"Thanks Aster, and thank you Taotie for humouring me. I've read about sentient weapons before, but there's some things I want to know about your experience, since I know you can't possibly speak for all sentient weapons." As Silas took Taotie in his hand it seemed the group decided to take the right path. It lead into a slightly long hallway, so he had time to ask a couple questions.

I'm assuming you can hear my thoughts while I hold you given how I saw Aster acting while he was holding you, Silas intentionally thought, hoping he was right and he wasn't just holding Taotie in silence. Again, thank you for dealing with my eccentricity. I guess my first question is, have you always been a weapon? Or did you used to be a person who was put into a weapon? Oh, and if I ask anything too personal feel free to tell me off. I've gotten in trouble before for asking insensitive questions. Talking to Taotie also helped Silas keep his mind off this dungeon, which seemed like more of a mistake the more the thought about it.
The group grew to a larger size than Silas was expecting, which honestly made him a bit relieved. There was strength in numbers, and everyone seemed very capable. Of the group, Silas was rather interested in Taotie the staff. But before he could say anything to her or her current carrier Aster, the group started descending into the dungeon. Silas took one last look at the sun, soaking in its warmth, before heading in with everyone else.

As soon as they entered Silas felt uneasy. He knew not being able to feel the sun would take a toll on him, he just wasn't expecting it to be so immediate. But he couldn't let that deter him, he took a quick breath and soldiered on, at least this area was somewhat lit. At the junction the examined the three paths before them, before saying to the group, "honestly, all three of these paths seem awful in different ways. I guess I'd prefer the right one because I'm curious what's over there. I also bet a lot of people avoid it because of the creature that probably lives over there, so we might find something new."

With his preference known he moved next to Aster. "Hey there, Aster, right? I'm Silas, nice to meet you." He put out his hand to shake, whether Aster accepted or not he continued, "you said Taotie is an intelligent weapon. Would she be okay with my holding her and asking her some questions? I've just never seen an intelligent weapon before, but I think they're super interesting. If she doesn't want to answer my questions that's also totally fine, no pressure." Intelligent weapons are such a fantasy staple, Silas was giddy he could meet one. But he made sure to keep his tone measured, he didn't want to come off as some kind of weirdo.
"If you need someone with good eyes keeping watch then I'm your man," Silas volunteered, taking up position on one side of the wagons. He also preferred to be out in the open rather than on the wagon itself, but he didn't need to mention that. He had always liked spending time outside, and ever since growing up again in the culture of the Surya Elves that feeling had just been reinforced. At this point he'd been in this new world for almost as long as he was alive in his previous one, but he still wasn't sure he'd ever get over it.

"Good call having us leave as early as possible, best to start travelling before The Sun starts feeling too important." Silas pointed his golden, almost glowing eyes, toward the east once more. The Sun was slowly making its way up, and he'd feel much better once it did. "Anyone else feel free to join me on this end, my eyes may be good but I still can't see everything." Silas smiled as he talked, a casual escort job across the countryside is exactly what he needed.
Silas made sure to get one last good look at the sun before joining the group. This would be his first time going into a dungeon and, more importantly, his first time being underground for any extended period of time. "We'll be back up before sundown, it'll be fine," he said to himself before joining the group of lower ranked adventurers. Even in his previous life he didn't like being in tunnels, it made him claustrophobic after a while. Hopefully this dungeon had some nice open spaces.

Silas listened to the guard explain the broad strokes of what it would be like down there. Maybe Silas just had to think of the dungeon like he was playing a game in his previous life, that may help keep him calm. Speaking of things from his previous life, the woman who introduced herself first as Astra, looked like a superhero. Silas was so taken aback he almost said something. Almost. He'd sound like a weirdo if he tried questioning her about it. Maybe she was like him, or something similar. Whatever the case he was just gonna let it go.

"Thank you Astra, that was..." Silas paused a moment trying to find the word, "concise," he settled on. "I'm Silas, I can teleport short distances and use radiant magic." He created a small globe of light in his hand to demonstrate, then extinguished it, "I also have pretty good eyes."
Silas kept glancing to the east as he approached the farm. He could see the suns light but it had yet to crest the horizon. It seemed no matter where he ended up he would always be starting his day at the crack of dawn. Before joining the others for an introduction he gave the cargo a quick once over to make sure it was secure, old habits die hard I suppose. These people had clearly done this plenty of times, it was their livelihood after all. The smell of the herbs was nice, very rich and earthy, quite different from the spices of his home in the Simiyu Desert.

Satisfied with his informal inspection, Silas joined the rest of the group, positioning himself in the most direct beam of sunlight he could find at this early hour. "I'm Silas, pleasure to make your acquaintance. I'm used to transporting smaller cargo in a smaller vehicle, but I'm sure the skills are transferable."
I'm still here
Sam was in the cafeteria when he heard the announcement for all students to head to the auditorium. He normally didn't care much for a fancy breakfast, cereal was perfectly acceptable to him. But that was when he had to prepare it himself, being able to just grab eggs and toast and whatever else he wanted made the idea of a full breakfast much more palatable.

Students were leaving the cafeteria but Sam stayed seated, he really didn't want to get caught up in the mass of bodies all heading to the same place. He'd be sure to get there in time, but at the current moment he was going to finish his coffee. He didn't even particularly like coffee, he had just always found the idea of starting the day with a coffee so quaint and fun.

After a few minutes Sam got up and made his way to the auditorium. It was easy enough to find, plenty of students still seemed to be making their way. But now Sam wasn't concerned he might get trampled in the crowd. Inside the building students had seemed to have taken up all the seats close to the front. That was fine with Sam, not like this was a concert or something where he wanted a good seat.

The back of the hall had lots more open seats, though they were filling up fast. He noticed a girl with light blond hair sitting in the aisle seat, bouncing her leg up and down. Same figured the whole auditorium would be filled so there was no point trying not to sit next to someone.

"Sorry, 'scuse me," Sam said as he scooted by her, careful not to step on her feet, as he took the seat next to her. "Hi there," he spoke with a friendly tone and a brief smile before going back to his usual somewhat grumpy expression. The room was hot, even if it was air conditioned having so many people in one place was just going to make the room unbearable. Sam created a tiny ice cube in his hand and rubbed it on his forehead and the back of his neck. It helped, but he was really hoping this assembly wouldn't take too long.
