The immediate breaking-up of the group as everyone walked into the forest caught Shinsuke off-guard. While everyone else seemed to know exactly what they were going to do and seemingly had a plan in mind, he was left standing awkwardly along the path towards the bridge. Their younger guide had said something about battling, and though he knew that was how the whole system worked, Shinsuke found himself unable to follow the two girls who had already broken away. Instead, he opted to silently walk along the path; he had had enough chaos for now, and this breath of fresh air would (hopefully) do him some good.

As he continued walking along, the sights and sounds of nature seemed to come to life for him. THIS was what he envisioned his journey to be; not a continuous slaughterfest and struggles between man and nature, but one of some semblance of peace that he could only dream of back at home. It was nowhere near the mood of his room, filled to the brim with documentation, but this was a different sort of peace.

"I can see why so many people love traveling like this..." Shinsuke mused to himself as Hanzo casually hopped off of his shoulder and started to walk alongside him instead. The din of the other Trainers seemed to disappear as Shinsuke finally found himself wandering off the main path and past the trees that had been lining it, instead being replaced by the cries and chirps of Pokemon abound. It was new; not necessarily exciting, but it was new.

Though many of the cries were unfamiliar to Shinsuke, there were a few Pokemon that he recognized as he continued on through the trees. The occasional growl of a Poochyena or the mewling of a Skitty made their way to is ears, which comforted him somewhat. His mother had always liked keeping one of the latter at home, if only for its appearance. He really couldn't understand the appeal of how they looked but... Well, to each their own.

A few more minutes of treading among the forest later, Shinsuke found himself at a small brook, clean water flowing through it and down towards lower ground. As he stepped forward and motioned Hanzo to check it out with him, Shinsuke felt something land on his head. It wasn't a branch or anything- No, rather, this felt like a bird or something. Cautiously reaching for whatever was on him with both hands, Shinsuke was surprised to find that whatever it was, it felt like... A pillow?

"...Wait a second..." Shinsuke said before slowly reaching for his Pokedex and taking it out before aiming it right above his head. The description that he read soon after came as no surprise; these things were all over the place back home... Well, mainly on the other side of the region, but still.

"A Swablu, huh?" he asked himself, walking to the brook and taking a seat nearby before carefully plucking the Pokemon off of his head and placing in in front of him. The Swablu simply cocked its head in curiosity as he did so, making no suggestion as to if it was hostile or not. Well, from what he had read in the description, these things didn't exactly fear humans... No, rather, they seemed to do silly things like that more than anything else. As Hanzo finally made his way over to the brook, Shinsuke and the Swablu found themselves staring at one another, waiting for the other side to make a move. It was strange, sure, but it was intriguing more than anything else.

After what seemed to be an eternity for both sides (though in actuality, it was nothing more than a few minutes), Shinsuke finally began to speak, in what was his attempt at communication.

"Do you want to join us?"

It was a simple question, but Shinsuke's point seemed to get to the little Swablu as it turned to face Hanzo, a playful expression on the former's face. Seemed it was time for a fight.

"...I guess that's how this works, right?" Shinsuke sighed, motioning towards the Swablu as is this was some rehearsed play of some sort. "Hanzo: Bubble, Bubble, Pound. Use the trees to your advantage; don't let up."

The words came out of his mouth like clockwork, and Hanzo followed accordingly, slipping between the trees and occasionally scaling them or diving behind them to get out of the way of the Swablu's constant attempts to Peck and attacking the Swablu from its blind spots. The constant hit-and-run was, of course, a bit underhanded, but this was a battlefield, after all. Only a few minutes of this back-and-forth later, and the Swablu was put to near-exhaustion, teetering left and right as it struggled to keep its balance. Now was the time.

With a flick of his hand, Shinsuke tossed a Pokeball at the little Pokemon, the ball shaking left and right as the Swablu struggled to make its way out. Sadly, that too was in vain, and Shinsuke found himself with a new party member. But before anything else, he needed to treat its wounds. Sending out the Swablu next to the brook, Shinsuke opened his Pokedex to check over the stats of the Cotton Bird as it attempted to recover..

Aas the Swablu carefully preened its feathers next to the water, washing away all the dirt and grime it had accumulated from the battle, Shinsuke read the Pokedex's documentation out loud, just as he had done with his texts back home. "Let's see... Female. Normal and Flying. Knows Peck and Growl. Ability is Natural Cure..."

