Appearance & Attire: At first appearance Synnove seems as judging as she really is, expression always one that lets people know this. It gives her a somewhat unfriendly air though she doesn't mind that it puts people off. She stands at around 5'7" which puts her at a reasonable height, and weighs around 135lbs. She is slender, and clearly athletic. She spends a lot of her time working out and exercising meaning that she has a decent strength. She is clearly of European descent. The majority of her ancestors are Nordic; her father having moved over from Norway at a young age and her grandparent's on her mother's side having immigrated from northern Europe. This helps with her tall and slender look. She is quite long legged, a strength she tries to enhance, and relatively curvy. She is not incredibly busty however the curves that she does have go well with her overall height and slenderness. Her body is quite attractive and this is something that she appreciates, and knows.
Syn has long, platinum blond hair. This falls slightly further than midway down her back and has a bit of a wave to it. Most of the time it is found braided or tied back and she has been seriously considering cutting it all off so it no longer gets in the way. She has a very pale, quite white complexion. There is very little colour in her face and if there happens to be any it's probably been a day when she has bothered to put on makeup. Her eyes are a grayish-blue, rather light and icy in colour. Her face is reasonably long and thin. Set in it is a narrow and straight nose that goes up relatively high but doesn't look at all out of place. Her lips are also, somewhat unfortunately, thin a quite pale (unless she is wearing lipstick) as most of her facial features are. Her ears are more average, if slightly elongated. She is far from bad looking appearance wise, however.
Syn's dress style isn't particularly fashionable, though nor is it terrible and slobbish. On most days she will be found in simple, and comfortable clothes. She has a preference for jeans over most other things she would wear on the bottom half, though she'll wear shorts in warm weather. Is she is feeling particularly good, or wants to look nice, she might be found wearing a dress or a skirt. However this is often impractical. On the top half she wears tight tops and some kind of jumper if it is cold. She tends to go for an overall blue and purple colour scheme and tries to avoid colours that may make her look even paler than she already looks.
Skills/Talents:Technology: Syn has quite an affinity for computers and engineering. She is talented in building computers and fixing them, along with the more software based side of programming and hacking (though she keeps this skill more secret due to the fact that is illegal). Along with computers she enjoys building all sorts of useful gadgets. If it runs on electricity she has an interest in it, really.
Athletic: Syn works out enough to be reasonably fit and has a decent stamina, though she couldn't take on someone who body builds and is not trained in fighting.
Intelligent: Syn has a natural intelligence that is mostly used for the technology she loves to build and play with. However she also has good problem solving skills and can easily come up plans, and do things such as mathematics.
Brief Backstory:Synnove was born in Verthaven and grew up in the metropolis. Her parents were both hard working and middle class allowing Syn to grow up in a reasonably stable household. As an only child with busy parents she spent a lot of her younger years playing with the other children in the neighbourhood. She excelled in the school that she attended and found it rather easy, becoming slightly lazy as a result. As she grew older she struggled more to stay friends with people due to being somewhat mean and condescending (especially to those less intelligent than her). This meant that she spent less time with others and more time alone.
She began to tinker with thinks as she began to spend more time alone and it was from this that she found her love of building things. She would regularly find various discarded items around her house and build them into some kind of invention that she came up with. Her parents were happy to let her develop this skill and began to give her a small fund towards buying the parts she wanted. She saved this up to get a computer and started working with this, teaching herself the software side.
Syn was in her early teens when her power first manifested. A power outage in her house meant that she couldn't continue with a rather important project she was working on. Frustrated she accidentally hit her computer. Upon impact a small bolt of electricity moved from her fingers and into it, allowing it to work. In shock Syn decided to keep her power secret from her parents and worked on it alone.
She began to look more into information available on metahumans. Finding painfully little it was this that pushed her towards learning how to hack, something she excelled in (her power helped) and began to enjoy a little too much. She made the mistake of attempting to hack into databases held by NEST and didn't cover it up well enough. She was, to say the least, shocked when agents turned up on her door. Once they discovered she was a metahuman she was given an option: serve a prison sentence or take part in the academy program.
She chose the latter and was put into Academy 218.
Power Information
Power Class:Elemental (Energy)
Power:Electricty Manipulation:Also known as Electrokinesis, Syn has the ability to create and control electricity in its most raw form. This allows her to shoot short distance electricity into objects and the like. It can be used to give conductive materaisl some form of electric charge. She can vary the strength of the electricity from a minor shock to a incredibly powerful (and possibly fatal) one. It can be used to paralyse people if needed. Syn most often uses it to power electronics, or recharge batteries. She can also manipulate electricity that is already existing and can easily cause anything that runs on electricity to short circuit by stopping the flow of electricity to it or overcharging it. She can also use it to produce heat.
Syn hasn't had much training with her power and thus is limited in what she can do. She has theorised that she may be able to create and manipulate electric fields but has yet to put this thought into action.
Electricity Resistance:Syn is more resistant to external forms of electricity than a person would normally do and as a result small shocks are no bother to her, and she can survive more powerful bolts of electricity than most people can.
Limits:Synnove has a limitation on the distance that she can shoot out her electricity. This distance tends to be quite short and it works slightly better at a closer distance. The further out it gets, the weaker it becomes. Along with this it can be blocked by non-conductive materials and is always blocked by electrical resistant materials, such as rubber. If it moves for a long distance it will naturally go for the most conductive material as well so unless Syn is concentrating it may divert from the path she wanted it to go. She sometimes doesn't have the best control over it and can cause electronics to malfunction accidentally.
Weaknesses/Drawbacks:Syn's first weakness comes from using her power itself. Any electricity that she creates first flows through her before being outputted from her body. This means that she feels the effects of the electricity. This is negligible if she only uses small amounts of it as she is more resistant to the electricity. However the more she uses, and the longer the period of time, the more likely she is to cause damage to herself. This can include temporary paralysation, a lot of pain and if done too much it could cause death. As a result she has to be careful about how she uses her power, and when.
Along with this she is weak to water. If hit by water while using her power she will, in a way, short circuit causing her to be electrically shocked. Due to her power she is also slightly more conductive than a normal person would be meaning that in some circumstances her power may be bounced back to her.
Syn's use of electricity can disrupt her own electrical signals, which comes with a few downsides. This will often cause things such as twitching, slower reflexes and even a reduction in the control she has over her body. The intensity of this effect depends on how much she uses the electricity, how long she has used it for and how power it is. Often if she shoots a very powerful bolt of electricity she will be unable to react to anything after it, and has a lot of difficult controlling any of her body parts.
