gets them. "Where is the last place Wall Walker was seen?" She loved a challenge, and this was probably going to be one of the most difficult so far.

"So, all we have to do is find them? This is going to be interesting."

<Snipped quote by Blaine Crommet>

Haha meant as banter :], keep em' coming man.

Thats it, gonna just give Levi names in different languages to see how long it will take for him to figure it out. Aurora will actually look everything up XD
Waiting on knight
One day we might even get angry glow stick to be civil. We would be like Yu Yu Hakusho!

Till than, Aurora is just gonna listen so she knows everyone's voices perfectly. But hey least Rose, Tank and TB are being chill about the entire thing. Well, Rose is, Tank is kinda crazy XD
