Ladies and gentlemen, iiiiiiiit's another superhero!

==~==

Character you have created: Logan Frey
Alias: Renegade

Speech Color: Dark Red

Character Alignment: Hero (edging closer to Walking the Line, due to Arthur's influence.

Identity: Secret

Character Personality: Cocky, hyperactive, and possessed of a voracious appetite for life, Logan lives to live life to its very fullest. He is somewhat of a prankster as well, getting a thrill out of annoying and exasperating his allies and enemies alike. It's all in fun, however, as Logan also has a very strong sense of honor and loyalty- he prefers to tackle his challenges head-on, rather than bother with strategy, and there's no force on Earth or beyond that can convince him to betray those he loves. All in all, a fun person to be around, if you don't mind the occasional joke at your expense.

Uniform/costume:

Origin Info/Details: Logan has never exactly been what one would call "wanted." Abandoned as an infant, Logan spent most of his young life being shuffled between different foster homes and orphanages, never truly settling anywhere. It might've been hard, if not for his Secret. From a very young age, Logan knew there was something different about him. Like how he could take the power from the TV and move it somewhere else. How he could move like lightning just before he was caught doing something he shouldn't. How he could breathe in the power of the sun, like his teachers told him plants could. Logan spent much of his life secretly training his gift, learning to harness it, control it. For he had a goal in mind- to become a hero for those like him, those whom life had dealt a harsh hand. He would be a beacon, living proof that no matter who they were born as, they could achieve greatness.

Unfortunately, he never got the chance. Just before he turned 18, Logan was kidnapped by a strange group of men- he would later find that they had been capturing others like him, people with powers, like he had. For years, Logan was at the mercy of his captors- men and women who forced him to use his powers, training him. Testing him. Making him into a killer. He didn't know why- but he knew he had to escape, before whatever plan his captors had came to fruition. Thankfully for Logan, a plan had already been made.

Without warning, the facility where he was held was attacked. Not by an army, but by a single man, a man wreathed in blue flames, with rage in his eyes. He wasn't merely a man, but a force of nature, a destroyer, an angry god. The cages where he and the others lived were thrown open wide, the doors that had barred them torn from their hinges. Their captors were all slaughtered, to the very last man. And as they were led out of the dark hole where they were kept by their avenger, as Logan saw the sun for the first time in years, he knew only one thing:

He had never loved anyone as much as he did that man, at that very moment.

Compelled to follow the man who had saved him, he followed, not knowing where the man would go, nor caring. For wherever he went from then on, he would be with his savior, his protector. His angel.

Hero Type: Energy/Elemental/Other (absorption)

Power Level: World (can go up to Cosmic briefly, depending on whom he's absorbed)

Powers:

Power Absorption- Renegade can absorb the powers of different metahumans through prolonged physical contact (anywhere from a few seconds to a full minute). He cannot hold these powers indefinitely (the time varies, but the ability will usually degrade by the time Logan goes to sleep).
Energy Absorption- Renegade can also absorb different forms of energy and redirect them, such as thermal energy, electricity, and even light through concentration.
Elemental Shapeshifting- After absorbing an energy source, Renegade can briefly shapeshift into that element, such as morphing himself into a cloud of smoke and flame, or a bolt of electricity, or a haze of light particles. Doing so expends the gathered energy at a slower rate than merely redirecting it.
Increased Durability- Logan's repeated uses of Abaddon's power set has left its mark on Renegade, making him extremely resistant to damage, though not to the extent that his partner possesses.
Enhanced Reflexes- Logan can perceive the world at a faster speed than most, giving him increased agility and reaction time.

Attributes:

Strength Level: Normal Human, but can vary based on the power set.
Speed/Reaction Timing Level: 60 MPH as baseline Renegade. Also varies based on power set.
Endurance at MAXIMUM Effort: 2-3 hours. Can be prolonged by absorbing energy sources, but not indefinitely.
Agility: 20X
Intelligence: Average
Fighting Skill: Trained
Resources: Extreme

Weaknesses:

Power Absorption- Logan's greatest ability is also his greatest weakness. Logan must be in physical contact (skin-to-skin) with his target to absorb their powers. This requires concentration, making it impractical to use it in the heat of battle, or anywhere that he is vulnerable. And, as previously mentioned, he cannot hold these powers indefinitely.
Bindings/Restraints- Logan depends on his hands in order to use his powers. Bindings or restraints that completely cover his hands render him powerless.
Arrogance- Logan's cocky and carefree attitude can get him into situations way over his head if not kept in check.

