Bio
I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO and 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books for over 48 years. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge on the subject to include personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.
I have been writing for pleasure for at least 34+ years, but only got into forum-based Role Playing about fourteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.
When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons (Edition 1 & 2). Later editions came out after I quit that game. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts. I love doing this form of role play, especially since I have a solid foundation on the past.
There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.
I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.
Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport three years ago. :(]
In July, I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government.
Send me a PM for a Role Play.

History
What Brings You To Role Player Guild: There is a large community of writers here. I enjoy the hobby even though I rarely get time to participate. Currently, I try to limit my stories to one at a time. Unfortunately, I rarely find one I enjoy and others are willing to write in. When I do, they die way too early. Life Before You Came To Role Player Guild: It was very different. I don’t know how to explain it in just a few words or sentences. Life Since You Came To Role Player Guild: This is just a side hobby. I have many irons in the fire and this is just one of them. It has taken a back seat to my real life activities.

Quotes or Sayings: “Those who fail to learn the lessons of the past are doomed to repeat them.” – Winston Churchill paraphrasing George Santayana. “If you’re going to fight, fight like the third monkey on the ramp to Noah’s ark and brother…It’s starting to rain.” Theme Song: Warrior’s Call Advice To The World: Forgive the actions of those who came before us. Behaviors we consider heinous crimes today were generally accepted practices many years ago. Anything Else:
I am watching NOS4A2 at the moment. Too bad they producers didn't do their research. This is supposed to be Haverhill, Massachusetts. The accents are decent, but the first scene involving law enforcement officers revealed Sheriff's deputies investigating a child abduction. That might be true in Colorado, California or Texas, but hell NO! Not in Massashusetts. Sheriff's deputies are nothing more than Correctional Officers in the State Houses of Correction. They might serve summonses, but they do not investigate crimes or conduct police patrols. Town/city cops and State Police do that. I know, not a big deal, but it pissed me off.
To make a del lobo outlaw or a lawman? I'm kinda stumped tbh
Yesterday, I went to Thieves Landing as John Marston and killed every member of Del Lobo hanging out there. Looted over $60 in cash and valuables. Later, I killed a guy driving his wagon. Sold that for $40 and then knocked over a stagecoach for $200. Pretty productive outing.
As a member of Del Lobo or a sheriff/deputy, you will be going PvP against the rest of us.
Étienne Baptiste Richard had hung around Baltimore long enough. It was time to get to work. He had all his possessions packed up in a tubular shaped white canvas bag, roughly four foot in length and two feet in diameter. He heaved the thirty-pound sack onto his shoulder and strolled the docks looking for his ship. There were much larger vessels tied up to peers, but somehow, he knew they were not what he was looking for.
Walking the docks caused memories from his time spent in Montreal to come flooding back. He worked the docks for more than a few years before he went to sea. ‘Sea’ the thought made him laugh. No one sailed the seas any longer. Today, they sailed the heavens, the skies or the airways. Gusts of winds caressed these decks, no longer the lapping of waves.
The ship was smaller than any he had flown aboard. Most of his time was spent aboard cargo ships, but even the few combat vessels he’d worked on were much larger than this one. This was more a patrol boat than an actual Frigate, but that was her designation, so Frigate she would be—The Drake.
Étienne walked up the gang plank toward the deck spying his new Captain, a real fire breather this one was with her wild red hair and flamboyant attire. ‘Going to be a fun cruise,’ Étienne thought to himself. He stepped aboard with his sea bag flipping off his shoulder and to the deck at his feet. The six-foot two-inch Frenchman of African descent snapped off a professional salute, “Étienne Richard, reporting for duty, ma’am.” His accent was decidedly French. Once the appropriate salute was returned, he lowered his arm. “I am trained in the use of your deck guns, ma’am—among other things.” He didn’t want to say too much as this was his first meeting with the ship’s captain. He was prepared to store his gear and begin to inspect his new duty station. Étienne was excited about this assignment and prepared for a deployment.
John will most likely be going after El Rey de Rio for the price on his head. If Leo and him link up before that perhaps they could go after him together. Be a good way to get some of us in the same place at least.
Agreed. I mentioned John near the bottom of his history.
@idlehands With Carmen's disdain for Del Lobo gang, she and Leo Velez could have a common bond. We could build a friendship and plot our revenge on the outlaw gang. They both play guitar and are both of Mexican descent, albeit Leo is also Comanche.
