"Uh... Huh." Kyouma said, nodding his head at Torako's antics. Her enthusiasm, though understandable, wanted to bring her as close to danger as possible. Though, admittedly, he himself was also quite curious...
But that might only lead to one of them getting hurt in the near future. That could be quite... Well, 'bad' was probably the easiest way of describing that hypothetical scenario, but probably wouldn't stop her since she had misinterpreted his words. Hm.
"Hold on, I'm coming, I'm coming." he said, calmly walking after his underclassman as she dashed on ahead. Well, he may as well humor her antics before telling her the truth; it wasn't as if he was losing anything by doing so.
Then he remembered the steak still sitting in his microwave, which elicited a growl from his stomach. Right. Food. Resolving this thing came first, of course, but next was going back home to eat. Then studying.
Wow, honestly didn't expect kind of overwhelming response when I first posted this up. I'll get a form written up soon enough, along with a more detailed post and a place to drop forms (aka the actual thread).
However, there's obviously the issue of the AMOUNT of people here; I planned to keep the group to about half of those who are showing interest, so I apologize in advance to those who end up not making the cut.
Sometimes... Sometimes, things really don't go as you'd expect them to. Successes turn into failures, jokes into cruel derision, and even profits turn into losses. Even death is often sudden, and people, being as they are, never really see it coming. But, as they say, there can always be stranger. But what could be stranger than death, whose existence, though understandable in the scientific context, still cannot be fully grasped?
You wake amidst a sea of red and white grasses, which obviously sets off some alarms inside your head. Perhaps you were studying for an exam, reading a book, even browsing the internet or playing a game- whatever it was, you're certain that this was NOT where you had been before. The grogginess of sleep is rapidly replaced by alarm, though, as you turn and look at yourself; you're certainly not the person you had been. Maybe you look the same, maybe you look radically different; whatever the case is, something is DEFINITELY not right here. The clothes you wear only give a similar impression; they seem to be made from leather and wool and the like, quite similar to what those in the Middle Ages wore way back when.
Thrown into such a strange scenario, you come to notice that a few other people seem to be acting much as you are now- with panic, confusion, and denial. But you still remain here, lost in this plain of unfamiliar grass.
From here, your adventure in a foreign land begins, though obviously not of your own volition. Do you try to escape whatever force has dragged you into this mess, or rise to the challenge this world has so carelessly fraught upon you?
------ So, as you may have ascertained already, this RP will entail the lives of a small group of people (I'm hoping 4-5 at most) from present-day Earth as they are tossed into a fantasy world with absolutely no prior warning whatsoever. Though they may appear different, their memories remain the same as they were back on Earth, albeit with a few extras added in (like the sudden knowledge of a foreign language). The goal? Well, that's for the players to decide... Well, for now, at least.
Notable aspects of the situation: -Characters are not necessarily human anymore; elves, dwarves, beastfolk, and the like all exist in this world. Though your character may, by some chance or circumstance, remain a human, their appearance may differ greatly (or not at all) from what it used to be. Of course, that doesn't mean that they can't look the same as they did before. -Magic does exist in this world; it is categorized under six elemental affinities: fire, water, earth, air, holy, and unholy. The type of magic, in turn, is categorized by its performance: beginner, intermediate, expert, and master. Most, if not all magic, is cast through incantations or magic circles. As of their entry into the world, though, no player character has knowledge that magic even exists here. -As was common back in the day, interracial prejudice is prominent; those who associate between races are few and far between. At the end of the day, only merchants and mercenaries really have such contact, if at all.
I'll get some forms drafted up in a bit and flesh things out a bit more in the future, but... Yeah, just out of curiosity, how interested are people in this RP?
The walk back inside the mansion was fairly uneventful, save for the few maids that gave him odd glances as he walked by. Well, that much was to be expected; after what had just transpired, he was bound to be looked down upon by them... And probably everyone else, but that didn't really bother him as much as it should have. So what if they looked down on him for such a thing? Wasn't their problem.
