Great, Ruby was just as terrible at ice breakers as Sam was, at least he didn't have to worry about accidentally saying something about a wheelchair anymore. "Ya, I'm sure we'll make a great pair," he gave Ruby a friendly smile but this was still pretty awkward. Their walk to the dorms was a rather quiet one. They got to the room and Sam saw it was his old room, 222, "I get the same room?" He wasn't complaining, he was just surprised. "Ya, we basically flipped a coin and you got lucky, so you get the room," the volunteer told him. Sam shrugged and entered the room, making sure the door stayed open for the others before taking his bags back and setting up on the side of the room he had taken previously. He guessed Ruby hadn't picked her elective yet since she wasn't bonded until just now.

"So Ruby, for your elective, I don't know if you have a choice in mind yet but I'm taking cooking if that affects your decision." He took out the glass dragon again and set it on his dresser, hopefully this time he wouldn't have to pack back up again. "Also I guess we should set rules for living together? Honestly I don't really have any rules in mind, just like, don't be a dick? Not that'd I'd expect you to be, just that's the only thing I can think of. If you have any specific rules just let me know." He began setting up his laptop on the desk before thinking of one last thing, remembering what he was doing with Vyvyan before they had to leave. "Oh right, if you don't mind sharing, what's your ability? Just curious is all." He hoped that wasn't too awkward a question to ask, it shouldn't be. They were partners now after all, he'd need to know her ability so they could work together, right?

I've been following the thread for a few days and this RP looks interesting. It seems you have everyone you need, but if someone doesn't show up could I perhaps take their spot?
Is there room for me? I see a lot of replies but I'm not sure how many people are actually around who will be making characters
I'd be interested in Oblivion Ring or Lords of Sorrow if either of those start up. I'm only looking to join one RP right now so if they both go I'd choose Oblivion Ring

Before Vyvyan could tell Sam if he was right or not a female druid opened their door, she seemed slightly out of breath. "I'm terribly sorry, but you're going to have to pack up your things and come with me." Sam hadn't done much unpacking, so he wasn't as annoyed as he might be if he needed to pack all his things once more, but this was still an inconvenience. "Um, okay, why?" Sam wasn't really angry, more curious than anything. He re-wrapped the small dragon with bubble wrap as the druid explained. "Well, you see, there was a slight mix up and it seems you two were bonded to the wrong people." Her face went slightly red as if it were her fault that the mix up occurred, maybe it was, Sam wasn't going to ask and embarrass her more.

Soon enough they were on their way back downstairs, they were walking at a brisk pace but not running. Sam wasn't sure if it was because the druid was unsure if Vyvyan could keep up, if she didn't want to look suspicious, or she was only in a big hurry to get them from their room so they didn't get too comfortable. At any rate Sam didn't mind the pace, when he walked it was usually with a brisk pace, he'd been accused by his mom on multiple occasions of running away when they were going somewhere. The walk was pretty quiet, guess I'm not as socially adept as I thought I was, Sam thought to himself as they made their way through the grounds.

They entered what Sam knew was a classroom, but it was set up with a makeshift podium to do the ceremony. "There we are," the female druid said as she closed the door behind them. "Now, Samuel and Vyvyan, since you two went through the binding process before we realized there was a mix up we'll have to unbind you before you have your correct partners." Sam could have swore she looked at the male druid also in the room when she said the words "mix up" but maybe he was imagining it. Sam must have looked a bit nervous because she followed it up with, "don't worry, it's almost exactly the same as the binding process."

They proceeded and she was right, it was nearly the same ritual. Sam and Vyvyan joined hands as the druids chanted some words Sam didn't understand, but instead of sprinkling water they submerged their hands in a small tub. The ritual finished and the marks vanished from their hands. Sam felt a strange pang of...something when it was finished, like he was part of something and now it was over. While that was technically true he didn't think he'd feel anything when it was done. "Alrighty, now, Samuel Deniel and Ruby Doer, let's bond you guys first." Vyvyan moved to the side and Ruby got on the podium, "hi Ruby, nice to meet you."

Sam knew a bit about Ruby, same as he knew about almost everyone in his year. Her whole family was part of the Swords of Faith guild, as the ceremony commenced Sam wondered why he never considered joining a guild. It would certainly help him explore the world like he always wanted. He was only half aware the ceremony finished when the female druid told them, "we've called some volunteers to come and show you two to your room, I'm really sorry about the mix up again." Sam just gave her a friendly smile, "don't worry about it, these things happen." She seemed to appreciate that, and Sam went with the volunteers who showed up to go to his new room. "Hopefully there's not another mix up, right?" He hoped Ruby was better at conversation than he was, he'd need some time to get less awkward as he had with Vyvyan.

After getting in the room Sam realized the volunteers were waiting around for him to choose his elective, Vyvyan was doing music, and since Sam had basically zero musical capabilities he supposed their one elective would be apart from each other. Vyvyan was asking Sam to guess his ability, which could be fun, "ya, sure, just gimme a sec to pick my elective." Sam employed a simple trick his dad had taught him a long time ago, he pulled out a coin from his pocket, designated heads for cooking and tails for horticulture, and flipped it. The trick wasn't to just give up the choice, his dad told him when you flip the coin, you suddenly realize which side you hope it lands on and that's what you really want. As the coin was in the air, Sam realized he wanted it to land on heads. With his mind cleared he marked down his choice of cooking, thanks the volunteers for their help and they left.

