Fiona could see Nelly glance in her direction and give her what could be best described as a sympathetic look, which did little to improve her overall mood. She knew her friend wouldn’t want her to sulk even if it was something she was oh so good at. Nelly was almost the personification of boundless energy after all, and she loved to share her joy with those around her as best she could. It was one of her most endearing qualities, and even if it did drive Fiona round the twist sometimes, she wasn’t always appreciative of her friend's enthusiastic attempts to draw her out of her shell, as it was usually a little overwhelming. She was still glad to be seen as someone worth trying to include, which was new to her.

Nelly started talking about her time at camp, which was easily the longest of the three and offered to answer any questions Morne might have about the camp. Between the two of them, she was by far the better choice as she’d not only been here longer, but she also actively engaged with everyone, whether they wanted her to or not, so she had a much better understanding of the social interaction than Fiona did. She could imagine her Mother’s disappointment in her lack of knowledge, which caused a faint smile to play on her lips before she took a slow drink of her whiskey.

"Oh, Dionysus huh? How cool! I guess you really know your alcohol huh? My dad is Hermes. The messenger of the gods, known for being fast. I once did race him, didn't have a chance hehe, but I am still pretty fast. Fiona here can vouch for that. And yeah, you can join us.”

Fiona returned her friend's smile and nodded her head once while she made a noise that sounded vaguely affirmative in response to Nelly’s thinly veiled attempt to bring her into the conversation. As for Nelly inviting him to join them, it felt almost superfluous since he’d joined them regardless of the answer, but there wasn’t a great deal she could really do about that without just getting up and leaving. And while she wasn’t bothered so much about making a scene, least of all whether it made Morne think less of her, she didn’t want to cause issues between her and Nelly.

I know too well about favoritism,’ Morne's reply to her bitter commentary came across as joke, which seemed to be his intention, but something about how he’d said it made her look at him a little more closely as he continued to speak.

While the mention of his drink-making ability piqued her interest a smidge, but he didn’t elaborate, and she wasn’t gripped by a desire to inquire further before he moved on to another topic. ‘I think I remember them bringing up all the Gods and stuff in high school English class’ which made her think back to her own knowledge of the gods, which was patchy at best. However, she’d looked into them a little more after her mother started making her life more miserable by trying to be involved.

Can you vouch for that doll?’ Calling her doll had been unexpected and unwelcome, which was not improved by the cocky smirk that he’d accompanied it with. She could feel her fingers twitching in her lap as she took a steadying breath before answering, while she repeated a calming mantra in her head as she clicked her tongue. Don’t kill him, don’t kill him, don’t kill him.

"Christ, you don’t let up, do ye?” She chuckled and took another sip of her drink before continuing "I don’t know ‘bout school, never went really. Never stayed long enough for that. But me granda would tell us old tales most nights. Stuff like Cú Chulainn, Anansi, and that. Mainly I remember ‘bout the Greek myth was Zeus couldn’t keep it in his pants.” Though as she finished speaking her eyes narrowed as she noticed his focus had shifted to something behind her over at the bar.

Though before she could react, Nelly had leant forward, waving her hand in front of his face to get his attention "Hey, Earth to Morne. You still there? Do you know those campers?" Fiona couldn’t help but smile, and felt the tension drain away before she glanced over to see who it was they were talking about.

Yeah, the one is my sister. Amorey. She left me in middle of the fucking woods earlier which is why I got here so late,’ Fiona giggled at that admission from him before making a comment while he was drinking from his can. "Can’t imagine why she’d have done that.” She gave him a resigned smile, attempting to be amicable for Nelly’s sake, even if his next words caused her to groan as she tried not to laugh and lean back in her chair with a muttered curse about corny pickup lines. Though, despite that she couldn’t exactly remember the last time anyone had called her pretty, whether they meant it or were just trying to get laid.

Like Morne, she couldn’t place the newcomer speaking with his sister, though the party appeared to be filling up with more and more strangers every time she looked around. ‘I bet you know a lot more campers, who are the people you’d recommend?’’ Morne had asked Nelly casually while he looked round the party before glancing in Fiona’s direction. ‘And how about you? You don’t seem as friendly and social, but I bet you would know one or two more than this sweetie.