Supporting Characters:

Arthur D. Garrow, Jr.- Logan's boyfriend and partner. See Abaddon for more details.[/i]
Dr. Elliot- A technopath in Arthur's employ. Designs weapons for Logan to use as Renegade.
Mr. Butterfly- Arthur's underworld informant. Considers Logan to be his rival. The feeling is not mutual.

"HAHAHAHAHA!! Flee, mortals! Flee from the wrath of Kaiser!!"

Logan rolled his eyes as the man in the mecha rampaged through the street, tossing cars, blasting infrastructure, and generally being a massive nuisance. These supervillains apparently had never learned the meaning of the word "subtle." Or "modesty." Or the words "common sense." Claiming to be something more than mortal was a quick way to call a bigger gun down on your head- someone who had a better claim on being more-than-mortal than you. Logan grinned as he realized his golden opportunity to be said "bigger gun." He rolled his shoulders, then leapt off the building he stood on, landing hard, but deftly. He stood, brushing off his uniform.

Guess it pays to have an indestructible boyfriend, he thought, reaching his hand out toward one of the burning cars the metal head had left in his wake. The flames changed direction sharply, pulled toward him. The flames licked around his arm momentarily before vanishing into his arm, his veins suddenly glowing with vibrant light, his eyes burning red. He took the flames from a few other cars, for good measure, before whistling sharply at the mech-wielding man.

The man apparently named Kaiser turned ponderously toward the sound. "Who dares--"

The unfinished question was cut short as a man-sized fireball struck his mecha in the chest, knocking it off its feet and flat onto its back. As he fell, the man within watched in horror as the fireball congealed somehow, converging into the shape of a grinning man, riding the falling suit of armor to the ground. Shocked, the man punched in a few numbers into the console, and a laser cannon on the mech's shoulder directed itself at the fiery superhero. Unfortunately, this response was in turn replied to by the man grabbing the barrel of the cannon as it fired, the energy surging into him, his veins and eyes lighting up in blazing violet, the same color as Kaiser's weapon. He wisely decided to stop firing, but the damage was done. The cocky young super grinned as he drew his fist back, sheathed in violet light.

"Flee, mortal," he said mockingly, bringing the fist down.
Are you guys still taking apps for this?

But is it demonic?

It... may be? I'm kinda edging around not giving away too much.

Although we kind of need a magic-powered character to counter Mercy since that is her weakness and since the majority of our magic users have been gone for a while. >.<

Abaddon's freezing powers are supernatural in origin (can't tell you how yet, spoilers). Does that count?

::Abaddon::

Arthur lifted his head slightly at the alarm sounding near his head, then groaned. He tried to shift himself toward the source of the offending sound, only to be hindered by the bed's other occupant, awkwardly draped over him. He groaned again, trying to extricate himself from the other man's embrace. His reward was a sound somewhere between a growl and a whimper, and a tightening of the grip around him. Arthur, performing a worthy (and moreover authentic) snarl, practically leapt out from under the other man's grip, slamming down hard on the alarm clock. Any other system would have seen that as their death blow, but Elliot was used to his client's... less-than-savory moods in the morning. Finally freed of the Most Annoying Sound, Arthur fell back, rolling his eyes as Logan's arms began snaking around him again.

"Early to rise, Logan. Training day today."

"Don't wanna," he replied, defiantly tightening his grip. Arthur broke out a rare smile, gently beginning what would be an epic battle to free himself from his boyfriend's clutches.

"Come on, you promised. We shook hands on it." Sort of...

"Too tired to care. Let's just stay home. Sleep. Eat cookies or whatever."

"I'm under no illusions of what 'whatever' translates to in your deluded little mind--"

"Nuuuuuuhhh, too early for big words--"

"--come on. If you're a good boy today, I might give you a treat."

