Navy? Aren't they the ones who never learnt how to fly properly?

Air Force for the win. :D
@Genni maybe not even a month...

There was a Village social statistician who did a study on the subject of rumour propogation once. I think the final result was a total dissemination within 12.3 minutes from the time the initial comment was made.
Audra was not filthy.

: "Aww, you poor thing. If you'd like I could introduce her to some friends of mine who could teach her a trick or two in bed..? That'd soon make her nice and filthy for ya'."
@ReusableSword

If he's been there a month, I sure a few rumours have already been spread about the strange newcomer and his suit of heavy armour.
@DeadDrop

Sort of. We've been invited to write little flavour pieces for our characters, to give them a little in world introduction before the main event, as we're still waiting on a couple of finalised CSs before going fully live.

I've used mine to given an idea of Susie's MO when pulling off a heist. All trickery and diversions, with plenty of tech backup to keep her hidden. There's also a follow-up planned if needs be, to show how she relates to other people as well.
Vague references would be fine, as long it's like "this is a scientist who worked with ___ and was quite well known in the village" or whatever.

I'm hoping that Trixie would already have a reputation as 'that kid' around the Village, in the same way Naruto Uzumaki was at the beginning of the manga/anime. Kinda a troublemaker, but with the best intentions. Just don't let her try and fix your toaster for you, unless it want it to start singing show tunes, while doing the fully choreographed dance moves to go with it.

I was planning on referencing really small things that hinted to a subtle history between the characters like inside jokes about chickens or vague references to incidents that happened in the past that he may have been around for.

Trixie: "For the last time, that chicken was on fire when I got there!?!"

...but also more of an example that they grew up watching. I would sum it up to a more childish admiration and respect for her?

Trixie as a role model? Damn, that kid's gonna get himself in tonnes of trouble.

The night was dark and wet, just the way Susie liked it. The darkness meant prying eyes couldn't see her, while the wetness meant there were far few idle eyes wandering the streets who might take note of the ragged street urchin making her way down the alley beside one of the district's larger data repositories. Not that there was anything they'd have to notice about the short girl tucked up in her warmest clothes, which still let in enough of the night's chill to have her shivering in her pale skin.

Stepping up to the ID reader Susie quickly glanced back down the alleyway, making sure the coast was clear before sending the signal down to her hand and watching as her finger curled back on itself to reveal the not entirely legal dataspike concealed within. Searching for a second the street girl found the data port on the side of the reader, designed to be used when uploading new firmware but with enough versatility to give her a little more than that.

Finding what she was looking for Susie swore under her breath. Non-standard fitting, what the hell? It was almost as if they didn't want people breaking into their data vaults or something. With a heavy sigh Susie quickly twisted her finger, reconfiguring her probe as she eyeballed the port. After a few long seconds she stuck what she thought would be a close enough approximation of the correct plug into the data socket and ducked under her coat.

Under the heavy fabric she glanced over the data displayed on arm, prodding the readouts as she rearranged the data flows and dropped some of her favourite bugs into the network. With a pleasant, welcome beep the door unlocked and slid aside. "Pleasure doing business with ya'," the scruffy girl said, throwing a mock salute at the reader before stepping inside the building.

She didn't have long to play around, according to her sources there were three guards working the building tonight. Usually it would be four, but someone had slipped one of the regulars a nasty little pill in his evening meal. Nothing fatal, but enough to give stomach cramps which would keep them off their feet for the night. Corporate cutbacks covered the rest, with the expense of hiring a substitute guard outweighing the risk o0f a potential breach due to the reduced security. Sometimes Susie loved the Corps, not often but sometimes.

Making her way through the building, following the map displayed on her arm, Susie watched carefully as the security cameras and surveillance gear along her path winked out one by one, giving her just long enough to dash past before blinking back on behind her. Hopefully whoever was in the security office wouldn't even notice the brief flickers in their coverage, and even if they did only the most hard-line guard would chalk the blips upto anything other than faulty equipment. Even though this was one of the larger repositories it was also one of the oldest, and Susie knew from her previous visits that some of their gear was older than she was, and old tech always tended to be a little glitchy when patched into newer hardware.

Getting closer, Susie carefully studied the intel she'd been given. Hopefully what she was after should be in vault Gamma-12-A, but nothing was certain in this game. Making her way to the vault entry she pulled out a datapad which had cost her more than a month's rations and quickly plugged it into the access panel. Normally she'd have just used her own probe, but the information she was after had been hardcoded by some of the best minds in their field, and even Susie knew that her own rig was hardly top-of-the-line.

With the pad in place, its internal processors and algorithms decoding the locking mechanisms, Susie wandered down the corridor a little, glancing each way as she checked to make sure none of the wetware security measures had decided to get creative in their patrol routes for the night. Things like that always annoyed her. Why couldn't people be as reliable and predictable as computers?

