I figured people were showing up, from what I read. Kaite was waiting at the top of the gangplank and facial recognition is fed through his eyepatch, identifying the newcomers.
Kaite has faith that Rae and Raymond are aware of where they're parked and why, and decided to wait around and greet...Rather than let people meander about the ship. Security issue.
Edit: For self-evident reasons following the collab. The situation may have been resolved far sooner if Kaite hadn't broken from the habit of following Ray from a distance as to always be at his beck and call...Though Kellian would have just as easily been executed with a gunshot to the head at point-blank than Rae could have subdued him. Y'know, without the mess of brains and blood all over the captain.
Kaite takes no prisoners and gives no shits. It's better that it played out this way.
But nawh, in a meta way of phrasing, I had no clue what was going on in the collab and didn't want to tie my character up by going on a wild goose chase for no reason. Especially since I figured Ray and the others would show up, anyway.
