Millennium City, right around midnight. While the rest of the city went about celebrating the new year, a certain Japanese-American spent the holiday sitting atop an old radio station tower that overlooked the East Side, or at least what was left of it. The tower was just outside of the quarantined zone and granted Chad a depressing view of it. Buildings had fallen into disrepair, the roads looked like they were starting to break apart, windows were smashed all over the place. And then there was the worst part of it all, the sounds of mutagen victims moaning and wailing in the distance, in pain and in sorrow. It was enough to make you want to weep for them. In fact, Chad's eyes even watered a bit at one point, but he wiped them and successfully prevented himself from crying. It was such a sad sight, even more so because Chad's childhood home had been in the East Side, and now there was a good chance he would never get to go see it again.

He watched in silent agony, feeling helpless. Despite the power his sword, the Ryuuken, gave him, there wasn't really a damn thing he could do to fix the problem in the Quarantine Zone, and inside that angered him. What was the point in having this power if he couldn't actually save those poor people with it? He shook his head, having now started to tune out out the sound of wailing victims when he heard a small, still voice in his mind and heart. It was Ryuunosuke, the spirit of his ancestor that haunted the blade he wielded.

"Why do you mourn for those in the infected area? You can put an end to their suffering."

"By murdering them? I think I'll pass." Chad said aloud. Thankfully no one else was around or he would probably look like a weirdo that was talking to himself, "Just because you have no qualms about killing people, doesn't mean I shouldn't have them." he continued, now staring at the sword in his hand as if it were the face of his ancestor, "Besides, what if they could still be cured? I'd be killing them for no reason." Chad had only been using his new-found powers for just over a month. In that time, he'd taken down some criminals, but had yet to kill anyone, nor did he have any plans to. This was the 21st Century, after all, not the 12th Century where fighting to kill was considered the norm. Ryuunosuke still seemed to have difficulty understanding that, as the spirit always seemed to offer killing as a first resort, rather than a last one.
It was just after midnight, the new year had begun, but the people in YoshidaCorp were not celebrating. Instead, they were at work in the main building located in the western half of downtown. Within the research lab, Dr. Katsuo Yoshida and a team of lab techs were studying a dead specimen on a table. The specimen in question was the remains of a mutagen victim, and the researchers were hoping that by performing an autopsy they could discern a better understanding of the mutations and perhaps even develop a cure. A slow process, to be sure, but they had to start somewhere. The lab team went about the procedures, with Yoshida supervising from a distance. The man was involved in many projects, this being only one of them, so unfortunately he didn't have the time to be completely hands on here.

As he was marking things down on a clipboard of some kind, he finally decided that he had spent enough time in this lab and was likely needed elsewhere, so he handed the notes to an assistant and left to check on other projects. Many of the projects involved medicine, since YoshidaCorp was a pharmaceutical company first and foremost. They did, however, dabble in other areas. Specifically, they had a Weapons R&D Department from which a good portion of the company's government funding came. That was where Yoshida was headed, as he had a rather special project in the works there and wanted to check on its progress.

When he arrived in Weapons R&D, he was greeted by the lead tech in charge of the research, "Ah, Mr. Yoshida, perfect timing sir. I have a progress report for you on Project Guardian."

Yoshida nodded, "And that would be...?" he asked, slight impatience slipping into his tone.

The tech became a bit nervous but continued, "We've managed to reach the beta stage of testing, right on schedule. We should have a prototype ready for field testing in two weeks, three at most." he said, trying to sound proud of work. Yoshida only nodded.

"Good. Keep up the good work, and keep me updated. I want to know as soon as a prototype is ready." Yoshida instructed to the tech, who nodded and then went back to work. As for Yoshida, he left the department and returned to his office, where he would try to get some more progress done on various paperwork assignments before calling it a night. As glad as he was about Project Guardian's progress, there was still an inherent frustration with it. When his parents left their mystical sword to his son, Katsuo tried to persuade Chad to let the sword be studied, so that it's powers could potentially mimicked through technology. Unfortunately, Chad wanted no part in such an undertaking, and so Katsuo was forced to go through with the project without having the Ryuuken as a basis for the concepts. It obviously didn't stop Project Guardian, but it was slowed considerably. If Chad had agreed to the proposal, Katsuo had no doubt that they would already be in the field testing stages and perhaps on the verge of mass production. Oh well, with or without Chad he would engineer the ultimate defensive force for the city. It was only a matter of time, and fortunately Katsuo knew all too well the virtue of patience.
*pokes with a stick*
I have a question. How far-gone are the mutated people? I ask because I plan for Chad to be asking the same question and wonder whether or not these people can still be saved.
Kouta paid very little attention to the fights. He'd barely heard of many of these fighters, much less cared who won or lost. He sighed, wishing the crowd wasn't so noisy, even if such a wish was impossible, given the setting and events going on. Still, this was the kind of experience that he just knew would be giving him a massive headache before long. Oh well, if it was to get his wish from the Dragon Balls, then it would be worth the aggravation. For now he'd just have to grit his teeth and deal with it.

