The door didn't give way to her budging, which was just typical. Instead she made her way towards the back of the building. It took a bit of effort, but she found herself standing at the back entrance. She prayed it wouldn't be jammed as well, or that there were other things, living or dead, inside. She just wanted to sit. She dreamed that inside it would be a fully furnished building, comfortable seats abound. Something had to go right eventually.

The door opened without much struggle and she gave a silent prayer of thanks, even though she was sure God has fully given up on the world. She made her way inside where the smell of death hit her hard. She was used to the smell, but still it was never pleasant. She pursued the smell to the front of the store where she saw the decomposing corpse of a man. She felt a small portion of pity on him, but it was quickly overtaken when she saw the pack next to him and the glorious amounts of water present. She would cry if she wasn't afraid of losing more water.

The pack held some hiking water packs. It was more than enough to get her through another long journey, but she knew she wouldn't be able to carry them all.

Acting quickly, she began to clean the hiking packs out. It took effort, but she tried to clean them all out to the best of her ability. Once done, she filled 3 of them and put two in her pack and carried one outside. She made her way back and found a quiet place to sit, as far from the smell as she could. She thought about her journey thus far and how she got here. She was safe, for the moment, a luxury in it's own right.

Esméralda has always loved Captain Phoebus, though he has never expressed his interest in her. Since the Cataclysm, she eagerly awaits her one true love to come and accept her for all that she is.

• A T T I R E

Esméralda stands at 5'6'' and has a slender frame with some tone due to the amount of dancing she has done. She as long, raven black hair and piercing green eyes. She has a small birthmark on the right side of her face, near her mouth.

As a dancer, Esméralda typically wore light, flowing clothing of poor quality; cheap clothing she would obtain to keep up modesty. She almost never wore shoes while dancing, but occasionally wore small black flats or sandals when the terrain called for it. Most notably, Esméralda always wore a pink ribbon in her hair, which is a memento of her mother.

On Earth, Esméralda still prefers lighter clothing, ranging from peasant blouses to off-the-shoulder tops and long skirts in a variety of light colors, her favorite being purple. She still wears flats and sandals, but has been known to wear the occasional high heel if she is going to a more formal event. She still wears the pink ribbon in her hair and it has become a staple of her that others recognize her by.

Esméralda has always been a kind and loving soul. She often puts other's needs before her own and goes out of her way to help those who need it, even if it means she loses her hard earned money or a meal or two. She especially has a soft spot for children, hoping these kids would eventually have a better life than she did growing up. Though she isn't religious by any means, she does believe and hope there is a higher power out there watching over everyone. Though kind, Esméralda won't back down from confrontation and doesn't take kindly to anyone who pushes their ideals or beliefs on others. She would stand up to anyone if they were taking advantage of the poor or downtrodden.

• R E N O W N E D S K I L L S

Esméralda is a skilled dancer and acrobat, graceful and poised whenever she moves. Due to her dancing, she is physically fit for a woman of her age, especially when it comes to her legs. She has an impressive amount of endurance, able to dance for long hours without getting winded as easily. She is also good at self-defense, having been on the streets for so long, a woman needs to be able to take care of herself.

Esméralda can be too giving and kind for her own good. While life on the streets has taught her values, she can be too trusting of others and has often been taken advantage of. People know they can rely on her and this has led her to take on many things at once because she can't say no to them.

• O N C E U P O N A T I M E

Born in France during a harsh time, her parents were gypsies who didn't stay in one place for long. An attack by rebels against the church caused her mother's death. Unable to take care of his daughter on his own, his father left her with some other gypsy friends and fled the city.

As Esméralda got older, she found a love of dancing and would entertain the people in the streets for some coin. This painted her in a negative light with the authorities who often tried to arrest her. The church was also at her doorstep, thanks to Claude Frollo, who was tempted by Esméralda's beauty. She evaded the grasp of many guards, but had a few brushes with the law. This was where she met Captain Phoebus.

Feeling an immediate attraction, Esméralda flirted with the Captain, though he never advanced on her. Unknwon to her, Phoebus had feelings for her as well, but due to his career and place, he felt he could never act on those feelings. He often got her out of trouble despite the rantings of Claude Frollo.

On one particular night, running from the guards again, Esméralda hid in Notre Dame where she met Quasimodo. Startled at first, she quickly found a pure heart in the man who was often tormented by others for his appearance. He helped hide her from her chasers and eventually the two got to talking. They quickly became friends and Quasimodo started developing feelings for the Gypsy woman. She bid him farewell and returned home.

Claude Frollo, tempted to the point of madness, took sharp aim against Esméralda and forced her hand, capturing Captain Phoebus and promised to kill him unless she showed herself. She called on Quasimodo's help to save the Captain and the two went to meet Claude Frollo. Claude Frollo promised to release the Captain if she promised herself to him. She was abotu to accept when Quasimodo quickly tackled Claude Frollo and allowed the Captain to escape. Esméralda began to flee with him until she looked back to see Claude Frollo about to attack Quasimodo. She and Captain Phoebus ran back to stop the man and the fight took them outside of Notre Dame on the balcony. Claude Frollo, angered, nearly sent Esméralda over the edge, but she was saved by Quasimodo while Claude Frollo plummeted to the ground below, presumed dead.

With themselves now safe from his tyranny, Esméralda, with the help of Quasimodo who realized the two of them really loved each other, showed her affection to Phoebus who finally returned it in kind.