Logan finally raised his head, fixing his significant other with a squinty glare.

"How do you do that?"

"What?"

"That weird, condescendy thing, and still make me like it."

Arthur smiled again (this was surely becoming a new record) and patted the other man's cheek fondly. "Ancient superhuman secret."

Logan wrinkled his nose, unimpressed. "That doesn't make any sense. I'm a Meta, too."

"Then clearly you are untrained, and thus, all the more reason for us to do so today," said Arthur, grinning smugly. Logan rolled his eyes.

"You owe me," he said grumpily, making a great show of tossing off the covers and flinging himself out of bed, before practically stomping off to the bathroom.

"You complete me!" shouted Arthur after him, earning a very particular finger in response. Arthur then stood up, stretching, getting himself into what Logan called his "Business Mode."

Let's go catch some bad guys.
Hello, boys!! I'm BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!! *blows up thread*

Character you have created: Arthur Donovan Garrow, Jr.
Alias: Abaddon

Speech Color: #4682B4 (Steel Blue)

Character Alignment: Walking the Line

Identity: Secret- his civilian identity is thought to be dead.

Character Personality: Almost constantly in a state of simmering frustration, usually simply at the world in general. Easily annoyed (Arthur does not have a berserk button. It's more of a keyboard), usually if he thinks someone is acting too flippant, or isn't being serious enough. The only times he seems to relax are around his brother, Gideon, or his boyfriend Logan. He still acts serious in these contexts, rarely smiling, but loses the angry edge that he holds at almost all other times. Even when angered, however, Arthur is the epitome of calm, completely cool and rational, even as he's beating you to death with your own limbs.

He has a sweet tooth, though not many people know it.

Uniform/costume:

Origin Info/Details: Arthur D. Garrow, Jr. has not had an easy life. It started simply enough, sure. But the world has a way of turning that inside out.

Arthur was born into riches- his father was a very successful inventor/entrepreneur, his mother a consummate businesswoman. Arthur's powers manifested early when, as a child, he fell six stories from his home's window to the ground, without taking a scratch. When it was deemed that the boy was perfectly healthy, aside from apparently being indestructible, Arthur's parents decided to simply ignore it, though they kept it under wraps in order to keep Arthur out of the spotlight.

Despite his condition, Arthur grew up into a fairly normal, kind, well-adjusted individual. With tremendous drive and determination, Arthur's ambition was to make a name for himself aside from his inhuman nature- to take his family's business far and beyond what his parents would be capable of in their lives. He might have done so, too, if not for certain events.

They said it was a sort of freak accident- that the car simply wouldn't stop accelerating, carrying Arthur's parents to an untimely demise. But something about the case never sat well with Arthur- the authorities seemed too eager to close the case, to declare it an accident. No inquiries were made, a case barely opened at all- the death of the Garrows seemed destined to fade into the background. Enlisting the help of his brother, Arthur began to use his new-found considerable resources to conduct his own investigation... one that quickly led to Gideon being paralyzed in a similar accident to that of their parents'. Now, convinced that someone had something to hide, Arthur set off on his own, to avenge the assault on his family, and find the truth behind it. He was never seen again.

Two years have passed since Arthur D. Garrow, Jr. disappeared. And a new force has emerged in New Haven. Criminals, thugs, mob bosses alike have all been found murdered in disturbingly creative and impossible ways, frozen solid, crucified with icy blades, dismembered and preserved in blocks of ice. All killed by a force that will stop at nothing until his thirst for revenge has been satisfied.

For Arthur has died, and in his place, a terrible new threat. An angel of vengeance. The Destroyer. King of the bottomless pit.

Abaddon.

