Maybe I'll play Cyberpunk 2077 some more. My brother maxed out my character a year and a half ago. Haven't seen him since. Miss him.

”Mr. Dawson, why don't you have a seat?” He said, gesturing to the brown leather chair he had his hand resting on.

The men behind Adel stepped forward. They each placed a firm hand around his upper arms, half-guiding, half-dragging Adel to the seat. If Adel struggled in any way, their plan would have been quickly subduing him with a blow to the cheek - but besides tensing up, the man didn’t fight.

They shoved Adel into the seat, twisting it so it faced the mirror. Vincent still had that smirk on his face as he picked up a bowl of shaving cream and an applicator brush on the counter.

Slowly, methodically, Vincent applied shaving cream to Adel's face while speaking.

”Now, my men tell me that you and your spies have decided to make it your home in White Pine. Not that I care too much about that.”

He set down the bowl, picking out a barber's blade instead. He opened it, the fresh gleam of a clean, sharp blade within.

“What I really care about, though, is who set you up to do this.”

The blade pressed against Adel's neck as Vincent leaned over, staring at the man through the mirror.

”So, what'll it be, Canary? You gonna sing?”

Nocturnal Memoirs (2024)

"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

I'M McLOVIN' THE NARRATIVE BETWEEN THEMA AND GILFRED RIGHT MEOW! :D
@Allen:

//is posting tomorrow. Heads up - Jaska's innocence might be ruined. Might.
That'll eventually bring conflict against Wrens and Evelyn, as she's looking to make money off these things. And when we get there, I'm going to enjoy the drama as much as I can. =w=

Linked your CSes into the OOC opener, and I posted. So far so good!
Evelyn Keove

Caught up in the music from the live band playing to her left, Evelyn's thoughts drifted away from the tavern. For a strange moment, she contemplated the vast distance she was from her Elven home. It wasn't something she often thought of as magic brought a lack of interest in almost everything but her relic questing. But it hung at the back of her mind like a teething memory, chewing at her. Debating the 'why' was quickly dispelled as she was interrupted.

"Pleasant evening miss. I do not believe we have crossed paths before."

Evelyn heard the stranger coming up the stairs before she glanced up. People often didn't impress her, but she found herself quite curious when a dark-cloaked figure joined her on the second floor. He looked nothing like the common rabble of Bastille, holding himself with a traveller's care. His eyes caught her off guard most, she swore they were hiding something marvelous. With a smile she replied, "No. No, I don't believe we have."

Taking her glass off the wood railing, the elf stole a sip before continuing. "My name is Evelyn Keove, a wood elf from the ancestral forests of Althaes. I'd tell you why I'm here but," She gestured to the floor below them, "I have a feeling everyone's been reading the new posters. I'm an adventurer looking for some hired help."

She chuckled, waving her hand in a joking manner. "Oh, but how rude of you, you didn't introduce yourself. What's a shadowy traveller like you doing at the cross roads of Ravenfell?"

Mattien Arior

Argorn's obscene snoring on the collapsed tables got him a swift boot out of the Inn, and there he would remain passed out in the street until morning. Mattien debated pulling the drunk's pants down on his way out, but thought better of it. All the tavern regulars knew Argorn was just a sour idiot, he was harassed enough for that.

Standing in front one of the Battle Mage's posters again, Mattien re-read it, frowned, and tore it off the wood pillar. The poster folded and tucked nicely into his belt pocket. After a few weeks off the road he was itching for action and coins; this would be the perfect opportunity for him. He'd blow the competition away too, ensuring there would be more gold for himself. He heard of kings paying outrageous sums for old swords with a proven link to their lineage. It sounded like easy money if one could defend themselves like he could. Dungeons were no match for him and Ra-Shin's bloodlust. And with his skill, he was very assured of his spot beside the Mage.

Imagining his pockets overflowing with gold coins, Mattien chugged back one last mug of ale, slamming the cup on the counter. His speech was slightly slurred as he tossed a coin by his mug. "This Battle Mage is gonna make me a rich Breton, just you watch!"

With that drunk statement he staggered down the hall to his rented room on the first floor, closing the door. The bed heaved under his weight as he collapsed on top, quickly passing out.
Her elbow connected effectively, sending Will down. But with some incredibly fast foot play he regained his balance, crouched carefully around the ice rink. Cora, surprised she didn't see the follow-through of Will falling on his ass, glanced down just as his arm came up. Not having the time to dodge, Cora moved to buffer the blow as her arms crossed her face, palms up. The water-intense uppercut connected, knocking her back.

