I honestly don't care what people think of me as long as a mutual respect can be reached to the extent of having fun with RP. :3

Kaite's eyebrows lifted as the Kautada's skin bled its hue in favor of a snowy white. Though it took him aback, the shift seemed to Kaite like a bit of soul had worked its way back into the supposed monster. For what it was worth, the security officer considered it a good thing, as their past meant little and morale was important to maintain on such a vessel as The Monroe...lest old tendencies escape its inmates.

"Serendipity, Laz eit iz. I look forvard to vehrking vith-" was about as far as he made it into the more formal greeting, going so far as to offer a gloved hand to shake. However, it seemed that the new edition had other intentions than engaging in respectfully civil formalities as Laz stepped past the gesture to smoosh Kaite's face.
Kaite froze from both the question and the new science officer's disregard for personal space. The first thought was to consider culture, assuming this was a type of greeting even though the audacious roaming of their hands was anything but welcoming. "Perhaps iz best not to say" Kaite coldly replied to the question of his race, uncertain existentialism aside, he was still technically outside the ship. With that, he pulled an arm free to pull his scarf back up as his grit teeth had shown a glimpse of fangs. "Ehn I vahz...raised...by humans, you could say. Iz how I learned to speak- now, vill you kindly?" the continuation to the response came with a bit of a bark to his tone as Kaite turned enough to push L'azul back to arm's length, scarf mostly covering his confused blush.

"I-I am an officer ouf zeh Monroe, as I stated. I encourage you to keep a respectful distance from me, Laz" Kaite insisted, pulling his hat back down into place with his free hand as the cramped ears fluttered, underneath. Being addressed in such a way was the last thing he had ever expected, having the most intimate contact with another individual be a tossup between shaking Raymond's hand when they first men, ushering in his new life, or strangling his brother to death.
I have a post ready. Its been a week so...
That escalated quickly.
:x

Have we figured out posting orders, or could I go ahead and start working on one?
I'm sure they'll get along just fine. :P

The captain is alive and 'fool me once' doesn't have room for being offended by Kellian who, in Kaite's mind, is just being insecure about getting beat up after biting off more than they could chew. Teasing Kaite for his failure is just a good way to remind them to pay better attention.
Only criticism from Raymond could actually harm them.

@Vulkan

Kaite would still see it as failing to uphold an essential facet of the job description. Shapeshifters like Kellian were never mentioned and they couldn't have possibly been prepared for the unseen threat - not to mention the skill of the assassin in question.. Needless to say, Kaite will probably be a bit...put off...by news of what happened, and especially with the decision to welcome Kellian aboard in response.
@Akayaofthemoon @Jones Sparrow

Can't blame ya. It was certainly worth reading.
I mean, yeah...what could possibly go wrong with welcoming the captain's would-be assassin to the crew?

On that note, is there a followup post coming with Raymond actually addressing the newcomers that Kaite is barely managing to welcome? (When they should be/should have been...I dunno...running security on the Monroe to keep assassins and stowaways from getting on the ship ~_~ )
That's really quite the read.
:o
Nvm.
I figure we're waiting on the collab.
Sorry for the disconnection in my posts.
I'm really trying to be a part of the group from now on.

Kaite pressed the damp cold rag to her face, covering an eye as the other watched the newcomer who had so simply been allowed into the camp by Tiberius's pathetic knightly honor. Though her thoughts had aught speak for themselves as she soaked in the tattered rags laden with her own blood. Poor as the roster was, it was set, and accepting newcomers as degenerate as the slag who introduced herself as 'Morefindiel Vanarys' was worthy of a scoff which the black knight withheld.

Business within the group was a silent sport, and good leaders knew when to strike enemies as well as those that presented themselves as friends. With that notion, Kaite wiped the damp cloth across her face before placing it over their other eye. To her other side, the beast among ranks, 'They-who-I-know' tentatively tried on the ring they were given.
A thought at first accented with raised eyebrows curiously detailed an expression as the otherwise large ring for the old elf's fat fingers shrunk to constrict around Vert's. It was likely better that way, having a shackle on a beast. Kaite only hoped that the undead Eru possessed enough judgment to know what was held in their infernal trap.

As if the incentive of betrayal from their life-companion wasn't enough, the sight of the ring claiming 'They-who-I-know's finger tured Kaite's eyes to her discarded gauntlet. Somehow having worked its way over the plating in the process, the ring sat snugly against the metal of the right ring-finger. More than a simple branding iron, Kaite had now seen the rings to be a catalyst for which this spirit could invade the prime material plane.
Kaite knew her next wish, though had no motivation to reach out to the gauntlet. In some dark recesses, she hoped the soul of Eru was tasked with dealing with the deus ex machina that the name of its host held.

"Don'y worry, here. I'd gut ya cold bu'fore y'could stop us" Kaite chirped, accompanied with a shallow chuckle, echoing with The Storyteller. A palpable moment passed where she narrowed her eyes at 'They-who-I-know' before frowning in a dismissive manner on one side of her face as if to express disappointment. True, though mostly because Kaite's paranoia was unrequited by both those who she was forced to be comrades with as well as this creature whom she was expressly encouraged not to trust. It didn't sit well with the 'Knight-in-name' Kaite, who slew beasts wearing men's skin for a living.

"Yeh neh...welcome to tha family" She continued with a pained chuckle and a dismissive wave, her free hand scratching at her fingers like an addict, feeling naked without the gauntlets she loathed to don. "Beast er not...hrrnnff!-" Kaite growled as she fought to lift herself to an elbow. "-I saw wacha did...an I'm sure y'got room for th'plenty we're ta'face" they continued with a forced smirk that seemed almost discontent, though accepting none the less. It would, after all, be hypocrisy for a monster welcome to the champions to reject another monster.

A soft inhale brought the sickly sweet scent of game blood and renewed coals to Kaite's senses. Tilting her head back to sight the source, the knight's heart sank as she saw the small elf from before. She seemed to be handling the carcass of a deer, and good for her, somehow managing to fell a swift beast and retrieve it in record time.
"Such are the knife-ears..." Kaite quietly sighed with a commical edge as she fought her way into a kneeling position, figuring that laying prone encouraged sloth. Watching them for a while, the knight wondered what kind of stomach the seemingly innocent elf had for actually gutting the beast. Viscera was no stranger to the knight, and every inch of Kaite cried out to offer assistance, though she would just as readily stand by and wait for a moment of falter before offering her hand.

"Y'got that, Lilly?" Kaite shamelessly called to the elf, having completely forgotten her name. "I got y'set-a hands, roit. Though y'wilds wo'need em, though~" the deceptively old knight chuckled in a teasing manner, cracking her knuckles as she warred with her stamina to remain composed after the blood loss.
Darkly, she growled to Gorman out the side of her otherwise friendly grin, "Help m'stand. Make et'convincin'."
