If you are a fan of Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar, let me know. Maybe we can put together an RP. I play Ironjawz & Kruleboyz in AOS and Salamanders & Drukhari in 40K.

Bio

I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.

I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.

When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.

There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.

I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.

Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]

Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.

Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.

Unit: No. 1 Kompanie / Abteilung II / Grenadier Regiment 522 / 297 Grenadier Division / IV Korps
The 2nd Battalion, 522nd Grenadier Regiment, 297th Grenadier Division is part of the German IV Corps under General der Artillerie Max Pfeffer who was also serving as IV Corps Commander under General Friedrich von Paulus at Stalingrad. The 522nd Regiment has been reduced in strength to an undersized battalion. the 2nd Battalion under Major von Küchen is now an undstrength company. A Grenadier company on paper is authorized 167 combat troops, not counting company trains. As of this moment, the 2nd battalion numbers 111 combat troops organized into three Grenadier platoons. The 1st platoon is lead by Leutnant Bergen, the 2nd platoon is lead by Unterfeldwebel Schubert and the third platoon is lead by Leutnant Hochstein. The Grenadier platoon is authorized 49 soldiers, but is currently fielding 35 Grenadiers.

On Paper, this is what the Kompanie is authorized.

In reality, Team von Küchen consists of 3 Grenadier platoons with AT gunners integrated into the mortar squads and a reduced company headquarters as follows. The missing soldiers are presumed to be either KIA or Prisoners of War.
Would you be OK, If I put a Panzer Grenadier abteilung (Wehrmacht Battalion) together made up the survivors of three Kompanies, forming an understrength Kompanie led by either a Major or Rittmeister. I promise to kill about 70% of them before the RP ends. I can't guarantee my Commanding officer will survive, but if he dies, I'll erect a 2IC or senior NCO to take his place as my primary.

Obviously the intent is to kill as many NPCs as possible. :)
I'll either take the same American Mech heavy Team (Company) or the French Tank Platoon. the only thing with the French Armor is it would be 5-7 days before they reached the front.
The platoon looked like this on paper, but showed up for work at about 60% strength and we're probably down to about 33% strength after first contact with the enemy.
I'm here. Monday - Wednesday is always a difficult time for me to read the forum at all let alone make a post. I hope to be able to catch up this evening.
In the time frame we are dealing with, Man portable radios were not an abundant commodity. In fact, the lowest level, you would find one is at Company or possibly Battalion. They did however rely extensively on field phones and wire in the defense. In order to communicate up and down the chains of command below Battalion, Leaders relied on Runners. There may have been 3-5 privates assigned at the Platoon and Company level, who's job it was, to carry messages from Platoon Leader to Company Commander and/or Company Commander to Battalion. Since most intelligence at the tactical level is urgent, more than likely the runner was a fast runner, for there was always the risk of being captured or killed by the enemy.

But I was getting into the moment when I wrote that last post and slipped the RTO in there. Most likely the Platoon Command Post (CP) consists of the Platoon Leader (PL), Platoon Sergeant (PSG) and three Runners.

Mind giving me a little insight to all these abriviations? I think it would help me out with positioning and stuff.

Not sure what you are looking at, but I'll take a stab.
RTO = Radio Telephone Operator. They probably didn't have one, but when I got into the groove, I ran with what I know. He is the guy who carries the man portable radio for the Platoon Leader.
PL = Platoon Leader
PSG = Platoon Sergeant
MG = Machine Gun
You'll have to look at HeySeuss' post on the MG24 and the MG04. Basically, the MG24 is the American Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) and the MG04 is the American .30 caliber MG used during WWII.
AT = Anti-Tank.

Frankly, I thought I defined all those acronyms. Did I miss any?
I put a possible Platoon Organization together. This should give you an idea of what the platoon looks like on paper. It is authorized a Platoon Headquarters section with the PL, PSG, RTO and three runners. There are also three 12-man rifle squads and three 5-man Machine gun teams. Note that Machine guns used at the Platoon Level are different than the ones used at squad level; the MG24 v. MG04.

So the platoon is authorized 57 soldiers, but may have mustered only 33; the PL, PSG, RTO in the PLT HQs and 7 men per squad plus three 3-man MG teams. By the time we all consolidate and reorganize in the woods beyond the farm, the platoon would number 19 soldiers; PSG, three 6-man squads and no one from the MG teams.

I honestly don't care what term you use. There are plenty of guys in a rifle squad who qualify expert. Especially guys with hunting skills. Run with it. I just posted. Leutnant Hans Pfeffer is dead, got axed by a mortar round. Platoon Sergent, Sergent Guy DeMille got hit in the shoulder, but he should be OK. The Platoon is running away, heading toward another small clump of trees beyond the farm. Gefreiter Lachance, the Platoon's Radio Telephone Operator is going to be either a KIA or a POW. He is gripped with fear. The survivors of 1st and 3rd squads are with 2nd in the woods. Not sure about Machine gun teams. I assumed there may be as many as three MG Teams, but some of them could have been taken out. Crew Served weapons would be a priority for the advancing Holtish Infantry.
Leutnant Hans Pfeffer ordered the family into the basement of their home when the shooting started. Mortar rounds landed outside the home. One round impacted with the barn, punching a hole in the roof. A second round, white phosphorus hit the barn and set it ablaze. The platoon sergent, Sergent Guy Demille headed out to walk the line. He avoided the barn, checking first squad and then making his way toward second squad. He caught a machine gun round in his shoulder which flipped him a few times in the air and dropping him on his face ten meters behind the position where Gefreiter Hans Dietrich Amsel lost his head. Sergent Demille groaned, regained his composure and crawled toward a ditch. The bullet struck him in the shoulder. He would survive, but was taken out of action for the next five minutes.

