Elora resisted the urge to roll her eyes at Freyic asking Gears to carry him. How this child had been deemed an appropriate hire for this job she may never be able to figure out. "Will whoever has the faceplate please give it to to me? I'll go have a chat with those...gentlemen." Elora was considering a more rude word to describe the men but decided against it, she needed to put on her polite noble air rather than her duelist persona.

After obtaining the faceplate Elora walked confidently over to the men, "excuse me sirs," Elora called out as she got close, "my friends and I came across this faceplate, we assume it belongs to one of your carriages. It seems said carriage was damaged in transit," as she spoke she held out the faceplate. Not dramatically, and not far enough out that they could snatch it from her. But enough that they could clearly see it was theirs. She continued, "you wouldn't happen to know which carriage this is from, would you? Or perhaps we could speak to someone who would?" Elora was calm, keeping her tone even. Nothing good would come from the men suspecting they were here for any reason other than the faceplate. As Piero said, respectable business.
The skeletons' numbers were falling, but not fast enough. It seemed the shaman was almost out, but it had rallied the grunts to protect it as it charged an attack. Silas had an idea of what he could do, but it would be a bit risky. Taotie, I'm going to teleport closer so I can hit all the small ones. You go after the remaining big guys. We'll be pretty close, but I can blink out if things look dicey.

With that, Silas touched his bracer to change the flow of his magic from range to area. He then teleported forward into the fight, aiming his blast as best he could so it wouldn't hit his allies. "Fire in the hole!" Silas shouted before letting off two quick blasts of radiant energy. If he was lucky this would take out the shaman, if not, well, at least Taotie had recharged herself.

"I don't think you made the wrong call given what you knew at the time," Elora said to Nino gently, "is there anything else you can remember about this person? Any detail could help." Whether he said something helpful or not, Elora followed up with "thank you, Nino. If you can remember anything else, be sure to tell us. I'm sure you can find some way to contact us."

With that Elora left him and joined the group once more, apparently with a new member, so she introduced herself. "Elora, of house Vaelthorne, pleasure to make your acquaintance. You seem like you'll be capable in a fight, please take no offense, but I hope we're not in need of your expertise." As much as Elora enjoyed a good duel, in this instance a fight would just complicate the investigation.

Elora replied to Marcus' musings about where they should go next, "following the tracks would likely prove difficult or impossible. They went onto the main road, given how much traffic it gets there's no way we'd be able to find the tracks we need. Unless anyone has any magic that would making following those tracks possible. If we don't have said magic, I think we should quickly ask the stable employees if anyone from this company was around yesterday then check out the company ourselves." If anyone had a better idea Elora would consider it, but she thought this course of action was the most logical.
All signs pointed towards this being an inside job, which Elora already suspected, but it was nice to know her instincts were still sharp. It was strange though, the suspect was clever enough to make the gate and latch look like they were smashed with force rather than precision, but not clever enough to make sure they didn't leave behind very obvious physical evidence. Almost as though it was left on purpose, maybe to try and frame someone? She needed more information, and she knew just who she wanted to talk to next.

She approached Nino, as he continued to try and be invisible. "Hello Nino," Elora said gently, "don't worry, I'm not like the people you normally interact with, I'm not looking to make an example of anyone. I just want to know what has you so bothered?" Elora glanced to the empty stable then back before continuing, "people who don't know anything usually don't look so nervous." Elora rested her hand lightly on her rapier, not as a threat, just a reminder to Nino that just because she wasn't like his boss, it didn't mean she was weak either.
"At this point young one, I am quite confident we are looking for a horse, and quite an important one at that," Elora said to the boy as she looked over the area. Her family back home had horses, so she knew the remaining ones were well taken care of and impressive in their own right. Meaning the missing one must have been quite a specimen. A few things caught Elora's eye, including but not limited to the fact that Piero seemed all too pleased about all of this. That didn't automatically make him guilty, but it was definitely something Elora would keep note of.