The fact that he had met everyone already filing out of the dungeon probably meant that the worst of this crap was over and that he could safely assume that someone else was dealing with that giant-ass crystal instead... Which was convenient, to be sure.
"Planning a defense, you say...?" he asked, nodding his head in faked understanding. "Alright, since this place is about as crazy as it gets, I'll let you decide for me."
Well, hopefully enough, he'd get paired with someone that wouldn't call him out for his own... Well, even in his mind he hesitated calling it 'fear'... Maybe dislike was a more apt term for the situation. Either way...
Choosing to let the cyber-kid's and his pet robo-alien thing's words pass through one ear and out the other, Gintoki sighed and sheathed his bokuto for the moment. It was much less effort to keep it at his side than carry it around in that position the entire time, after all...
Kakine
Ignoring Index's complaints about the entire ordeal, Kakine turned to Lucina and nodded his head in approval of her offer. Letting the crazy magician bounce around like she usually did would probably lead to more headache for everyone involved, and though he didn't like having to restrain her as he did it seemed to be quite necessary.
"That'd be nice, though gathering up what seems to be a crate's worth of goods seems to be... A bit of a daunting task." he said as he slowly reeled in his catch. As soon as she was close enough, Kakine turned over to Touma, who at this point was greeting 10032 like it was nothing out of the ordinary.
"Kamijou Touma. The witch still has custody of Magic God Othinus, correct?" "...Yeah, I'm pretty sure she does."
Sighing, Kakine put his hands on the net, which immediately probed around Marisa's pockets and found the person in question. Pulling her out with no effort to spare, the Dark Matter immediately spat her out and into Touma's hands.
"Well, that should resolve that issue. Excuse us for taking up your time like this." Kakine stated as he turned towards the Windowless Building, Marisa still in tow. "Whenever you're ready, we're heading out."
Hazama
Hazama tossed a furtive glance at the weird person... Thing floating inside the containment unit. It reminded him heavily of a Murakumo unit, they way it looked, which gave him a pretty good idea of how to deal with the hermit, given half the chance. He'd have to work for it, sure, but if he got to...
The Leader's words, however, seemed to have more of an impact on him than his own desire for revenge, and he nodded his head, digging through his thoughts with his eyes closed (even if they always seemed to be closed anyhow).
"Yeah, I think so too. But it's gonna be difficult getting that signature without forging it. If we have documents on hand, I could probably do the job myself..." he trailed off before shaking his head. "And even then, I'm not entirely sure that hermit would be compliant. Just out of curiosity... Do you, by any chance, have a soul I could use? I could craft myself some backup just in case things went south."
"No, not a samurai. Not anymore, at least. I'm just a simple freelancer these days; nothing more, nothing less." Gintoki smiled, swinging his bokuto over his shoulder as little miss Frankenmaid asked if he was going to go back inside. Well, since he just saw that the ghost maid was outside, so if he wanted to go as far away from her as possible...
"Well, I guess I've had enough fresh air for now." he said, handing the empty cup back to the undead maid before walking to the door. "I'm kind of bound by contract at this point, so I'll be heading in back to them. I guess."
With that said, Gintoki walked back inside the Castlevania-esque mansion and back down towards that... Unsettling dungeon. Damn these contracts and their lack of details!
Suwako
Suwako let out a subconscious "oooh!" as she watched the portal spring to life, her eyes sparkling with excitement. This was what moving through world should be like! Nothing like that creepy-as-heck gap full of eyes that the hag used... Wait, what was that killing intent that she just felt? ... Oh well, didn't matter. Point was, this was MUUUCH more inviting than something straight out of the Underworld!
"Alrighty, I'm coming too!" Suwako declared before taking a few steps back and, after a deep breath, ran at the portal before diving into it. Though the shift in worlds was as disorienting as her first trip had been (to the desert, of course), the end result this time was much less painful as she landed on her feet, right next to where Black Rock Shooter had moments earlier.
