Maybe I'll play Cyberpunk 2077 some more. My brother maxed out my character a year and a half ago. Haven't seen him since. Miss him.

”Mr. Dawson, why don't you have a seat?” He said, gesturing to the brown leather chair he had his hand resting on.

The men behind Adel stepped forward. They each placed a firm hand around his upper arms, half-guiding, half-dragging Adel to the seat. If Adel struggled in any way, their plan would have been quickly subduing him with a blow to the cheek - but besides tensing up, the man didn’t fight.

They shoved Adel into the seat, twisting it so it faced the mirror. Vincent still had that smirk on his face as he picked up a bowl of shaving cream and an applicator brush on the counter.

Slowly, methodically, Vincent applied shaving cream to Adel's face while speaking.

”Now, my men tell me that you and your spies have decided to make it your home in White Pine. Not that I care too much about that.”

He set down the bowl, picking out a barber's blade instead. He opened it, the fresh gleam of a clean, sharp blade within.

“What I really care about, though, is who set you up to do this.”

The blade pressed against Adel's neck as Vincent leaned over, staring at the man through the mirror.

”So, what'll it be, Canary? You gonna sing?”

Nocturnal Memoirs (2024)

"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

Evelyn was up early, but the kiss still gripped her chest and she was in no mood to talk to anyone. Last night burned freshly in her mind, and the shattered remains of the wine bottle could still be seen below her window. She felt cold, apathetically so.

Oh, and not to forget about the little panic of an 'intruder' last night, Evelyn didn't bother sticking her head out her study when the bell sounded. Rushed footsteps swept past her door, but she already knew whoever they were trying to find was long gone.

Considering the fact that a warm bath might loosen her up for her meeting with Kester, Evelyn summoned a servant to start her bath. She enjoyed her private bathroom, it had marble floors and a large, deep basin in elegant design that was ideal to soak in. After the servant derobed the elf and guided her to the tub, Evelyn requested that the blinds be drawn and for more candles to be brought in.

Sitting back neck-deep in steamy water, Evelyn remembered why she enjoyed baths in the semi-darkness. Little candlelights twinkled from all parts of the room, on tables and along the floor. Water lapped against her body, echoing off the stone walls in the quiet silence. She sighed, leaning her head back. Palace life had its perks, which she indulged occasionally. But the heat of the water could not melt away the chill at her core, and she frustratedly got out after twenty minutes and toweled herself off.

In freshly cleaned Mage robes, Evelyn put the gold earrings back in her pointed ears and ran a brush through her silvery hair. Cool eyes stared back at her from the mirror. She tried a smile, and although it felt hollow, the mirror convinced her she meant it. Satisfied, Evelen moved to her study and rang for a servant to bring up breakfast. She would take it in here while she waited for Kester. If he doesn't bother showing up I'll go see Lucius or something.
Wow, Wrens. Excellent sheets! With such powerful characters we'll be able to play with some very strong gods and magic. What exactly do you mean by a proper resting place for magical items, though?

Can't wait for your IC post. :3
I have a surprise for everyone in this next post. Btw, the Director is Vrail -- The alien who is capable of plunging our entire solar system into the jaws of a black hole-- just so everyone's on the same page. ;)

Oh yes, the red-streaked Vygorn makes a re-appearance!
Atlanta | Vex Kasim

The night's shroud grew heavy about the spire of Atlanta's highest skyscraper. Clouds descended in great wisps, swirling in a chaotic flow of air currents and red sparks of lightning. Anticipation charged the atmosphere; a dense, hateful anticipation that seemed to suffocate its city.

Within the highest room of the tower a knock sounded at the Director's door. A Vygorn with black hair and a red streak arrogantly walked into the dim room, taking the darkness in stride. His malevolent eyes glanced over the full-glass windows with their blinds drawn, the lone cup of coffee on the Director's enormous desk, and to his chair. It was huge, leather, and slowly rotating to face him. A shadowy silhouette filled its seat.

"What news do you bring me, Child?" A warped, metallic voice cracked the silence, speaking in a cold tone that reverberated from every part of the room.

Vex twitched, losing his arrogant grin. "Everything went according to plan. For, um, the most part. We were able to draw in the rest of those Kyra-lifers," He sneered at the word, "but our original hostages... Escaped."

A deafening silence was his only reply.

Swallowing, Vex continued. "Out of the lifers we attempted to neutralize, a handful got away. Five, to be precise. But the rest of them were taken down, and have been dealt with appropriately."

"How many did you crush?" The voice tore through his ears again, chilling Vex to his core.

"Four, Master. Earth, Fire, Lightning, and Air. Air is most... Lively. She won't tell us anything. But the others? Pah! Buckled to pain like nothing." Vex bared his teeth in a demonic smirk.

Warped scoffing emanated from the walls as the chair shook with the silhouette's laughter. Then it was quiet, deathly so. The Director's next words were chosen with cold malice.

"Kill them all."

Nature's Haven | Cora Rishaw

Cora chuckled as Will ran circles, keeping her front facing him constantly. He was enjoying himself, she could tell. With a smirk, she put an end to his ability to move freely, coating the stone beneath them in a thin layer of slippery ice. Her feet were unaffected, coated in ice themselves to keep her connected to the ground. But Will, he'd have to be careful.

In his first reactions to the change below his shoes, Cora used the distraction to her advantage and aimed to kick out one of his legs. It was a type of hook kick that would bring his leg forward and out from underneath him. In this motion she also aimed a sharp elbow to his chest in a further effort to knock him on his butt again as the two opposing attacks (and frictionless ground) would hopelessly offset his center of balance.

