Biography

Cleomine, unfortunately, was born in slavery. Her family was part of a coastal town in Siltvelt which was attacked and raided by the soldiers of Melromarc. The people, including her parents, were taken and sold into slavery. When Cleo was born, she was taken away from her mother and sold to the highest bidder, which happened to be a noble.

This noble kept Cleomine in a fish tank for the longest time and often had her sing to entertain him during the day. Whenever she tried to remain silent, the noble often threatened to do harm to her. The noble had believed that Cleo wouldn't be able to walk or live on land at all, so he often threatened to cut off her tail and just let her die out of the water. It's also because of this belief that he never bothered to put a slave crest on Cleo. One night, Cleo inadvertently learned that wasn't the case.

One night, she had accidentally fallen out of the tank, and found that her tail had changed into human legs. She was able to move as she pleased and the noble would be none the wiser! She wanted to run and flee! But she knew that it would be folly to just leave right away. She may be sheltered, but she had heard of monsters and other dangers outside of the noble's home and the fish tank. So, she bided her time. She often remained in the tank during the day, and explored the noble's manor during the night when he was asleep. She honed her stealth during this time as she had to avoid the guards spotting her. During these explorations, she got a lay of the land, gathered some gold that the noble won't miss, and learned of the other slaves that were held here and what was done to them.

One night, she was caught stealing a rapier from the noble. He woke up and in her fright, she stabbed the noble before running away. She wasn't sure if she dealt a deadly blow to him, but she wasn't about to stay and find out when she could be captured. She ran to the nearby river as fast as she could, and dove. From there, she swam as far form the manor as possible. It turned out she was a faster swimmer than she was a runner. She reached the capitol city of Melromarc by morning, and was able to take shelter in a kind seamstress's home.

If the noble was looking for her, it wasn't apparent during her time in the Capitol City. Thanks to the Seamstress, she learned how to make various disguises so that Cleo would appear human to the citizens. She spent 8 quiet years in the Capitol City with the Seamstress. During her time there, the seamstress introduced her to the violin, and of course, Cleo took to it like a fish to water. With her singing and violin playing skills, she was able to earn some extra gold by performing in the tavern. During her time in the tavern, she heard rumors that the four cardinal heroes were summoned to fight off the Waves.

Cleo resolved to fight alongside the Shield Hero if given the chance after hearing that.

Sylvia listened as Bonesaw answered her, feeling guilty when his tone turned sad. It wasn't long before Shortfang started talking to Bonesaw in Draconic once more. Like before, she's baffled by the combination of Latin and German coming from the two kobolds. Thankfully, Pylia translated for her despite how fast Shortfang was speaking. She was slightly surprised to hear that Bonesaw had gone back to speaking Common in order to calm down Shortfang with Pylia.

Sylvia noted Pylia's motion, and nodded slightly. She stepped up and kneeled next to Shortfang, offering her words to encourage him, "Shortfang, everyone is okay. There's no way a small group of traitorous kobolds would be able to take down the Sewer Dragons. I'm sure if they need our help, they'll let us know,"

I did promise them protection after all... Sylvia thought to herself.

She let Celeste hide herself in the corner, and kept an eye on the door while Orchid and Aron continued donning their armor. She had her amulet raised in case she needed to fire off spells. She had Pythagoras fly up to the ceiling once more so that he may help in battle if need be. She too moved to find cover and ensure that she could fire off spells safely. She answered Aron, "I'm ready when you two are. Just let me know and I'll fire away,"

Najila looked to Celeste as she spoke up to Orchid. She smiled at Celeste when she seemed to have reassured herself and asked what the plan is. Najila answered, "Well, Ironbane's already charged ahead and is probably cutting down foes as we speak. I can send Pythagoras ahead and make sure he's still standing. Azzen can help him by healing, but we'll have to keep our eyes peeled for anything else that can heal. I'll be saving one of my more powerful spells for when we run into the employer, but I can use a more powerful spell to make one of you fighters stronger than normal,"

She then stopped and turned to hear footsteps. She prepared herself in case someone was coming towards them. She wouldn't send Pythagoras until she heard agreement from the others.