As he rattled off the stats that popped up on the Pokedex, Shinsuke found himself remembering that he needed to name the Swablu. Right. Well, this was always the hardest part about it all.

"Erm... How does the name 'Kumie' sound?" he asked the Swablu tentatively, waiting for a response. What he got was a simple nod, which he could only assume it was okay with. Well, that was simple.

"Alright, Kumie it is. It's a pleasure to have you with us. Now... Which way is the main road?"
Yeah, that last thing was what I really needed a refresher on. Thanks for that and the best wishes.

I should be able to get my brother's laptop tomorrow for the rest of my stay here, and if that goes well I should be able to get a post out. Hopefully.
Currently admitted to a hospital, so a post might be delayed temporarily.

My 3DS has net access, luckily enough, but I can't open some spoiler tags for some odd reason. Are there rules for Hidden Ability Pokemon and their rate of appearance?
Marcus bit his lip as he heeded Nova's words, cautiously moving around the burnt grass and brush at his feet as if to not disturb the final resting place of the fallen. In fact, he even contemplated burying the dead, for whatever good it might be now. He didn't particularly like the stench of burnt human flesh, and he was pretty sure the two girls who had followed him here weren't either. Though... To be quite honest, they weren't exactly in a position to bury them in the first place. Fow now, it seemed, he'd have to let nature reclaim them on its own.

"...Maybe the line and this incident are related...?" he mused to himself as he continued to scour the place for usable goods. Well, the pot over the now-defunct campfire seemed to be... Relatively intact? They'd need to clean it out first if it was to be made usable, if it even was at this point...

Wait. The pot didn't melt? With this heat still covering the area? What the hell?

"...That... Can't be. That goes against the laws of thermodynamics..." Marcus muttered as he quickly moved over to examine the pot in closer detail. Upon closer inspection, it seemed to have a half-destroyed mark of some sort on the bottom of it. The mark itself seemed to be mirrored down the center, but...

"...I think... This was intentional." he said, carefully picking up the pot (which was, to his amazement, lighter than what he had expected). "Not sure what this design is for, but..."

Frowning as he stood up, Marcus took another way look around the campsite before sighing. It just didn't feel safe here, for obvious reasons. The sooner they could meet back up with Adam, the better.

"It can't be helped, but... We should salvage what we can from here and meet up with Adam ASAP. This whole thing seems engineered, and I wouldn't doubt that whoever or whatever caused this might still be lurking around..."

Well, examining the mark on it might also give some insight to the nature of this mess, but for now it was just a very suspicious-looking pot...

The room that Luke entered was, understandably, much tidier than the mine he had been in just minutes ago. Adorned left and right with various trophies of all sorts, the foreman's room felt like a more rustic version of a CEO's office.

Well, one with beast heads mounted left and right, at least.

The foreman himself seemed to exude an air of danger around him, and the pair of axes mounted on the wall seemed to only exaggerate that fact. Though his height was about the same as those guards from earlier, the marginally fancier attire and well-maintained beard put on a facade of dignity usually not associated with dwarves. The desk the foreman sat at was, of course, lined with gold, so as to flaunt his wealth. In a way, it was quite stereotypical.

"Hrm. So you're the human that dropped into the mines, right?" the foreman asked, his brown eyes carefully running over Luke as he himself stroked his beard. "Well, at the very least, you seem to have some manners. State your business here. I'm pretty sure there were no human settlements in the region, so your arrival is quite strange."

@SadCubone
I'll give @Tokki another day or so before continuing, just to be safe.
Gintoki

Gintoki flinched for a moment as the entire mansion around him seemed to shake, keeping his bokuto at the ready as he prepared for the chaos soon to come. He didn't have to wait long, luckily enough; the immediate airdrop by the enemy ship casually cruising overhead was, of course, immediately followed by a bunch of goons crashing through the roof. Right.

"God damn it, you guys! Can't you just use the door like NORMAL people?" he complained to the grunts training all of their guns and such on him. He could never catch a break with these fights, could he? Sighing and shaking his head, Gintoki quickly used his blade to swing a nearby table as the group in front of him opened fire. Quickly rolling to the side as the bullets annihilated the platform into a bunch of wooden shards and splinters, Gintoki quickly dashed around the hallway, smashing people in the face and barely dodging bullets left and right. The increase of bullets grazing by his body, though, had already given him a fair amount of wounds.

