Seeing actual bushfire footage looks straight out of Hell... It moves so quickly and so powerfully, literally the trees just ignite. You firefighters are absolute legends, but please, don't die.

Welcome to my little personal den of Hell! Sorry, sorry, I meant my personal profile. Same thing, right?
I'm a roleplayer, same as any around here. I've been doing it for about five years now, coming up to six in September. Its been quite the time, thinking back. I started out fresh as can be, understanding the basics of writing but never quite knowing how to become better, or become as great as those around me. In the end, I did the only thing I really knew at the time:
Write as much garbage as possible and hope for the best!
As you can see, that particular tactic fucking failed. Jokes aside, I like to think I've developed a lot over the years, both as a writer and as a person. However, absolutely nothing can dissuade my weeaboo ways and supporting my OTP with all that I can freaking muster! If you haven't already guessed, said OTP is Chrom x Robin (Chrobin) from Fire Emblem: Awakening. Highly recommend the game, there's a reason (other than nintendo's cheapskate attitude) that it hasn't dropped in price, it's honestly the best place to start off in the series. And hey, maybe you'll end up addicted like me and want to buy every game on the 3DS like a fucking loony?
Speaking of loonies, the Fire Emblem Chrobin Comic Dub Project has recently finished, so for those of you who also appreciate the best ship in existence, I highly recommend it. Hell, even if you're not interested in that, I do highly recommend watching it for those into fantasy love stories. The quality improves drastically with each episode, so trust me when I say by the end of it you should be thoroughly impressed. It has helped motivate me in ways I can hardly describe with words, and so I thought the least I could do was put this out there. Maybe it's not for everyone, but I know it was the perfect thing for me.
"Do you think you can tip any of the scales in here?" "Chrom, for the love of Naga, I'm thinking..."
"So I heard."
"There are better places to take a nap than on the ground, you know."
There is a universe. No-one knows it's name, where gravity wasn't strong enough to bind matter together and no stars formed. And because no stars formed, no stars exploded. And because no stars exploded, no planets came about. And because no planets came about, there was no life.
There's another universe, no one knows it's name, where gravity was strong enough and did light the stars and planets came about and boy, they were gorgeous, planets in perpetual winter, planets in perpetual summer, planets that could rival the Garden of Eden and no bloody snakes! And on one of them, eventually, complex life evolved and one of the species developed large brains learned things like manners and dabbing, when they looked up at the stars and wonder what they were doing here. You called them octopuses, I suppose. Gosh, they were clever, for octopuses, and one of them, several million years in, almost wrote something in ink on the seafloor, a message to its friend. And the message almost read: "Hi! How are you?" And a few millennia later, space folder back on itself and, you get the idea. Goodbye Octopi.
There's another universe, where life formed on every planet, in every solar system, and it was carbon-based, it was silicon based, it was made of crystals and water and plasma, it was made of quantum fields and light, and everything was alive, everything was doing a boogie, and it was everybody's birthday, everyday, relatively, and everyone got presents, and they had over a trillion languages, some written down, some only spoken, some conducted telepathically, and they bought a galactic civilization together, as a perfect unity, sharing stories, sharing technology, speaking a common tongue, understanding everything about how the cosmos been put together. And finally, when everything was sorted, the galaxies were arranged into perfect geometric formations, transmitting pure love, and wisdom, and birthday greetings to all species in the universe, for all time. Papercuts never happened, coke came in glass bottles, no one even remembered the word for war, everything was beautiful and nothing hurt.
And yet, for a quirk in their evolution, because resources weren't scarce enough on the planets these species developed on, not a single creature in the universe was conscious. Food was eaten and no-one enjoyed it. Movies were released, and there was no laughing, or crying. No-one chuckled at a joke. Ever. Space collapsed back on itself, eventually, and there hadn't been a single moment of sentience in the entire history of creation.
There's another universe, where the strong force is too strong the weak force is too weak and nothing forms. Another, where life develops too late when the Stars have all gone beyond the light boundary and there's nothing to even see. Another with too many dimensions. Another with not enough. Another where time goes in the opposite direction, and species begin as gods, and wind backwards to cells, and never learn to survive. Another that only lasts milliseconds, and collapses in on itself, and heads straight back to oblivion. And that's how it just might be, across all possible universes, across all possible space times. Problems with the laws of nature, not enough resources, missteps in evolution. An atlas of dead-ends.