Kakine
Kakine stared at Marisa's location as he approached the site of combat, slowly releasing strands of Dark Matter from his fingertips as he readied for a fight. Extending his hands outwards, he quickly shot the strands further outwards and around Marisa to form an interwoven net of the material. At the same time, Kakine also diverted some of the material to latch onto Marisa's broom and, in one movement, sent the Dark Matter extending from his hands into the ground to keep the net in place.
"I do believe that's enough trouble for one day, Ms. Kirisame. You see, this was why I was worried about bringing you here in the first place..." he sighed before feeding more Dark Matter into the strands that were latching onto her broom and turning them more into thick cables bound to the ground.
"...Kamijou. I'd recommend you not attempt to reach her this time, lest you destroy the barrier I've put up." Touma, of course, could only stand by and wait this time. Regardless of what he usually did, the Level 5 did have a point...
Hazama
Well, that was certainly... Convenient. He had set out to resolve one issue, but had returned to deal with another... Which meant, of course, that he was probably going to be chewed out or something for coming back in the first place. Shit. Well, no matter. He'd resolve the issues at hand, one way or another. If that meant getting reprimanded by the big boss, then so be it. Taking a deep breath and calming himself as much as he could, Hazama walked off to wherever the hell it was the boss tended to be... Which, recently, seemed to be with that weird-ass not-human girl that she spirited away a while back.
A few minutes of walking later, he had made it all the way to that laboratory, which, admittedly, reminded him quite aptly of Kokonoe's place.
"You called?" he asked, opening the door and looking around the place for any trace of the leader. Well, she was supposed to be here...?
Kyouma stared at Torako momentarily before sighing; though the answer she gave him clearly had absolutely no meaning behind it, the fact that she was so worked up about someone probably meant that it was better to leave than not. Well, if it meant getting a more comprehensive answer, that would be fine by him. And with all the research he had done last night...
"...Alright. I guess if you're that worried about it, fine. I've needed to tell you the results of last night's research anyhow." he said, shaking his head before turning around and walking to the lockers, where he quickly swapped his shoes back out before walking out of the building.
"...You ARE done with whatever it is you needed to do here, correct? You were worked up about the President finding ME here, but what about you?"
Well, he was curious. It wasn't as if he spent much time after school anyhow...
Aaand there we go. It's a lot more than what I'm used to writing, admittedly, but I dunno. Kinda wanted to go a bit further for this post and actually detail the transition from there to here.
Hopefully, taking control of the receptionist will be fine as is right now.
To Shinsuke, the seemingly-organized chaotic nature of the city of Regala was not one he cared much for; having spent the last few years of his life cooped up in his home (with the occasional venture outdoors for chores and the like), a place like this was a far cry from what he was used to. No, rather, it was the complete opposite of the leisurely life he led back home, where the most exciting part of his day would be finding a dusty old book and cleaning it off to see its contents. Granted, it wasn't much excitement (and to most, it'd probably be nothing more than a relic of a bygone past), but to him it had been his livelihood. But, of course, he tired of the constant comparisons, the pity, the disdain... And thus, he made his decision to follow along the beaten path, hoping it would lead to a route different from what he had seen time and time again.
Yes, he hoped for change, but he didn't wish for the same cookie-cutter journey that everyone else had been through. Journeying through a region, be it alone or with others, always seemed to play out the same; his conversations with his former peers told him as much. No, he wanted something different, and though he knew that most journeys were unique in their own strange way, he wanted something a bit more than the standard romp around Hoenn, which he knew far too well from his parents' infrequent visits to other cities within the region. Of course, the arrival of Hanzo- the Froakie currently sitting on top of his head- and the suggestion to compete in the Sengun region instead had been a blessing of sorts. Of course, most people preferred not to change from what was known (he was, of course, no exception to this rule), so it was only after a bit of steady deliberation with his parents that he decided to push through with it. They were ecstatic, so Shinsuke thought he should be as well- or, at the very least, somewhat happy. After all, their only son was finally going off to see the world with his own eyes.