"You know, the lack of room to move around this place isn't making it any easier to dodge..." he muttered as he proceeded to use a nearby grunt's body to shield himself from returning fire.

Suwako

Suwako let out a nervous laugh as the weird techy soldier person (whose name she had really never gotten around to committing to memory) began to spout off his usual unintelligible jargon as if someone else could understand it. Well, dang. If there was anyone who could confuse people here more than anyone else, it'd have to be in. Taking the opportunity to do so, Suwako immediately wedged herself into the conversation unfolding in front of her and, almost as if to give the brown-haired girl (and her fairy companion) a bit of reprieve from the situation.

"Oh, don't mind him; he's always like this. Half the time, we can't understand what he's going on about, either." she laughed, casually moving the ground under the soldier to slowly drag him away from the girl. "So, uh... Yeah. Sorry 'bout the whole mess here; we're kiiinda lost right now. Could we ask about where we are right now? You know, continent, town, that sorta thing?"

Though it wasn't exactly the smoothest of transitions, it was at LEAST better than having this soldier rattle things off that flew over... Well, the heads of pretty much every person here. Except the little girl from earlier. Maybe. A BIG maybe.

Kakine

Aleister, unperturbed by the confusion that Lucina seemed to exude, found it more fitting to let the clone do the work here instead of doing it himself. It was much easier than manually altering the settings and such, after all. As he awaited a response from Lucina, though, the outburst from the spunky blonde witch caught his attention (which, by this point, had drifted to a few Kiharas working on their next experiment... And the cleanup crew standing by ready to cover up the inevitable mess that would come with it).

"I understand your confusion, but this IS how contracts work in our current day and age, after all. People find too much joy in making deals before finding ways around the obligations they have to fulfill that it's become quite baffling. But, if the wording is a bit too dense, I can simplify the issue for you. In short, within the terms of this contract, I shall provide lodging, funding, the ability to move freely about the city itself, and three meals a day- of your choice, of course. This does not come without cost, though; while you remain here, you must abide by the city's rules as they stand for your age group- in this case, those for students- and, if so needed, come to the defense of the city or handle certain requests of interest. I will not intrude on you any further than that. Should you accept this deal, you will be free to move about as if you were a normal citizen; else, you'll have to find another way to live in this city. Does that sound fair?" Aleister said, his eyes glancing over to Marisa's frustrated frown. "I assure you, there is nothing I have left out in my explanation, save for all the clauses that might come into conflict with the city itself. Regardless of your responses, unless you intend to cause harm to the city or its residents, you may come and go as you wish. You are by no means obligated to stay here, after all."

Kakine sighed at Aleister's explanation, glancing over the contract again with a half-jaded look on his face. Well, the Superintendent didn't seem to be lying, which was nice, but his long-winded explanations always tired him out a bit. Couldn't he just make an abbreviated version that had the extended contract tacked on or something? That would save him a ton of time. Maybe he found amusement in these people... Or something. Nobody could really quite tell with that stone-cold face of his, though, so there was little to no reason for him to continue worrying about it. What he did have to worry about, though, was Marisa's tendency to break rules. Was she the kind of person that would brek rules for the sake of breaking them?
...
Hopefully not. HOEPFULLY. NOT.
None here, nope.
Caster mused for a few minutes as he pondered the small set of possible locations to set up base in his mind. While the forest did seem enticing at first, he had to push those thoughts out of his mind. As easy as it was to set up there, the ability to siege against such a location and break through it from all sides was much too threatening for his tastes. No, in fact, of the remaining two, the burnt-down mansion seemed to best suit his taste for this particular scenario. The fact that Fio had mentioned the remaining location to be the 'site of the original town hall' made him worry about it; for all he knew right now, that location might have already been turned into something unsuitable for defense.

At the same time, though, the ruins of a mansion wasn't exactly the most reaffirming of options, but... He could make do with that, for sure. Might take a bit of remodeling, but it could work just as well, if not better, than what he was used to. Of course, checking out the third option was still there, but that was troublesome to his Master, especially given the fact that she was carrying all of his research materials. Maybe another time, then.

"Understood; personally, I would like to examine the latter two options, if it comes down to it. For now, though, I believe I would like for us to be unburdened before scouting out any of these aforementioned locations. Would it do us well to return back to your initial household for the moment?" he asked, looking around the area warily. Being ambushed like this was a death sentence, especially if the creator of this sigil was still lurking around the area...
Nah, just post. I'm not sure what else I could add to the situation anyhow. =P
