This is more respectful, actually. It's like how you don't like people taking over others' characters. They're trying to make it their own, instead of trying to replicate the previous writer's style. It would be disrespectful to try to copy someone's style after their death, moreso than taking things in a slightly different direction, especially if it's only dialogue choice.
Saying this having not seen RWBY for seething hatred moral the producers suck personal reasons.
On the contrary, if I died and MR lost all of its regulations, and I knew about it, I would consider it a disgrace.