The boat ride over to the Sengun region was fairly uneventful; his father's friend, who had accompanied him there, had encouraged him to spend the trip worrying less about the journey to come and more taking joy in the here-and-now. So he did. With all of his goods fully packed away in his bag and all of his other belonging safely tucked away within his pockets, Shinsuke had spent the trip trying to communicate with Hanzo. The endeavor was met with varying degrees of success, and seeing as how Pokemon didn't exactly speak the human language at all (those rare few exceptions he had heard of aside), Shinsuke had to rely on a long series of trial-and-error tests in order to see what the Froakie did and did not understand. The trip had ended uneventfully, for the most part; the best thing that the relationship between the two could be described as afterwards was 'acquainted with one another.' The day they had spent in Mystriver, too, was spent in much of the same way. On the upside, the town felt familiar to Shinsuke, who, having grown up in Sootopolis City, was used to the excess of water surrounding him. The next day, he had taken the Airship over to Regala, which had led him to where he was now.
The atmosphere was suffocating at worst and overly cramped at best to him, but since he was here now there was no turning back. Left with a map of the city and an encouraging message from his father's acquaintance (along with all of his other packed goods), Shinsuke looked around the streets where he was now and tried to put his map into perspective. His choice of attire- his usual getup combined with his lab coat- probably made him stand out among the crowd, and probably even moreso as he continued trying to interpret the map.
"Hm... If this is as I believe it to be..." he muttered under his breath as Hanzo, sitting casually on his shoulder, yawned as it waited for Shinsuke to make his move.
"Oh, alright. That doesn't seem to be too far from here. Convenient."
With that, Shinsuke rapidly folded up the map and placed it in one his his labcoat's pockets before heading off towards the laboratory. The walk was short, luckily enough, and the view of the kingdom's castle was pleasantly surprising. He marveled at the grandeur of the complex for moment, but no more; he could take it in more after he had registered for the region's League. Acting as if he was on a time limit, Shinsuke quickly walked up to the lab's doors. Now THIS... THIS was a place he could get behind. Though the giant tree was a bit strange, it remained a laboratory. A place of intellectual pursuit was one that suited him best, it seemed.
Taking a deep breath, Shinsuke walked forward, the doors parting in front of him, almost as if beckoning him to enter. He obliged, and was met with a well-lit, clean, and calm reception room. Taking a look around him, Shinsuke noticed a few people sitting around... And the receptionist at the desk. Right. He should get on that.
"Erm... Excuse me, sir." he said, bowing slightly to the man. "The Trainer registrations are here today, correct?" "Yes, you'd be right about that." the man responded in turned, tapping away at his computer. "May I have a name so we can prepare everything for you after everything's been said and done?" "Oh, right. Sorry for my rudeness. My name's Shinsuke Yamada; I came here from Sootopolis City in the Hoenn region." Shinsuke said, bowing again towards the man. "No need to be so formal. Sootopolis, huh? Hear it's a pretty nice place. Anyhow, just sit down over there and relax; we'll call you up when everything's ready."
Thanking the man, Shinsuke walked over to a nearby seat and promptly sat down. Well, this was to be expected, after all...
Appearance: Standing at a good 5'10" but with a sort of lankiness to his stature, Shinsuke's dark brown eyes and relatively black hair (with a few white streaks here and there) are put into heavy contrast with his pale skin, a byproduct of his lack of drive to head out into the world. As a result of his studies, Shinsuke wears a pair of glasses, half-rimmed and light, in order to correct his nearsightedness. His hair is of medium length and is usually unkempt in apperance, but it doesn't bother him much since he doesn't worry much about appearances anyhow. In terms of clothing, Shinsuke is often seen wearing a white collared T-shirt and a pair of jeans, oftentimes with a lab coat to accompany them. The one thing that stands out among this ensemble, though, is the sterling silver necklace with an emerald pendant at its center, a gift from his parents as he set out for his trip overseas. He has since refused to take it off, regardless of the situation. Along with this standard ensemble, Shinsuke also carries around an azure sling bag, within which he carries his belongings around as he travels throughout the region. His belt is equipped with six clips from which he intends to hang his Pokeballs around, and the myriad pockets on his coat often carry whatever other minor goods that he cannot fit into his pack.