Herr Leutnant Pfeffer attempted to reach the Company Commander. A mortar round had severed the wire to the field expedient antenna. He tried to raise Kompanie on the field phone and found that either the line had never been completed or a mortar round severed that one as well. "Where the hell is Demille?" der Leutnant whispered to himself. He picked up his helmet, placed it on his head and headed outside. From the doorway he looked at the Radio Telephone Operator, "(Gefreiter) Lachance, monitor the phone and the radio. Let me know..." Before the Leutnant had a chance to finish his sentence, an eighty-one millimeter round landed in the courtyard ten meters from the front door. The resulting blast and shrapnel ripped through Hans Pfeffer's body turning it into Swiss cheese. The Gefreiter sat at the phone paralyzed staring at the bloody corpse.

Korporal Krebs looked down his line. Everyone was engaging the enemy when they could. He spotted Sergent Demille heading their way. 'That damn fool,' Manfred figured he was going to get killed. 'There are too many small pieces of hot lead flying around this place. Get your ass down,' he wanted to yell. In that split second, he witnessed Gefreiter Amsel's head turn into a reddish pink mist and another round from undoubtedly the same machine gun strike the platoon sergeant in the shoulder and sent him flying about thirty feet behind the line.

The Korporal crawled out of the hole and yelled at Halliger and Aldo, "KEEP SHOOTING! I'M GOING TO CHECK ON SERGEANT DEMILLE!" Manny sprinted about ten meters and then slid into the dirt. He rolled to his right, jumped up and sprinted a short distance again. He repeated this process of sprinting, diving, crawling briefly and sprinting again, until he reached the ditch the Platoon sergeant was in.

"GUY! Are you all right!?" He yelled at the platoon sergeant.

Surprised, the older NCO looked up, "What in the name of flaming fuckholes are you doing here?"

"I heard you had the best schnapps in town," Bullets pinged near them, kicking up dirt. Korporal Krebs noticed the Sergent's shoulder. He tore at the man's blouse exposing the wound. He then pulled out his first aid kit and applied a gauze to the wound. He took a roll of dressing and wrapped it around his shoulder. "Hold still, you grumpy old fart! It's just a flesh wound. I think you're going to live."

"Damn it!" the 34-year old NCO exclaimed. "Here I was just starting to enjoy your company."

"Wo ist Herr Leutnant?" Manny asked his friend. [Where is the Lieutenant?]

"At the CP. He's trying to raise Kompanie. The antenna was hit and most likely the wire also." The Sergent regained his senses and yelled above the din of the occasional explosions and gun fire around them, "why don't you get back to your squad. I'll find Herr Leutnant and tell him what its like up here. He may want us to withdraw."

"Jawohl, Herr Sergent!" Manny yelled before double timing and diving back to squad. He could see the half tracks slowly closing in on their position. Holtish infantry dismounted four hundred meters from them. Machine gun fire and mortar fire were coming from the woodline. They had no radio contact to call in artillery and the Holtish force both outmanned and outgunned them. Korporal Krebs raised his submachine gun, aimed and squeezed the trigger. A three-round burst scattered into nothingness, causing no damage. 'Well that's fucking useless, Manny,' he thought to himself.

"Manny!" He heard a yell and turned to look. It was the platoon sergeant. "Manny, Leutnant Pfeffer is dead! Get out of there! Pull back! I'll get third squad! First is already displacing."

As the Platoon sergent ran off to warn third squad, Manny Krebs yelled at the soldiers of second squad. "LET'S GO! WE'RE OUT OF HERE! FALL BACK! FALL BACK!" The squad began to run back past the burning barn avoiding that area where mortar rounds were landing. They followed the other soldiers of their platoon past the farm house and barn which were both on fire. Everyone of them could see the Leutnant's bloody corpse on the ground. No one considered checking on Gefreiter Lachance who remained motionless inside the house, gripped by fear and unable to control his legs. He may have wanted to leave, but the fear of dying held him with the inability to do anything but sit there and stare at the Leutnant's bloody corpse.

Another grouping of trees or small forest about seven hundred meters beyond the farm offered some protection. The survivors made it into the woodline, before the enemy were able to swarm over the house. Whether they killed Gefreiter Lachance or took him prisoners, his platoon mates would never know. They forgot about him. Sergent Demille would berate himself for allowing Lachance to be taken like that for the rest of his life. The Holtish halftracks were able to use the farm's lane to access the primary road. Nothing would stop them now.