She shrugged and nodded towards Nelly "I ain’t got many people queuing up to know me, really. Nell’s sweet, alright, and one o’ the few ta have bothered and not just told me ta fuck off.” She jabbed her thumb from the hand not cradling her drink over towards Duke. "Him an all, between them is probably the extent of ma social circle, mores a line really. The rest is at best Nell’s friends who, maybe, tolerate me, but she’s best to tell you ‘bout them than I could.”

Veronica gave Sofia a sheepish grin after the other girl had given her a friendly chastisement for having downed her two shots in quick succession, though internally, she was berating herself as her self-control was eroding a little with the alcohol already. She was glad the other girl was taking their agreement so seriously, though she didn't want to become a burden for her either, even if they'd said they were going to look out for one another.

She nodded along as Anatoliy praised both of their names and then assured her that she’d done nothing wrong with how she’d taken her shots. ”Thank you, I think your name is pretty unique as well. And I suppose not, I’m just a little out of practice.”

Got here sometime this morning’ he said while pouring himself another shot. ‘I was trying to leave but people stopped me, I didn’t mean that — ’ he seemed to be getting a little flustered as his words tripped over themselves, his face starting to burn red as he spoke. ‘Niet, I meant, I did mean that. I didn’t mean to say that outloud, I’m sorry,

She gave Anatoliy a reassuring smile after he stopped speaking to have his shot, and when she spoke, her voice took on a faint French accent at first before returning to her normal tone ”C'est la vie, don’t apologise. I’m sure we’ll all be glad you stayed, though hopefully you don’t feel kidnapped or anything... that might be awkward.”

He asked them if they’d been enjoying camp, and Veronica wasn’t sure how to answer that, since as far as camp events had been breaking some bones and most of her body being covered in bruises was not exactly fun. She was glad to hear that Sofia was enjoying her time here so far, and she was curious to know more about Anatoliy’s experience of camp so far would be, especially since he’d apparently already tried and failed to leave. She wasn’t certain if that was cause for unease or not, without knowing what had happened.

Her focus on her new friends kept drifting away and further down towards the other end of the bar where the woman who’d caught her eye earlier was standing, though she now appeared fully engrossed in conversation. And Veronica felt her heart sink a little more when yet another new camper engaged the pair. It was completely irrational since their fingers had barely even touched, and a single shared glance shouldn’t have left such a warm flush as it had, but perhaps it was because of how natural it had felt rather than the result of her influence.

She was brought out of her little reverie as she noticed Anatoliy’s face twist into an expression that she couldn’t quite make sense of, so she turned to look to see what had caught his eye. Her hand shot up almost instantly to cover her mouth while her face flushed a bright pink, and her eyes widened in shock as she took in what was occurring a little further down the bar. Blair’s outfit alone had made her feel a little flustered when she’d first seen it, but the scene now was bordering on the obscene. Yet she couldn’t seem to tear herself away from it, even if that made her feel slightly voyeuristic. Sofia, however, seemed to be actively trying not to acknowledge the pair at all, let alone watch what they were up to.

I didn’t realize it was that kind of party,’ Veronica looked away from the pair’s intimate moment, her mouth feeling uncomfortably dry ”No... I didn’t... Either.” She watched the pair as they slipped away from the bar, their intentions clear.

I guess you get to see a little bit of everything at these parties?

”I... suppose? I’ve been at camp a few months now, and this is, well, my first party. And it’s not what I expected it to be.” She wasn’t sure what she had been expecting exactly, maybe getting to know some of the other campers better. Though not that kind of better... even if it had been invigorating.

The press of bodies was growing thicker by the moment, and the mix of alcohol along with the ‘entertainment’ being provided by Blair was getting overwhelming. Though overall it was giving her flashbacks to a night that had led to a suspension back in high school, and a reminder not to let herself give in to temptation. Though that was a little hard, as she kept thinking that by now the stranger would most certainly be another conquest for the child of Athena.

