Current Just wanna make a quick announcement for whoever cares: [@Crab Bane] and I are no longer in a relationship. It wasn't a bad break-up, at least not for me, but I hope him and I can stay on good terms.

If you mean in terms of summoning conditions, it would depend on the kind of deck you're running.
@Killfang96 @Ryougu

Both Guardians look good to me, but I feel like I need to stress a couple of kinda important aspect of Guardian Summoning:

It's mandatory, as in, if you CAN summon it, you MUST summon it.

As a result, it'd make things easier to understand if the Guardian's summoning requirements pertained to a specific game state, such as having at least a certain number of monsters on the field and, depending on the level and/or effect, an additional summoning cost, such as tributing an amount of those monsters dependent on either their combined total levels or just a set amount to tribute.

Hope that makes sense.
@Raddum

Sounds good to me.

Well, think of it more like this: The term "Spirit" isn't used in the sense of "This is a living thing", moreso as a catch-all term for the monsters depicted on the card. So a Machine type Guardian would still be referred to as a spirit, if that makes any sense.
@Raddum

Looks good to me. However, I'm not a fan of how it ignores summoning conditions, because I'm pretty sure there's at least 1 Machine-Type monster it can summon that is pretty stupid once its summoning condition gets bypassed. Then again, since I can't think of any such monster that isn't banned, it should be fine.

Also, one quick question I gotta ask: Are its ATK and DEF supposed to be 0 or some supernumber? If it's the latter, change it please.

And 1 more little sidenote in terms of lore: Guardians are essentially duel spirits everyone is assigned when they are born. Like a guardian angel, hence the name. Just a little bit of flavor for future card making endeavors.
@Killfang96

I've said at least two times so far that the OoC/Character Sign-Ups will be open either today or tomorrow. Since it's getting rather late, expect the thread to be up tomorrow, and the IC to start shortly after everyone's made their characters.
@Killfang96

Some people already explained it, but Guardians are custom 1-of monster cards that are basically this:

-Monsters you can summon but are NOT in either the Main or Extra Deck.
-Monsters of varying strength that can and MUST be summoned when your life points are 1/4 or below their starting value and certain conditions are met. (For higher level monsters (I'm thinking 7 and above), additional costs must be paid.) For example, a Level 7 monster might require 3 or more DARK Fiend-Type monsters to be on the field at the same time, and two of those monsters must be tributed for the Guardian to be summoned.

As for Custom Cards, you can have up to 3 to start off with (not counting your Guardian), and additional Customs can be given out for plot reasons.

In terms of what you can and can't do, as long as it isn't crazy powerful like Pot of Greed(which allows you to draw 2 cards for free) or The Forceful Sentry(which allows you to look at your opponent's hand and shuffle 1 card from it into their deck), it should be fine, but I will be looking over what everyone creates just to be certain.

Banlists are in effect, with some to-be-determined personal adjustments made by me.

And yes, you are allowed to use cards outside your archetype. So generic decks and decks focused around 1 type of monster are perfectly fine.

@Darkmoon Angel

Anime/manga cards are allowed, within reason. If it's something crazy that would split the game in half, like Number ic1000: Numerronius Numerronia, I'm not letting that slide under any circumstances. If it's a card that has been released in real life, the real life effect will be used.

So yeah, stuff like Fortune Fairies, Alchemy Beasts, and Scab Scarknight can be played.

Also, @Killfang96, don't make rule assumptions before I say for certain, please.

@AdmrlStalfos19

With some Guardian-related tweaks, yes! Spirit of the Pharaoh is a pretty atrocious monster normally, so by all means, go for it.

@JamesMuddy

That's a pretty nice example, albeit without the 1/4 starting Life Points or less restriction or having the Summon be mandatory, but still a good example.

And 1 more thing that I brought up earlier in this post regarding the topic:

Guardians can and must be summoned as long as you meet the requirements to summon them, and don't necessarily need to have effects that Summon them when an action is performed that will cost you the game. Think of them as more of a Destiny Draw-esque mechanic from Duelists of the Roses and the Tag Force games, a trump card that will help improve a bad situation.
@Killfang96

You can make up to 3 Custom Cards, not including your Guardian. So in total, a maximum of 4 customs, although I will allow additional customs for plot reasons.

At least 1 Paragraph per post should be plenty.

@AdmrlStalfos19

I think I know exactly which site that is, and it's one that I personally frequent.

And don't worry, Link Rules are in play with some homebrew adjustments, but no actual Link Monsters. If you want the skinny on the rules, it's on either page 3 or 4.

Doesn't really matter which you choose to go for, I'm not enforcing either generic decks or Archetypes. So go nuts dood.
@Raddum

The OoC and Character sign-ups will start tomorrow/the day after.

@Alder

Art won't be necessary; if you want to give us an idea of what the card looks like, a simple written description will do fine.

@Killfang96

Haven't 100% decided on the rules yet, but for requirements, I'd say at least a decent knowledge of the card game is all you need, but I and likely anyone who's alright with it would be willing to help you if you need any assistance.
Bump.
@mattmanganon

Ach. Well, that's a shame. Hope you at least keep up with the RP as a spectator, though.