Appearance Leo stands 5’ 9” tall, weighing 170 Lbs. He has long black hair and often wears a small black mustache. Leo has a six-inch scar on his chest from a knife fight as well as a few smaller scars lower on his torso. The half breed Comanche and Mexican wears black stone washed denim trousers, a black jacket, black vest and white shirt. Occasionally he wears a decorative red ascot. He wears bent rail boots, tan in color and a black sombrero or a short-brimmed gambler. Whichever hat he is wearing, you will always see two eagle’s feathers tucked into the hat band to remind him of where he came from.
Occupations Since leaving the reservation, Leo has worked as a ranch hand, bounty hunter and outlaw. He will do whatever he needs to survive. He can play the guitar, singing any number of culturally Mexican songs.
Assets Leo rides a painted black and white Mustang named “Carlotta”, complete with a saddle, saddlebags, sleeping roll, rope, canteen, guitar, a small amount of food in his bags, a gun belt with one holster, gun oil, cleaning rag, buck knife, eight throwing knives, silver pocket watch and chain, 150 rounds of .45 ammo, $48.26 in cash and an old Schofield Caliber .45 revolver (1869). This pistol is older than him, but it works and is well maintained. For hunting, he prefers his hand made (Native) “Sky-dog” horse bow with 25 arrows.
Personality Leo is apathetic to the problems of the white man/gringo. He would sooner shoot a man than give him the time of day. If someone helps him, he is indebted to that man for life and would do what he can to help him. Leo is out for himself but does have a softer side if one is able to dig deep enough. Once befriended, he is your champion for life. Leo thrills on excitement. The more dangerous a situation, the more motivated he is to jump in and have at it. He is not educated, but knows how to track, hunt and fish. Leo couldn’t tell you what two plus two equaled nor can he read.
History Leo has a Mexican father and a Comanche mother. He lived on the reservation for most of his life and has learned to speak Comanche “The language of the people” (fluent), Spanish (fluent) and English (90%). He grew up with the culture of both heritages and learned English because he had to. He learned to play the guitar as a young boy, singing several old Mexican songs. Leo’s mother considered her baby a little lion and named him Leo for the constellation named for a Lion. As a boy, he was always bold, eager and willing to get into a fight or trouble. Carlotta worried herself to death about her little Leo.
When Leo, who is also known as “Cockroach” or “Cucaracha” was 15, he left the reservation. He wandered looking for work taking a job as a ranch hand where he learned to shoot and eventually acquired the old Schofield pistol and holster. He practiced with his pistol trying to be the quickest draw and most accurate in the south. He likened himself to the moniker of “Pistolero”, but that nickname never stuck. Leo is a fanatic about keeping his weapon clean. It is important and he wants to take care of it.
At the age of 17, Leo, the Cockroach killed a fellow ranch hand he had worked with simply because the gringo made an offensive remark. He called him a “damn spic”. Leo didn’t like the comment so he drew his sidearm and unleashed a salvo of three rounds into the man’s chest, dropping him to the dusty soil. Leo stole the rancher’s horse and saddle and took off, never looking back.
He left that world behind and never looked back. Leo arrived in Armadillo where he was able to sell himself off as a bounty hunter. He worked for the local law in Armadillo, Blackwater and Strawberry. He eventually got himself a real horse, the painted Palomino he named for his mother, “Carlotta”.
At age 20, Leo took on a bounty of three of the Del Lobo gang members; Juan Cardillo, Pablo Jimenez and Jose “Paco” Lopez. He learned they were hiding out in Gaptooth Ridge west of Armadillo. As it turns out, Leo ran into them on the road near Benedict Pass. After confronting the desperados, Leo shot and killed Cardillo and Jimenez. Paco Lopez took a bit longer. It turned into a fist fight and then a knife fight. Leo sustained a non-fatal injury to his chest which left a scar, but Paco was dead. He tied the corpses onto the three men’s horses, tethered them together and hauled them back to the sheriff of Armadillo. He received a nice hefty purse for his troubles.
Over the next few years, Leo robbed stagecoaches, played poker, traveled through West Elizabeth, New Hanover, Amberino and Lemoyne. He hated the Murfreebrood most of all, taking pleasure killing those inbred fools whenever possible. Occasionally, Leo robbed random riders on a road, but preferred to kill them outright so they could not identify him to deputies later. In all of his escapades, Leo was able to evade the law, capture or even let anyone identify who he was. As he has collected bounties on known criminals, there are of yet, no bounties on him.
