Barbie: a provocative piece that shows the disparity in gender roles in today's society using the representation and marketing schemes of children's toys as a medium. Oppenheimer: bomb bad ☢️ 👎

Odin Ivarsson

Seeing the bandit climb up the latter to meet him, Odin gritted his teeth as he knocked another arrow. Because of the uneven footing, however, Odin once again messed up his shot, the arrow zipping right next to the bandit's shoulder. Grumbling to himself in annoyance, Odin made made his way to center himself on the roof more, in case the bandit had the idea of trying to kick him off. While doing so, he drew his hunting knife, eyeing the bandit carefully for any sudden movements. At the very least, he has Ana to thank for weakening him. All Odin had to do was finish the job...

Odin grumbled silently to himself as he watched the scene unfold. The bandits had detected them before they could successfully ambush them. On the bright side, at least, they were able to nearly take out their driver, the cloaked bandit on one of the horses. Whether or not he was a person of authority or just the one in charge of driving the carts mattered little to Odin, who knocked a blunt-tipped arrow and took aim. Seeing as his positioning was poor, Odin shuffled slightly to the side, letting the arrow loose prematurely. Incidentally, his attack had missed. Cursing to himself, Odin decided to instead call out to his allies in hopes that they would follow his lead.

"The one on the horse! Knock him out!" Odin called, his hand hovering over his quivers as he began to decide on his next target.

"The bandits out here are opportunistic scoundrels. A trading post in the middle of nowhere is easy pickings for the likes of 'em, especially since it means they won't have to deal with any sort of resistance. At least it's good we got here in time."

Odin's hunch was correct. The ranger knew they would be dealing with bandits as soon as they had crossed that palisade... though, admittedly, he did not account for having this much time to prepare, or a place to set up some sort of ambush. Indeed, this could be the perfect opportunity to prove to at least some of the denizens of the River Kingdoms that his bow is now dedicated to the protection of the people. And even then, it gives the group the perfect opportunity to build some rapport. In any case, helping Oleg and Svetlana out of their bind was out of the question to Odin. Odin walked up to the bearded merchant with his hand out.

"Name's Odin. We'll help you two out, of course, but first we'll need your help as well. The best way to deal with these bandits is making sure they don't know we're here and catching them off-guard. That means we'll need you to tell us of any hiding places, nooks and crannies we can hide ourselves in so we could get the jump on these thugs." After giving Oleg's hand a shake, Odin turned to the rest of his companions, taking his backpack off and holding it by one of its straps. Looking for a small nook to tuck it into, Odin stashes his pack somewhere safe and hidden before preparing his quivers.

"That means we'll need to coordinate ourselves, as well. I'm thinking based on the time we have and the size of this post, we should make a death trap for these brigands. Whoever's the quietest should be by the doors so we could lock the bandits in. It'd be better for us if they were unable to call for help or escape. I'll find some place to snipe 'em down..." Odin then turned to Rosie, thinking that if she recognized these bandits, then she'd be able to help identify who the biggest threat may be. "You said you recognized some of 'em, right? Which one of them do you think I try and take out first? I've got some blunt arrows in case you want me to knock any of 'em out, in case you wanted to... have a word with 'em."

Odin grumbled to himself as he overheard the group's musings, either out of annoyance or to repeat his own thoughts to himself. Trailing behind the party, the frontiersman had elected to stay at the rear in order to ensure everyone else's safety. It was a proper place for him to be, as well, given that he wasn't the type of person to talk too much. In the past, Odin would have been one of the loudest of his allies, but times have since changed. Gone were the days of him aimlessly looting whoever stepped on his patch of grass with other ne'er-do-wells, men he once considered brothers. Instead, Odin was cursed to wander alone for a time, with a new path ahead of him, and with a new purpose in mind. Peeking ahead at the crude fencing which marked their entrance into the Greenbelt, Odin had decided to finally speak up for once.

"Almost there... keep your eyes and ears open," the ranger remarked, catching up a bit more to the rest of the group, "just 'cause we see some gating doesn't mean we should expect some hospitality. The Riverfolk aren't known for their generosity. Once we pass that border, we'll be heading into untamed territory. Let's stick more closely together and watch each other's backs."

Whether it was for fame, wealth, or perhaps an escape, everyone in the party had their own reason to venture forth into these lawless lands, and Odin was no exception. With Erastil's guidance, Odin had hoped that he would be able to guide and protect his allies as they establish themselves within the Stolen Lands. To traverse into such wild lands without some sort of guidance would be a fool's errand, and Odin was no stranger to that fact. Instead, the ranger had hoped that his adherents to the Old Ways would prove well to protect his allies in whatever ambitions they wished to seek out.

On second thought, things have come up and I don't think I'll be able to participate. Good luck, everyone!

EDIT:
Maybe I'll stick around after all~
@Parallel Hearts

I might be considering changing apps if we get another Ruler. I have a Lancer in tow that might help our team composition better, if that is fine.
