I need to formally drop out of this because I desperately need the time to be with my lovely, yet possibly psychotic, girlfriend. I am unsure when I will return, but feel free to PM mr if you wish to keep in touch further.

Games not going anywhere, post on your own time. I won't drop you from the roster for another week or two so you have time.
I always found it curious that so few people posted on the weekends considering during my largest active days of roleplay were on such days in the past.
Sometimes a small group is better than a larger more diverse group. It's easier to brainstorm and those people could always take on multiple characters as well.
"Advanced roleplaying should focus on developing interesting and complex characters that become part of plot-lines which catch the imagination and inspire the writer behind them to exercise creativity. It is mature, humorous, imaginative, tragic, terrifying, passionate, and rife with descriptive language and characters with real personality and relatable cares. Quality posting is far better than needless novels, yet one should never neglect detail when one feels the need. However, while word and paragraph requirements ought to be unnecessary, single paragraphs cannot contain enough detail to suffice."

This is one of the definitions I stand by when I plan or join an advanced roleplay, I don't think every roleplay in advanced should adhere to what Gaiaonline called "literate" roleplays (which was a condescending way to segregate roleplays, imo) where we are looking at 4,000 words per post with streaming paragraphs. It surely depends on the feel of the roleplay, I think. I mean look at the Ultimate Comics games (all-star marvel, ultimate dc, one universe, independent comics universe); as roleplays they aren't highly detailed with every post by every user but rather goes by the definition that they are advanced because of the scale, scope, and size of the roleplay as they are alternate universe sandboxes that create concurrent stories. Sort of realized cooperative fanfiction in a way.

I admit, I simply don't have the courage to try on Advanced.

When I joined RPG a year ago, I felt the same, but a game that I wanted to write in (the then Master Bruce-led Ultimate DC) inspired me to try when I saw other people of the casual "distinction" joining as well and not being pushed aside and being told they were not good enough. Perhaps the comradeship helped, but I'm not sure. But I will say that a lot of us as writers need to stop being afraid of advanced simply because some roleplays in the category read like a book. Though I feel I'm echoing Ellri with this statement.
Rework an app, and lets see where it goes yeah?
By the by, like I said I'd put it in advanced due to the scope/scale/extensiveness of the RP not demanding the players to write 2,000 words per post. I go by this definition:

"Advanced roleplaying should focus on developing interesting and complex characters that become part of plot-lines which catch the imagination and inspire the writer behind them to exercise creativity. It is mature, humorous, imaginative, tragic, terrifying, passionate, and rife with descriptive language and characters with real personality and relatable cares. Quality posting is far better than needless novels, yet one should never neglect detail when one feels the need. However, while word and paragraph requirements ought to be unnecessary, single paragraphs cannot contain enough detail to suffice."
Map update is looking good, I'll put some time in with the document files tonight. Hopefully a formed OOC in a few days, probably due to the lore, scale of the rp, and such I'll consider putting this in the advanced section.

That actually seems like it could be really fun to play with as far as invoking various gods and such goes and coming up with some for reliable standby purposes and really fleshing it out will be enjoyable. Also judging by the description I can have a much more laid-back pirate now

Also a parallel to Dionysus would benefit much pirate lifestyle as a god of festivities, wine, and such. Glad you like it.

Considering being a king of one of the Norse kingdoms, probably Skavia, and working to conquer the other nearby kingdoms/create a new country. Do you ave any information in regards to those northern kingdoms?

I have a little bit developed for the Faeriric people of Orlandis (Perhyr, Skavia, Erayis) including history, some culture, some religion. But a lot of their reformed religion has been barely hanging on as Orlandis as a whole is becoming more and more followers of Aavaar but theres a lot of history due to that.
I decided to opt for a more diverse religion based on greco-egyptian hellenism, thought it'd be more unique. I mean I'm still doing research on a bunch of real world cultures for influence but I do love to mish-mash. I mean in one other world concept I merged welsh culture and spanish language to make something really strange.

Keeping an eye on this because I love medieval, but I haven't forum RPed in a wihle and I've got a lot of stuff going on so I dunno if I'll be able to join. How fantasy is the setting? Realistic medieval with a few mundane monsters in the wilderness? Or are things full wizard and dragon tier?

Realistic Medieval (with light/subtle fantasy elements) and we still have certain fantastical creatures (dragons, serpents, gryphons, etc) in historical capacity though they currently havent been seen or heard of in a few hundred years and that was supposedly only in Adadon.

So I'm starting to seriously consider using a Tsarevna (after all, this is fantasy and fantasy needs princesses). What's the situation like in the Vkaski lands, just so I have an idea of what I can work with? ^^;

Vecca, Himnar, and Volskar are the three big kingdoms of Vkaski culture with a merchant core in Govski. Outside of politics with one another being mild at best, there are a lot of nomadic pagan types all over their continent that are rather aggressive and such (think of norse vikings, pagan slavs, or even the wildlings from Game of Thrones). These three kingdoms are known for their skilled soldiers and mercenaries. They don't often deal with other continents in terms of trade, politics, etc. outside of selling out the occasional band of swordsman and such.

As for the situation, I think I might throw some "cold war" scenarios or perhaps a unified nomad band of pagans who are being very aggressive. Plenty of room for politics, but for now that's the brunt of it.

I do have one Vkasi character and he's pretty well-known hiresword/soldier in his homeland. His name is Zrefre.

After giving it some thought, I think a soldier might not be a good character to RP, since it means I might not be interacting with other RP-ers and that sorta defeats the purpose of participating in an RP. I was thinking maybe I could play a Royal Guard sort of character, serving under a royal character played by someone else?

Sandboxes are a little different than linear (narrative or character-driven) roleplays, but if you want somebody to work with I'm sure there are some ideas to work from.

Excellent. By the way I was wondering if as flavor and motivation it would be an acceptable idea for my pirate/merchant to be a son of the Sultan of Matar. Perhaps an illegitimate or younger son, to explain why he's not stuck in the Sultanate?

Edit: Actually, he could easily be an orphan adopted by the Sultanate. Islam (and presumably a religion based in part off of it) encourages 'adoption' in the sense of raising a child in your household, although you aren't supposed to allow them to take your family name IIRC...

Bit different than Islam, but I don't exactly have religious-political laws and such written out for them yet. So, lots of wiggle room. =)

Xah’lim
The people of the northern Ala'duin Desert are strong believers in a spiritual pantheon where the gods are as diverse as they are special—ranging from gods of every aspect of life including knowledge, war, hunting, weather, and trade; as such there are dozens of temples scattered north and west of the Ala’duin Desert. There is no “heaven” or “hell” in practitioners of this religion and prefer to live in the present rather than the future. This is also the central religion of the Forlandic peoples before many of them settled in southern Orlandis.