Sam looked at what Vyvyan was doing before starting to unpack his things. "Just so you know, I'm a terrible guesser when it comes to these things, so I hope your hints are good." He chuckled as he pulled out something wrapped in lots of bubble wrap. He unwrapped the item to reveal a small glass dragon statue. It was something his dad had got for him when he was about seven years old. For some reason Sam decided to bring it to school this year, he wasn't entirely sure why, he just felt like he should. "Anyways, I'll take a shot in the dark about your ability, it is.....clairvoyance?" Sam really had no clue, and there were so many abilities that he was almost certainly wrong. Not like magic, you always had a one in twelve chance to guess someones magic type.

Sam sighed quietly when Vyvyan either didn't notice or didn't care that he nearly asked about sleep walking. "I'm totally okay with music, I can't really play any instruments. I know a couple of things on piano, but that's because I just memorized which keys to hit." Sam was starting to feel more comfortable with the boy already, just the first few sentences were the awkward ones.

Hearing one of the volunteers say Monster Hunting was mandatory kind of disappointed Sam, that wasn't one of the classes he was keen on taking. When he saw Vyvyan was his partner he was glad because he doubted Vyvyan would be taking Monster Hunting so that'd leave him free to take the two electives he really wanted to be taking.

Before he could tell Vyvyan which electives he was considering they got to an elevator and one of the older students used a key card or something to open it. "Oh ya, dorms are on the second floor," Sam said as they all got in and went up a floor. The elevator was pretty spacious, which he supposed was expected since students with wheelchairs would be the ones using it. "Anyways, I'm torn between Cooking and Horticulture for my other elective, and since you're not taking either of those it doesn't help my decision." He chuckled slightly as they got to their dorm, room 222, "easy enough to remember at least," Sam opened the door then stood aside to allow Vyvyan and the people bringing their luggage inside. This was the real start of his second year at St. Fortuna's, he had his room, he had his partner, and he had the drive to do great things.

Samuel was so busy looking out on the crowd for his partner to come up he didn't notice the ramp being set up and Vyvyan rolling on the the stage. He recognized the boy, and immediately felt slightly guilty that the only thing he remembered was that Vyvyan was the one in a wheelchair. That and you could probably mistake him for a girl if you weren't looking too close. What did relieve Sam though was that Vyvyan seemed about as nervous as he was, but of course Sam refused to show it.

"Ya, Vyvyan, good morning to you too," clearly they were both awkward individuals, and Vyvyan seemed to want off this stage as soon as possible. "Ya, let's do this," Sam extended his hand and placed on top of Vyvyan's, and then the druids started the ceremony. One of the many things Sam had read about in his extensive free time (though some would call it voluntary isolation) was how this ceremony went, though it went a lot fast than he expected. The next thing he knew there was now a symbol on the back of his hand and they were being beckoned off stage by a couple of volunteers who would lead them to their new room and offered to help with luggage. "Thank you, um, be careful with my smaller bag, it has some fragile items."

Soon enough they were off, now he and Vyvyan could actually introduce themselves. "So, Vyvyan, nice to meet you, I guess we're partners now huh?" Sam was still feeling awkward, and he was currently running a loop in his head of Don't mention the chair, don't mention the chair, so he was hoping they got comfortable with each other soon. "Anything I should know about you since we'll be sharing a room? Do you snore? Sleep wa....talking?" Fuck!

Sam was off to the side in the Sun Room, he didn't really enjoy being around such a large group, being caught in the middle of it was the last thing he wanted. So instead he kept himself isolated and admired the room while half listening for his name to be called. The Headmaster's speech was fine, Sam had let out a few polite chuckles. The Sun Room was much more interesting than the speech though. Sam wasn't easily impressed, he didn't care enough about anything to be really impressed, but the Sun Room made him feel something. It was a feeling he couldn't really explain, but it was definitely a good feeling. He wished he could spend all him time in here, unfortunately the Sun Room was only opened for special events, but Sam did make it a point to pass by whenever he had a chance.

As more groups were called up Samuel started to get a bad feeling in his gut. He felt this before, nervousness, anxiety, but why was he feeling it now? Usually this feeling was reserved for when he knew he didn't do an assignment and would have to come up with an excuse. There wasn't a reason for him to feel like this now, he had done nothing wrong. He looked the same as he had a moment ago to anyone looking but his mind was racing with terrible thoughts. What if he had done something wrong but forgot about it and was about to be kicked out? What if his partner hated him and they couldn't get along? What if he was really awkward in front of everyone? That last one was most likely and terrified him most because of it. He didn't have any more time to dwell on it though because suddenly he heard, "...and Samuel Deniel!"

Sam pushed his anxieties out of his mind and walked his way up to the front of the room. He thanked the gods he didn't fall on his face in front of everyone. He was up there before his partner was, and wondered idly who it would be. He wasn't very social, but he could usually put a name to a face, at least for the students in his year. If only he was paying attention instead of thinking of stupid things that would probably never happen he would know who his partner was. But that was in the past, and he didn't hear so there was nothing he could do. He was sure his partner would be there any second now, so he wouldn't be left wondering much longer.
