Dex crept up from her spot in the stairwell using a desk as cover. When she heard the very distinct metallic noises of a grenade bouncing down the stairwell she froze then without another thought to react she dove behind one of the cubicles closest to her, knowing the desk would do little for cover. The first grenade exploded scattering shrapnel in every direction; it tore through the thin fabricated walls tearing into Dex’s shields. Without waiting she dashed back to the stairwell where Drono had been smart enough to duck for cover. The second explosion knocked her into the stairwell face first. She cleared a few steps then landed hard rolling to a stop by Drono’s feet. The wind thoroughly knocked out of her. The third grenade went off followed by stomping boots.
Her ears rang while getting knocked around left her dazed. She pushed up from the floor grunting irritably. “
They didn’t appreciate me sabotaging their security.”
She reached for her rifle then manually rebooted her shields; they took a nasty hit sitting at 65% functionality.
Making eye contact with Drono, adrenaline pumping fire into her veins, “
Before you ask, I'm fine. They want to play with grenades, so now it's our turn. Let's fuck them up." She pulled off one of the infernos she had on her hip holding it up for him to see.