Ultimately, the half breed Mexican-Indian made his way back to Armadillo, where the sheriff was more than happy to give him more work if he was interested. He met a man named, John Stone, hailing from Chicago. Leo had never heard of Chicago, but accepted the man for who he was, a fellow bounty hunter. The pair had worked a bounty once, but that was it. They were familiar with one another. Leo had no intentions of killing this man…yet. Maybe he would make a bien amigo.
Additional Info Nada
Personal story arc prepared Members of the Del Lobo gang are searching for Leo Velez. They want to hang him up for killing their brothers. Paco Lopez was actually a lieutenant of the Del Lobo gang. Leo has no fear for the outlaw gang and will more than happily send them to their graves when they appear. He does on occasion look over his shoulder to see if they might be getting close. Leo knows that if he finds and kills Alejandro Diego Rivera Lopez, a Los Lobos lieutenant, also known by the nickname, “El Pachuco” or “The Gangster” the gang will stop chasing him. By killing El Pachuco, Leo will finally be rid of Del Lobos.
Yes, @Xandrya. I had snot hanging down to my belly button and I could not see with all the liquid in my eyes when I exited the gas chamber. That was a very unpleasant experience. But have you ever slept on your pro mask as a pillow? Not very soft.

Background: Thomas Stewart was born December 11, 1983 to Robert and Sharon Stewart of Brookline, an affluent neighborhood of Boston. Bob Stewart started a corporate law firm after law school and a tour with the Marines in Southeast Asia. The elder Stewart has done well for himself building one of the more prestigious law firms in downtown Boston. As a Vietnam Veteran, Thomas Stewart lobbied for veteran’s rights on Beacon Hill and Capital Hill. His father’s accomplishments had a heavy influence on the son’s career choices.
Tom had a sister, Meghan who was kidnapped when she was 10 years old. Tom was 12 and they were very close. Her loss was very tragic to young Tom. His mother believes he has never truly recovered from his sister’s death. After twelve weeks of searching, Boston Police found her corpse face down on the shore of the Neponset River at Joe Finnegan Park in South Boston. The memory of his sister and her death would haunt Tom for the rest of his life. If anything, her death caused the boy to mature rapidly and take things more seriously. No more would there be time for fun and games.
As a teen, Tom’s father enrolled him into a martial arts program that taught Krav Maga, an Israeli self defense. He trained at this discipline for six years earning him a second degree black belt in Krav before graduating high school. He was naturally talented at the activity and especially enjoyed sparring other students.
Tom never had problems with the law as a child, graduating from Boston Latin High School in 2002. Due to his above average academic record as well as varsity letters in both baseball and football, the young man was appointed to the US Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD by Senator Ted Kennedy. Initially, he struggled at the Academy, but eventually understood what was expected of him. It took him more than a year before he developed the necessary level of discipline required to be a midshipman at Annapolis. The US Naval Academy commissions both US Naval officers and US Marine officers while the US Military Academy at West Point, New York commissions US Army officers. You would never see a graduate of West Point in the Navy and vice versa. When Tom graduated from Annapolis, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant (2LT) in the Infantry. He completed The Basic School (TBS) at Quantico, Virginia and then the Infantry Officer Course (IOC) which lasts an additional12 weeks. IOC is where young Lieutenants learn squad and platoon tactical proficiency. Upon completion of his branch qualification course and awarding of MOS 0370, Tom Stewart then attended the two Marine Special Operations Selection and Assessment Phases and then the nine-month Marine Special Operations Corps (MARSOC) Team Commander’s Course (MTCC) for officers. The final training for Lieutenant Stewart prior to being assigned to a unit, was completion of the US Army Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia.
While in the Marine Corps, Tom studied the Martine Corps Martial Arts program. He acquired a reputation as a tenacious fighter from his training partners. He never lost the thrill of sparring with others. His past experience in Krav Maga really helped him out. Before leaving the Marine Corps, he attained the rank of first degree black belt in the MCMAP.
Finally, in late 2008, newly promoted First Lieutenant Tom Stewart was assigned as a Platoon Commander in A Company, 1st Marine Raider Battalion at Camp Pendleton, California. By late 2009, 1LT Stewart found himself in Balkh, Afghanistan commanding a platoon of fifty marines near the border with Uzbekistan. During this deployment, Lieutenant Stewart participated in several engagement with enemy Taliban troops both alongside US Marines as well as allied Afghan National Army units. During a night raid in March 2010, Stewart received a wound in the left leg and right arm, which he recovered from within the year. He received a Purple Heart and the Silver Star for his actions. Later in 2010, his unit rotated back to Camp Pendleton and he was promoted to Captain.
