Mason Drake

The Old Woman's sudden awakening ended the ordeal quickly, the scythe-wielder getting sent through the floor. Though Mason wanted to believe the fight was over, the Oro didn't strike him as someone who would stay down for long. As the spectral hands lifted them out of the hole, took off toward the bottom of the mountain, where Lulu awaited his return, not before whispering "Hold on tight" to the Old Woman.

Once at the bottom, Mason hastily shoved his shoulder back in it's socket before situating both himself and the woman on Lulu's back before making haste for the safety of Vrondi. Though he didn't want to abandon his comrades, he couldn't risk the return of the Basilisk tamer. Little did the seraph notice that all in his wake became lightly singed, from grass, to branches, to bushes. His breathing ragged, he pushed Lulu as hard as the young horse could go, not stopping until he reached the city's gates.

Flopping off his horse, Mason lay with his back to the ground, a slow groan escaping his lips. After several moments, he eased himself to a sit and looked at his injured leg. Seeing that the bone had begun to heal incorrectly, he reached forward, gritting his teeth, with a crunch and a grunt, it was fixed. Exhaling heavily, Mason hobbled to his feet, before looking to one of the gate's guardsmen. "Excuse me sir! Could you please get Mirror for me? Tell him that the mission was a success... Also, if you could find me a Taxis healer, I would much appreciate it!" he shouted.
Nathaniel immediately started to explain what happened to the traveler, but was suddenly cut off by the feeling of thousands of tiny needles getting thrust into his flesh. A sharp pain shooting throughout his entire nervous system, causing his body to violently spasm.

"Look boys, I think it broke!" Said on of the older kids with a laugh as they threw a kick into Nathaniel's side.

But the blind orphan could not hear them, for a loud ringing filled his ears.

As Jason continued to practice near the pool, he received another one of the notifications he had grown to both love and hate.

You have run out of MP.
You are running low on Stamina.
You are experiencing a fast rate of Skill Progression.
System:Jason

Apparently constantly running [Tremor Sense I] while trying to figure out Aqua Orb was quite taxing. Just as Jason was about to consume a mana crystal, a group of monsters suddenly came running! A Wisp, bloodied and weaving in panicked zig zags, flying away from a Slime in hot pursuit. The slime’s low speed, however, and the fact that several dark colored spots on its body implied injuries, meant that it too must have been prey for something. Indeed, seconds later a Fanged Lizard appeared over the rise, spitting poison at the Slime though it missed every shot. Several feet above the lizard, a second Wisp seemed concerned for the first one’s safety, as it seemed to be straining to catch up to the Slime before the Lizard did.

Deep down, Jason smiled; what a fortuitous situation indeed...

Carefully noting the lizard's speed, he consumed the first of his two crystals before summoning a [Rock Spire I] out of the ground at a 45 degree angle. If his timing right, the spire would come out just in time for the lizard's speed to get it impaled deeply through the gut, and turned into what would be little more than a sitting duck.

Next, waiting for the injured wisp to get within range, Jason quickly lunged up and attempted to spike it into the ground. Then turning his attention to the second wisp, he spat a ball of bile at the flying puff (empowered with whatever mana he had left), and consumed his second crystal, ready to dodge any retaliatory attack from the cheeky little shit.

Though he couldn't see, the commotion caused by the other children over some sort of traveler visiting the village caught Nathaniel's attention. Slowly making his way toward the sounds of wonder and joy, he heard the stranger calling for the youth of the village to try their hand at taming monsters, and as a gift, offered to provide them with their first monster.

As a blind Orphan, many in the village treated Nathaniel as if he were worthless, and would never amount to anything; this was his chance to prove them wrong! As he hastily made his way towards the man, his acute hearing picked up something that made him stop.

Nearby, some of the older kids, who had been turned away, were bragging about how they managed to steal one of the monsters while the traveler wasn't looking. Marching up to the thieves, Nathaniel reached out to grab whatever it was that was stolen, "That isn't yours!" he exclaimed as he felt his hand wrap around a smooth sphere. A fight over the object ensued, before Nathaniel slipped and fell back, something slimy suddenly wrapped around his hand.

As heads began to turn, the true culprits did not hesitate to frame Nathaniel for their misdeed, shouting claims that they tried to stop him.