Then again, there is one exception.
There's another universe, a big one, where life is rare, where intelligent life is very rare indeed, the stars are very distant from each other, the laws of nature are very complex, it's extremely lonely for any species developing, and most never even develop at all, but somewhere, we believe, is a planet where the oceans are vast, and the climate is varied. Where the smartest species on the planet may have developed just the right mix of ambition and kindness. And if you were to travel there, to this unbelievably rare statistical anomaly, to this impossibly lucky planet, where evolution, biology, chemistry, nae, the laws of physics themselves have come together to create sentient intelligent life, you may be able to catch the native inhabitants singing for joy. Of what an impossibly lucky, and rare position they find themselves in. It is a chant of gratitude, a ritual of showing appreciation for ending up in perhaps the one universe, in the one solar system, on the one planet with all the basic ingredients for intelligent, conscious life.
@Delta44 well I have to do what I can to advertise :P
and yes a female would be lovely, we have a lot of dudes, and I think we would welcome another beautiful lady to to the mix! maybe a more happy extroverted character would add some nice variation and yeah in the later 20s would be cool too!
Alright, thanks! I was really having trouble deciding between the 4 or 5 characters I wanted to make, but this narrows it down to 1 almost perfectly. I'll have an app up in about 6 hours or so.
@Dynamo Frokane Ooh, I do like the look of this! But I'd like to know beforehand: are there any character traits that you'd like me to take into consideration before making an app? What I mean by this is if you're low on male characters and need a male, and vice-versa, or someone of a specific age group? It'd help me with the creation progress greatly. Thanks!
(Also, you caught my attention by putting Mayuri Shirasagi in the interest thread you sly dog you :P )
After hearing rest, the high elf collapsed on the ground. Creating so many shields for everyone drained him, even if he was a high elf, facing against a archangel's attacks is nothing if almost impossible to block against. "I'm sorry, milady, but I'm drained of energy, I can't even stand anymore..."
Everyone else was tired, but nothing they couldn't handle, the orc and the gnoll went hunting briefly, finding a large elk roaming the areas while the rest made a fire and rested around it. The high elf had fallen asleep minutes after he had spoken. Even if they were the best the Human Kingdom had to offer, it doesn't mean they weren't affected by exhaustion, hunger or anything like that.
Maryvale began organizing sleep schedules for everyone but the elf and Anna... if that was her name, which was already making a number of things confusing. Maryvale herself wasn't all that affected by exhaustion. Although it didn't heal her stamina, the fact that she didn't need to waste energy on healing her physical state was certainly a plus for her. As a result, she also got less tired, and as such put her own night shift down for the longest time, during the middle of the night.
Feeling inquisitive, she calls the rookie over for some information. Once there, she tells him to take a seat with her, not accepting him to stand, short of a broken tail bone. Then, she tells him what she wants.
"I'd like you to get to know Anna -- the child, whatever her name is -- a little better. She seems to trust you the most and I feel if I questioned her I'd scare her half to death. Also, I don't want..." She mutters something under her breath, in a voice so quiet it's barely audible save for the word "cry", but she immediately shakes her head. "Never mind. Just get to know her more, and give her a sense of security. Something tells me she may be more useful than she looks. When it's lights out for everyone, give me a report on what you've learned. Any questions?"
Bio: Before anything, Vivianne is a Shrine Maiden. She always has and, from her perspective, always will be. A tender to the god's temples, Vivianne grew up a shrine maiden, and has devoted her life to the service. Ever since she was young she has been fond of the priestesses and their ability to bless those around them with their power, hence why Vivianne has always wanted to become one, too.
However, there's a sharp contrast between desire and truth...
She was always mature for her age, or so people tell her, and even now she upholds the position of upperclassman with a level of maturity that far outranks even some of the current hunters and huntresses. Perhaps this was the reason she did so well in both her studies as a shrine maiden and as a student at Beacon academy. Regardless, Vivianne lived a peaceful life as a shrine maiden in-the-making with her family, up until her twelfth birthday, where Durandal was passed down to her. At first the blade scared her, and to this day it still does at times, however she learnt to better control it -- to tame it -- over the course of the next few years. Her mother and father trained her in its use, so Vivianne could continue the legacy of the family and it's sacred weapon.