During his time in Balkh, Afghanistan, Lieutenant Stewart witnessed an event that will stick with him for the rest of his life, not to mention the rigors of combat and being injured during a fire fight. His platoon was patrolling the barren wastelands to the north, mounted on Humvees. They came across a large pile of dead bodies near the border with Uzbekistan. The faces on the death appeared anguished, frightened with open eyes staring into the distance. Their bodies distorted, splayed in unnatural ways, limbs intertwined. The marines, worked with Non-governmental organizations and ANA soldiers to remove the corpses, which numbered 123. Once the bodies were removed, they found a black rock shaped in a perfect square with a shiny smooth curface at the center of the pile. The four foot by four foot rock was curious as patterns on its surface appeared to move. The rock did not physically move, but it appeared as though there were slow moving clouds inside the color of the rock, which also seemed to be one of the most densest materials he had ever seen. The movement of clouds in the rock was more like a dark swirling effect, without light. Being in the presence of this rock gave Tom a creepy feeling, that tingling sensation up his spine. It was as though nothing good and positive would ever come to him for the rest of his life. He had the urge to harm himself and knew he needed to get away from this rock. Tom swears he saw the eyes of several dead move as they were being carried away from that rock.
While recovering from his injuries in California, Tom met his soon to be wife, Jillian Malone who had recently graduated from UCLA with a degree in Marine Biology. The young woman’s family lived in Reno, Nevada, but she remained in the San Diego/Oceanside area. The couple hit it off quickly, love at first sight and would get married after he left the Marines back in Boston. Coincidentally, Jillian was in the process of deciding where to take her career. She had several offers across the country and even in some foreign countries. Meeting Tom helped her decide, so she accepted an offer from Woods Hole on Cape Cod.
As a Captain, Tom was assigned as the battalion assistant operations officer for 1st Raider Battalion. He remained in this position until his obligatory time in service ended in the summer of 2011. He was discharged with an honorable discharge and Veteran’s benefits that would pay for another college degree if he chose to return to school, which is exactly what he did. Jillian followed soon after his release from the military
Upon his return to Brookline, Marine Captain Tom Stewart applied to the Boston College School of Law where he received a Juris Doctorate of Law, three years later. Although his father entered Corporate Law, Tom focused on Criminal Law with the intentions of joining the Federal Bureau of Investigations. The majority of field agents in the FBI are State bar certified attorneys prior to working. Having a military background tends to make an applicant much more attractive. In June of 2014, Thomas and Jillian (Malone) Stewart were married at St. Mary of Assumption church in Brookline. His best friend, Jacob O’donahue from High School served as his best man.
After leaving the active component of the Marines, Tom Stewart joined the US Marine Reserve where he was soon promoted to Major and served as Operations Officer in the 1st Battalion, 25th Marines. He also resumed his training in Krav Maga where he has since reached the rank of third degree black belt. He continues to train in the MCMAP with fellow marine reservists when he has time.
Special Agent Tom Stewart has worked for the Boston Field Office for the Federal Bureau of Investigations for the past five years and has seen a lot of bizarre things. He still remembers the black rock in northern Afghanistan, but nothing will prepare him for what is about to happen.
Personality: Tom is a no-nonsense pragmatic person. Everything happens for a reason and the physical properties of the known world can never change. He is serious about his work and has no tolerance for horseplay around crime scenes. Tom tends to be an introvert, not sharing much with others. He will share information about crimes with those professionals he is working with, but keeps everything close to the vest with others. He will even keep things closed to his wife. He believes he is protecting her by not telling her about the bad stuff.
Tom is honest to a fault; in that he may tell people the truth even if they don’t want to hear it. He takes responsibility for his own actions, a trait drilled into him by his father and reinforced by the US Marine Corps.
Tom has worked at trying to be flexible. It is very challenging. His inflexibility about his own ideas is one of his biggest downfalls. Mentally, things are as they are supposed to be and he uses what he knows to help him solve crimes.
He can be driven to work on cases. Fatigue and frustration do not slow him down. He views those traits as weakness, urging others close to him to work through their obstacles also and see that there are issues with a case they just have not figured out yet. He is determined to solve a case and will work dogmatically to figure it out.
Tom is human and feels for the victims and their families. He has compassion. He goes out of his way to insure victims are protected; their interests are protected and in the case of homicide, their loved one’s remains are respected. Even if he puts on this front as a tough no nonsense law enforcement professional, he still understands people for who they are. It is simply very logical to him.
As a former combat infantryman, he is very patient. Being a member of the military teaches one to hurry up and wait. This experience translates into a very patient person. Likewise, he expects a similar level of patience in others.