He watched as one of the fights came to close. Some old guy versus a younger guy in what clearly looked like armor. Did... did they allow the use of weapons and armor in these tournaments? Kouta was sure that such things were banned but maybe they had changed the rules at some point and he simply hadn't known about it? Well whatever the case, the younger guy apparently won, though it looked like it was only through the skin of his teeth. Kouta honestly would have pegged the old guy as the one who would win, but hey, it wasn't like he had actually bet any money on the fight. Hell, he barely even cared about the fight in the first place, only taking notice of it because of the whole weapons and armor thing coming into play.

As the first round of fights started winding down, Kouta began to notice a rather irritating pattern. Certain members of the audience were apparently the most arrogant, obnoxious assholes he'd ever seen in his life. And... not a single one of them were human. Between the loudmouth alien who damn near started a panic with his little tantrum and the demon Zabura nearly destroying a set of bleachers when someone threw their snow cone at him, one would get the idea that having weird colored skin or other alien/demonic traits were grounds to be the biggest jerk imaginable. Okay, the snow cone thing was a rather boneheaded thing for the human guy to do, given the circumstances, but surely the demon should have been able to retain more composure than that. In response to all of this, Kouta just pinched the bridge of his nose, practically facepalming at the display of sheer douchebaggery happening around him.

"Apparently the concepts of subtlety and restraint are purely human inventions..." he muttered to himself under his breath. He had an instinct to step in to stop these guys from causing any more destruction, but fought the urge. He now had his own mission and wasn't about let the temper tantrums of an alien meat-head get in the way of his completing it. Although he did secretly wish that someone else would step up and do something about them. That at least would show some much needed decency in humanity... and give him a potential opportunity to slip away and steal the Dragon Balls. Of course, the chances of that actually happening were slim to none, especially in a place like this, where the bloodsports ended up bringing out the worst in people.
Oh my God, we've been on Arendelle for six months. Six. Months.

Yeah, I skipped us to the World Boss. I'm tired of us being on this world so let's get through the rest of this in a (hopefully) timely manner so we can move on to bigger and better things.

Also, before starting the World Boss battle, make sure you update your CS's with a new Minor Ability, Snow Giant was a Mid Boss after all so we all get a Minor Ability from it.
With a final cry, the the core of the giant shattered, causing the rest of the creature to crumble or melt away. The Darkness that had seemed to corrupt the giant was gone now, perhaps it was Heartless seeking to take a heart that was never actually there, since the giant was a construct and not an actual being. Either way, the battle seemed to finally be over. As such, Ana and Kristoff came out of hiding, Ana actually applauding the efforts of Elim and Simo before she paused to realize that Elsa had come out, "Sis?" she asked, then ran up to her sister and might have even hugged her, but Elsa pushed her back, having never been one for showing affection.

"What are you doing here? Didn't you notice how ridiculously dangerous it is up here?" Elsa demanded, now apparently scolding Ana for following her up this mountain. This got Ana teary eyed, but then she started shouting in return.

"Well, if YOU hadn't left in the first place..." the two might have started arguing right then and there, but a crashing sound interrupted them. It came from the palace, and soon the source of the noise made itself known. A winged Pirate Heartless had apparently been thrown through the window and was now flying away from its attacker, who came leaping out of window, throwing his Keyblade in midair after the Heartless, but the creature had gotten too far away and managed to dodge the blade before escaping into the distance. Now on the ledge of the window, Jared used his own acrobatic skills to parkour his way back to the main staircase to rejoin the others. He didn't look too happy.

"Damn it, he got away..." he said, swearing under his breath, "...I take it the quiet means we're done here, right?" of course it wasn't quiet for long. Ana made sure of that.

"I came up here to find YOU, we need you back home, Elsa!" Ana said, shouting at her sister.

"Who said I wanted to come home?" asked Elsa, "It's safer for everyone if I just stay up here and away from people! You saw what I did the other night!"

Jared pinched the bridge of his nose. This was going to be a long trip back to the kingdom, wasn't it? He tried to block out the bickering sisters for now in favor of another thought. Why did that Heartless even run away in the first place? They were never that intelligent, and according to the information the ship had given about them, the only times Heartless ever acted with such intelligence was when someone was... commanding... them. "Uh oh," said Jared, sharply looking in the direction the Heartless had fled, "Will you two stop your argument, please? We've got a situation!" he suddenly said, standing between the Princess and Queen and finally having had enough of the bickering, "That Heartless that ran away," he gestured in the direction the creature had flown, "that way goes back to the Kingdom, doesn't it?"

