@Witch Cat Where do you keep finding your profile pictures?
@Dedonus Will there be a post to bring all the Pax heroes back together to discuss their involvement, possible future plans for the teams, etc.? Marie might have a request for Iron Knight and company that could either be made during season 2 as a flash back, or at the end of this season.
So I know it seemed like Joseph was doing a lot of steering in that post, that was an intentional bit of character development. He's been trying to garner the type of approval and appreciation that White Witch has been receiving as of late, so he's really adamant to take charge of a situation like this.

This was not, however, an example of me puppeting the other involved parties. Sending in Holt to launch a secret assault was Joseph's main contribution thus far and in the following hero posts, you are, of course, free to disagree with how he's chosen to proceed, argue with him, etc. I just wanted that bit of exposition to come through, which is why I formatted my post in the way that I did.

I don't think this will actually be a problem, just wanted to respond to any complaints before they were made just to be safe.
Natural Selection Arc

Joseph Mathers

Location: Lost Haven, Maine, Outside The Cowl’s Ironworks
Time: Natural Selection, Present

The heroes’ silhouettes vanished within the abyss of alleys and in-betweens surrounding the old ironworks. Despite their varied appearances, their sizes and gifts, each was masterfully concealed by their silence and the blanket of night. Suits were stationed at each corner of the building, guarding all visible entrances. At a glance, there was no way any of them would get in without riling up the Cowl’s men. Then again, was this group all that concerned with stealth and subtlety? It seemed that Joseph was the only one among them with the means to infiltrate their numbers quietly.

“Holt,” Joseph called out in barely a whisper. From the surrounding shadows, Holt formed, taking the shape of a jet-black raven. “Sneak through the front entrance and see if you can locate Racheli.”

He nodded, flapping his wings and circling above the guards who attended to the main door. He cawed a few times, tempting the guards to look away from their post, if only for a moment. This was less for his benefit and more to see how easily distracted they were. They responded with a few caws of their own, the imbeciles. Holt quickly shifted into his most ethereal state and passed through the unaware guardsmen.

The inside was a mess of metal beams and equipment, large barrels and vats full of scraps and metallic debris. Closer to the center, a large clearing came into view, where Odette, the Cowl, and a captive Racheli stood. Holt drew nearer, listening to their conversation. It seemed that Racheli had been placed in a device that would contain whatever powers she possessed, one that was also enchanted to keep away any mystical interference.

“Hmm. . .” Holt hummed, pondering how Joseph and his team might remove her from the containment device. He continued to circle above the villains, listening, waiting. Once he was satisfied, he evaporated, appearing before Joseph once more in raven form.

“What did you see?” Joseph questioned eagerly.

“The faery woman from before was there, accompanied by a tall, masked man. The girl, Racheli, was locked inside a strange device that, I believe, will guard against both her powers and all of yours. “ Holt relayed the information concisely, not wanting to waste time. “There were no strong magical fields and entities, meaning aside from the obvious threats, there shouldn’t be any surprises waiting inside.” This would have been good news for the entire team. Without Odette’s pesky traps, they all stood a better chance at safely retrieving Racheli.

“Good,” Joseph replied. He took a moment to consider their options. They could go in, guns blazing and likely make it through the front door. Odette’s magic posed the greatest single threat, but Joseph could shield his allies from it long enough for them to blindside her with a show of force. Joseph worried briefly about the masked stranger, but had no reason to believe that he posed much of a physical threat.

Alternatively, Joseph could send in Holt once more and initiate a surprise attack. He could channel magic through Holt and issue mystical commands from afar, taking all inside by surprise and hopefully taking the guards from their posts. This would allow the team to get through them much easier. After a few more moments of contemplation, Joseph decided to go with the later of the two plans.

“So,” he spoke up, “I’ll send my familiar in again and have him launch a surprise attack. He’s entirely resistant to physical force and can hold his own against faery magic. This will let us get through the front however we like and hopefully catch the guards by surprise.” He looked at Hydro and Icarus, who was no doubt feeling some contempt.

“I know this is your mission, I know that you know the most about Racheli and this alien virus, but just as we know nothing of her power, you don’t fully understand the capabilities of magic. Luckily, I do, so let me see to this and then you can go barging in with your metal suit.”
Not wanting to wait for objections, Joseph sent Holt with a command to enter the ironworks once again and cause a disturbance.

Inside the Ironworks, all stood momentarily still, the calm before the storm. Holt flew in once more, this time carrying with him a powerful wind that whistled through the metal beams, sending stray items clattering to the floor, their vibrations ringing throughout the building. Holt then took on a more physical shape, still keeping out of sight, and began to lift pieces of debris and smaller equipment, flinging them about while increasing the chill and fury of the invading winds.

