@Potemking: I feel as though you may have a masochistic compulsion. I've broken many a controller over Soulsborne games.

Redguards are technically the Arabians of Tamriel, so wouldn't shouting "Haji" make more sense? No disrespect to my Muslim buddies out there, just sayin'.

[2] It can also be effective in subverting the person's expectations. Take for instance Spec Ops: The Line. Looks like a boring military shooter, but is actually a grim look into the horrors of war.

Liz

With the persistence of time to press onward and the ringing of the bell, her first few classes had gone by without a second glance, and really, it just felt like the usual day for Liz, more homework, more teachers pissed off at her for not turning in her homework, more detention hours for knocking out someone for calling her a name or two in scoffing, yep....pretty much the average day at school. But the bright side of it all was after the same old grind, lunch had soon arrived, just in time because she was already starving.

She treaded into the cafeteria, cutting in line per her usual style, snatching up a turkey, tomato and avocado sandwich with gouda on wheat with light mayo and an iced coffee. After she paid for her lunch, she decided to leave the cafeteria for the outside, where she sat at a picnic bench on the school campus by herself, sticking in her earbuds and pressing play on her MP3 player, bobbing her head softly to Mountains by Message to Bears and scribbling in her sketchbook while she ate in peace.

Kyle....her thoughts went to him for some obscure reason, some reason she couldn't fathom. Well...he was a cool guy and just about the only person Liz could relate to somewhat. She thought of maybe hanging out with him sometime, if he wasn't busy always working his ass off. Wait...no...bad idea. Besides, he probably enjoyed his peace, just as much as she did. He wouldn't want some druggie wasting his time.

@KatherinWinterSorry... I'll go fix it.

EDIT: Thy grievous error hath been corrected! I decided on it being placed there by Kurohime's Master.
Look, I'm open to all kinds of kinks, lady, but I am NOT sticking that gun up my ass!

Closing the door behind her, she noted of how quaint it felt. It was as the man described it, though, for such an illustrious school, Kurohime had suspected the rooms would be a bit more...welcoming. The walls were bleached white, bare and naked, contrasting so blatant with the polished black furniture. Perhaps it was just her room that looked like this. After all, it didn't really matter how the room appeared to her, just as long as she could close herself off from the rest of this world she knew next to nothing about...except its cruelty.

Slipping out of her shoes and setting her katana by the door, she made her way across the plush carpet to the dresser. There was already a CD player, silver, on top of it, along with a few CDs, most of them unmarked, more than likely a gift procured not from the white haired owner...but perchance...another white haired man. Hmm...how nice of Master.

Kurohime picked one from the bunch and set it in the small radio, pressing play then lying on her bed facing towards the window. The CD began to play as she shut her eyes, the melody, soft, beautiful, but quite melancholic. And as the music played, her shadows enveloped her like a thick cloud of translucent smoke, till she too blended in with the black of the room, nothing more than an infinite sea....of darkness.

Another white haired man had entered the scene, albeit, his demeanor overall was more friendly and inviting, a very stark contrast to the one Kurohime called Master, but just about as obscure and enigmatic as he. So she was here to train it seemed, become stronger, but for what? Her prowess with a katana was adequate at most, however, she didn't think this school was one for teaching the deadly arts. No...all these others, these children...they had something in common with Kurohime, but exactly what remained a mystery.

There was one, a red headed boy, spry and witty. One moment he was with the crowd and the next...he was gone, abruptly returning yet again. The mere spectacle baffled the dark haired girl. Why am I here? She pondered. Nevertheless, she held her blade close to her and made her way through the crowd. She just wanted to go to her room, a place quiet...away from all these people.

In her haste to get away however, she accidentally shoulder checked a pink haired girl in the crowd. She didn't stop though to give an immediate apology. Instead, she kept walking.

The limousine she rode in was rather elegant, yet...it also felt rather foreboding, black, dark as Death's tattered robes. The obsidian sheen of the vehicle shined amidst the light of the early morning sun cresting over the hills with a gilded shimmer and bathing any and all in its soothing warmth as it rose to signal the beginning of yet another day. The girl, who sat quietly and entranced in thought, her katana, sheathed in a polished black saya, resting across her lap, she sighed a tad bothersome closing her blood red eyes for a moment, then opening them again.

"This is our stop." The man who was sitting beside her said shattering the demure silence. Sure enough, as the lovely scenery had fleeted away, the building came into view, such an illustrious academy it was....and yet...she had no reason why she was here. Only the masked man seated next to her knew. Not long, the limousine came to a halt. The driver stepped out first and opened the door for the two.....and then....into the beaming light of the sun she emerged, garbed in but a simple black and red seifuku with shoes and socks to match. "Remember what I told you, Kurohime."

Kurohime, slowly she turned to face the taller man, looming over her like a dark cloud, his voice hoarse...and oh so grim... "Do not grow attached to anyone. You are here to learn, and that is all. The fate of the world is not our concern. If we hear different...there will be consequences."

"Yes....master..." She whispered in reply, tightening her grip on her sword. "I will not disappoint you..."

The white haired man gave a curt nod and back into the limo he went, driving away and leaving the girl known as Kurohime to her own device. With yet another sigh, she turned on her heels and stared up at the massive structure, noting of the others who had arrived so shortly. Not a word she spoke to them, nor a glance given, as silently she tarried towards the entrance with her head held down.