Everything was going well for the next few years, up until she reached her fifteenth birthday: the day she was old enough to attempt to evoke her semblance. Unfortunately for Vivianne, this would soon become the worst birthday of her life. So much so she would curse herself out for years to come because of it.
It was the third of June - a day usually accompanied with happiness and cheer was soon enveloped in depression and grief ever since she lost control of her semblance three years ago. The Gaia family, also known for handing down the great blade Durandal, were also known for their skilled works as hunters and huntresses, namely due to their impressive semblances. Why were they so impressive? Because all of their semblance were living creatures.
Of course, each member of the family would be granted a different animal, though they wouldn't always awaken to it thanks to favouring other lifestyles. However, Vivianne was "gifted" with possibly the strongest semblance in the family: the dragon. At first things were going well, but once the dragon took over, there was no stopping the destruction and pure carnage that ensued. Vivianne had lost control, and during that brief time, the shrines had been destroyed, and her family... killed.
Upon her recovery, she had people she once knew as friends calling her out as a demon, and her right to become a shrine maiden had been revoked. Fearing that they may even kill her, Vivianne fled and wandered the streets of the city for a whole year, often going for long periods of time fasting and not eating simply because she couldn't get anything edible. It was here, on the streets, that she came across a semblance suppressant drug - the key to locking away all her problems. Of course, she brought a great number of them (though it certainly wasn't cheap - she had to pull a few favours that she wasn't proud of), and took the drug in healthy amounts, though there were some terrible side effects...
Towards the end of the year, Vivianne was about ready to die until she was found by a hunter of Beacon Academy. He took her there and allowed her to recover her strength. The hunter questioned Vivianne about her blade, Durandal, and she replied that it was something handed down to her in hopes she could become a huntress. He then asked her if she actually wanted to become a huntress, and Vivianne told him it was all she had, now. And so, at the beginning of term, she took the test to see if she was capable of becoming a huntress.
Needless to say, she failed pretty hard. She wasn't an excellent fighter back then, and wasn't all that smart in the subject of being a huntress. Thankfully, the hunter took her under his wing and she began to train...
Her mature attitude, strong will and determination made learning a synch. In fact, in half a year, the hunter had already given her some of the more advanced stuff in what would've been her year group, and she was doing pretty damn good. Her physical abilities had also improved a lot, although she didn't look it. So, now halfway through the first year, Vivianne took the test again...
... and absolutely aced it. She received top marks in the academic tests and her athletic abilities were just as good. And so, Vivianne was finally accepted into Beacon.
She might've only had half a year as a student in Beacon for the first year, but during which she completely blew everyone away with her abilities. She trained so hard that she could fight without using her semblance, and always came top of the class. Of course, this was more or less a front to hide the fact that she wasn't as perfect as others made her out to be. She was still taking the drugs to suppress her semblance and kept her past hidden away by making herself unapproachable - untouchable. She created a barrier of superiority so that nobody would question how or why, just be amazed at who she was.
And now she's beginning her last year at Beacon; an upperclassman at the top of her game, she wishes to graduate Beacon Academy a fully-fledged huntress, perhaps the first to never use a semblance.
Weapon: Durandal - a sacred blade passed down the generations and modified to fit today's weapons, Durandal is a powerful blade that excels in what it does. That is, destroying things. The polar opposite to Vivianne, this blade is destructive and violent on a tremendous level. Transforming it turns the blade into an anti-tank rifle capable of piercing just about everything. The downside of this weapon is that it's extremely hard to control, like it has a mind of its own, as Vivianne put it, and it's second form is incredibly hard to find ammunition for, hence it gets sparse use.
Semblance/Special Ability: Balance Break - an ability of dangerous power that Vivianne has sealed away within herself. She wishes nothing more to do with this power and has vowed to herself to never use it. What it does is it overwhelms the user's limitations in return for their senses, as they allow a creature to take over their body. Vivianne's is a dragon. They're capable of becoming stronger than even the greatest of grimm, but the user loses all control in the process, hence why Vivianne has devoted all her time to self-control ever since "the incident". She has taken action to suppress this power by whatever means necessary.
Equipment: Durandal, x5 Mega Dust Rounds, shrine maiden clothing, semblance suppressants, magenta pendant
"In order to help in time, we need to have retrieved Dark Stalker within the week. I believe that is something we can do, however considering we've already spent a day and a half retrieving Anna, so we can't afford to waste too much time..." Maryvale pauses and surveys the group. "... However, we can't continue as we are. You all look like you've been pressed rather far in terms of your endurance. As such, for tonight, we'll make camp."
