Shay spent the better part of the trip into Metropolis grumbling to himself about the "name" he'd been given. "Revenant", it was about as goofy as it sounded. Hell, it made him sound like a villain for crying out loud! The name was, naturally, Sir William's idea. Of course the goodie two-shoes knight-in-shining-armor would be the one who thought of it. Shay actually protested at first, but Batman insisted that he use some kind of codename and told Shay on no uncertain terms to either take the name suggested or come up with a better one. Shay, not feeling arsed enough to argue, begrudgingly agreed to the knight's suggestion.

"We're going to hate working with that knight, aren't we?" Alastor's question pretty much reflected Shay's own irritation.

As he accompanied the team into Metropolis, Shay couldn't help but suddenly depressed at the sight. This once shining example of a modern city was basically in tatters now, buildings damaged in the invasion left in disrepair and the streets littered with abandoned cars and debris. Of course, Shay didn't stay above ground for long, as everyone except Flash and Captain Marvel followed Batman underground. Wonder Woman broke through a wall behind which Batman said the prisoners were held, but something else interrupted the rescue before the team could proceed into the opening she created. A figure that looked like a younger Superman confronted the team.

"Oh shite..." muttered Shay, Alastor's sword already appearing in his grasp in its usual fiery fashion.

"Remember what Batman said. Magic can hurt Superman, so I imagine the same can be said of this one as well."

"Only one way to find out!" Shay exclaimed, probably sounding rather sudden to the others. As he did so, he lunged full force for The Boy of Steel, bringing his fiery, demonic blade around to slice at the young Kryptonian's neck.

As soon as they reached the scene, Al already knew exactly the role he intended to play. Many of the Titans fared better when stealth and the element of surprise were on their side. That often meant that someone had to take center stage and keep the bad guys' attention squarely on them for the first few moments of an encounter. And who better to play this role than the magician who already thrived in the spotlight? As the SUV parked and other members of the team went to work, Al simply straightened his hat and took the direct route to the scene of the attack. Wand in hand, Al used a quick spell to summon a harmless smokescreen in front of the bank for him to appear to the others in, while also charming nearby speakers to start playing a dazzling stage song to serve as his entrance theme.

"A dazzling light that pierces the darkness! A magician who brings hope to where there is none!" Al made sure he sounded as loud and confident as possible, while also being careful to sound more cool rather than arrogant. Putting oneself at the center of attention like this required a surprising amount of balance so one could sound cool and inspiring while not sounding arrogant or annoying to the audience, "Villains beware, for your opponent today is the GREAT and POWERFUL Kazam!" by that point the smokescreen started to clear, Al even giving his cloak a dramatic wave from the front to behind him, simultaneously taking off his hat for an introductory bow before putting on.

"Now, who wants to be my first volunteer? You sir!" he gestured his wand toward Adonis, without even giving the jock wannabe a chance to answer, "Lrig a ekil maercs!" Al spoke the incantation. If all went well, the would-be team of villains would pay more attention to Al than the other members who hadn't made a move yet, plus Adonis would find himself with a very high-pitch feminine voice, something Al knew would really get under his skin.

I'm planning to have Al serve as the "distraction", ie use magic to put on as much of a show as he can and hopefully keep the three villains' attention squarely on him and give the others ample opportunity to make surprise attacks.

@Ermine I can't seem to find anything in the books about this, but does being exposed to more danger inflict me with any conditions or penalties?

@Ermine Ah, well there's my problem, right there. I haven't played any systems based on AW and thus was not familiar with the wording.

@Ermine The playbook's phrasing a little vague on the influence section.

"...give influence to all your teammates."

That could easily mean having influence over them or them having having influence over you. I wish it were a little more specific. At least with Outsider, they specify to "...give everyone influence over you."

Also, I have influence over myself? Is that even possible?