She looked over the assorted bottles, thinking she’d get herself an actual drink and maybe pull back from the crowd before she gave into the temptation of attractive strangers, such as the smiling man now standing behind the bar. Veronica felt herself smiling as she let herself indulge in a little appraisal of him pouring out fresh shots with a much more practised ease than Blair had done, given the mix of coloured layers. There was certainly a pull to ask if he could mix her something up, though, before she could decide one way or another, his attention was caught by yet another new arrival; a young man with hair that looked as if he’d been dragged through a bush. He’d taken a seat and was asking for a glass of water.

Veronica felt herself giggle, wondering what their newly appointed bartender would make of that. She picked up a bottle and poured herself about two shots of Malibu into a glass that she topped up with Coke, dropping a single straw in to finish it off. Drink in hand, she took a step or two away from the press of bodies and looked over at Anatoliy and Sofia.

”Sofia and I were trying to decide where to go next, since the night in young as she keeps telling me.” She nodded vaguely towards the sledging hill before glancing at the food table when her stomach rumbled in answer ”though I think food is definitely in my future.”

Nelly had certainly sounded a lot more welcoming to their uninvited guest than Fiona had been, though that hadn’t deterred him much, sadly. Even so, she'd raised her glass and nodded towards him in greeting since Nelly had already given him both of their names. Fiona could only shake her head in amusement and smile over at Nelly while she listened to her confusion at trying to make sense of the stranger’s words and asking to be clued in.

"I love ya Nell, but y’is such a sweet summer child sometimes.” Fiona said with a sigh as she gave the other girl a light pat on the shoulder.

He'd introduced himself to them as Morne before continuing to lavish his charm upon them both, though Fiona narrowed her eyes slightly as he had offered his hand to Nelly but pointedly chose not to do the same to her. Which had felt like an unnecessary dig at her, given this was their first interaction and only served to lower her own interest in anything further.

Fiona looked around the other tables, watching as Iliana took her leave of Duke and headed away, wondering if she ought to bother him herself before Morne drove her completely mad. Already, the sound of his smarmy voice, all honey and lies, was having her plot murder behind her eyes.

Can I sit down with you girls? You seem like a great bunch to be around,’ Morne asked them, though clearly directing it more towards Nelly before taking the seat next to her without waiting for a reply. Fiona made a disgruntled harrumph and shrugged her shoulders to signify both her disapproval and disinterest, since while addressing both of them, he’d obviously decided to ignore her each time he talked. She wasn’t massively social, given that most people tended to find her a little too prickly at first glance, but his comments or lack thereof were needling her a little all the same.

Also, I am the son of Dionysus. The god of alcohol or whatever, I really don’t care for him, but I guess that might be important at camp? You know? Since like the gods have different reasons for being and everything

She scoffed at Morne in response "Depends, suppose it might. Though it ough’ta be more important what you’re capable of rather than who your parent fucked. But some a' the gods are favourites and others ain’t. Sadly.”

She cast her gaze back over to Duke in hopes of an escape and was dismayed to see that he’d been joined by another of the existing campers; who she was vaguely sure was called Slorne or Slane? No, that wasn’t it. She’d remembered talking to Nell, well, being talked at by Nell about who was who, even if it was a little hard to follow given the other girls' tendency to race through things. But she’s said her name was Sloane and she was Sylas’s sister, which, looking at her, there were definitely clues to it. She’d never really spoken to Sloane as whenever their paths were due to cross, they always seemed to go other ways around camp, and there was also Sylas’ incensed reaction to her earlier to consider. That could colour Sloane’s view of her negatively, though, hadn’t Nell said something about her and Lochlan having been a thing or something?

Fiona sighed to herself, finished her glass and reached under the table and into one of the shadows to withdraw a bottle from the pair she’d sequestered away earlier and poured herself a fresh one. She hoped that another drink would make Morne slightly more tolerable, after all, she’d already had to force herself not to pull a knife out of her shadowy hiding place instead of the bottle.

Veronica watched Tessa leave the crowd and move further down the bar towards Roxxy with a slight pang of disappointment, still feeling a little flustered when their hands had almost touched on the vodka bottle.

She was very thankful for Sofia coming up alongside her and taking a shot of her own to join in, as she’d been unsure since she usually avoided parties. Not because she didn’t enjoy them, but perhaps because she enjoyed them a little too much, and she needed to walk the fine line between having an enjoyable evening and needing trained professionals to separate the mass of worshippers' last time.

