The difference is that I fully admit to being a bitch who has strong opinions, and people still find me enjoyable anyway because I don't act like a fucking dick. Besides, while I realise I'm not popular with about 4-5 people in off topic, you realise if I was as dreadfully unpopular as you are trying to insinuate, then Shine City wouldnt be a Mega RP spanning 4 seasons that even you couldnt resist joining and rejoining. I must have been doing something right.

I'm drawn to topics where people voice their opinions, negative or positive, because I like talking about shit with people who may or may not have similar interests. It's called conversation, try it sometime. If someone goes around making 'Only post positive opinions here' I'd be there too because it's a way to connect with the people on this website on a level other than 'that person has a cool gif'.

I 100% agree with you on Armored Core, probably the best example of a mature fanbase, really into the lore and continuity as well.

Jojo, I dont watch so I cant comment, I know I few very annoying people who watch it on my facebook, but I also notice a lot of people who used to be into Excel Saga (Remember that?) who say that Jojo is sorta like a spiritual successor (idk).

Gears of War fans do bitch, but its mainly about balancing weapons, which is fine to me because if you are going to complain about something in a game I dont mind as long as its constructive to the gameplay. You'd never see a silly shipping argument in GoW.

do you honestly need to bring this up every time someone you've had a fight with comments on your threads? what, am i gonna get added to the "dynamo's haters who like his threads" list, now? honestly, like fabricant said, there's no reason to point these things out when people are just trying to put differences aside and be mature.

Moving on, I find the Gears Of War fandom to be quite cool, because the story isnt particularly deep, there are few arugments over favourite characters, the only ones who stand out are those who dont like baird for whatever reason. Also they are very good at getting their voices heard by the devs.

Smash Bros fandom is dissapointing, mainly because of the angst of not being taken seriously by the very elitist FGC and the inevitible baggage of being a nintendo game for 'serious' players. Which is a shame because the game is one of my favourite.

I get a warm feeling when someone who cant stand me cant stay away from my threads. I count 5 this year.

DBZ fandoms are pretty cool, I think its because the fanbase are pretty old by this point and have shaken off a lot of the cringe rust that the newer animes have taken on. Not that I'm crazy about 'Suuper Saiyijn levl 7' OCs but overall its tolerable.

Elder Scrolls fanbase is the one of the strangest mixes of the worst of the casual gamer and the worst of the elitst gamer, and there is a certain beauty to watching those fireworks erupt in the message boards and comment sections. A lot of the fan faction, while I wouldnt call good, is surprisingly fleshed out.

Outcasts Of Fortune: A Mecha RP

Super shite W.I.P. but I'm done for the night. I have a lot of things to work out for his backstory, flesh out some motivations etc. and figure out who was at war with whom when. I'm taking liberties with some worldbuilding type stuff, but I think that was encouraged-if it's a problemo or anything needs to change, let me know. I'm pretty much assuming that dozens and dozens of conflicts were taking place during the Hylo-Therux war and the Great Orio (oreo?) War.

As tensions increased between the Northern Frontier and the Hylo Empire, the Adamar family contemplated immigrating to the Fortune Region where many manufacturing jobs were available as the two great nations began stockpiling weapons. When the corporations discovered deposits of the miracle-fuel Elementum in Fortune, they decided to leave the Empire. They settled in a small industrial city where Renzo's father found work as a welder and mechanic. His mother, a school teacher back in the Empire made money tutoring children of the slums and translating letters.

When war finally erupted between the Northern Frontier and the Hylo Empire, Renzo was 16 and on a track to engineering school, but those plans were derailed after the Colossi Day Attack by unmarked mechs that targeted 6 industrial cities in the Fortune Region. Various terrorist cells took credit for the attacks that killed 87,000 civilians, but many pundits and online sources suspect the Hylo Empire may have had a hand in the attack-which mainly targeted 3rd party industrial sites that were selling arms, ammunition and Elementum products to Northern Frontier Corporations. Renzo's father and mother were both killed.

After a year of grieving, Renzo joined the Fortune Region Gendarmery, A militia of armed soldier-citizens that provided their own weapons and mechs to patrol and protect the border. Renzo would gain basic knowledge of combat and combat tactics in the Gendarmery, after which he found himself back in the Hylo Empire working with a defense contractor that was doing major operations within the Northern Frontier and covertly in the Therux Region.

Operation Artichoke
Artichoke was a highly classified mission bought and payed for by the Hylo Empire to enter Therux Airspace, antagonize a military response and then slip back into Hylo Territory. Because of the treaty signed between the two nations, Operation Artichoke was a highly classified mission. The mission was to last 18 weeks and detect response times at 8 different boundary locations. The Empire employed the private defense contractor CLASSIFIED for the operation with limited success.

After Artichoke and the dissolution of the CLASSIFIED company, Renzo signed on with the newly formed Fortune Freedom Army that was combating separatists in Desert Sector. After 9 months, Renzo received a Combat Valor recommendation for wounds sustained.