"That would be Darkstalker." he says. "Though, it's in the hands of Midnight the Eternal, death's right hand man, so fighting it will be like fighting Sssalivan, except that Midnight can summon hordes of undead." the high elf says to her. "Though we have Anna, maybe one of us could use her to defeat Midnight and get Darkstalker, the strongest the universal weapons."
"Don't worry about Anna, I'll take care of her!" the young knight said. "Don't worry, Anna, I'll protect you from all the monsters out there." he said to Anna, who only proceeded to only hold onto his arm even tighter.
"Anna is the reason we can proceed. I don't plan on disobeying the Grand Marshal's orders; if we can at least locate Midnight and Dark Stalker, that'll be enough. Although we can't have her engaging in battle against Ssalivan. Therefore, on our way there, Rookie and the Avian will be dropped off at an appropriate safe house and protect the child, preferably someplace out of Gabriel's reach. We would then return once Ssalivan has been defeated."
She looks over everyone present, a strange silence permeating the air. "That... is what we do should we choose to follow the path of the Grand Marshal. However, I have another... idea in mind." She gives everyone time to comprehend what she was saying - to affirm that they were attentive to her words. "The Grand Marshal's forces, although great, are nothing compared to Ssalivan. No doubt the use of Anna could help sway the tide of battle, but... something tells me there would still be a great many losses, and the prospect of defeat..."
She clears her throat. "So... I propose we do as follows: we continue our investigation within the Death Marshes to locate Dark Stalker, making sure each of us are healed to tip-top shape. Once located, Anna eliminates the enemy hordes with the light-magic imbued within the bow. Something tells me that Midnight's creations won't be able to use magic, and if they are, they'd further drain him. With the hordes dealt with -- perhaps thanks to our marksman bird-friend -- we can effectively focus on taking down Midnight. Dark Stalker is a powerful blade, yes, but Dark Vibrance is my trusted sword -- my Durandal -- which is strong enough to channel the same amount of dark magic through it. Which means, I can fight him effectively and cancel his magic prowess whilst the rest of you attack. Perhaps our Orc and Gnoll friends could switch with the Avian for a short time whilst the Elve, she and I deal with Midnight?"
"Regardless, what I'm trying to say is we can kill two birds with one stone. By retrieving Dark Stalker, we gain an unparalleled advantage in the battlefield, not to mention our dragon friend Knight can take us there much faster than horseback. And who's to say we couldn't retrieve another of the two blades out in battle, too? We would be completing half our mission whilst aiding the fight against Ssalivan - our time would only be delayed a fraction, but the end result is well worth the wait."
"So, what do you think?" Maryvale asks with crossed arms. "Do we disobey the Grand Marshal out of his best interests, or do we follow through with his orders? I leave it to you to decide."
"Well, I guess we should take our time. I can't fight in this condition. I'd rather heal up some before we go. In the meantime..." Maryvale gets to her feet. "Why don't we have a look around for the other sword supposedly in the area? Once my poisoning recovers, we can go, unless we have any objections...? Also, what should we do with her?" Maryvale points to the girl. "I'm not good with children."
(Oh. Well lemme just edit out the parts after she gets up after this)
Seeing as Anna had calmed down, Maryvale sighs and sits down. The poison in her body was going to be a real pain, but if she didn't move and concentrated on her healing ability, she could hopefully get rid of it sooner rather than later. As she sat on the floor, she couldn't help but feel a great amount of satisfaction from the group's handiwork.
"Good job. Everyone. We're one weapon down." She replies, letting out a deep breath. "Everyone did exceptional - if we keep working like this, our mission will be completed in no time."
Maryvale almost collapsed at that moment, however apparently it wasn't from exhaustion, though anyone who couldn't read minds would obviously see it as so. Rather, the sounds of a young girl crying, her voice filled with pain and suffering, was what made her blood boil.
She was a flood of emotions. The sounds of anguish and fear were things Maryvale simply could not tolerate. It was driving her insane; if it weren't for the presence of her fellow members, she would be clutching her ears and screaming at the child to stop. However, instead, Maryvale merely rose to her feet, body shaking...

Another where time goes in the opposite direction, and species begin as gods, and wind backwards to cells, and never learn
to survive.

~Exurb1a