"Sure, why not?” Veronica raised her own shot and clinked it gently against Sofia’s before the other girl spoke again "How about we watch each other so we do not get too drunk tonight?” She smiled back and nodded enthusiastically. ”Deal, we’ll keep each other out of trouble and make sure we’re having fun.”

She then downed her shot, shuddering a little at the sudden alcohol in her system before realising she’d not set herself up properly. She had to quickly grab some salt and a lime, which she bit into, sucking her lips slightly at the bitterness before she licked the salt off her hand, and downed a second shot from the bar. She couldn’t remember how she was meant to have done it, but that seemed to have worked; the shot tasted good at any rate. She glanced over at Sofia a little sheepishly, given that despite promising to go easy, she’d had two shots already.

Though a moment or so later, while she was still savouring the taste, a new appearance at camp squeezed in next to them at the bar. ‘I hope you don’t mind, I’m just going to reach by you’ She felt herself tense up a little at the close proximity of another person, always a little wary of their body as well as her own mixed in with her overly active influence on others. She was hoping that it wouldn’t cause any strain on her attempts to make real friends at camp rather than something more warped. Which was sadly how most relations usually became around her.

Are you two having fun?’ he asked them both before he went through the process of his own shot, which served to prove that Veronica had absolutely no idea what she was doing, given she’d managed to mess it up twice. She could already feel herself blushing again from embarrassment at having gotten it wrong.

That could have tasted better,’ the boy chuckled before introducing himself to them ‘I’m sorry that I am so close to you girls. The bar is pretty crowded. I’m Anatoliy by the way

Veronica smiled warmly and looked up at the taller boy before shaking his hand gently with hers and replying ”I'm Veronica, pleasure to meet you and don't worry about it, at least you had your shot right. I think I messed it up a bit. Also, welcome to camp.”

Fiona listened to Nelly talk while they were getting their food, she was telling her first about her love of alcoholic food as well as drink and about her worldly travels. Though when she started to talk about the trip she’d taken with her mother to Ireland for her eighteenth birthday, Fiona's own thoughts were pulled back to the homeland she’d fled, and in particular to what had happened with her stepmother.

Her memories were taunting her again as she thought back to her father, uncle, and even the half-siblings she’d never admit to missing. She could feel her knuckles going white around the glass as her grip was tightening, as her hand shook for a moment or two before she tossed back the remainder of her drink. Her home always made her sad whenever the memories surfaced, and the sudden mention of it tied with family had been unexpected.

"Well first, I am going to savor this whiskey." Fiona smiled at the other girl and commented on the drink while Nelly had her first taste "Jura’s half decent Scottish Whisky, good flavour. I’ll treat you to an Irish one later.”

"Mmmm, you're right, it is good! As for what I plan on doing next, I mostly want to mingle with others whether back at the bar with your brother, or on the dance floor. Or anywhere else! Skies the limit after all. Maybe we can find out who the new leader is?"

Fiona had been contemplating what Nelly had said, feeling a slight pang at Nelly wanting to go join Lochlan, which it took her a second to realise was probably jealousy that she did her best to brush aside. After all, he wasn’t the only one at the bar as there were plenty of others, and perhaps it wouldn’t hurt to get to know her brother better herself. Though before she could muse any further on what Nelly had said, a voice chimed in, having clearly heard them discussing plans for the evening.

If there is something or someone you want to do next, you can do me

Fiona snorted, trying not to choke on her drink as she burst out laughing, before turning towards the speaker and replying "Christ, that was shite." looking up at who’d spoken with her one good eye, she had no recollection of seeing them before, so could only assume they were one of the new arrivals, and though the first impression she got from the stranger wasn’t an entirely unpleasant one, visually at any rate. His attempt at flirting, however, was pathetic "That ever work for ya?"

Amorey had looked visibly uncomfortable in the heat due to her winter outfit from what Veronica could tell, even after unzipping her clothing slightly and removing her hat and scarf; so, she’d been expecting her offer of help to be accepted. She’d had it ingrained over the years that she needed to be of service to those around her, partly in an attempt to gain their friendship without forcing it herself. Having it declined left her somewhat stunned as she felt a conflicted between that subconscious need to be of help to others and the blessed relief that she didn’t need to carry the very heavy looking backpack.