Personality: Shinsuke's history as a student has left him with little experience in interpersonal relationships, if any. Since most people went to Trainer School instead of studying texts as he did, he was more often than not left at home to mull over his own work and ideas. As a result, he usually appears to be cold and aloof, if only through lack of experience with others. A lack of experience with Pokemon, too, has left him innately curious about their behavior, how they act, and how they function, which occasionally leads to him getting a bit too nosy and possibly invoking the wrath of whatever Pokemon he just so happens to be bothering. In regards to people, Shinsuke is unusually polite, given how little experience he has with other people his age and lack of any sort of informality. The trait has thus made him seem like a robot to an extent, which only worsens any chance of making any lasting friendships with people (as, more often than not, they are turned away by his demeanor). However, the drive to achieve fame and glory remains strong with him, which often leads Shinsuke to try for near-perfectionism so that he may one day catch up to all of those people who started years ahead of him.
Profession: Formerly a student, now a fully-fledged Pokemon Trainer.
Talents: Due to his history studying (primarily) biology and medical science, Shinsuke is able to perform very rudimentary medical care for both humans and Pokemon, the former moreso than the latter. Though such treatment obviously pales in comparison to regular medical care, he is able to deal with issues such as sprains, broken bones, dislocated joints and the like if too far away from a hospital... For a while, at least.
Starter Pokémon: A male Froakie with Pound, Growl, and Bubble; ability is Protean, nature is Timid. Shinsuke has taken to calling it Hanzo since their first meeting, which it has (apparently) taken a liking towards.
Inventory: -A standard-issue PokeNAV, issued by Devon Corp. back in Hoenn. -15 Pokeballs and a single Quick Ball -10 Potions -Roughly P$600 in cash in his wallet -About P$1000 stored on a card, also within his wallet -Emergency medical supplies, such as rubbing alcohol, tweezers, a compress, towel, aspirin, etc.; nothing too large, such as crutches or splints, though. -Enough clothes for a 3-day trip, at most. -A sleeping bag, collapsable tent, a few packs of steel wool and two 9-volt batteries -A small pot
Hometown: Sootopolis City, Hoenn Region
Unlike most trainers in Hoenn at an early age, Shinsuke decided to dedicate more time towards practical studies than journeying the world and exploring what the region had to offer. His parents, though surprised by the irregularity, didn't seem to worry too much about it. So as others his age fought amongst themselves for a chance at glory, Shinsuke was hunched over textbooks, understanding how the bodies of both humans and Pokemon worked. Of course, after a few years or so of watching his peers climb to the top and emerge victorious, Shinsuke felt a tinge of disappointment within himself. Sure, he would likely contribute to his home in the future, but... The fame and glory that lorded over him and mocked him for not pursuing the standard path in life always took whatever chances it could get to shove it in his face. As time went on, Shinsuke only found more scorn from his peers, with whom he had nothing to relate to. While they boasted on about how they captured X Pokemon or took down Y Trainer, Shinsuke could only nod his head, acting as if he could understand them. It was a foreign world to a person whose only fascination was with medical texts and how humans, not Pokemon, went about as they did, and went about his days thinking instead of training. Those days continued to pass as the children he used to see running around the city returned with new partners at their side and Shinsuke left to wonder how his life might have been different if he had taken the road more oft traveled by. That changed, however, when one day a family friend (his father's acquaintance) offered him a Froakie and a journey overseas to Sengun to make a name for himself. After all, as he put it, what good was a genius with no experience? Though he was still on the fence about the entire ordeal, his parents ended up convincing him (by the end of it all) to go out and see the world; he had done enough studying for one childhood, and he might as well start on a journey later than never.
Notes: Likes to eat meat. He'll eat anything, really, but he REALLY likes his meat.