"Freyic, why don't you go check out the grooming station? I can see a strange mirror it seems someone tried to hide, poorly." Elora's tone almost sounded like she was disappointed that the criminal was so bad at hiding evidence, "I'm going to take a look at the empty stall, I spotted a few things that interest me." And with that Elora made her way to the stall, first trying to determine if the latch was breached from the inside or outside, as well as checking out the splintered frame. Then she moved on to the strange blue silk, which almost seemed like it was hidden accidentally rather than with purpose. Finally, she uncovered whatever was glinting silver under the nearby shelf. All of these were likely important clues, and would help when questioning the employees.

Elora knew the job would be a strange one when the petty criminal she had stopped the other day was the one who invited her to this meeting on behalf of 'Big Dom'. Though she quietly thanked him for stopping his men from searching her and possibly taking Lunaciel, if they had tried that then this job would have been over before it even began. Elora had to remind herself that learning of the world included the less savory parts as well, this was not a job she would have taken under normal circumstances.

"I'm on a very specific diet, so I hope you don't take offense, I'm sure the gabagool is wonderful," Elora made sure to flash her fangs quickly, hoping he'd understand. She sometimes reminisced on the food of her youth she could no longer eat, but being the first moon-blessed of house Vaelthorne in generations was such an honour that she could get over it most of the time.

It was unclear to Elora whether Big Dom was talking about a horse or a person, and it seemed an incredibly rude thing to ask. After a bit of listening she hopped into the conversation, "I'm sure a man as powerful as Big Dom has many enemies, the real question is which of those enemies could have pulled this off? And I agree a description would be useful, or even a picture perhaps?"

It seemed radiant magic was quite effective, seeing as the skeletons he hit weren't able to be revived by the shaman. Unfortunately Silas couldn't expand the area of his attacks without sacrificing his safe range. "Astra, Talos! If you can lead them over to me I can take out a bunch of the little guys." If the shaman was still kicking after Lord Percival's shots then his radiant magics ability to permanently take out the skeletons would be even more important.

In the meantime Silas felt his last attack was still effective, even if it didn't hit the intended target, so he just ran it back. Three more rays of light launched their way towards the axe wielding skeleton once more. Whether they hit his intended target or just some of the minions, either result was fine.

Don't you worry Taotie, Silas thought to his new companion, I'm pretty good at getting away from danger, you'll be safe in my hands.

It was actually a bit of a sad life, being stuck as a weapon, unable to move yourself, Silas could understand why she was so prickly. Well most of the sentient weapons I've read about couldn't use magic themselves, their wielder had to use it through them, so you've got a leg up there. It was at this moment that they made it to the large room with the door, and then the skeletons began to assemble themselves and move towards the group.

Well Taotie, I've got another question for you, Silas thought to her as he moved her to his off hand and began channeling radiant magic, how's your magic when it comes to large groups?

Silas' bracer lit up with what looked like sunlight as he formed three beams of radiant energy above it. Lord Percival seemed to be dealing with the caster skeleton, good call from him. Silas fired all of his beams at the axe wielding skeleton, focus fire was important, hopefully the others had better AoE capabilities than he did. At least he had his radiant magic, that was usually effective against undead, right?

Well she certainly had an attitude despite being one good throw from being lost forever. But that wasn't exactly fair, Silas was sure he'd be a lot rougher around the edges if he was reincarnated as an inanimate object rather than a humanoid. Well I wouldn't say I know anything, he couldn't let her know everything he knew was from a different worlds fiction books, so he'd have to be deliberate with the thoughts he sent her. I've read a lot of things, but I have no clue how much of it is true. Things like the weapon growing stronger with its wielder, or even refusing to work if they don't accept their wielder. Things like the spirit being that of a hero who bound their soul to the blade, some are old enough to have seen civilizations rise and fall. Speaking of seeing, how do you see? Do you just sense mana in things and use that? The details like that are never mentioned in the literature.