I think I might go over to a bench or something and get all my stuff off before I run around, I do appreciate both of your help. Thank you.

Veronica hated that she was overthinking this fleeting interaction, and acting as if Amorey had wronged her when it was entirely the insecurities within her own head. She was glad that Sofia had spoken up before she could as she was still taking a moment to process what the newest arrival had said before she left in search of Andy. Even so, she was already turning inwards as she ran her hands up her arms and made herself hunch a little smaller, even if she was taller than the other two.

"No problem, Amorey, and I bet you can get sorted out and join the party later.”

”You’re welcome, and she should be around here somewhere. See you soon!” Veronica called after Amorey as she went towards a bench to offload some of her gear, perhaps sounding a little too cheerful as she pulled herself out of her melancholic thoughts. Sofia had turned back towards her to continue where they’d left off earlier.

"So you still want to head to the bar and not get drunk? since it seems like Amorey may not need our help at the moment.” Sofia looked to pause for a moment before continuing, clearly thinking about something. "Or we can do something else if you want, I do not care at the moment.” Veronica felt herself giggling at Sofia’s blasé statement though she turned bright pink a moment later as she tried her best not to laugh for long after almost offending the girl earlier. She did notice the girl’s gaze lingering on the sleds across the other side of the party.

”Maybe we could have a try sledding? Since you keep looking at the hill, I’d assume that’s where you want to go?” Veronica continued to make her way towards the bar, turning herself round so she was now walking backwards as she spoke with Sofia, giving her a warm smile. ”Drinks first, since we’re heading there now? And then food after sledding?”

When she turned back around, and caught sight of yet more new and unfamiliar demigods she could feel her panic rising, at least for half a heartbeat or so before she could stifle it. However, the sight of Lochlan’s taut shirt across his torso caused her heartrate to quicken all the same, while her eyes roamed freely over his body as he called out for everyone to join him for drinks. "Shots!"

Veronica, approached the bar with Sofia hopefully not far behind and looked around at the assorted drinks wondering what to have for a shot. Lochlan’s invitation was answered almost immediately afterwards by his sister in tow, "Hell yeah!" which of course drew Veronica’s attention to her as well, where her outfit left very little to the imagination, yet lingered in your thoughts. She could feel her breath quicken as the crowd around the bar was bustling with ever increasing numbers of beautiful bodies.

Veronica looked around the assorted bottles before attempting to reach over for a bottle of what looked to be vodka, thinking it would make a simple shot to join in without too much effort while Blair was getting them glasses.

However, another hand took the bottle first, so Veronica looked up from the bar to stare at the stranger who opened the bottle and poured herself a quick shot before placing it back. She smiled a little nervously, as she admired the tall girl while trying not to stare; absentmindedly licking her lips which were suddenly feeling a very dry after first Lochlan, then Blair and now this towering shield maiden; even if she was only half a foot taller than Veronica.

"Tequila?" She heard Blair suggest to Lochlan while she reached over for lime, salt and glasses that she began to set up on the bar in front of them all. A short male figure with intricately braided hair had also arrived, asking a general question to all there, likely brought over by Lochlan’s shout.

"Anything good over here?"

"Yeah, shots!" she heard Blair answer them back.

Her own plan of a simple malibu and coke had already been delayed by group shots, and perhaps her goal of minimal drinking was in danger already as well.

"Who’s in?" Blair asked of the crowd and Veronica gently put the vodka back down without pouring any out. She thought tequila might be better to ease into it, even as she cast an uncertain look towards the woman already with vodka in hand. Veronica could feel herself blushing with embarrassment over having taken a bottle only to do nothing with it, alongside her shy ogling of multiple people.

Raising her hand nervously to get Blairs attention Veronica put herself forward to take part ”sure?” she didn't volunteer Sofia though she did hope her new friend would join her.

Fiona couldn’t help but chuckle as she listened to Nelly talk about how the announcement caused her to fall out of bed, which made her think it must have certainly been rather loud. While she hadn’t felt the need to correct her friend, she did take another sip of her drink to hide the fleeting look of embarrassment, given she’d also fallen out of bed today for an entirely different reason.