Elsa, Ana, and even Kristoff looked off in the distance and seemed to realize the problem right away, "Not good, not good!" cried Ana as went back to the sled that Kristoff was already preparing. Jared then approached Elsa.

"Look, Your Majesty, you may wanna go home right now, but it looks like it's in danger now... and we could really use your powers to help us." he told her bluntly. She seemed to think about it then sighed and walked forward.

"Fine, but I'm not staying." she said, holding her hands out and conjuring a sled made of ice, then summoned a team of two horses made of snow to pull it. Between the two sleds, there was just enough room for everyone to ride back to Arendelle. With the transportation, the trip back would be much quicker than the one up the mountain in the first place. Of course, they didn't need to get close to Arendelle to notice it was in trouble. Dark clouds seemed to hang over the place, and when the sleds got close there were some Heartless at the main gate to greet them.

"Ugh, forget these guys! We need to find the source!" Jared said, having ridden in Elsa's sled. The snow queen nodded at his words and used her powers to trap the Heartless in ice so that they could skip through them and into the city itself. More Heartless were there, and most of them seemed to be gathered around the big fountain in the town square, and so that was where the sleds went to. Both sled teams stopped in their tracks when the fountain came in view. There, in the middle of the Heartless swarm, standing tall and confident, was Prince Hans and a familiar-looking Pirate Heartless.

"You..." said Jared, "You're behind this!"

"Unfortunate that it had to come to this..." said Hans, beginning to step toward the party, "...but you people interfered and forced my hand. If only you'd just died out in that frozen wasteland, then this all could have been so much simpler..."

"But... you said I was your true love..." said Ana in tears. Hans scoffed.

"Please, if I'd been able to woo your sister like I originally planned, I'd have never had to trouble myself with you. Now, if you mind... I'd like for you all to kindly DIE!" he said in response, drawing a saber of his own toward the end and giving a command for the Heartless to attack, lunging forward himself.

World Boss - Hans
Okay so, between the site's stability issues and my apparent inability to find time to post, what would you guys say to a tiny timeskip? Just enough to get us out of Frozen and onto the next thing? Seriously, I think Arandelle has become my own personal Far Far Away (Sorry if Ren is the only one who gets the reference) and I think I'd rather just get us out of this limbo we've become stuck in.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Demands? Anyone?
Kouta could only raise an eyebrow at the demon's choice of action. Not exactly the reaction he expected when he discovered that the demon had spotted him. Maybe he'd heard of Kouta or the Shi-Long tribe and gave up whatever he was planning? Yeah, right, like that would ever happen. This had to be some kind of trick, Kouta knew it. But what choice did he have? He couldn't let the demon out of his sight, so if that meant he had to trigger a trap then so be it. Kouta pushed away from his spot, grabbing the tip of the wall separating the audience area from the arena ground pulling himself up and over with ease. He heard voices, people probably questioning what the hell he was doing, or calling security, or both. Kouta ignored them all.

With a quick running start, Kouta dashed forward and then leaped his way up to where the demon was walking, "Where do you think you're going, Demon?" he demanded, now standing in close proximity of the demon and able to look him right in the face. Could this be him? Was this red devil the one he'd been hunting? Kouta narrowed his eyes in scrutiny, using his training to get a good read on the demon's Ki. That was the sure-fire way to identify him. Kouta was unable to look at the demon who'd murdered Shino but he remembered sensing the bastard's Ki, and he'd never forget what it felt like. Most demons' Ki were a fiery sort, and teeming with pure hatred or rage, sometimes both. But the one that night... he was different. That one's Ki was almost ice cold, and devoid of anything resembling emotion, not even rage or hatred like most. After a short moment, Kouta's shoulders sagged in disappointment. Whoever this demon was, they weren't the One.

"So you're not the one I'm looking for." said Kouta, disappointment in his tone. Still, he removed the cloak he'd been wearing to show his Shi-Long clothing for all to see, "But a demon's still a demon..." his voice started trailing. Was this really a good idea? Starting a fight here would disrupt the tournament, and mobs of people would be on his case for it. And that wasn't even mentioning the collateral damage a fight would cause, the potential people this demon could try to kill before Kouta got to him, "Hmm, a demon at a tournament, and not even taking part like they usually do. What are you after, anyway?" obviously the demon wanted the Dragon Balls, but what Kouta wanted was to know why. He supposed it could be the usual immortality schtick that most evil types raved about, but he had a sneaking suspicion that this was a bit more complicated than that.
Well, demons did used to be more common in ancient times so I figured a tribe dedicated to hunting them was the next logical progression from that. xD
