Updated the Command descriptions to change Mega into Ultimate so there's no confusion with the Wiki's classifications.
Well, to avoid confusion I went ahead and adhered to the wiki. Sonic Blade counts as Ultimate/Mega and as such I took it off Rei's Command List in favor of Aerial Slam which somehow only counts as Advanced even though I was sure it was an Ultimate. Guess I need to learn the Deck Commands better. xD
I mainly went by the recipe names: Basic Attack/Magic Recipe, Advanced, Mega, etc But how does Sonic Blade count as an Ultimate Attack? I never found it to be all that powerful. In terms of Ars Arcanum, yeah that was a mistake, it belongs in the Mega category along with Ars Solum.
To answer your question, Card, it's a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand, the Styles are meant to coincide with the type of abilities you commonly use. On the other hand, their actual use in the RP will mostly be just be for dramatic effect (ie going into a Style-change as a result of character development and the like). So yeah, a mix of those two methods. I mean, it wouldn't make much sense for a person using mostly Fire spells to suddenly go Diamond Dust, right?
Here it is. Sorry it took so long.
Name: Reiner Nickname: Rei (Pronounced "Ray") Age: 16 Gender: Male Appearance:
Personality: Usually very free-spirited, acting informal around others and often forgetting to address his superiors properly. That's not to say he's disrespectful, quite the opposite in fact, as he does look up to and respect those of higher rank. His main problem is having a tendency to forget to use proper etiquette is all. He's always eager to train or spar, refusing to let any opportunity to prove himself slip by. That could also be considered his weakness as well, as his overall eagerness to prove himself can and has gotten him into trouble on occasion. Beyond that, though, he's a good kid at heart and can be obedient when the situation gets serious. History: Unlike many apprentices, who live with their families in the main town of the Land of Departure, Rei actually lives in Master Yen Sid's tower. This is because, unlike the Master's other pupils, Rei doesn't actually have a family that he's aware of. For as long as he remembers, it was the Master who took care of him, helped him learn to walk, and all in all acted as the boy's father when he would otherwise have had none. This created a rather close bond between Rei and Yen Sid, though it's not without its annoyances, as Rei developed a history of speaking out against the Master more than others, and also feeling like he was being coddled compared to the other apprentices despite Yen Sid's insistence that that wasn't the case. So that was Rei's life for the most part. Living in a wizard's tower, raised by one of the last remaining survivors of the War of Souls, who also became his Keyblade Master on top of that. And while Rei is usually happy enough to accept that, he sometimes can't shake the feeling that there's something more, or like something is missing. Keyblade: Courageous Heart ~Commands~ Attack: Sliding Dash, Stun Edge, Aerial Slam Magic: Shotlock: Photon Charge (LV1) Summon: Command Style: Bladecharge
Plot
Long ago, people lived in peace, bathed in the warmth of light. Everyone loved the light. Then people began to fight over it. They wanted to keep it for themselves. And darkness was born in their hearts. The darkness spread, swallowing the light and many people's hearts. It covered everything, and the world disappeared. But small fragments of light survived... in the hearts of children. With these fragments of light, children rebuilt the lost world. It's the world we live in now. But the true light sleeps deep within the darkness. That's why the worlds are still scattered, divided from each other. But someday, a door to the innermost darkness will open. And the true light will return. So listen, child. Even in the deepest darkness, there will always be a light to guide you. Believe in the light, and the darkness will never defeat you. Your heart will shine with its power and push the darkness away. That tale, while seemingly full of hope, holds a tragic secret to those who know the truth. For the truth of that tale is one of a bloody war fought between wielders of the Keyblade in the hopes of forging the almighty X-Blade. Their clash was so great that everything was nearly swallowed up by Darkness. However, when the world, which was only one at that time, managed to survive by being split into countless worlds spread across the stars, the survivors on that great Battlefield, the Keyblade Graveyard, made a vow. They vowed to never again fight among themselves for the X-Blade. To solidify that vow, the paths used by Keyblade Wielders, the Lanes Between, were locked and were forever forbidden from use. What was left of the Keyblade Wielders rebuilt themselves in the Land of Departure, where they eventually came to thrive again under the banner of the Keyblade Society, ruled by a wise council of Keyblade Masters. Several centuries after the Keyblade War, a Keyblade Master named Malcolm, who was one of the Society's ruling Councilmen, turned on his fellow Masters and slew them. He then vanished from the Land of Departure by unknown means, to a an unknown land where he began experimenting with the power of Darkness. He forcibly combined traits and aspects of many creatures, including one born of Darkness, and infused them with Pure Darkness to give them life and more power. Soon, he returned with an army of these abominations and launched an attack against the Keyblade Society, starting the War of Souls. Meanwhile, the Keyblade Society was forced to name one of its surviving Keyblade Masters as King so that they would have a suitable leader to face Malcolm and his abominations that they dubbed The Soulless. The Master in question, a man named Rayon, led the Society in a series of battles that spanned over six months. The War of Souls, as it came to be called, nearly destroyed the Land of Departure. The Society persevered, and Rayon managed to defeat Malcolm at long last. But when he did so, Rayon and Malcolm were covered in a brief clash of Light and Darkness, and in the aftermath neither could be found, and were both presumed dead. Mysterious circumstances aside, the Soulless vanished with their creator and the war was won. And so the Society could begin to rebuild itself once again. 20 Years have passed. And in that time, only one of the Keyblade Masters who fought in the War still live on. His name is Yen Sid, and he presided in a tower of sorcery located outside of town. In this tower he has been instructing the next generation of the Keyblades' Chosen. At long last he has told them that they are ready to be tested for the Mark of Mastery. On the eve of their exams, the eager apprentices spend one last night together in friendship or alone in training, for with the dawn will come changes to their lives, some of which will be rather unexpected.
