If you are a fan of Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar, let me know. Maybe we can put together an RP. I play Ironjawz & Kruleboyz in AOS and Salamanders & Drukhari in 40K.

Bio

I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.

I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.

When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.

There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.

I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.

Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]

Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.

Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.

In October, 1967 the 1st PAVN Division with the 32nd and 66th PAVN regiments were operating in the Central Highlands and had drawn the 173rd Brigade and the 1st Brigade, 4th ID into a fierce fight in the Mountains by the end of the month. In November, the 10th PAVN division consisting of the 174th and 175th PAVN Regiments reinforced the 1st Division. The fight over Dak To lasted most of the month. It was some of the fiercest fighting between North Vietnamese and US forces.

Coincidentally, I watched a documentary this afternoon on the battle of Dak To on the Military History channel.

The word Spetsnaz is simply defined as "Special Forces". The troops who fall under this all encompassing term could be counter terrorist specialists, Long Range Recon troops, Raiders or SF troops who assist indigenous forces. There are several different formations who serve different purposes. But yes, a Russian Spetsnaz trooper or 8 would fit in nicely here in the role of "assisting indigenous forces." That is the same role as US Army Special Forces.
Once we know what units are represented, I can help put something together with you. So far, we have all the components to rewrite the Dak To campaign. It was two brigades of the 4th ID and two airborne battalions from the 173rd.
They would not have a direct leadership role. In fact, everyone would operate independently serving a common goal.
Are we doing Dak To? :)

I was wondering the same thing. That is summer of 1967.

1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division
Commanded by a Colonel
1st Battalion, 8th Infantry
2nd Battalion, 8th Infantry (Mechanized)
3rd Battalion, 8th Infantry
1st Battalion, 12th Infantry
4th BN, 42nd Field Artillery Regiment (105mm) Towed

I served in the 4th ID Mech in 1983-84.
So, are we going to have allied ground units? If that is the case then the Aussies would be out because they stuck to Vung Tao. I think it was the same for the ROKs...they stayed in one general area too. So you would have ARVN, and U.S. only as major combat formations. Which is fine with me, BTW

I just posted my main character as the Battalion Commander for the 1st Battalion, 503rd PIR, 173rd ABN BDE. It is my intention to RP the entire Battalion when I can. I will at least discuss what the battalion is doing. @CaptainBritton is taking A Company, 1-503 PIR, 173 ABN BDE. You are welcome to take a soldier within the Battalion or choose another unit in the 173rd. I also believe the 4th Infantry Division is in this Area of Operations in 1967 if you would like to pull in another unit. Or you could create some other foreign national unit like Republic of Korea (ROK) or Australia?
LTC Kevin F. Murphy is posted in the characters tab. I hope he is acceptable. I dug into my history to come up with a competent service history to include an image of his ribbon rack on his dress green uniform. I also included the BN CSM and staff of 1-503 as I intend to not focus on one character, the BC, but several members of this airborne battalion from youngest private to the Old Man.

Affiliation: Lieutenant Colonel, Infantry, US Army, 1-503 PIR, 173rd Infantry Brigade (Airborne)
Appearance: Kevin Murphy is a broad-shouldered man with a barrel chest and bulky arms. He has leathery flesh, worn from years of hard living. His nose is reddened from drinking alcohol and his eyes are bloodshot frequently. He wears his greying brown hair in a high and tight or flat top haircut with no facial hair. His blue eyes twinkle when he smiles, but that is rare. The pinkie finger on his left hand is missing, lost during combat during World War II.

Disabilities: LTC Murphy has been injured in combat but suffers from no debilitating physical injury. Psychologically, he has some memories he would rather forget.
Known addictions: Bourbons and fine tobacco, preferably in a cigar.
Military rank: Lieutenant Colonel
Military combat role: Battalion Commander, 1st Battalion, 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade (US Army)

Service Record:

Personality: LTC Murphy is an introvert at heart. He prefers to remain quiet, keeping things close to the vest. He has gotten to where he is now, leading by example; from the front. He speaks when it is important to do so. His words are clear and concise. He has little patience for those who do not understand what he says or is not listening. If they don’t feel what he says is important, neither are they important. When intoxicated, LTC Murphy is the life of the party. He becomes a regular extrovert; definitely a happy drunk. Murph takes his job very serious and believes in the American cause in Vietnam.
Likes: Baseball/Boston Red Sox, his family, the United States of America and the soldiers of his command.
Dislikes: slackers, people who do not take their job seriously, those who would disregard the US Army regulations so flagrantly.

NPCs:

I cannot locate my flash drive that contains all my RP stuff. We're talking ten years of characters and Role Plays. It must be here someplace.
Sergeant First Class Park watched the view from his vantage point. He could see the drones dropping in from above, right in front of the Brigade’s avenue of approach. ‘The Salvesh are probing us. They want to know who we are, what we are capable of, what our strengths and weaknesses are and more importantly, where they can land troops to fight us.’ He watched the battle begin to unfold in front of him. This was the Recon/counterrecon fight. It would dictate what would happen next.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Cox addressed Captain Otto, “Kevin, this is simply a movement to contact. Find out where they are and pin them down. Once we have located these Salvesh, General Strafford will push the armor forward to break them up.”

“Roger that, sir,” Captain Otto responded to his task force commander. “First platoon is leading in five mikes. I’ll follow Lieutenant Fischer’s platoon with Second platoon, the armor platoon and Third platoon in trail. Lieutenant Butterfield, second platoon will travel with me. His second squad, lead by Sergeant First Class Park is providing overwatch right now.”

“Sounds good, Captain, I’ll be right behind you until you make contact. I will remain in visual contact until we pass the battle on to one of the armor units.

Captain Otto mounted the Grathik construction Armored Personnel Carrier. The vehicle was constructed of a composite Aluminum hull with materials the Boston-born infantry officer had never seen before. He was assured it would stand up to anything created on earth as well as anything the Salvesh employed including armor main gun rounds or laser blasts. Once his track was loaded, he ordered his driver to elevate to one meter. The driver engaged the anti-gravity feature and the vehicle rose into the air.

The first platoon began slowly moving through the streets of the city. Lieutenant Fischer scanned the buildings from the second vehicle in the convoy. His was just over fifty meters behind his lead squad and the other two squads were equally spaced out behind his with the Company Commander and Company Executive officer trailing. The Battalion commander or Task Force Commander’s tactical command post followed the company commander’s vehicles. Then the rest of the Bravo Team vehicles.

Brian Park looked back in the direction of the battalion’s line of departure. He could see the first two vehicles, more than three miles away steadily making their way towards his position. Their progress was slow. They did not want to attract to much attention while providing themselves the opportunity to scan the buildings they were passing for a possible ambush. Brian used his binoculars to search the buildings the Team was moving along. He checked the buildings between the Bravo team’s location and his own; occasionally looking back to see how the squad was doing engaging the drones.

“Vogel, Robson, Simmons, the company is on its way. They are dragging their asses. Try to get as many of those things out of our AO as you can, got it!?” Brian was referring to the squad’s Area of Operations (AO) or the area around them, they were responsible for at the moment.