Hero Type: Elemental, possibly Supernatural

Power Level: World

Powers:

Nigh Invulnerability- One of the most obvious of Abaddon's powers. Quite simply, it is impossible to harm or even mark Abaddon with almost any means. Everything from bullets to military ordnance will simply be shrugged off. His body does not wear down with exertion, meaning he can fight on well past the limits of human (and most metahuman) endurance.
Super Strength- Whether a by-product of his invincibility or not, Abaddon's strength is several orders of magnitude above that of normal individuals.
Cryokinesis- The ability to manipulate water in all of its states. Ice, water, even vapor drawn from the air are all weapons for Abaddon to use.
Freezing Aura- Abaddon's signature ability. The ability to summon and manipulate an aura of blue flame-like energy that rapidly drains thermal energy from whatever it touches, freezing it in moments. The properties of the aura render him immune to thermal attacks while it is active, as it simply will absorb the energy in question.

Attributes:

Strength Level: 20 tons
Speed/Reaction Timing Level: Normal Human
Endurance at MAXIMUM Effort: Nigh-infinite. Seemingly has no limits to his endurance.
Agility: 15X
Intelligence: Genius
Fighting Skill: Mastered
Resources: Extreme

Weaknesses:

Lack of Moisture- Even with his impressive suite of powers, Abaddon's abilities are greatly diminished in the absence of liquid to manipulate.
Asphyxiation/Aerosol agents- Abaddon still needs to breathe, notwithstanding the fact that he can hold his breath for much longer than normal people. In addition, gasses and other such substances can still affect him outside of his suit.
No Anchor- Unlike similarly-powered individuals, Abaddon's invulnerability has no anchoring mechanism, meaning significant force can still send him flying.
Electricity- While it is unlikely to kill him, electricity can disrupt most of Abaddon's abilities, severely weakening him. Even ambient charge can mess with his powers in sufficient concentrations.

Supporting Characters:

Gideon Garrow- Arthur's younger brother, and one of the only people who knows of his civilian identity. Currently the CEO of Avalon Industries, in light of Arthur's apparent death.
Logan Frey- Arthur's live-in boyfriend. Also a metahuman, of the heroic variety. Character sheet inbound.
Dr. Elliot- A technopath in Arthur's employ. Designs the technology that Arthur uses in his encounter suit.
Mr. Butterfly- A dubious informant in Arthur's employ. Keeps him posted on the goings-on of New Haven's underworld.

Sample Post:
It was an unusually cold night in New Haven when Arthur made his first kill. But maybe that was because of him.

He chuckled to himself as he stared down at his "prey," ignoring the rain that thundered down on him. Drug dealers- scum of the worst kind, they had been seen loitering (at minimum) near the local high school. No prizes for guessing what they were up to. He hitched up the cloth mask around his face, lamenting his inability to find anything more suitable as a costume. Inwardly, after a time, he shrugged. It's been two years, anyway. It's not like anyone will be able to recognize me. And even if they did, no one would believe them- Arthur D. Garrow, Jr. was dead. No more. Finished. There was only him, now. The killer that got left behind.

As silently as he could, he dropped to the ground, bracing himself for the hunt.

---

It started with a laugh in the shadows- the dealers flinched at the sound. Cold, sharp... broken. Even the most hardened among them would have felt a chill at that sound. The trio pointed their weapons into the shadows, a tremor in their movements just barely noticeable.

"Who's there?" shouted one of them. The response to his question was another laugh, just as icy cold as before, from the other direction. The trio snapped into a loose circle, backs to one another, each pointing a weapon in a different direction- oddly coordinated for street thugs.

It wouldn't save them.

The air seemed to shimmer around them, and the rain started to shift into snow. The shimmer became a low glow, then a blue light. A tremor went through the soon-to-be victims as the light grew brighter, more tangible. All of a sudden, the light seemed to congeal into a flare of blue flame, and like a spark on dry wood, the very air seemed to ignite with the ghastly inferno. Wherever the flames touched, ice crusted thickly, on the walls, on the ground, anywhere. The three stared in terrified awe at the impossible bonfire as it swarmed them, curling around them, surrounding them.

A brief scream sounded from one of the two, before being cut off. The two whirled to find that their compatriot was gone.

Another scream. The remaining dealer screamed in horror, firing his gun indiscriminately into the whirling flames, gasping out pleas for mercy from whatever malevolent force had presently decided to victimize him. He started as his back hit something. Something warm in the icy maelstrom. He looked up into a masked face- one that seemed to be smiling nastily through the cloth.

"Hi."

The remaining dealer died screaming.
