Personal Style: Whitney's style of dress can be summarized as "Urban Fashion." Urban Fashion is edgy and reflects lifestyle, attitudes and individuality. Because she's never really had much money, a lot of her clothes were given to her from friends and her her brother. She also goes to thrift shops to find clothes that she can make her own, and you could never tell that they were hand me downs. She has a few things in her wardrobe that costed a bit of money, from when her brother decided to spoil her or she had some extra money.

Personality: Whitney was taught from a young age to be a true independent woman; she can take care of herself financially, physically, emotionally, and mentally. She leans much more toward introversion than extroversion. She also tends to focus solely on her writing and music. She's blunt, straightforward, and brutally honest. Although she seems mean and tough on the outside, she's actually really kind and soft on the inside; Not that she'd let anyone see it.
Habits: Smoking is a bad habit that is not only harmful to herself, but also to the people around her. She doesn't smoke as often as she used to, thank God.
Another of her irritating and potentially harmful habits is her ability to let anger build up inside and redirect it to another source. When she lets her anger build up over an extended length of time she eventually becomes a bomb, ready to explode at any time. A Memory: Five year old Whitney Douglas sat on the kitchen floor, wooden spoon in one hand and a skillet in the other. You could hear the loud bangs and clashes throughout the house as she consistently hit the pan with the spoon, laughing. She'd much rather play with pots and pans than play with the numerous dolls her father had bought for her. Kida, her older brother, was sitting next to her, playing with his Game Boy. Their mother was standing over the stove, cooking the dinner that would be ready by the time their father got home from work.
Three hours went by quickly, and her Dad had yet to come home. His plate sat in his usual spot at the dinner table, the fried chicken and macaroni had gotten cold. Kida had gone to bed hours ago, but she insisted on staying up to wait for her Dad. Whitney could hear her mother talking on the phone in the living room as she was pacing back and forth.
"Girl, it's almost eleven o'clock! He ain't never stayed out this late before. He better not be with that bitch from-"
Her mother was cut off by a loud banging on the front door. Whitney, excited to see her Daddy, jumped up from her seat and ran past her mom to the door. She unlocked the door and pulled it open, ready to jump into her father's arms, but was taken aback. Instead of seeing her father, she saw two policemen. "Go to your room, Whit!" Her mother grabbed her by the arm and pushed her towards the stairs before she went to the door. Whitney hurriedly ran up the stairs, but paused at the top and took deep breaths as she strained to listen. "No," her mother said, "He can't be!"
A very confused Whitney took a few steps back down the stairs, wanting to hear more, but she's only caught the end of what one of the police officers had said.
"I am very sorry for your loss."
History: From a young age, Whitney has learned to be tough and look after herself. She grew up in a bad neighborhood in Brooklyn, NY with her single mother and older brother. Because their mom worked long shifts at the diner to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table, Whit was practically raised by her brother. Her father had been shot and killed when she was five, and ever since then they'd been struggling. After a while, her mom started to give up. She lost her job, started drinking, and brought different men home every night. One day, when Whitney was eleven, her mother packed her and her brother a bag and drove them to their Grandmother's house. She told them that she'd see them soon, but after she left, she was never heard from again.
From then on, Whitney lived with her Grandma and brother. Over the next few years, Whitney had to deal with many hardships including bullying, peer pressure, and violence. Her Grandma never gave up on her, though, pushing her to do her best in school and make good choices. Her grandmother passed away three weeks into her Junior year. Whitney graduated high school at the top of her class, and got accepted into many colleges. Eager to finally get as far away from Brooklyn as possible, she chose Pismo Tech. Her big brother, Kida, drove her all the way to California to make sure she got there safely, and made her promise to call him at least once a week.