Hawthorne Balthazar, First Class Firework Junkie and Staff Sergeant When He Feels The Need To Throw His Weight Around

Hawthorne was only five years old when the Orio war began, and great bulks of the Frontier’s population began to march off to do battle with the Hylo Empire, personal motives varying but a larger guiding force apparent to all. Their people, the lifeblood of their homeland, had come under attack, and retribution was in order. Hawthorne’s mother, Corinna Balthazar, was one such soldier intent on clashing with the Therux and Hylo, while Hawthorne’s father, Orson Balthazar, ran Balthazar Constructions, a company that manufactured and supplied a large number of mechanized units to the government. It was reported that Balthazar mecha had the best performance rates in the army.

The son of this fierce warrior and shrewd businessman, Hawthorne inherited traits from both, as well as their bitter hatred towards the Hylo and Therux. When he turned fifteen, he joined the military himself as a mecha pilot. Having practiced in simulations in the years before, Hawthorne wasn’t going in truly green, but in real combat he was entirely untested.

Placed under his mother’s command, Hawthorne’s first real training session was to be frontline combat. Such was the state of the Frontier. He quickly distinguished himself as a skilled and level-headed, albeit impulsive pilot that seemed to have experience beyond his years.

So the years passed, and things continued as always. Soldiers killed and died, civilians bred and starved, and all Hawthorne had known was war. By this time, Hawthorne had been promoted to Sergeant, serving under his mother, the Staff Sergeant. The date was August 3rd, 2231, two days after Hawthorne’s birthday and the day that, as it seemed to Hawthorne, everything became unraveled. The Northern Frontier’s forces were preparing to fight a defensive battle against the Hylo-Therux alliance in the midst of an aggressive march that would mark the farthest north any significantly sized force would ever reach. The bloodbath that ensued left the snow below painted with blood and wreckage, with the Northern Frontier just barely standing victorious. There was nothing to celebrate, however. The losses were great and among them was Corinna Balthazar.

In recognition of his skill and valor upon the battlefield, it was Hawthorne who was chosen to become the new Staff Sergeant.

The ceremony was a hollow one.

During the last year of the Orio war, Hawthorne slowly became more and more unhinged, growing reckless and displaying numerous signs of depression. Each passing day was grueling. While he enjoyed a good fight, Hawthorne wanted nothing more than for the war to end, and the men serving under him agreed wholeheartedly whenever his opinions were voiced.

At long last, the three nations called for some sort of ceasefire, each ravaged by the war and a shadow of what they once were. Hawthorne too, was no longer his old self. Gone was the disciplined and level-headed soldier that could be counted on to do anything for his country. From that boy rose a man with his own agenda, all previous loyalties and vendettas seemingly cast aside, wild and reeking of danger.

For a person like him, the Outcast Guild seemed the perfect place to seek employment, and for the last two years he’s been working with them, pursuing his own hedonistic goals and filling his pockets.

Tactical Preference & Skills:
Hawthorne likes to come at his enemy with full force, beating them down before they’re able to lift a finger. If that doesn’t work, or doesn’t seem likely to work at all, he’ll take up a defensive position while trying to assess how best to neutralize his foe(s).

Hand Slot 1:
The right hand can retract and give way to a powerful drill with serrated edges, capable of shredding flesh and metal alike.

Hand Slot 2:
On the left side, Hawthorne has equipped the mech with a heavy duty shield, circular and the same color as it’s wielder, capable of withstanding most attacks.

Sub Weapon Slot:
Built into the underside of the right arm is what’s essentially a larger sub-machine gun, good against unarmored and lightly defended opponents, and targeting weak points on mecha, but not much else.

Shoulder/Back Spot:
Just behind the left shoulder is a retractable panel that can open up to allow a medium powered laser turret to surface. The right shoulder panel can launch fireworks.

Gadget Slot:
If a hasty escape, or a tactical advantage is needed, two small grills on the front of the mech can release large quantities of incredibly dense smoke, poisonous or non-poisonous depending on the mood he's in.

Additionally, if worst comes to worst, the Leonidas' spiked knuckles can act as an effective last resort against opponents.

The Leonidas’ primary strengths are its powerful melee attacks and sturdy armor, though it is not entirely outclassed against quicker opponents. (8)

Accuracy & Tracking/Firepower:
With the Leonidas’ heavy frame and melee based attack style, Hawthorne saw it prudent to give his mech another way to combat lighter units. (3)

Air Mobility/Thrusters:
The powerful propulsion systems integrated towards the rear of the mech give it a good balance of speed and mobility, with a slight edge towards faster movement. (6)

Solo/Skirmisher:
Hawthorne has experience both working alone and as a part of a larger organized force, though the Leonidas’ specs make it unideal for stealth or infiltration based operations. (5)

Flavour Text:
The Leonidas was a gift from Hawthorne’s father to celebrate his promotion to Sergeant. Already a custom build, the mech was customized even further by Hawthorne throughout his years piloting it.