"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls of all ages welcome to tonight's showing of fist on face!" Yahtzee boomed with the showmanship of a circus announcer, and Cora couldn't help but feel a little unnerved. She was already nervous about testing herself with Fire (it wasn't just Yahtzee who could use the practice.) But she rationalized that her sketchin' would just help reflexes save her ass in a just moment.

A fist whirled toward her face, which Cora already began deflecting with a simple wrist movement. But out of the corner of her eyes she could see the flames igniting down his arm, and she leaned down and to the side as Yahtzee broke into fiery combustion. The explosive impact tossed Cora in the fire pit's direction, and she landed amidst the logs and passive Hygrons. She was scathed and covered in a few burn marks, but she shook off the pain. Unsure of what exactly happened, Cora struggled up from the hard land, mumbled a hasty apology to the men, and returned to the open area of the cave.

Yahtzee landed near the entrance of the cave, and he didn't waste a moment to come at her again, fully engulfed in flames. Great, my lucky day. Cora thought sarcastically (in an effort to not panic) while lowering the temperature severely below freezing around her hand. As Yahtzee's fist of fire came within inches of contact, Cora snapped her palm against his fist with lithe precision, holding on tight. Ice and Fire fluctuated and spit like mad, hissing with intense hostility. Cora winced, immediately feeling the heat. Using his own momentum against him, Cora ducked down, pulling on his hand with an iron grip at the same time. She shifted her body in a way that his high speed would send him rolling off her shoulder and onto the stone behind her. Everywhere he contacted was left ashened and searing.
I edited my sheet~! And I have half of my first post done. :)
Sorry about the delay, I had a full weekend. Let the fun and games continue~

@Ginger, Jab: Maybe Phil and Will can discuss the great plan for tomorrow while Cora practices with Yahtzee. Choose whatever city you want and we'll head there.

@Sync, Urukhai: It's okay if you don't make it to Haven before we leave in the morning, I'll make sure Yahtzee burns a message into the wall for you.

Edit: @Ginger: The OOC note just refers to our match being in the past IC-wise, and to not worry about the two times going on. XD
As Will shot the first ball of water, the air in the Haven dropped several degrees in temperature. Cora, seeing the impending stream of long-range water projectiles, raised her hand to the first ball. The water froze inches from her fingertips, fixated in an arcing shape of frozen droplets. Will's element aligned to her own, fluidly reversing its course to pierce through two of the incoming water balls. Cora took these extra seconds to diagonally roll to the side, closing most of the space between her and Will.

Still low to the ground from the roll, Cora rotated in such a way that her entire motion spurred from a single anchoring foot as her other leg came up in a sweep across Will's abdomen. Assuming Will would simply back up, she followed through with this attack, placing her sweeping foot down as the new anchor. In a 360 degree twist, her back leg swung up in a powerful roundhouse straight for Will's center point. At this point she was fully standing, hands steady and on guard.

[OOC: We'll determine this in the next few posts.]

Yahtzee applauded their match, giddy enthusiasm echoing his words. He was interested in testing himself, from what Cora could see. "I would appreciate anything you could show me."

The earnest look in his eyes wasn't hard to miss, and Cora smiled. Despite her natural dislike of fire, she couldn't turn down more practice. The thrill of anticipating opponents, especially expressive ones that knew how to fight was something she truly reveled in. Will was a perfect opponent and, now that she had a taste, Cora eagerly awaited their next training session. Heart still racing and muscles limber from the match, she nodded. "You got guts, Yahtzee. I'd like to see what you can do, and I know how you can go all-out."

Considering the possibility of burnt clothing, Cora unzipped her black hoodie and peeled it off, wearing a simple double-strap dark tank top underneath. She walked to the circle of logs around the fire pit, draping the hoodie off her seat. She noticed Phil creating a great shimmer of light, and took a step closer to see more. He was using one of the ice cups as a prism, scattering little rainbows across the rock walls. Cora couldn't remember the last time she had seen a rainbow, or so many colours. The light show captivated her attention, and her face held a sense of wonder.

"Ice eventually melts, but if you ever want a prism, Phil. You just let me know. This is beautiful." She said, giving Phil a thoughtful glance.

Returning to the flat space by the fire pit, Cora stood opposite of Yahtzee. Her bare skin took on a paler hue as ice coated itself in a thin sheet over her arms and face. The frost decorated her body in reflective fractal patterns that would buffer most (but not all) of Yahtzee's element.

"Alright, Yahtzee, I'm ready. Come at me however you want, don't worry about hurting me." Cora half-grinned, keeping her weight on the balls of her feet.
Cora winced as Phil was struck dead in the jaw. Will's water gloves buffered most of the impact; he could have hit much harder. Of course, Phil was automatically at a disadvantage since he didn't have the sun to back him up as his natural source of power.  Cora should have taken that into consideration -- it totally slipped her mind.

She walked by Phil as he returned to his seat, giving his shoulder a pat. "You did good, Phil. The Vygorns will have their hands full once we're ready to kick ass."

Standing off from the fire pit, across from Will, Cora held a loose cat stance. Her weight was shifted on the ball of her back foot, her other foot pointed toward Will. Her hands were up in open palms, steady and still. It all instantly appeared in her mind again, all the training she absorbed from her few years in the dojo, all the skirmishes she was a part of in the Atlantian slums. She had to trust her body, and trust her instinct.

Her eyes flickered up from Will's chest just for a moment, and she took in his face. The same face that looked back at her on the other side of the bars, back when they were locked in the alien bastards' tent. A swell of gratitude bubbled up within her, and she smiled. "Your move, Will. No holding back."
Very entertaining match, there'll have to be round two when we reach one of the suburban cities. :3

My post will be up soon~
Revealing character weakness makes me believe in them. That's like, one of the important bits.

Just sayin.
