Daigo was neither confused nor frightened. Well, maybe a little confused, but definitely not frightened. If anything he was annoyed, or impatient, it was hard to tell between the two sometimes. He stood there as the robotic being asked them all to calm down. Naturally, he neglected to actually explain anything, which only made Daigo more irritated. By this point he had crossed his arms, his left index finger tapping impatiently on his right forearm while he closed his eyes in contemplation. Soon he heard the voice of a girl introducing herself as Alison, and another following that saying they were Phascomon. Daigo opened his eyes when a Falcomon introduced themselves and their tamer to the group, the tamer himself apparently being too shy to speak up. This was further cemented when the kid stuttered through his introduction a bit. By this point Daigo had lost his patience and pointed threateningly at Ebemon, "Who we are doesn't matter. All I care about is getting out of here, and right now that means talking to you. So start explaining." "Daigo-san, that's-!" Elecmon tried to protest but a quick glare from Daigo silenced him. "He's Ebemon, I know. One of the more powerful Digimon in existence if the stats for him are any indication. He's also responsible for the emails." said Daigo with a glance around at everyone, "Isn't that right... EBE?"
Unfortunately, Keyblades are bit of a necessity in this scenario. At this point in time in-universe, the Keyblade Gliders and Lanes Between are the only known way to travel between worlds since Gummi Ships haven't been invented yet. This means that Non-Bearers are virtually incapable of traversing the worlds. There are the Corridors of Darkness, of course, but those are a bit of a rarity in this setting (Malcolm is thus far the only individual who has ever mastered using them) and I don't think Yen Sid would approve of their use. Plus, I don't think there's much reason for Yen Sid to be teaching pupils who aren't Keyblade Bearers since this does center around a Mark of Mastery exam and all.
A vague one, perhaps. I have no plans to include a cursed forest realm if that's what your wondering. Locks on the other hand... well, *shh* Spoilers.
The set up kind of assumes we're all from The Land of Departure. The Lanes Between have been locked since the Keyblade War so there's no plausible way for characters to get to The Land of Departure from other worlds.
While that is true, at the same time I kind of felt like Heartless were becoming a bit superfluous as a threat so I made up the Soulless to give us something new to think about. The Soulless are essentially Frankstein monsters created by mashing together traits of various creatures (Heartless included) and then injecting them with pure Darkness to give them life and a source of power.
While I don't have a concrete plan yet, I would still like to propose this as a concept pitch to anyone who might be interested in taking part. The game will be set in the "Birth by Sleep Era". In other words, a time when Keyblade Masters were still teaching apprentices. Though unlike Birth By Sleep, this will be set 60 years before KH1 instead of just 10. As such, many familiar characters will not be appearing because this will be happening before their time. The basic gist is that in The Land of Departure, Master Yen Sid (Who would still have been a Keyblade Master at the time) is preparing his most recent pupils for the Mark of Mastery Exam when he receives urgent news. A man by the name of Malcolm has reportedly returned and this is worrysome enough that Yen Sid postpones the exam and, for the first time since the Keyblade War, unlocks the Lanes Between so that the threat can be dealt with. As for who Malcolm is and why he's such a big deal, here's the rough draft version of the story. 25 years prior to the events of the RP, the Keyblade wielders were thriving, using The Land of Departure as their home world. Back then, they called themselves the Keyblade Society, and they governed The Land of Departure with a Council of Keyblade Masters. One of the Councilmen, Malcolm, abruptly leaves The Land of Departure by means unknown after he attacks and kills the other members of the council. Once departed, Malcolm begins experimenting with the forbidden power of Darkness, infusing it with various test subjects and eventually creating a force of creatures that only he could control. Using his new creations, Malcolm launched an attack on the Keyblade Society. With no council, the Society was forced to elect one of their Keyblade Masters as King so that he could use the authority thereof to lead the Society in what came to be known as the War of Souls. Malcolm's new creatures appeared to possess no hearts or minds, nothing that could identify them as anything other than pure abominations that the Society soon dubbed The Soulless. After a series of fierce battles, the King finally managed to put down Malcolm, though the exact circumstances of that battle have remained a mystery. All that is known is that both Malcolm and the King were destroyed in that battle. So yeah, Keyblade Master gone dark threatened to destroy the Keyblade Society 25 years ago, was apparently stopped, but is now somehow returned with his creatures the Soulless. In the end it will be up to a group of Apprentice Keyblade Wielders to discover the truth about the war and put a stop to the mad man Malcolm once and for all. Before I end this post, I feel the need to warn everyone that the nature of this setting means that none of the previous worlds can be visited, since none of those characters or stories have come around yet. That means we'll need to work together to come up with some new ideas for worlds to visit. Hope you're up to the challenge, and I hope to read your responses soon!
I think you're right. Thankfully I had a backup plan. Said plan basically just being "start a new game and get some fresh players for it". So yeah, I'll probably just do that. Everyone's invited to join it of course.