Fiona rolled her eyes after Nelly’s comment about their daily runs and shared dislike of bed rest. "You're right ‘bout that. I can't see that either of us could have stayed in bed any longer than we did. And never said the runs were bad. It’s the getting up before noon I can’t be arsed with." She nodded along as the other girl filled her in about what she’d missed earlier in the announcements, giving her a sympathetic smile as she mentioned Ethan’s departure, though Fiona hadn’t dealt much with him herself, he’d seemed decent enough. And this Elysium sounded to have been cut from similar cloth, which, considering their shared parentage, made some sense. She was curious as to who the new leader would be, and a little annoyed by the change in leadership, given it was a shame since Andy had certainly proven herself capable. Hopefully, her replacement was at least half as capable.

At the mention of Karaoke, Fiona wasn’t entirely sure how to feel, given that it wasn’t something she could ever remember having done. Singing along to songs alone wasn’t the same, really. Though before she had to dwell on it too much, she followed Nelly’s gaze as she gestured from Andy to Daniel.

"You’ll have ta give me a tour some time, an point out which you’d recommend, though beers always hit or miss for me unless it’s a good stout. Though they might’ve got something you’d suggest at the bar, seems they’ve got everything else." At the mention of Karaoke, Fiona wasn’t entirely sure how to feel, given that it wasn’t something she could ever remember having done. Singing along to songs alone wasn’t the same, really. And she hadn’t sung in front of others since leaving home; she didn’t know if she could. Though before she had to dwell on it too much, Nelly had already vetoed the idea, for which she was thankful, as she followed Nelly’s gaze as she looked from Andy to Daniel. "Nah, leave ‘em be is best. Now let's get some food, my stomach already thinks I have my throat cut. As for a drink..." she reaches over and picks up a bottle of amber liquid and fills half of a glass tumbler with it before doing the same with her own empty glass ”Now, I’m more partial to whiskey from home than much else, but Scottish whisky has its charm more so than bourbon does for me, so I’m hoping Jura’ll be to your liking.” She handed the glass over to Nelly before clinking hers against it and taking a savoury sip with a smile.

Fiona picked up the plate she’d brought over with a few nibbles that she’d already devoured She turned and headed back towards the food with Nelly alongside, where they both piled their plates a little high. She made sure to finally grab one of the Oreo cookies before they were all taken, then glanced around till she spotted Duke, raised it over her head so she could point at it with the other before she gave him a happy grin and stuck her tongue out playfully at him. Together with Nelly, they moved over to one of the empty tables nearby to sit with the food and drink before they moved on to something else for the night. They had not long sat down and tucked into their food when a voice shouted from the bar.

"Shots!"

Fiona looked back over her shoulder towards the sound of her now topless brother inviting the camp to more drinks, which caused her to snort with laughter. She wasn’t entirely surprised as she’d assumed it was one of the traits they’d both inherited from their mother, since she’d never been without a drink whenever Fiona had dealt with her. She wasn’t sure if going back to the bar was the best idea, least of all starting to drink more with her brother, as she didn’t know who’d be under the table first, nor if anyone else around the bar would still be standing. Nelly might outlast them, though, the thought of which made her chuckle.

Deciding against joining him and others back at the bar, she turned back to their table and Nelly "So, you wanted fuel for later, but what ya wanting to do next?"

#B300B3 .....|..... Veronica’s outfit .....|..... Party – Ice Rink .....|..... #9966CC .....|..... Sofia’s outfit

Veronica had slowed down till she was almost stationary on the ice, feeling rather dazed and overwhelmed by Nelly burst of information, which while helpful in that it had told her things she hadn’t gleaned from Iliana or Heath, or one of the others since her own arrival; it was still a lot to take in and make sense of. She was still recovering from the rush of words when Nelly followed up with a compliment that caused her to blush while feeling a little feel self-conscious. Though before she could respond or react the energetic girl had shot off across the ice, swapped her shoes over and headed towards the bar and the rest of the party.

