No but really I'm jealous, goddammit. Sigh. All my dog does nowadays is lay around sleeping and eating. Love him to death, but sometimes you just need a spritely feline around. Kudos to you for the happy fortune.

I've been considering adopting a point system for trials that don't end in character death, where characters who accomplish their goal or are more successful or efficient in their attempt are rewarded a higher number of points than those who fared worse. Characters with higher point totals could be given small advantages in later trials. It'd be another way to encourage allying with or siding against other characters, to either team up with the current leader or conspire against them. But that idea is still on the drawing table.

It would sure help make the game more of a roller coaster if players aren't hit with a death after every trial, I think. But a point system like this sounds interesting, I'd be up for playing around with this if you end up choosing to go with it. The "small advantages" bit in particular would be pretty fun if it worked out.

Ah, I can already start imagining what this game is going to be like based on all of that, @Atrophy. Super ready for this game to wreck me (in the best way). Here's to more people hopping on the bandwagon!

Here's my little spittle, if you're interested…

As a GM, I tend to prefer smaller group games myself. It's a helluva lot easier to keep track of all the players/characters and the secret information you give out, which is paramount in something like this. I had run a game similar to this in that the outcomes of the situations I threw them in were mostly character driven. I had a cast of five, which was enough to keep me busy all night typing up and sending PMs to each of them.

As for the trials, I'll just say that you never know how the players/characters will react to what you give them, so it's good to have lots of leeway on the plot end. In the aforementioned Bliss-game, my cast threw me plenty of curveballs, so rolling with the punches was a big thing for me. And it generally kept it all more entertaining, since it was sort of like I was playing along with them because I'd have to adapt to what they wrote, too.