A patch on her arm suddenly began to glow brightly and turning away from the corridor Susie quickly stepped back to the access panel. Unhooking the datapad she quickly stowed it away back inside her coat before pressing her gloved finger to the ID scanner. A panel snapped open on the wall and a retinal scanner emerged, firing a bright beam of light out to read the presented eyeball. The fact that there was none to read didn't seem to concern the device at all and after a couple of second the display lit up bright green.

"𝖦𝗈𝗈𝖽 𝖾𝗏𝖾𝗇𝗂𝗇𝗀, 𝖴𝖭𝖪𝖭𝖮𝖶𝖭 𝖴𝖲𝖤𝖱." The computer intoned as the data vault beside it unsealed with a hiss, the door cycling open and the computer terminal unfolding from the wall in what Susie presumed was supposed to make the place look modern and high tech. Ignoring all the fanfare, the cracker stepped up to the keyboard and quickly started to type in her data requests, pulling the information she needed from the yottabytes of drek passing through the repository's data banks every second.

"Okay, my friend," she said with a friendly smile, "Give me everything you have on 'Ori', and their associates."
...maybe Trixie & Kiki can try to develop something, but idk how successful they'd be...

Trixie: "I guarantee at least 60% chance of him not instantly blowing up as soon as he boots it up, and a 15% chance of doing what we intended it to." :D
Class System: My bad on this - I probably should've went a bit more into detail. While his appearance would change, I feel like it would be limited to armour and equipment, depending on the class, while his physical body underneath stays the same.

On the topic of wings and gills, if he can create a gun, I guess those would be possible...

The way I'm reading this is that Kai would basically have five forms he could switch between. Speed, Strength, Defence, Air and Aqua. These would appear on his body as pieces of equipment, such as powered boots for speed, gauntlets for strength, body armour for protection, glider wings for flight and a rebreather for underwater breathing.

While any one of these can be active at any time, he wouldn't be able to combine them so if he chose to have his 'running shoes' on he'd be able to move quickly but would have less protection and wouldn't be able to bring as much firepower to bear.

His weapons would also be linked with these modes, with perhaps the sword and pistol his baseline choice and things like a pair of pistols for his speed mode, a heavy doublehanded sword, axe or warhammer for his strength mode, and so on.

Could he possibly switch between them for interesting combination effect though, for instance using speed and running off a high cliff and then switching to the glider in midair to float a fair distance, before switching to the strength mode to power bomb an enemy? Or would it be more a case of him having to completely shutdown one class before using another; so he'd use speed to boost himself off a cliff, then deactivate and freefall for ten seconds before activating his glider to move into position then shutdown again and start to plummet towards the enemy and activate his strength mode just before 'landing' to maximise his impact?

Personalities: ...and someone would be able to forcibly swap Kai between them...

It'd be an interesting feature to work with if you did keep it, especially from a roleplaying standpoint. You could even make it that each of his different modes had a distinct personality associated with it, similar to the way Ben 10 transforms into new creatures with their own personality traits, but all of whom are still 'Ben' at the same time.

He'd have to be really careful about what he said around Kiki though, unless he wanted to have his personality randomly shifted for a few hours with a wave of her hand.

Also, his name was originally Kal, but I really like Kai as a name, so I think I might just have to take that up as his new name.
My bad (or good..?) I'm working off a smart phone right now and the screen's a little small. Misread Kal for Kai. :)
@AGenericUser

Looks good to me, but I do have a few questions.

  • Does the Class system change Kai's physical form at all, for instance would the durability Node cause his skin to become visibly rocky or metallic, or would the speed Node make his legs become more muscular and powerful? Would he be able to form 'wings' to act as a parachute, or gills to breath underwater? Or is it limited by the maximum potential of his natural body, so using the Nodes would push his endurance to that of an Olympic athlete instantly, or give him access to the full strength of his muscles when activated?
  • How many different forms can the Nanoweapons take? Is there a set limit, or can Kai reconfigure them on the fly depending on what he'd need in each different situation? How quickly can the weapons switch modes, could he toss a rocket launcher in the air, do a back flip and catch two pistols as they fell into his hands?
  • You said "...which fire off other nanobots, taking the form of bullets" Does this mean Kai's nanos can become depleted if he's required to engaged in an intense or protracted gunfight? Can he recover bullet nanos from neutralised targets, or regenerate them over time?
  • How volatile are Kai's personality changes? Is it a case of multiple personalities constantly battling for control, or would he have to choose to 'upload' a new personality if he wanted to change who he was? Do old personalities get comjpletely wiped when a new one is installed, or is there a 'bleed effect' between different programs which would require a total system shutdown and defragmentation sweep to clear?