Sofia, looking a bit awkward towards Veronica, and spoke. ”So that was a lot and I think I need a drink after that… Want to join me at the bar? If not, that is okay.”

Still feeling somewhat shellshocked by Nelly’s departure, Veronica could only return a slightly nervous grin ”Yeah, it was a little, and sure, I’ll join you. Probably avoid anything too strong though…” She always felt much more out of control whenever she drank, which often ended badly for those around her. Well, they usually had a happy ending first, at least.

Sofia with a smile,”Awesome and yeah, same. I do not plan on getting drunk tonight, so I am taking it easy.” Sofia said back to Veronica and started leaving the ice rink. It would be a poor first impression if she gets drunk on her first day at camp. Sofia does not want that, so only a few drinks tonight.

Veronica followed after Sofia and changed her shoes back over before stepping onto the snow ”So… you heard Nelly, my mother is Aphrodite, which growing up I thought was just my dad being delusional as usual. I only met her once, a few months ago, which was probably enough for both of us. It was… difficult.” Veronica paused after the last word as she could feel herself starting to ramble, so she gave the other girl a sheepish look ”Do you know who your godly parent is?”

After changing into her normal shoes from ice skates, and gracing the snow once again. Sofia, with a weak smile, replied to Veronica. ”I never met him, but my mother tells me my father is… Hades.” While Sofia knew Heath was okay with her parentage. She still had to see how the rest of the campers felt, and while she felt more at ease since talking to Heath about it. She still did not wish to be surprised if someone reacted badly to it. ”I am not sure if I want to meet him, but he is my godly parent.”

Unbidden and completely at odds with the grave way Sofia had proclaimed her parentage, Veronica couldn’t help a giggle while she covered her mouth. Feeling utterly mortified ”Im sooo sorry! I couldn’t help it, as soon as you said his name all I could picture was the Disney movie. Especially when he’d lose his temper or something…” she’d turned bright Crimson in embarrassment and absentmindedly ran her tongue over dry lips as if trying to find better words to make amends. ”I don’t know what to expect from any of our parents, since parts of them seem straight out of mythology but even those contradict each other, so who knows what they are actually like?”

Sofia tried not to seem annoyed at Veronica, mainly due to her quick apology. Though Veronica may not know what Hades has done. Sofia just knows what her mother told her, and she has yet to meet the lord of the underworld. So maybe there is some good in her father. Still, she is not eager to meet Hades. ”Maybe,” Sofia said with some reluctance. She sighed and tried to sound more cheerful. ”While I am unsure about my father, I do not want to bring things down.” Sofia let out a small smile, ”It is a party after all and so let’s talk about something else and have some fun. Just without getting drunk.”

It felt to Veronica that the temperature had dropped a few degrees after she’d burst out laughing, leaving her with the distinct feeling she’d put her foot in it. She frowned, realising her confidence was faltering, and her posture slouched slightly as she wrapped her arms around herself, standing at the edge of the ice rink. The other girl’s cheery voice did help to pull her out of her momentary lull, even if it felt a little forced. ”Yeah, sure. No more parent talk then” she runs her fingers across her lips in a zip motion ”So, what do you like to do for fun? Other than parties, of course.” She glanced around while waiting for Sofia to respond and spotted another new face at camp approaching them.

Hello, I don’t mean to bother you two,’ Amorey began while she gave them a friendly smile. ‘But I just got here and I have absolutely no idea what is going on. I assume this is a party, but I would appreciate it if someone could point me to someone that knows where my brother and I will be staying

Sofia was about to speak when she heard someone say hello and spotted the newcomer. After listening to what she said, Sofia spoke up,”Hey there, and that person you are looking is Andy I think.” Sofia took a moment to look around for the missing leader. ”I am not sure where she is right now but we can help you with finding her.” Then Sofia looked at Veroncia, ”If you want to help that is, and if not that is fine.” Sounding friendly and turned back to Amorey. ”How about we check the bar and go from there? Also, I am Sofia by the way and yeah, this is a party.”

Veronica nodded in agreement with what Sofia had told the new girl before adding her own greeting ”I’m Veronica, and yeah, Andy is probably the best person to ask, and the bar is a good place to check first. Though we are meant to be having a change of leadership soon, I think…” She paused for a moment as she looked over the other girl’s outfit, which, while perfectly reasonable in winter, must be unbearable at the moment. ”Um, before we go to the bar, do you want any help with your stuff? You must be melting in this heat?”