"Daigo-san! Daigo-san!" His eyes blurred into focus, and Daigo sat up abruptly. Looked like he was in a bed, hospital of some kind. Next to him he saw Elecmon staring at him, using its paws to shake him awake. "You're awake, Daigo-san." said Elecmon with a sigh of relief, "I thought I might have lost you." At this Daigo merely put hand on Elecmon's head in a sort of patting gesture, also giving his partner a smile, Elecmon being one of the few who Daigo would ever genuinely smile to, "Where are we, Elecmon?" he asked, looking around at the place. Seemed like a normal enough hospital, but that couldn't be true. Not after the kind of circumstances that went into bringing them here. Daigo remembered something and took the red and gold digivice out from his inner coat pocket and showed it to Elecmon, "What do you think? Is it a Digivice?" Elecmon sniffed of the device and shrugged, "I think so. Does that make this the Digital World?" Daigo stood up, placing the Digivice back in his inner coat pocket, "Sitting around here isn't going to solve anything. Come, Elecmon, let's figure out where we are." "Uh, wait, Daigo-san!" said Elecmon, now gesturing to another part of the room, "What about them?" Daigo looked, and found out he wasn't alone in this room. There were others here, and Digimon from the looks of it as well. He wasn't the last tamer, then, it seemed. Perhaps in another situation, he would have been more glad to learn this, since that meant there were at least a few more rivals he could fight. But now wasn't the time. His first priority needed to be figuring out where this was, and then finding a way back home. A beep from the hallway got his attention and Daigo ran from the room he was in to find out who was coming. Whoever it was, they probably had the answers. Someone else was in the hallway, a girl. Maybe she had the same idea as him?
"Someone, help!" the cry came from up a tree in a park. A kid, no older than 7 or 8 years old had apparently climbed up to where he now sat, but couldn't climb back down. Stuck in the tree, the kid was crying out for someone to bring him back down. Why he had climbed up the tree, and how, were of no consequence. The point was that he was up there, and he was now stuck. The boy cried out louder, surely someone else was in the park and would hear him. And he was right, someone *did* hear him. That someone now stood at the base of the tree, looking right up at the boy with his arms crossed intensely. "No," said Daigo in response, showing no intention of climbing the tree, "if you're strong enough, you'll get down on your own." "But... I can't!" the boy said, on the verge of crying. "You got yourself up there," said Daigo, still not moved by the cries of help, "so that means you can get yourself down." "But I'm scared!" "Then face your fear, kid!" shouted Daigo, now glaring up at the kid, "You're going have to prove your strength to the world some day, and sitting up in a tree and crying like that isn't the way. Now come on! Show me your strength and jump down here!" said Daigo, now actually goading the kid into jumping. Reluctant at first, the boy then swallowed hard and pushed himself from the branch he was sitting on. Before he could hit the ground, though, Daigo had lunged forth and caught the kid in his arms so as to soften the landing before the kid's feet touched the ground, "You see?" asked Daigo, standing back up, "I told you you were strong." he smirked a bit, ruffling the kid's hair with his hand and then going to leave without another word. He could hear the kid shouting a thank you behind, but Daigo only offered a silent wave as he continued to walk. --- At his home, a fifth floor apartment, Daigo entered the door and lazily plumped down on the living room couch. He grabbed a nearby remote and switched the TV on, but didn't really pay attention to what was happening. Some kind of news report, Daigo was hardly paying attention to it. Suddenly he heard a voice that didn't belong to either of his parents. "Anything interesting happen while you were out?" it was Elecmon, the beast digimon had come out of Daigo's room and was now sitting on the floor in front of the couch, staring up curiously at his tamer. Daigo recalled the kid, shrugged, and said, "Not really." "I see..." replied Elecmon, before he perked up again, "Oh, you got another one of those emails earlier." At this, Daigo sighed with exasperation as he stood up and went into his room. *When will these people give it up already?* He wondered as he sat at his computer and powered it on. While he waited he took a cursory glance around the familiar surroundings in his room. In particular at a sizable collection of trophies on a shelf, all coming from something called the "Rumble Arena". Back when everyone had Digimon, some thought it would be an entertaining idea to pit Tamers and their Digimon against one another, to see who was doing a better job of training their Digimon. They called it the Rumble Arena, and Daigo naturally took to it, seeing it as a good chance to show his strength to the world by conquering any and every rival who challenged him. He became good at it, well known for it in fact. But then that light event happened and everyone's Digimon vanished. Rumbles stopped happening after that, since there were no Digimon to battle with. Daigo felt cheated after that. All that training he and Elecmon did, all the hard earned victories, it all felt like a waste now. It was as if it no longer had any meaning. This of course angered Daigo, and even just thinking about it caused him to lash out and punch the wall. Of course the beeping of his computer interrupted any further thought. It was now completely powered on, so Daigo went online to check his emails. Sure enough, there was another of those weird emails sent by that person named EBE. "How many is this, now? I lost count..." muttered Daigo to himself. Maybe if he responded to it they would finally leave him alone? Well, simply ignoring the emails wasn't solving anything, so it wouldn't hurt to read what they had to say, and so Daigo clicked on it. The message contained only a single statement. "Time for what?" asked Daigo, confused. Then he blinked, looking at the screen, "Wait, what?" the message at first had read "It is time" but now it said something else: "Check your pocket, Daigo.". Daigo quickly got up from his chair, "Okay, that's the last time I ever click on one of those..." as he said this, he felt a hot sensation from his pocket. He reached for his phone, but when he pulled it out... it wasn't his phone anymore. It was a mysterious electronic device, red and gold in color, "Is this a...?" he wondered, but blacked out before he could finish the thought.
As far as Digimon games go... can't go wrong with the World series.