The interior was slowly turning into a icy vortex, metal turning cold, loose shrapnel freezing over completely. This would surely draw the attention of all attending parties and leave an opening for the heroes to launch their assault.
I've also got some fun magical plans for Hekate and Marie in the form of an overreaching arc that will hopefully include multiple mystically inclined heroes and villains. It's really only something that affects Marie and her supporting cast, but it'll be sort of what motivates her in season 2 and maybe even turns her to the dark side!
Looks like no one's interested in getting to know Cassandra :(
@jasonwolf Damn, that would have been a good bit!
With the arrival of the boss-man, Seph, and the death of the young mage, Cassandra extinguished her protective ward. One man down wasn’t bad for the group’s first mission, and Cassandra had played her part well. Counter magic, in her not so humble opinion, was a witch’s greatest weapon, and she had utilized her skills to the benefit of the team, even managing to save one of her coworkers from bleeding out. For a moment, she was overcome with emotion, a strange internal mix of excitement, joy, and belonging.

”What are you doing?” she gave herself a mental kick, returning to her normal, flirty, sarcastic self. She nodded at Mithias as he relieved her of Jaklo and entered the portal back to W&R. She stood up, brushing off the snow from her bare knees. With all passing from this place to the next, Cassandra quickly followed suit, the Pit of Creation in tow. It’s wide mouth threatened to strand it within the frozen wastes of their previous location, but after a moment, it had successfully passed through the portal, which closed in response.

Cassandra took a moment to examine the new collection of teammates who had arrived via a separate portal. They were as interesting a lot as her own team had been, and just as diverse in terms of age and ability. One of them brought out a nice brandy.

"Well, here's to the first of what I hope will be many successes. I feel honored to call you co workers."

Cassandra stepped forward, taking up one of the glasses he had poured.

“Falling into a drunken stupor after a successful mission? Cheers to that,” she exclaimed in her usual sultry tone, downing the dark liquor, wincing only slightly at its bitterness. As she moved, so did the Pit, bumping into desks and boxes in its path, taking up a lofty amount of space in their immediate area.

“Whoops, almost forgot about you,” she turned back to the Pit and tapped on its side. “Blessed vessel of pitch and tar, if far be near, if near be far.”

The Pit seemed to dissolve into nothing, its fine brass exterior absorbed briefly in mystical flames. When they subsided, the Pit went with them, back to wherever it deigned to reside between uses.
Natural Selections Arc:

Alright, here's the game plan. I'm hoping to have NN's, Trickster's and my post done by Next Wednesday. Gives us a week and few days in the event RL comes knocking, so I believe it should be enough to wrap that up. When you have time to spare, NN, let us know and we'll continue to wrap that scene up and post it.

Hero, you need to post that collab between Gabe & Justine before Thursday, which gives you plenty of time. As far as I was aware, it's finished and should be easy to put up within that time frame unless you two need to add more? (noted that Justine was waiting at McDonald's and doesn't know the location of where she's heading and should) If it's not done, you have until Saturday to get that done.

Now to the rest:

I'm aiming to keep the momentum up and keep this thing moving at a steady pace namely as we're nearly to the climax folks which means plenty of baddies for everyone to beat up. Gene Co, after determining what's reasonable, will be entering the fight between Cowl, his thugs and Odette after the clash begins. AKA, I'll let you all clash for a few rounds (posts) then I will bring in Gene Co which so we can clash for another round and determine what happens.

All fights/conflicts will be mostly winging but I want the focus to be mainly on the story creation which means Cowl and Odette will get away. For none named or any important NPCs, they are free game for shared manipulation in fight.

How I want to approach the climax is pretty simple: due to there being 8 players, and likely 8 or so PCS in the mix, it would be much easier to do simple posts for the fight save for collabs during moments of teamwork between a max of 2-3 players, including Villain Players. Mainly as a huge collab would be too chaotic and hard to smooth out with so much going on, not to mention none of these heroes have ever worked together so it's not natural they would suddenly work like a team. This would allow, too, each individual to get some ass kicking in and give the impression they are doing their own thing with little or lot of success. The over all plan, like who goes for Rach or holds off the goons or if they just leap into there, is up to the Players and their characters. With some luck and energy, we'll likely have this done by the end of this month at latest or sooner! ^-^

Will there be a post on your or Trickster's end that initiates this? I agree that a massive collab right now would be messy but I know personally I'm afraid to take the reins for fear of making another mess. I guess I'm asking for a little direction, maybe a suggestion as to who should collab with whom and etc.
@Dedonus
If we're talking legal repercussions for Diplodoc, I assume that will translate into the legality of metahuman/general super activity? It is technically vigilantism and while they are the only individuals equipped to deal with certain threats, they aren't always quiet about it. Maybe a Sokovia Accords type document comes into play at some point, or a council or set of teams sort of like the Justice League?

Also, because I don't know, what is the exact functionality of S.T.R.I.K.E.? I don't remember what it stands for or exactly what they do, lol. I imagine they're pretty much S.H.I.E.L.D. and I'm sure that's how they've been described in the OOC, but I wanted to be sure. And if that is what they are, maybe after Diplodoc's rampage STRIKE is given more funding or leeway to deal with things like this?

Just spit balling.