"None of your fucking business,"

Fiona made sure to quickly cover her mouth with her hand, having to almost swallow it as she fought against the urge the laugh, at best only muffling the snort that still made it through. She then drained her glass as she tried not to choke from the effort of keeping a straight face, then poured herself a fresh one from the bar.

"Mediocre top shelf by average standards. My father has a better selection in his study." The pompous little Russian fuck was definitely rattled, if not pissed off, which she found absolutely hilarious, even as his mask snapped back into place. Sadly, before she could attempt to engage him in anything further, he’d turned and fled. Oh, he’d view it as a grand withdrawal more than likely, while retaining his composure, of course, as befitted one of his impeccable breeding. Most unseemly to trade words with a common traveller like herself. She did wonder if he was descended from the kind of family who would have had hers rounded up and shot in decades past. Pompous wanker.

Taking a quick sip of her “mediocre swill”, she did something that she’d probably regret but felt right for the moment. Raising her own glass in a mock salute of his own from earlier, she shouted after Sylas’ meandering back, her voice sounding almost parody-esque as she put on a convincing bubbly American accent "Love you too, Sylas!"

She’d barely turned back to the bar, planning to stock up a little before heading back for food when a green and red blur suddenly appeared and joyously screamed in her face. Causing her to jolt a little and quickly grasp for her glass and bottle before they fell from her fingers.

"Hey girlfriend, where have you been? You've missed a lot already. Did you hear Andy's announcement? Also, I see you and I were on a similar green wavelength hehe.” Nelly gestured down at both of their outfits before continuing "What is it with us redheads and the color green?"

"Christ, Nell!"

Fiona chuckled, having gotten her breath back from the other girl's whirlwind arrival, which always caught her off guard, no matter how prepared she was for it. Though her recovery was definitely improving after the first time, where she had almost fallen over after she’d blinked and where there’d not been a Nell there now was. Shaking her head, she gave the other girl a hug in greeting before answering her questions. The moment she felt their skin touch, she cursed herself as behind her eyes there was a brief flash of jumbled images; lightning splitting the sky, a spear tip covered in blood, and Nelly running so fast she walked on water. Then they were gone, and she was standing back at the bar. She hated this ‘gift’ because it never made sense at the time, and usually, she only recognised whatever it had tried to tell her when it was too late to be helpful. Maybe, she’d try and keep Nelly away from spears for a while, just in case.

"Announcement?" She scrunched up her face a little in confusion, trying to think if she heard anything before giving a nonchalant shrug "Clearly weren’t that important if it didn’t even wake me up. Looks like plenty of new faces around tonight though.” Looking down at her own dress with its handful of pockmarked burns compared with the smooth dress that Nell was wearing she gave her friend a lopsided grin.

"Thinkin’ alike, what with having got vibrant hair on us, the green just makes that more eye-catching. Makes us stand apart." She ran her free hand through her hair and struck an alluring pose before laughing and taking another sip of her drink.

"I've not been doing much, an I blame you for me wasting the day. I’m used to ye draggin’ me kicking and screaming for a run in the mornings. Without that, I may as well be dead ta the world. So, what have I been missing then?"

Nodding towards Blair and admiring her show-stopping outfit “Do you think she feels the falling snow in this heat or not? I wonder which poor soul’ll be trapped in her web ta’night.” She smiled a little wryly as Blair approached their shared brother and appeared to be criticising whatever travesty he was wearing, if their body language was anything to go off. In truth, Fiona hadn’t really been looking for her brother since they’d shared some awkward greetings and little else since she had arrived, but on reflection, she had no idea how she’d manage to miss him in that little getup.

"You fancying yourself a tipple?" Fiona asked as she topped up her own glass and grabbed a bottle or two from the table, which she promptly dropped into a shadow for later use.

"Should we grab ourselves some scran, plan our next move? Seats probably, eh?" She waited at the bar with Nelly as the other girl either fixed herself a drink or not before picking up her plate so that they could head back towards the food together.
