@Raijinslayer To be fair, he'd probably go out his way to troll the media anyway.
Well, the other slight issue with the Hunters is that, yes, they share the Legacy and they each follow it, but they tend to do it under different methodologies. Joel staunchly believed in being as much of a role model as possible, while Jay tended to stick to the "be a leader" aspect of things, hence why he now works with entire teams within law enforcement (at this point he has a hand-picked team of regular human law enforcement personnel from both HPD and FBI that give him the same kind of support Batman would get from the likes of Oracle and Commissioner Gordon). As such, because they adopted slightly differing ways of keeping to the Legacy, they're each sort of wanting Max to follow in their respective footsteps. What may look like the perfect American family to outsiders does in fact have its flaws and issues the public doesn't see. Just like real life celebrity families now that I think of it.
So apart from Kiante... it doesn't look like Max will have any particular connection to the teammates individually. Guess he'll be detached somewhat at the start. That's gonna make keeping to the Legacy a lot harder, but hey, no one ever said the superhero business would be easy. It's not like he's being pressured to maintain the tradition and reputation of an entire family... oh wait. <_<

Yeah, Max will probably seem very privileged on the surface, but you can bet he's gonna be getting a heaping helping of pressure pushed on him by both Joel AND Jay. And I'm guessing the only person who will even be remotely aware of that fact is Kiante... who also happens to be the one person who likely cares the least about it. xD
Shay turned around, with every intention to angrily glare at whomever was cursing him out in Chinese.... or threatening, Shay didn't speak Chinese so he had no clue. Even so, the cocking of a rifle was a familiar enough sound to inform him that was almost certainly a threat of some kind. Then he saw Bluebird and... suddenly found himself forgetting he was angry. She was rough around the edges, to be sure, but in all honesty, Shay rather liked that sort of quality in a woman. A tough lass that could obviously hold her own and wouldn't take shite from anybody? Now that was Shay's idea of good company.

"You... might consider paying more attention to what Batman is telling you."

Alastor always seemed to know how to be a buzzkill. But it snapped Shay out of his daydreaming and allowed him to catch the tail-end of what Batman was saying. Something about Superman being hurt by magic and accompanying his team back into the city. Wait, Superman could be hurt by magic and the supernatural? Everyone knew about the Kryptonite thing since the Man of Steel basically made that secret public knowledge some time ago, but magical voodoo could hurt him as well? That was definitely news to Shay. And apparently to the demon as well.

"Magic, Batman? You don't say..."

Last thing Shay heard was Batman asking what people called him, "Um... I'm guessing you mean other than 'freak', 'monster', or 'drunk son of a bitch'? I mean... my name is Patrick Shay, if that's what your wonderin'. Never actually done the whole cape and cowl thing like you do." afterward Batman brought him in on a briefing. And right about then, it actually starting to sink in that he was in the company of Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, and Captain Marvel.

"You're not turning into a starstruck fanboy are you?"

"N-no! Shut up!" Shay blurted out loud. Again. So before it could get any more awkward, he finally explained, "I got my, um, 'talents' from a demon living in my head." he said, then quickly added, "Hey don't give me no funny look, it can't be anymore unbelievable than an alien robot possessing a man that can fly and shoot lasers from his bloody eyes!"
Cyrus, as it just so happened, knew the mountain paths himself. A map wouldn't be an absolute necessity for him, so he could theoretically navigate his way to the summit himself. That, it turned out, was at least one potentially good thing to come from his having been to this land before. With a hesitant sigh he started walking to where the mountain path had once been, "I may have a lead for getting up the mountain," he said, deciding what his task would be, "there was another path the former emperor kept as a close-guarded secret. He would use it for secretly transporting supplies or troops for covert missions. I can check to see if it's still intact." of note, the actual direction he was going was not toward the mountain, but back in the direction of the palace. The path, if he remembered correctly, could be accessed via an underground tunnel that ran from the backside of the palace and to a separate path following the opposite side of the mountain, manmade of course. Of course, this also meant going back toward where the Heartless were spawning, somewhat dangerous for one person to go alone.

Cyrus wouldn't refuse anyone who volunteered to go with him. The route he was planning to scout for was a somewhat dangerous one after all. That being said, he didn't actively ask for anyone to come along either. His mind briefly went back to the time he first learned of the secret route. Back when he was a boy, only a few months after leaving home with his new Master and training partner. After reading a recent letter he received, Master Cormac had told his two apprentices that their next destination was to be the Land of Dragons, to answer a request for reinforcements from an old acquaintance of his.

"Best not to get our hopes up... the secret route may no longer be accessible with it being so close to the Palace and all." he said, not even sure yet if anyone had chosen to follow him, "Better this than facing the native people of this world... mine is the last face they need to see." this he muttered to himself, though it was still just audible enough for someone to hear if they were following close behind him.
- Why do you care about the team?
Probably because he's had the "leader of men" part of Joel's "what is a superhero" dogma drilled into his head.

- We defeated a dangerous enemy. Who or what was it?
Don't have many ideas for this one. But I can certainly guess who it wasn't: Headhunter. The man who gave Black Condor (the guy who is essentially the Batman of our city/world) so much trouble would be wasted if we treated him as an offscreen first-time villain.

- We destroyed our surroundings in the fight. Where was it? What did we destroy?
Ummm..... good question. Maybe it was some kind small scale holding facility for a few supervillains that used the opportunity to escape? Would give the team an early goal to reach: catch the guys they accidentally helped escape.

- We didn't trust each other at first, but that changed. How? Why?
Well I can't speak for everyone, but for Max I would suspect it has to do with the lineage of his Legacy. Rex often stepped into a leadership/commanding role during many of his missions and battles during WWII and part of the "tradition" of the Legacy is to step up and be a leader when needed. So if I had to guess, those instincts probably kicked in a bit during whatever our first battle was.

- We saved the life of someone important, either to the city, or to us. Who was it? Why are they important?
Um... the mayor? I can imagine someone like that taking what we did and using it to promote their mayoral campaign. Not to mention we'd be off to a potentially awkward start as we're having to deal with our initial "15 minutes of fame" on top of getting our shit together as a team.

- We paid a high cost for victory. What was it?
As a connection to one of my above suggestions, if what we destroyed was some kind of villain holding facility, then the cost of our win was that a bunch of villains were able to escape.

- All things considered, we did well and impressed an established hero. Who was it?
Silver Hawk. That one's a no-brainer. He's probably the one that "encouraged" (pressured, some might even say) both Max and Kiante into making this team a thing in the first place, knowing him. I know he's technically not doing the super hero thing any more, but he would make more sense than Black Condor, who I imagine is the kind of who isn't easily impressed (he's based somewhat on Batman after all).
Brief clarification: None of the Hunters use the same colors or birds in their names. Captain Eagle, Silver Hawk, Black Condor, and Red Falcon. Those are the main four, though I guess there might be other relatives in the family tree that inherited the Shout as well. Basically just pair up a color with a type of bird and that's how you're meant to know they belong to that Legacy. Only reason Rex didn't use a color was because he was a legit Captain in the US Army so he just used his rank... plus he was the first in the Legacy so he doesn't necessarily have to match up perfectly with his successors.
We... are all still meant to be teens right?

This was the best I could do for Max's (Red Falcon's) costumed appearance:

I'm not really satisfied with the mask portion. I'd have preferred something much more birdlike but sadly I couldn't find any options with the system I used.
