I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.
I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.
There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.
I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.
Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]
Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.

Name: Jhang Meili (Nickname: Mei Pronounced 'May')
Appearance:
Meili stands 65” tall and weighs 110 Lbs. She has brown almond shaped eyes and a fair, youth-filled complexion. She has several scars of varying length across her body; trophies from the many fights she has been involved with. Meili’s hair is completely black. She keeps it long, either braided to the rear or in a high ponytail, often tucked inside the back of her armor. Her hair is rarely permitted to splay across her back in an unkempt manner. She is muscular in a lean way, more thin than robust from years of a cardio vascular dominated training regimen.
Meili wears a black form fitting leather body suit with golden markings of dashed lines or highlighting accessories. Her high soft leather boots are also form fitting, giving her additional flexibility during movements. They fit her feet smoothly allowing her to walk quietly when necessary. Atop her head is a hooded cloak and optional helmet she wears when necessary. Generally, when in an inhospitable climate. The hood conceals her face quite easily. When not engaged in the act of her profession, the hood reveals her girlish looks.
Bio:
Meili was born in the Guangdong Province of Southeast China, near Hong Kong. Her parents were not wealthy, working menial labor for a local railroad or city government in Hong Kong. Jhang Li and Jhang Mei were happy with their lot in life and bore five sons to help protect their baby sister, Meili. Their second youngest child Jhang Meili was not happy to remain in Hong Kong or China, leaving the family home when she was sixteen years of age to make her own way in the world.
As children, Meili and her brothers practiced unarmed combat, developing their own skills. They fought just like any group of siblings in the world. It was their thing to do. The brothers did not spare their sister. They wanted her prepared to take whatever abuse the world could dish out. There was no way she would be released upon the universe as a delicate untainted flower.
Meili wanted to fight as a warrior, learning what skills she could. She attempted to join the Army, but was denied due to her age. She found a skilled master of Gong fu willing to train her in Wǔshù (unarmed combat) and Quan Fa. Quan Fa is a form of fist fighting similar to Muay Thai. She spent four years training with Master Peng until she attained a black belt in his disciplines. This achievement entitled her to be a master of the basics. There was still a lot more to learn.
At age 22, she was permitted to join the Army. She learned discipline and how to use various weapons including sniper training on the Ruan Rifle, one of the premier sniper rifles designed in the far east. She spent the next four years training as an infantry soldier attaining the rank of 班長, “Officer of the squad” or Sergeant. During her time in the military, she continued to train in Wǔshù and Quan Fa, achieving a second degree in the martial skill during her third year of service.
After four years in the Army, she was ready to try something different. She hired on as a bridge crewman on on a merchant ship and headed for the stars. She trained on a couple of duties including helmsman and navigations. She also continued to keep her martial arts skills honed to a crispness, never allowing herself to become soft. While aboard ship, she trained in the use of a few melee weapons including the Dao, a single edged sword; the Ge, a form of pole axe; bo staff, daggers and throwing knives.
By age 30, she had developed a reputation as a tough fighter, sparring with several ship mates. She has also become skilled at maneuvering large space vessels and plotting their location amongst the stars.
Before her 31st birthday, Meili returned to Hong Kong in order to test for her third-degree black belt in Wǔshù and Quan Fa, which she achieved in three months.
At this time of her life, things changed drastically. She completely fell out with her family. They felt she no longer respected them or the old ways of her culture. She felt they didn't understand her. It was as much a shock to her as anyone who knew the family. They wanted to have nothing to do with her, turning their back on their own daughter. This has left her bitter, but now Meili has taken in with pirates and signed on as a bridge crewman aboard the Endgame.
@Ryougu don't take on too many roles. Allow others to fill those needed positions. I intentionally did not take mimic for this reason. There are other classes best suited for that role.
@GuntherOh, bear in mind, of course, the penetrative capability of the .338 is outdone by the .50 BMG and the Cheytac .480 . .338 Lapua, I believe is more anti-personnel than anti-material, right?
I'm not looking for an Anti-Material Rifle caliber weapon such as the .50 BMG or even the .480. All I need is an anti-personnel weapon. The current adaptations of the .338 Lapua are as follows:
Bolt action rifles are much more accurate than gas operated versions. This discussion is more pedantic/edifying than productive. She will not carry this rifle on any raids where she needs to infiltrate stealthily into a ship such as our current operation. If a future op calls for support fire she would have it available. But sword, dagger or an SMG as back up would be sufficient for the current op. Unless, yes of course she is to fill a ranged role in support.
@Gunther@PrivateVentures Very much the same. So on that note, how about trying something sneakier than bursting in, perhaps we could develop a plan to enter through the garbage vent and drill the wall into the armory?
Optical Security sensors watch all airlocks at all times, monitored by a team of two Marines in the Armory.
How many people do we have? I would prefer two infiltration teams. The first team should be loud and contain a shit load of firepower to take out that Mech as PV suggested. The second should be covert and enter through some access that might possibly not have an optical security sensor. Or, if by chance your garbage vent does have an optical sensor, the overt/loud boarding team should enter 30 - 60 seconds before the covert team, thereby distracting the defenders from our subterfuge.
Before we say who is on what team, we need to know what we have.
@Gunther you're all set. Make that a DSG-4, scale it up to 8mm Magnum, and you're good to go. .308s are alright in today's world, but you need a little more force in this one to be effective. I figure 8mm Mag would be more than enough to crack a shield open.
Would you be OK with a model of weapon that chambers the .338 Lapua Magnum? Equivalent to 8.6mm Magnum Cartridge? DSG-4A2 or something?
Personally, I prefer the .338 Lapua round over the 7.62mm (.308) or .50 cal round. The .50 is too damn expensive and overkill. The 7.62mm is effective out to 800m - 1000 meters, but .338 can reach out to 1500 meters which is not too shabby. You rarely get 1 mile shots anyway.
