It's looking like I'm going to have one more grueling test of survival and mental fortitude before I get to graduate college, and this one's going to be particularly potent. Yay.

Bio

I'm a musician!

I gravitate towards superhuman, sci-fi and nation roleplays. That said, I find myself extraordinarily picky even amongst those genres, probably because I have limited time to RP so I can't jump in every RP I remotely like, and I take approximately 36 years to make a CS.

(Yes, it's spelled NineTALES, not tails. #038 for life)

~ Carmen ~

Carmen sighed.

It wasn't just that she was angry, it was that she wanted to be angry. To the skylark, this was something that could not be resolved peacefully. However, when Lily was on the case, it was very easy to be seduced by her ways of peace. Carmen of course realized that this was mostly because of the angel's abilities and that it was an unfair advantage, but she preferred to forget about that and just think of it as Lily's comforting aura doing its thing.

And so, it was with the audible sigh that Carmen finally admitted to herself that this situation could not be resolved by destroying the audio equipment over and over again. It seemed like expensive theatrics for something that, while completely unacceptable, was also something that didn't even register in the brains of the Academy's students, who were probably already busy shotgunning beer and trying to impress each other with their drunken dance moves. Carmen had to remind herself that even most of the other faculty members didn't really care for classical music and keeping the ornate ballroom a formal space and not a party house.

She decided that this obviously couldn't be rectified right now, because all the guests were already in the room and the event would be very ruined if she made a second scene. Then again, Criston had already ruined the event for her, so maybe she should...

Forget about it. Well, not forget about it, but...

Lily was being too cute and too effective for Carmen to continue having thoughts of destruction and yelling.

So Carmen turned her attention to Lily's suggestion:

Alcohol.

Lily had suggested the one thing that would truly allow Carmen to walk back into that ballroom with the appalling music without deafening everyone in the room as she silenced the infernal noise.

But to do so, she had to act quickly.

"Alright, Lily," she finally spoke. "Wine does seem like a great solution, and..." she paused as she peeked into the ballroom. "...it looks as if nobody else is drinking it." The Skylark scoffed. "How uncultured...anyway. That just means more for us, right? Right."

She looked deviously at the angel. "And for the record, I plan to drink everything on that wine table, and fast." She flipped her hair dramatically as a sly grin appeared on her face. "Then we'll see who's the real queen of the dance floor." With that, she walked briskly back into the ballroom, trying her best to ignore the music and the fact that Criston was still in the room. She picked up the closest bottle of wine (a Merlot) as soon as she got to it, quickly poured a glass, and began pounding down wine at an alarming rate.

Somehow she still managed to look classy doing so.

BUT NK

.
Ayano

Ayano was pleased to collect her key, but the commotion around her caused concern. One of the tenants ran as fast as he could to his room as soon as he retrieved his key, one girl couldn't stop talking about aliens, and the most normal-appearing female was clearly embarrassed with her kin from the car. I mean, I would be too, the journalist thought. Still, she hoped that the girl would be less ridiculous than the ones blasting music. She was thankful when the man who introduced himself as Maurice began talking to her, as he seemed pretty normal and could distract her from forming more opinions of the other tenants.

"Nice to know that there's someone else here who at least appears normal," she replied with a friendly smile. "My name's Ayano. I think we'll get along just fine, but I guess we'll find out. If our jobs are any indication, we'll have no trouble."
"Sorry. I have to go. I get off work at 5 if... if you wanna come by and... Actually... You're probably busy... I... I'll just see you later."

No!

Hey hey, at least it's just because she had to get back to her shift.

What? You're not supposed to agree with me.

Oh right. Shut up.

That's better. But...what do I do???

Come back at 5. Really dude? It's not that hard.

Yeah but...but...what if she was just saying that to be nice?

You really second guess everything, don't you? The signals are all there.

Yeah, like a coworker who would really rather us not be a thing.

Exactly.

This entire inner dialogue seemed to an observer like Lucas was just sitting there with a distressed look on his face, not knowing what to do. He snapped out of it, and called after Claire.

"O-ok, I guess I'll see you later! Thanks for spending your break with me!"

Lucas walked out of the store, flustered. He could tell that she liked him because she was fumbling over herself just as much as he was (if not more), but he wondered if coming back at 5 was the right thing to do. For the rest of the day he mulled it over with himself. At the very least, it gave him something to occupy his mind with as the hours rolled by.

Time Skip

Lucas looked down at his watch. 4:50. It was now or never. Or, you know, tomorrow.

Just go, man. She obviously likes you.

But what if-

No buts. You've gotten this far, just keep at it. I'll be worth it.

How do you know?

I don't.

Lucas eventually got over himself and walked back to the coffee shop. He walked in and noticed that Claire wasn't there. Trying to remain cool, he sat down at a table by the window. I'm not late, am I? he wondered. He looked at his watch, which said 4:56. Good. She must just be in the back then. He decided to wait for 5 to come, and see if she showed up. Fortunately he had picked a good spot to look out to the ocean, as if he hadn't been doing that all day anyway.
Ayano

"Literally what."

Ayano's first words since she got in her car twenty minutes ago to drive to her new place were directed squarely at the spectacle unfolding in front of the building - specifically, the shirtless man on top of the car loudly singing along to a song Ayano had thankfully forgotten up until that point. Unfortunately, her car's convertible top was down so she had no way of quickly stopping even one part of the audio/visual onslaught. She certainly wasn't about to close her eyes and crash into something to avoid seeing it, though she honestly thought about it.

She pulled in to the parking lot and parked, being sure to close her car's roof as quickly as possible. I hope that guy doesn't breed, she thought to herself as she got out. As she did so two things were plainly visible: 1) she had already moved most of her belongings in ahead of time because all she had on her was a bright red leather handbag, and 2) she looked like she belonged on the cover of some trendy style magazine. Modeling wasn't her game, however; she was much more interested in looking fly while journalizing. That's not a real word; I made it up. That's totally a real word; I didn't make it up.

Ayano sincerely hoped that the guy out front wasn't a harbinger of things to come; if she was going to be here for a while, she wanted a pleasant experience. Although she had been in her apartment before to move in (which she found weird that she moved in before being given the keys) and was happy with it, she was apprehensive of what the rest of the Maple 801 - 101 experience had to offer. Seeing the small crowd gathered around where she was to get her keys only further exacerbated her suspicions. Some of them seemed normal, others...less so. However, they all looked younger than Ayano, which she thought was a good thing. Electing to grab her keys before interacting with the others, she walked over to the sign that said "Please wait for me to give you keys". Just behind it was a girl cleaning the floor and at least one other person already waiting for keys. "I'm assuming I'm in the right place?" she asked idly, to the landowner or really anyone who decided to answer.

@Driving Park It's alright bud not everyone can be the Flash.

Three months wasn't even an exaggeration. Granted, it was a character I was making for fun long after the RP had already started so there wasn't a deadline, but yeah. Three months.