Countering the moment she could, Cora sent a quick left hook to Will's face, rolling with her momentum in another full 360 degree twist to come at him again with a flying spin kick. The first kick aimed a solid swipe at his guarding arms, then she spun once more, jumping to gain a few inches as her foot streaked toward Will's temple.

***

Cora turned on her heel, stepping into a defensive stance, ready for Yahtzee's next demonstration. Ice cracked with a sharp, hollow sound under her foot. Apart from the few ashy burns that seared her body and bruises from the fall, she felt well enough. Yahtzee intrigued her so far, but he'd have to show more variety in his moves to be truly effective. Not that his element needed that, it was a natural anti-life.

You know you're a pro-roleplayer when you've got two times going on. ;)
I'll hopefully have a post up tonight/tomorrow.
Hehe, awesome. Stoned Aislin is always fun company. >w>
Adam's assesment spurred a reverence in her. Emotion?! She thought, eyes wide. How did I not think of that? All this time she had focused on separating emotion from intention, thinking that was part of the key in the function of her ability. But if not... Emotion could really get her places. Love, she looked forward to experimenting with that. But anger? Even if it would be more offensive, stronger, whatever -- Anger didn't float her boat. She was a peace-loving Taoist, anger didn't factor into that. It was a lack of control, that emotion. But if Adam saw potential, she'd give it a go.

What surprised her most was when he mentioned she could have alternate bodies/consciousnesses. What does that even mean? She could barely wrap her head around it, and the whole idea both intrigued and freaked her out. Would I be able to return to my real body? What happens if the animation dies while I'm inside? She bit her lip, coming up with horrid answers to her questions.

Regardless, Adam helped her see how much potential her ability had (when she originally thought her growing potential was zero) and she thanked him earnestly. She was the last student assessed; Capture the Flag was right around the corner.

The fact that Deborah the planner was on their team didn't change much. As she usually did, Aislin hung around the back of the playing field, pretending to be an excellent defense when all she wanted was to get this game over with and watch everyone else do that hard work. That was, at least, until the power went out. Stuck in the darkness with a bunch of power-crazy Metas (Amanda, mostly) was a very scary thought.

Alex's bright eyes lit like a beacon in the darkness, and Ailsin's fear abated. It wasn't long after when a huge smash shook the ground, blue light arcing across the field for just a moment. In that instant, Aislin could see everything. Silhouettes all around her, up on the tower blocks and -- Shit, even the walls? The darkness returned quickly, and the knowledge in the light was shrouded once more.

That was when the creepy crawlies started falling from above. How did she know they were bugs and not little pebbles? They felt like husks, and they felt dry and dead. Bodies had a different feel than inanimate objects. Aislin shuddered uncontrollably, thoroughly disgusted from the thought of bugs landing on her. Dead bugs. "Eww, goddamit!"

Well, at least the Amanda bitch didn't like it either. It was hard to miss her voice bitch across the field. Aislin smirked in her own disdain.

The laser light show was cool, especially in the dark. Red shots of light mixed with star power that Aislin had a feeling belonged to her roommate. If they were using it as a distraction, it was working. But of course, it was around that time Adam pulled plug, declaring Team One the winner. Scoffing, Aislin departed from the field and changed out of her suit. What a shit show...

Switching back into her comfy skirt and graphic tee, Aislin slipped on her Aviators and stepped outside. The sky was full and embraced her in its warmth. Finally, the end of classes. God, today felt like it would never end. And now that she was here, she knew what she wanted to do. Something she had anticipated earnestly all day: The 218 Jungle Tour led by none other than the Lizard Professor, their dearest Henry.

It took some time to make her way through the school's large outdoors, but she eventually ended up by the impressive gates at the school's entrance. The Jungle opened up beyond that, just waiting to be explored. Aislin had a feeling she was early, so she leaned up against the jungle trees just outside the school's perimeter, and pulled out a candy-wrapped joint from one of her pockets. Keeping her promise to Deborah, Aislin wasn't smoking during class hours, plus she was technically standing in jungle territory. Fuck school rules.

With a puff off her honey bud Aislin finally relaxed, staring up at the jungle canopy with a smile.
You'll have to teach him a lesson, Jab. XD
