How's that work exactly? Say I want a storyline where Jean runs into Victor Creed...do I just use him, ask permission first, ask the Logan player if there is one?
<Snipped quote by Ruby> As Morden just said that Wolverine is now up for grabs, I'd say go ahead and use Creed without worries.
I can confirm that yeah, no intention regarding the character. Just thought I'd poke my head up to officiate it. No harm meant, this is a fun one to read.
Due to scheduling issues with my personal life I have no way in hell to keep up with the pace of this game, and as such will have to bow out this time.
Damn man. We need like, a commemorative statue or something. Have fun.
Raven Darkholme, otherwise known as Mystique, has a very convoluted history about which very little is known, the exception being that she is over a century old and was most likely born somewhere in Austria.
She is a mutant with the ability to shapeshift with enhanced agility, elasticity, healing and stamina. A headstrong emotional force that seems to change her allegiances regularly, mainly centering on how current allies will benefit her and her immediate cause.
Whilst working as a mercenary, circumstances led Raven to an important figure in Wolverine's past, Victor Creed. It was on this mission she met Sabertooth. During their time together, unbeknownst to Sabretooth, they conceived a child - Graydon Creed. Raven immediately gave the child up for adoption, although she still kept track of him until he hit adolescence when it became apparent that he was not a mutant.
After years of affiliation with Professor Xavier, Mystique would decide to part ways with him after he announces the existence of mutants to the United Nations. Mystique believing he was putting Mutants at risk, believing they would become hunted rejects of society. Again acting on heat of the moment emotions based in her own insecurities.
After leaving in 2012 Mystique located her son Graydon Creed, whom she'd been keeping tabs on due to her guilt of abandonment. Upon finding him and revealing his heritage to two mutants her son rejects the news and begins to insight hate campaigns and riots against all mutants. He then went on to form The Friends of Humanity. When the Kelly act is passed in Congress, this is when Mystique endeavors to form the Brotherhood. She does with close aide of Pyro, Avalanche and Rose Wilson. After the failed attack on President Kelly, Graydon Creed uses this to rally more support for his cause, which in turn angers Mystiques and enhances the work of the brotherhood, gaining more mutant supporters alongside other villains who see the brotherhood as a rising power against the JLA.
At this point Mystique has concealed her mutant abilities so well that she is able to work for the United States Civil Service and eventually work her way up to the trusted position of Deputy Director of the Defense Advanced Research Planning Agency (DARPA) in the United States Department of Defense, giving her access to military secrets and advanced weaponry, both of which she used for her own criminal and subversive purposes. In order to help further her terrorist activities.
Supporting Cast:
Graydon Creed – Son of Sabretooth and Mystique, Graydon Creed developed a deep hatred of mutants due to both his parents abandoning him as a child after he was born human. As he grew older, he became a member of anti-mutant hate group Friends of Humanity and has affiliation with the Purifiers.
Avalanche - Has the ability to create vibratory waves that affects inorganic matter.
Rose Wilson – Precognitive abilities, escape artist, swordsmanships, stealth. Mystique has taken her under her wing as an adoptive daughter of sorts.
Pyro – Psionic ability to manipulate flame. Fiercely loyal to Mystique and the Brotherhood's cause.
How (if at all) does the New Frontier version of your character differ from the original?:
Mystique's causes will change throughout my plans for the story as they tend to in her comic appearances, however her main cause will be the hunt of her son. Also progressing on how the Brotherhood can affect the progression of the JLA, with a personal vendetta forming against Captain Marvel. So the differences are mostly circumstantial to the world at hand rather than intrinsic changes to the characters resolve or personality.
Graydon's character is different in that he has not risen to any form of official political power, and his death delayed at this juncture.
Rose Wilson will essentially both be taking the place of Rogue in Mystiques life, an adoptive daughter than begins to challenge her moral compass. Rose will also be of use where Destiny was previously a huge part of Mystiques life, as she too has precognitive abilities. Also lower level DC villains are planned to make an appearance with both the Brotherhood and Purifiers.