Rules
  • Follow all the site's standard rules regarding flaming and such.
  • Keep the tone of the RP in the PG-13 range.
  • While Kingdom Hearts is known for combining Final Fantasy and Disney, I will be incorporating characters and locales from other sources.
  • Please let me be the judge of whether or not a third-party entity fits the setting or not. In other words, any ideas you have in regards to this should be run by me first.
  • These rules, as written, are subject to be altered, deleted, or have more added to them as I see fit.
  • Let's try to write an epic tale and have a little fun while we're at it, shall we?
Abilities
Abilities in this setting will be used as they are in Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, ie the Command system. This means just about any combat ability falls into one of the following Command categories:
  • Basic Attack Commands: These are basic Keyblade attacks such as Strike Raid, Sliding Dash, Quick Blitz and the like. There are some with elemental properties as well such as Fire Dash and Barrier Surge, but anything more powerful than that falls under one of the other categories listed below.
  • Basic Magic Commands: Pretty self explanatory. These are generic magic spells such as Fire, Thunder and the like. Their second tier variants and beyond fall under one of the categories further below.
  • Advanced Attack Commands: These are slightly more powerful Keyblade attacks such as Aerial Slam. Anything stronger will count as a Mega Attack Command which is covered below.
  • Advanced Magic Commands: The higher level generic spells ending in the -ara or -aga suffix. Anything stronger counts as a Mega Magic Command covered below.
  • Ultimate Attack Commands: The most powerful Keyblade Attacks. These are the ones that are usually infused with a powerful spell of some kind, such as Time Splicer, Tornado Strike, and such. Another common trait of these commands was their tendency to take up two command slots in the games.
  • Ultimate Magic Commands: The most powerful magic spells. These range from elemental spells like Firaga Burst and Ice Barrage, to pure light spells like Faith, or even Dark variations of magic such as Dark Firaga. Like the Mega Attack Commands, these had a tendency to take up two slots on the Command Deck, which is how you'll know they are Mega level commands.
  • Shotlocks: These are generally Multi-Target attacks that combine magic and skill to unleash deadly signature techniques. Ranging from fire elemental missiles like Flame Salvo or high speed rushes like Absolute Zero and Shadow Rush, these attacks are powerful enough to warrant being in a category of their own, and are not easily learned or mastered.
  • Command Style: On occasion, some Keyblade Wielders have been known to tap into their inner potential for short bursts of increased power. The exact nature of these bursts depends on the techniques and spells the Wielder uses most frequently. The exact trigger is unknown, but Yen Sid theorizes that it has a close tie to the Wielder's emotional state. To put it in Meta terms, these were short bursts in Birth by Sleep that served a similar function to Sora's Drive Forms. They are mostly elemental themed. You can find more information about them and a list of canon Command Styles here.
  • Summons will be handled slightly differently. Rather than learning them as any other ability, they will function as the Charms from Kingdom Hearts 2 which, like in the game they originated in, are items to be carried around and (by that logic) are usable by anyone who's carrying them.
Character Skeleton
Name: Nickname: (optional) Age: Gender: Appearance: Personality: History: Keyblade: ~Commands~ (You're allowed 2 Basics and 1 Advanced to start with. Whether they be all Attack, all Magic, or a mix of the two is completely up to you.) Attack: Magic: Shotlock: (You can start with one but only if it's LV1.) Summon: (Leave this blank for now as well, like Shotlocks these will be acquired over time.) Command Style: (Choose one, but be aware that the one you choose is the essentially the one you're stuck with.)
We have a fairly good amount of people to start with. Unfortunately the OOC/IC will have to wait until some time tomorrow as I've got something going on today. Other than that we should be good to go.
Funny how Henry apparently expects Daigo to be nice and polite to the guy who basically kidnapped him from his home. xD
