Current 10+ years of an RP idea, finally finished, on 10.10.2025. Goodnight Raven Squad, you were the best, wildest, most silly near future SOF RP that lived on the guild, and you got a worthy send off :)

Bio

I've RP'd for the best part of over 15 years now here on the Guild, and particularly like military settings, both contemporary, past and near future. I have even dabbled in a little more experimental RPs, as well as created a plethora of 1x1s over my time in the guild. I like creating RPs with a distinct flavour- and often shift between narrative-led RPs to semi-randomised plots. I've been more a GM lately than a player, and don't really lean into fandom- instead, exploring my own universes lifting themes from other source material.

My main interests are military-themed, near-future RPs, with a focus on technology. But I'm beginning to push what that RP idea looks like- taking inspiration from lots of media and focussing on the fun, indulgent side of RP, whilst also exploring the lows and emotional side.

Raven Squad is a project over seven years in the making, and focusses on a class-based, eccentric yet half-grounded near future special forces team that acts as a response team where you can't send any special forces team in. It's incredibly dumb, incredibly loose, and yet, has delivered some of my favourite plot points in RPG. A brainless action flick a la John Wick and Kingsman meets a complex thriller with a fun left turn in it, Raven has been the culmination of over a decade of loving special forces RPG, gaming influences and other silliness in a package that has provided players with something quite different to a normal military themed RPG. While at an end, this is an RP that is a signature- it's silly as hell, takes itself barely seriously, and is what peak fun military RPG to me should be.

Delta Hyper is a love letter to Wipeout, F1's Drive to Survive (Netflix) and contemporary Formula One, with influences from solarpunk, cyberpunk, transhumanism and other posthumanist concepts. An RP that follows pilots in their ups and downs, it's a story that hasn't got me playing an actual character, but framing the camera at each pilot (played by others), and presenting it as if it were a documentary. Lifting elements from TTRPG, this is a Racing RPG like no other and no parallel exists- using dice rolls and randomisation, with a stats-driven system to generate race results, rather than actually RPing the races, players experience the fast-paced, dynamic world of anti-gravity racing. This means that come Qualifying and Race, the results are genuinely a surprise to everyone- and based on decisions made through dilemmas and decisions made between races. Friendships, rivalry, the glamour and even a little political undertone play out in 2094, in a colourful, utopian future that focuses on the fight to take first place.

Then there's Tactical Breach Wizards: Fireteam Hex. First use of any set IP as a formal setting, this is an RP that offers a darker mirror to Raven Squad, focussing on the other side of the equation- unlikely heroes in an uncomfortable position. I don't normally do fantasy, but the world, the lore, the feeling of the characters and the ability to write a comedy just was too difficult to pass up. An RP that focuses on a group running away from a variety of threats as wanted mercenary wizards in the middle of a post-revolution, Eastern-Europe adjacent 1990s to present Polavia.

Lastly, Dispatch: Heroes of Claremont. This is another IP-adjacent world, albeit drawing on a different setting and a new cast of superheroes. As my "first" proper superhero RP, this combines workplace comedy, a Storyteller-lite system and a fun, diverse, and large cast together in a dynamic, diverse setting.

I'm pretty flexible and try and get back to people on ideas and responses, but sometimes, I may become very busy and it will take some time till I am un-busy. I aim to clear posts within a week!

Yaay. I'm working on the rest of it now- I won't have the responses to the others as a result of Garland being occupied with Jehrilla, though it is the first thing that will come in the next post. TLDR, don't expect anything significant- more of an "Oh, okay then" to everyone.

Yeah, I think the Tyrell household needs to be fucking marred, it's almost fate that something as horrid as that has to happen, and Garland will watch his Maester die, the very man teaching his brother and who probably taught him- feel free to place Garland in his chambers when that happens, kinda like I sort of have mentioned in PM. And guess what...who does he think responsible? A man who sent a head in a box, or a man threatening war, who is a dirty Westerman? Let the shit fly, because it will be one, or the other, and even I haven't decided....
Holy shit, that was a fucking Faceless Man. Welp, lucky Daenys didn't get asked to make a bigger sacrifice than the money in his pocket...when it happens, I can tell it will jar Garland significantly.

Manatee, you ready to go? I'm on the same Titanpad :)
*hums Game of Thrones theme quietly*

Also, I had a look at Loras's armour from GoT for reference as a result of Tumbleton coming into town for a vague thought, I feel that while it's not the standard each Reach Lord can attend to, it's one that Garland surpasses in terms of how incredibly crafted and beautiful it looks, which says something (Willas having something as a mixed garb of a Kingsguard's and that). Holy fuck, it's like someone took an Artisan to a Blacksmith's, and sweet love emerged. Maybe the helmet looks a little...well, it's weird. The Lannisters might have almost Japanese-inspired armour, I am genuinely trying to think what part of Europe that this armor was inspired from for the Reach, it's fascinating plate.

Hey, I'm interested in plate :)

THIS.

The irony is fucking amazing, I don't care what context, but it's a real irony.

Also, can we go to that Titanpad (@agentmanatee), and work on our Collab? It won't be long, it will be a part of my post when it comes to it, involving Kevan. I should say, Willas wasn't in the Throne room, he was in the Barrack of the City Watch.

Well considering the Starks are part Tully in the first place, Jullon has a claim to that sword. But also this is a game of thrones, people can turn on a dime.

Ah, Northerners. Arguing over swords, Garland's busy with his one :D But seriously, it's a lovely change in dynamics. I have heard a lot on the Baratheons, and from what I've heard is implied, they'll be allied to the Tyrells, and potentially by marriage too- as a result of their weakened state, and something that I've chatted about with @bluetommy2.

I should note, if you write a single letter to Garland about the Wall, he will barely shit a fuck. He lives almost as far as you can get (Dorne may be worse). It's like telling someone in Scotland they're going to be affected by seal level rise. They do not care.
Wow, an evil Stark? Interesting. Garland is that good on paper, but Alerie does subdivert that, just a tad... :P
It was a good read- both came along well.
Holy shit, we are going fast. Tomorrow evening, prepare for wine, arguments, tits, and more importantly, one hell of a set of responses.
Yeah sure- PM or put here a Titanpad/Piratepad, and I can get to work on that end of things in a couple of days time- right now, I'm going back to Bristol, hence I'm going to be quite busy.
@Major Ursa

A real one? I don't mind whoever posts, I feel like it would be healthy to see a circulation go through in posts, before it comes back to me. The North first, for certain, then myself. Now there is a Northman, Tyron could get in contact with his adjacent Lord.

Anyway, I'll post probably in a couple days, I want to work on something big. Namely, Willas will be speaking to Kevan, and it's going to be a funny little meeting that, not so much blood. The Tumbletons arriving will be that post, taking the action forward a couple of days, and basically, what happens next is anyone's guess. It really is- and from here, even Garland's next moves are going to start coming across onto paper, as he chats to Jehrilla.
I see a little of Bran in her, actually. Rickard is a character who I can't imagine ever running the Reach, I think he won't be the heir de jure, that is more likely to pass to Willas, or Alerie at this point, or even outside the branch.

I love how we have these incredible, awesome characters, then the shit one on the side, almost every time, either young or just a bit meh. So....to continue our arguement, my shit one's better then your shit one, he might be a fucking cripple but he's a clever little cripple :D
Oooh, Essosi backing would be fun right there. Throw Lys or Pentos, now that would be interesting in it's own right to his claim. I bet it would be the one he would perhaps swing him into favour. Unlikely, but still, worth a mention.
