Current You'd think after like 15 years I'd stop feeling like a fraud when writing posts but I still do which is both a statement on my self confidence and a compliment to how good my partners are as writers

So... because the only person that did have any isn't around, and because Kotone is probably a walking anathema to the dress code, I have concluded that she probably has pierced ears. And that diamonds are involved. :O

Real diamonds? :O

Why did Did no one recognize Sazh or Vanille when they were basically the monsters? It's been awhile, but their world seemed to miss depth in comparisons to the other worlds of the FF13 series which is usually slowly explained through townspeople.Especially now there is apparently God which is never mentioned :T

You mean when Sazh and Vanille went to Nautilus? Because at that point, the only one who knew the identity of the l'Cie was Dysley and his Sanctum troops. It wasn't until AFTER they caught Vanille and Sazh that they broadcasted the identities of the whole cast to Cocoon because at that point Dysley wanted them to spring his trap, which they did.

The world of 13 has a shocking amount of depth and lore to it. Like, there is a whole bunch of lore surrounding the culture and the religion and the beliefs of Cocoon and Pulse. There have always been gods in the 13 universe, both Lindzei and Etro were mentioned by name, and Bhunivelze, the God of Gods, was alluded to in the Analects of 13. Bhunivelze was given a name in 13-2, but he existed before then. Bhunivelze is the one who created Pulse, Lindzei, and Etro. Pulse made Gran Pulse, Lindzei made Cocoon, and Etro was the goddess of death.

All of the 13 games can basically be summed up with "The gods are ASSHOLES"

Because it's a JRPG and that's how it is.

Well they weren't exactly by choice xDBut that's why I dislike FF13-2 and FF13 Lightning returns. There was already little much explained in the first one and now they try and throw curveballs to surprise you. It doesn't. It just annoys me and thinks they have poor writers. But I didn't enjoy the story all together anyway. I enjoyed the battle system in the first one when you could see the monsters and go up to them. That Lightning got development more then her counterpart in FF7 (but seems to have lost a bit in LR.. But that can be excused with no emotion thing) and that it was pretty. The clothes changing would be fine if they didn't have to make the outfits skimpy unless it made sense. Why does a black Mage need skimpy clothing? I would of liked her wearing a black full body clothes. But I suppose apparently you can change that so meh. Still a mandatory change if you want it.Second one I liked for the fact it tried to give you better exploration and... Oh talking to people in cities and doing side quests. In exchange we get Serah.... And she was okay, but she felt wimpy. That and your stuck with her and Sora alike the whole time. Though I also enjoyed the battle system with the monsters.LR so far I'm not enjoying the battle system. Probably won't enjoy the story like normal. And apparently it's pretty short too. But then again, the FF13 series weren't very long so meh. XD

What wasn't explained in 13? Everything in 13 was explained.

13-2 was when stuff got really really stupid.

Also the black mage outfit isn't skimpy. There aren't a lot of skimpy outfits in Lightning Returns. A large portion of them are downright modest.

(Sorry, I'm the worst kind of FF13 fan)

Snow would be an annoying guy to have to marry, but him trying to be the hero all the time would be even more detrimental as a partner in battle. Luckily for her things turned out alright. Didn't hope try to kill one of his own partners? And whine a whole lot? Fang is a good partner, at least by comparison. Although I heard her voice acting is dull in the Japanese version. I feel sorry for them in that regard. Not that I'm tearing into FF13. It was a fine game, I suppose.

Hope's character arc is misinterpreted as him whining all the time. It's not true. The kid, and keep in mind he is thirteen years old in FF13, is forced into this mass genocide by the government that keeps him safe just because he was on vacation at the wrong time. To top it off, his mother dies because Snow is a major screw up and when trying to show off, Hope's mom died protecting Snow's ass. From Hope's perspective, all he saw was Snow drop his mother to her death. Combine this with the fact that he's now on a ticking clock due to getting mixed up in the l'Cie business, he has no idea what to do. The life he knew is shattered. The government wants him dead for things that were beyond his control, and the guy responsible for the death of his 'anchor' if you will is walking around acting like everything is fine. Hope used Snow's death as motivation to keep it together mentally, he used it to get strong enough, to overcome his fears and his doubts about everything. It's when he finally realizes, thanks both to Lightning and Snow, that he was using Snow as a means to run away from reality (just like every one of the main characters in 13, it's one of the central conflicts) does he 'man up' and face his problems head on.

He's not whining. He's a kid coping.

Sarah has poor choice in partners? Lightning had Hope and Snow on her team.

Lightning isn't engaged to Snow, though. Serah is. Serah is also friends with a guy who can't get over the whole Yeul thing.

Also Hope is fine. He's a good kid.

But Lightning also had Fang on her side. And it's Fang!

Sarah is a better protagonist, I think. And she's more attractive. Wait a minute...*checks the wiki page for her age*...Yep! I can say that. :)

Serah has poor choice in partners though. Plus I like her game less.

Fang is the protagonist we need.

Oh, Fang, if only.

*sigh*

Uncharacteristic much?Hmm...and no comment on my possible yuri dating sim game? Well you won't get one now. Harumph! *crosses my arms*

Lightning has one characteristic: Stoic

The whole game so far has been Lightning pretty much rolling her eyes and being annoyed with every single person she talks to because all of them dump their silly problems in her lap. So when she says "I feel like singing and dancing" imagine it coming from someone who sounds even more bored than Paine.

So it's pretty in character.

*shrug* for me I don't care for it. Sure, it's a nice extra, but I don't like that it's a mandatory change. I don't mind doing customs in the second play through, but first play through I like keeping it original to the outfit. Unless the story line purposely goes "oh they need new clothes in this adventure cause theirs got dirty or ripped"Which is why I love Tales of Xillia :3 plus coop. I do like FF13, it's just meh for me compared to most of the others. Especially when there is three of them and they could of easily ended it in the first. and that each time starting the other two left me "wtf?"So I shall enjoy Tales. But I'll play FF13 Lightning returns too

They do explain why Lightning gets to wear different outfits, and it's kind of mandatory to be swapping between them in battle or else you're not going to win against enemies.

As far as the storyline in the 13 series goes, the second one already trampled over the themes and canon of the first so now this third one is just pretty much anything goes. At this point the 13 series is so far removed from the events of 13 that it may as well not even carry the 13 name.

X-2's job system was pretty much a magical girl thing, though. And magical idols have been a thing in the magical girl genre for a while, so yeah. And the Songstress isn't even a combat class, it's for buffing your allies, so that criticism is kind of... Invalid, really....I loved X-2. It was so campy and fun and silly. XD

Did I mention that in Lightning Returns you can wear X-2 Yuna's outfit and Lightning will remark on how she feels like singing and dancing and the X-2 victory fanfare plays?

Silver Fox said
I just don't like how they went clothes changing for job classes again <.< and that it's only lightning and it's timed (not as bad now that I know the Ark isn't effected) but still deters me from exploring. But at least she's not singing randomly in battle. XD

It's not so much classes so much as it is customizing clothing with abilities you determine. Just because I just so happen to have my Lightning looking like this:

And I made this into a physical warrior type class (because she's a bodyguard in a snazzy suit and the Buster Sword because I dunno) someone else could go ahead and put their Lightning into something like this:

And be the same type of use as my snazzy suit Lightning. It's not really a JRPG. It's a closet simulator AND I AM GOING TO GET ALL OF THE CLOTHES.

Seriously, I love the game just because I can use a giant sword and chop things in a dress.

Catgirls from FF14? Yep!

You can have Lighting wear a Lightning mask.

This is the kind of dumb I love in Japanese video games.
