I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.
I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.
When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.
There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.
I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.
Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]
Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.

When I was in High School, I was a member of the "Stage Crew". If there was a school run show on the stage, those of us on stage crew worked the lights and the curtains as well as moving sets around. If an outside party came in to put on a presentation, we were paid minimum wage to work the lights and curtains. It was a fun gig and I got paid real cash to do it.
The shuttle rocked and buffeted as it entered the atmosphere. The closer the vessel approached the surface, the more the rocking intensified. Blaster shots bounced off the protective shielding making the ride much more nauseating. Kato closed his eyes and thought about the ship in his mind. He focused on it traveling down to the trash heap below, settling relatively unmolested. The thought of dying before they even got into the fight concerned him. He wished the vehicle to the surface, and it was so.
Seated near the rear ramp, Kato stood in a crouched position with his Light Repeating Blaster pointed in the direction of the enemy upon touchdown. Another LRB gunner from the other squad occupied the seat opposite him. They waited for the ramp. As the ramp fell, Kato shuffled forward and dropped to the ground to his left. He began putting fire in the direction of the enemy as soon as he could. He stopped shooting while others scrambled off the ramp. He took time to extend the bipod legs on his weapon. During lulls in the movement of friendlies running across his line of fire, he worked between searching for enemy combatants and placing five to nine round bursts of aimed laser fire at them.
KL-3724 listened to radio traffic as he worked. He heard the recent arrival, an Aquellan warrior named Trooper Malik Skaya or KY-9914, yell out an enemy count. Kato counted for himself and came up with a correction. “I count twelve!” Kato yelled across the squad frequency. The number could be higher, but it was still dangerous. As the squads spread out across the area, their perspective of what was going on would vary.
The squad moved forward. As squad members took up fighting positions further forward, Trooper Okoye stood to advance, leaning into the fire, hoping with each burst that he would survive this ordeal. He never had time to think about how. When the sergeant briefed them on the operation, he did not expected the Junkers to put up this level of resistance outside the complex. He naively assumed the fight was going to remain indoors.
As he neared the majority of the squads deployed forward, he took a position on the left, quickly resuming his firing tempo of five to nine round bursts. After a few bursts, he recognized the sound of Trooper Trawin’s LRB further down the line. The distinctive sound of the T-21 resonated over the din of battle. He could discern its noise, hearing Trawin’s similar tempo of fire. He waited for Trawin to finish his burst, then called out his own five to nine round-burst. It was as though the two pigs were talking to each other over the calamitous noise of the firefight--two Imperial squads assaulting into the Junkers’ defensive position. KL-3724 could not see them, but two Imperial troopers perished on the ramp and a third corpse lay in an awkward disfigured tangle amongst the trash piles scattering the landscape.
At least they were on the ground and moving forward. That was good news.
This video depicts the World War II US Rifle squad tactic on the attack. This video depicts the standard fire and maneuver tactic used by rifle squads in WWII. What was used in the 1940s is only slightly different than what is used today. The big difference today, is the squad has two administrative teams, Alpha and Bravo who have their own grenade launcher and Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW). Therefore, both teams can serve as either the assault element or the support element. USMC squads today have three teams; Alpha, Bravo and Charlie. The Star Wars squad we are replicating is organized more like the rifle squad used by most armies during World War II. It is applicable to this Role Play. Take a look at it and you will be knowledgeable in the tactic, “Rifle Squad on the Attack.” Watch this video if you are truly interested in how a squad conducts an attack:
Steps taken by squad leadership 1. Make contact with the smallest unit possible as far forward as possible. This allows leadership the ability to understand what is in front of them. This will help to know if he should shift left or right in order to engage the enemy on his terms. The squad leader may feel that his squad cannot overwhelm the enemy to his front and request assistance from platoon. 2. Place high casualty weapons on the flanks. This would include any machine guns or grenade projectors. 3. Maintain excellent communications. Those in contact should talk to their next higher leader in the chain of command to inform them of what is going on. The chain of command would be Squad Leader – Platoon Leader – Company Commander – Battalion Commander – Brigade/Regimental Commander – Division Commander – Corps Commander.
The squad leader in contact would tell his platoon leader the location of enemy or known distance and direction to the enemy from his own position if location is not known. He should tell his platoon leader how many enemy soldiers are in front of him. If this means stating the number of weapons firing at his unit, that would count as number of enemy soldiers. It may also include the number and size of crew served weapons like machine guns.
4. If the squad leader decides he can handle the enemy to his front without the assistance from platoon, he would tell his PL of this decision. He then has everyone place overwhelming, accurate and superior fire upon the enemy. This should cause the enemy to reduce its firepower by either eliminating enemy soldiers or causing them to seek cover. 5. Once the enemy fire has diminished, the squad will have previously organized into two teams. One team is referred to as the support element and the other team is referred to as the maneuver element or assault element. The squad leader leads the assault element and the assistant squad leader leads the support element. 6. The purpose of the support element is to suppress the enemy by creating a base of fire placing intense and accurate fire upon the enemy. 7. The purpose of the assault element is to move along a covered and concealed route toward the enemy. This can be achieved by having each individual in the team run for no more than three seconds when moving while observed by the enemy. If four men are in the assault element, the team should have two men moving forward while the other two are placing well aimed fire upon the enemy. 8. If the distance to the enemy is so great that the assault element has moved beyond the range of its support element. The assault element should stop moving and fire in the direction of the enemy. 9. Now that the assault element is firing on the enemy, the support element should advance rapidly and take up a position to the left or right of the assault element. 10. Once the support element has resumed firing, the assault element should resume their advance. 11. The two teams may need to alternate providing support and assaulting if the distance to the enemy is that great. But for fewer than a hundred yards, there would be no need to alternate.

I enjoy the hobby even though I rarely get time to participate. Currently, I try to limit my stories to one at a time. Unfortunately, I rarely find one I enjoy and others are willing to write in.
