Exactly. It adds another level of political inequality that would absolutely have to exist, but which I don't want to deal with.

Besides, the variety of technomantic modifications to people's bodies accomplishes a lot of the same thing.
I was considering other races, and the Magi definitely have strict and different classes. The artificers are ranked more or less by actual merit.
Other things:

I hope by tonight to have enough lore posted that I'm comfortable accepting CS applications, and during that write up I mean to touch on some plot.

Plots will be short, but hopefully plentiful. They may also get kind of dark, hope you're okay with that.
Tech level is weird. There is no electricity or petrol, all machines run on magic. Such machines are fairly common in the Inner Circle, but become less common the further you go outward.

The Outer Ring people live lives like early Victorian England.

And I wanna say to @Yorutenchi that though this almost definitely counts as steam punk, it does not have the same clockwork and goggles aesthetic.
Added a little more.
I'm in class all day, I have my computer but no internet. So rest assured that I'm writing even if I'm not posting it yet. You'll see it when I get home.

In the mean time, if you have any questions or things you're curious about or would like addressed go ahead and say so so I can cover them in my write up.

Got any ideas or suggestions? Can't guarantee I'll take them, but go ahead and give them anyway.

Mine too, I dig Grixis, but Esper is my favorite.

I wasn't playing back then, though. I only started back in Avacyn.

Anyone interested, here's some pictures of Esper junk, to get an idea of the aesthetic that I am drawing from. Do remember that this is just a stepping stone, not a carbon copy source.

Anyway, sauntering away from Magic, stand by for further write up.

EDIT: Which will be coming bit by bit, hopefully, I'll have a nice chunk by the end of tonight.
We are still very much open to new players. At the time of writing this note, there is only one confirmed and approved character sheet. Plenty of room yet. There is a lot to read, try not to skim.

A world divided by castes. There are the Magi, who enchant the machines that run the world, the Artificers who create them, and the Ignorant Trades who make up every other aspect of life.

It is common and even fashionable to replace parts of one's own body with technomantic enhancements. Only the poorest of the poor are known to be wholly their original biology.

The richest of the rich, meanwhile, extend their life into eternity by replacing parts as they break down, eventually becoming entirely technomantic.

Just want to announce that I'm interested, but need to read up.

EDIT: never mind. It's very well thought out, but the minimalist/rural setting turns me off.