• A N E W C H A P T E R

The Cataclysm left their home devastated and Esméralda fled and found herself on Earth. Phoebus and Quasimodo's whereabouts were unknown to her and she was left to assume the worst. She was forced to pick up the pieces and move on with her life.

She adapted and found herself with a career in dance, opening up her own studio to teach young kids the art of dance as a sort of therapy and fun activity. She also helps out in her community by volunteering and giving what she can from her business.

Above all, she hopes she can eventually find love again and share their passions for their work.

Rouge isn't particular about finding her King. She wants someone who would treat her right, would uphold her beauty and intelligence, and most importantly, would allow her to do whatever she pleases. The Queen rules the board, after all.

♥ A T T I R E

Rouge stands at 5'7'' and weighs 122 lbs. She has long hair that is a combination of light blonde, almost white, and red. She changes it up occasionally by highlighting the red more, but she never changes it from that. She has light gray eyes and a pale complexion. She wears make-up, usually in red or pink shades. She has a generous figure, highlighted in her chest region.

As a Queen should, Rouge always looks her greatest, whether she is off to see the peasants....or rather her subjects or spending a lazy day in her castle, she always wears fine gowns in elegant fashion, usually in red or black. Her favorite dress is, of course, the pinnacle gown that shows who she truly is, as the Queen.

On Earth, she still wears only the finest clothing from top fashion designers. Nothing store brand or cheap in her closet. She still mainly wears red and black, with the occasional white thrown in. Even if she wears a t-shirt, you know it's going to be name brand.

Rouge enjoys the finer things in life, and isn't afraid to do whatever it takes to ensure she remains in the lifestyle she is accustomed to. Whether someone needs to be put down, or perhaps someone losing a head, it matters not to her, so long as she remains on top. She looks down on those she feels are beneath her in status and doesn't particularly like those who are on the same level as her either. She still remains cordial and polite when addressing others, but usually subtlety hints that they are not worth her time. This doesn't mean she is without friends or without the ability to love, as she has loved before. She chooses her confidantes carefully. Having been burned before, she thinks more clearly now about who she is around others.

Other than her magical abilities, Rouge is also highly intelligent, able to plot and maneuver around the tightest of obstacles in her way. This comes in especially handy while ruling over her kingdom. She is also a great strategist and comes up with interesting strategies when facing hurdles. Try as they might, her enemies haven't been able to outsmart her yet. Lastly, she is charismatic, able to calm the angriest peasant or charm a prince out of his shoes.

Rouge is vain and narcissistic. She believes she is the greatest thing to walk on Earth or Wonderland. She radiates this nature to everyone she meets and if the conversation doesn't turn in her favor, she will make it so. She prefers looking her best in any situation and if even one hair is out of place or one crease in her dress forms, she goes mad.

♥ O N C E U P O N A T I M E

The Red Queen ruled with an iron fist. She struck fear into those who would dare oppose her and charmed her way into many situations that only benefited her. Her sister, the White Queen, worried that her sister was out of control and desperately sought after someone to take her down a peg.

This was when Alice came into Wonderland.

The Red Queen was amused with this small girl and told her the rules of chess and promotion. Knowing fully well the girl would never manage to overthrow her, she bid the girl good luck and returned to her kingdom to let the trials of Wonderland see to this little nuisance.

However, it seemed that Alice was able to make friends with the Wonderland characters and found herself some allies. Most notably, the Mad Hatter. With his help, Alice was able to navigate the labrynth of Wonderland trials and came face to face with the Queen of Hearts. The Queen took an instant disliking to the girl and formulated a plan to rid herself of Alice by framing her of theft and punishing her by chopping off her head. Alice though, managed to get away from the Queen who, in a series of rage and hostility, passed away.

Rouge saw an opportunity and quickly picked up the mantle of Queen of Hearts and formulated her plans to continue said legacy. This was when Alice and her new friends came to fight back. The two had a battle of wits that eventually Rouge ended up losing. Unable to stand with the loss, Rouge fled back to her Kingdom and allowed the small girl her victory...for now.

♥ A N E W C H A P T E R

As Madness consumed Wonderland, Rouge had little choice than to flee, less she be overcome. Life in Wystvale isn't so different from her adventures in Wonderland. Though she has no kingdom to call her own, she still lords over the masses as an heiress and debutante. She keeps up the lifestyle with her own fashion line and magazine publishing, called "The Queen of Hearts". She has done her best to adapt to the new lifestyle.

Rouge still remembers the events of Wonderland's past and knows those who wronged her. She has particular hatred for her sister and especially the annoying little girl Alice. All in due time though, as Rouge will get her revenge on those that forced her away from her true calling.

Once all is said and done, she will rule over all of Wonderland as the Head Queen.

@Undine Yeah, sorry I meant to word it that she ruled over her own particular area of Wonderland, not the whole thing. Yeah I would be fine with that.

And yes, I wanted the timeline to be that she was still somewhat new to her Queendom when Alice came into Wonderland, part of how I imagine she got played by the little girl. I imagine she most likely overthrew the King/Queen before her and took over the throne.

I'll add that she eventually wants to rule over all of Wonderland in her end goal along with getting revenge on Alice and the White Queen. And if she can't reclaim wonderland, Earth would be the next best thing *rubs hands maniacally*