Finally, the FBI Special Agent is loyal. He is loyal to his family, his nation and his friends. He would do anything to help them and protect those close to him. A man with friends needs for nothing.
Family, Friends, and Associates: Tom was married while in the Marine Corps. His wife, Jillian (Malone) Stewart, 33 studied Marine Biology at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). Jillian works at Woods Hole Oceanographic Research institute on Cape Cod. Jillian loves her work and is devoted to her studies. The topic of children has not come up yet, but secretly, Tom would like to have one or two. For now, they are both focused on their careers, attempting to spend as much time with each as they can.
Both Tom’s parents, Bob and Sharon still live in Brookline. His father retired from his law practice years ago.
There are a few aunts, uncles and cousins who live in the area. At least once a year, Tom visits his sister, Meghan’s grave in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
Tom’s High School friend Jacob O’Donahue is also an attorney practicing law in the Boston area.
Likes: Jill Stewart, (wife), family, people who are punctual, teamwork, reading military history, crime dramas, New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, and classic rock and roll, specifically the guitar greats; Hendrix, Clapton, Page, Keith Richards, Jeff Beck and B.B. King.
Dislikes: Arrogant people who brag excessively, the attitude of entitlement a large group display in our world, selfishness, those who think only of themselves and have never existed in a teamwork environment.
Fears: Heights. Tom has had a fear of heights as long as he can remember. Everytime he jumped from an airplane in the military he had a panic attack but pushed through it. It took massive quantities of courage to get himself out of the airplane.
The thought that something bad could happen to his parents or his wife; the ones he loves, including the friends he has made working at the FBI office in Boston.
Tom does not have a long list of fears. He squishes insects on reaction and feels a sense of adrenaline or a tingling in his spine when confronted with a dangerous situation, either in combat or during an investigation that goes wrong. Training and experience causes him to react in the appropriate ways.
Languages: English (fluent), Spanish (90%), German (75%), Pashto (50%)
Weaknesses: The injury he sustained while in combat in Northern Afghanistan rendered his leg weaker than previously. He can still run, just not as fast as he once could. His speed is fast enough to pass a physical fitness test.
The experience of removing 123 corpses from some unearthly rock that might be found in a piece of fiction has left him doubting many of his oldest values. The experience really messed him up. It shook his confidence initially, which he regained quickly, but lead him to doubt those things he took for granted in the physical world.
Off-Duty Clothing/Equipment: Tom dresses in business casual when not working. Clothing: He wears casual slacks; Khakis, Dockers or LL Bean as well as different colored golf shirts. He prefers a soft leather loafer and occasionally wears tennis shoes. Weapons: His off-duty weapon is a small frame Sig Sauer P226 chambered in 9mm. Tools/Equipment: Tom carries a Gerber Leatherman on his belt at all times and carries a kuboton as a key chain. This is a martial arts weapon he has been trained to use in law enforcement. It is a simple piece of steel measuring five inches by a half an inch in diameter. He may or may not carry a six-inch knife in an ankle holster. He also carries a Google Pixel mobile phone.
Operational Clothing/Equipment:
Clothing: Black tactical trousers with the oversized cargo pockets, black mid tactical boot looking more like athletic footwear and a black golf shirt or T-shirt with the FBI log on it. For tactical situations, include a ballistic assault vest with the letters “FBI” emblazoned across the back and in small letters on the front, tactical thigh holster, shooter’s gloves, an FBI ball cap and sunglasses. The ball cap could be traded for a high cut ballistic tactical helmet. This kit would also include throat mic and communications equipment. He typically carries two extra pistol magazines as well as eight 30-round box magazines for his M4 Carbine.

Man, this is tough. I played the game through as a good guy revealing an eagle as Arthur's spirit animal at his grave and a second time as a bad guy; killing everyone he came across revealing a dark coyote as his spirit animal. the best part of RDR2 is the story. I secretly hoped Arthur would have an affair with either Sadie Adler or Charlotte, the widow. None of that and Abigail just pisses me off. Poor John Marston saddled with her whiney ass.

Gunther is a morning person, but that comes from a life of serving in the military.

Extras

Quotes or Sayings: “Those who fail to learn the lessons of the past are doomed to repeat them.” – Winston Churchill paraphrasing George Santayana. “If you’re going to fight, fight like the third monkey on the ramp to Noah’s ark and brother…It’s starting to rain.”
Theme Song: Warrior’s Call
Advice To The World: Forgive the actions of those who came before us. Behaviors we consider heinous crimes today were generally accepted practices many years ago.