HISTORY
Logan's memory of events preceding 1999 are minimal at best; it fills me with surprise that he would be able to recount that which he already has - the extent of the period of time he spent in the wilderness could easily have driven a weaker man hideously, incurably mad. It is regretable to say we may never actualise an accurate picture of his whereabouts before this time. However, and with this in mind, here is an attempt at a history of the Wolverine: - James MacDonald Hudson
The man now known as Logan was first called James Howlett. Born to an influential family in a homestead in Alberta, he was a sickly, if normal child. He had two fierce companions, a boy - taller - the son of the groundskeeper and a girl who came to visit from the town from time to time. His time here it seems was relatively short, cut so in part by struggles with family. His mother had been sick for as long as he'd known her and the groundskeeper had been causing problems for his father. He believes that he left the family home after a violent altercation. While hardpressed to decipher it's nature, he remembers this to be when he discovered that he was more than human. He was a mutant, with fantastic abilities. He fled and never looked back, working odd-jobs when it suited. It wasn't until 1914 and the conflicts surrounding the First World War that he truly understood the nature of his abilities. Through no fault of his own, it was entirely possible that he was unable to die.
He fought his way through the better part of the twentieth century with little or no care for his own well being. He lived dangerously. He drank. He put himself in positions that would kill any normal man. He saved people, not for any selfless reasons but because he could. He wondered whether he was doomed to repeat himself for ever. He longed for an escape route. In 1984, that was provided.
It was at this, his lowest point that it seemed that his fortune's might have changed. He was approached by a suit with a unique proposition: join a team of mercenaries like yourself. Use your natural gifts in service of your country. He says yes and everything goes black.
The next thing he remembers to any degree of strength occurs more than a decade later. He remembers a pain like no other and simultaneously a feeling that there were eyes direclty scrutinising him. As he floats in that vat, diodes and needles like tendrils against restless skin, he burns with the pain of rage. In this novel autonomous moment - the first in a long time - the animal within, the creature they created takes charge. It lashes out. Unsheaving the claws they gave him, unable to understand them, he shatters his liquid cage and emerges, far more animal than man. In a rabid frenzy he leaps at the person nearest, bloodlust translating into actions. As the blood drips down he turns to the smell of fresh air. He had to get out. With all the heft the Weapon Plus program had, not a man put in his way could stop the Wolverine escaping. And escape he did, running deep into the forest.
He lived as such for a time. In a confused animalistic furvor he began to hunt alongside the wolf, shelter amongst the trees. Already wild, he could now be free. But this was no life. A man living as a dog. Thoughts of the life before tortured him as he grazed.
The period of the wild man ended with James Hudson.
Finding the pitiful creature while out one night, he took him home with him. With the help of his wife Heather in particular he was nursed back to health. Back to sanity. When that came, Logan a new man, the Hudsons offered to put him up for a while, until he found a job. When they learnt of his skills and abilities, as well as what little of his past he could remember, they made the offer. Wolverine became the newest operative of Department H, a top-secret organisation built as a peacekeeping agency in the heart of Canada. He has served off and on with the agency for the best part of ten years at the point in which out game begins. And not a sniff of a psychic professor to be seen.
SUPPORTING CAST
‣ JAMES MACDONALD HUDSON - Wolverine's friend and handler at Department H, Hudson spends much of his time chiding his charge for his lack of cooperation and recklessness. Having taken Logan in during his time of need, he feels responsible for his reassimilation into society and his success at Department H. He is one of the chief minds behind Alpha flight, believing there to be a need for Canada to represent themselves on the world stage following the creation and success of the Justice League. He recommended Logan for leadership of the team. He is married to his colleague Heather Hudson.
‣ HEATHER HUDSON - Heather played a significant role in nursing Logan back to health when her husband James returned home one night with a wild-man. The two share an unspoken attraction for each other, one that could threaten to destroy the two men's friendship were it acted upon. Heather works as a researcher for Department H, occasionally assisting Alpha Flight as Vindicator.
‣ DEPARTMENT H - Headed up by a nameless director, Department H is a clandestine organisation, ran as a branch of the Canadian government. It's charged with superhuman peacekeeping in relation to Canada and their national interests. They are responsible for the formation of Alpha Flight.
‣ The main difference between this take and the mainstream character is his continued employ under Department H and leadership of Alpha Flight. In this timeline, Professor Xavier never approached Wolverine with an offer to join a team of mutants to retrieve his X-Men from Krakoa, the Living Island. Logan never left Department H, never became an X-Man, never came to know and respect the man called Professor X. Wolverine will be trying his best to make good with his friends and teammates.
@Hexaflexagon I approved it a while back. I mustn't have tagged you. One of the pitfalls of having an active OOC thread, I guess, but yeah go ahead and get started.
And the JLA work out of Metropolis for the time being, people.
