im curious as to how these 'new' captains will come to the scene. will they be recently appointed to their positions or will they hold some sort of tenure?

Like what David said, assuming Juki brought them in.....They're just place-holders really, nothing permanent.
Though it's more than likely they've been in their position for a while, not just now being assigned them.

"Back, boss!" Hikari heard Haruka call out which caused him to turn around, "Like I said, you don't have to address me like that. I honestly don't feel comfortable with being called boss, Lieutenant would be better," Hikari said as he rubbed the back of his neck again, something he seemed to do quite a bit. He looked at Hyperion then Haruka, "We'll be heading back to district 65, there was something there that caught my eye once I found that Tatsuki guy," Hikari said before looking at Hyperion, "Now, I think it's best if we move out now." Hikari then began walking off expecting those two to follow along.

Once at District 65 Hikari took the two to the warehouse where he found Tatsuki, he then looked at the floor before activating his Shikai. He tapped the floor then nodded, as he thought when Takeshi came at him, "Floor is hiding something underneath." Hikari then lifted his large Shikai and slammed down on the ground causing dust to fly everyone and causing the ground to shake. Without a word Hikari then jumped down the hole, landing in an underground lab in which people were building fake dogs. There were also locked up hollow.

"Ah, so this is where they've been coming from," Hikari said as some of the people down there began running towards a back door causing Hikari to point his Shikai forward, "Not so slow now.....Hōsui jū!" The water shot forward and made it's way past all the people running and shot into the door. A crater then formed blocking off the exit.

A(n) (Ex)Shinigami then walked up taking off it's glow, a green mist rising from his right hand. He began walking towards the three, "You dare destroy the evolution between Shinigami and Hollow? Well, I guess that means I'll just have to teach you a lesson."

Safi

"Safi there's a Lieutenant there," A woman said as she walked behind the man named Safi, "You're foolish to think you could take him alone, and with two others there."

Surin

"Let me take the Lieutenant, I'm the strongest here," A man said as he stepped forward smirking, "Safi you go after the scrub, Surin you the bitch."

Vahan

"Got it Vahan," Surin and Safi said at the same time as they charged Hype and Haruka. Meanwhile Hikari and Vahan charged each other.

"....Well anyways, Haruka, if you'd follow," Hikari said as that weird interaction ended. Hikari began walking and soon they came across an empty room in which Hikari opened the door, "Once you get settled meet me back at where we were." Hikari then walked away, putting his hands into the opposite sleeves as he began thinking of a mission. The one he had in mind wasn't anything official but it'd work out, plus they'd be doing something better than just clearing out Hollows although that was a situation that could be handled as well. Maybe after the current mission, the two new ones need expirence and, well....Hikari could use a little action himself.

"I see, that's interesting. Once again though, sorry for hitting you that hard, but atleast you can take something from this....Uh, I'm not sure what that is yet but we'll find that out," Hikari said with a chuckle, once Hyperion pointed out someone was there Hikari looked behind him seeing Haruka, speak of the devil. He also saw the pup eating which put a smile on his face seeing Haruka taking good care of him.

Hikari walked up to Haruka, "Hey Haruka, would you be up for a mission?....I apologize for getting straight to the point, did you have something you wanted to talk about beforehand?" Hikari said, quickly noticing how he came off, he wanted to give Haruka chance to say what she wanted before he brought her along on a mission.
