RP News
In other news, the OCC should be up later today once I finish straightening up my apartment and finishing up reviewing some papers for work. Ideally before that time somebody else will have expressed their interest in joining our little romp. If not well c'est la vie as the old saying goes, "To do our country loss; and if to live, The fewer men, the greater share of honor."

Side Note: If you guys feel up to it you are more than welcome to make more than one Character, what ever you feel comfortable with. And if either of you know of anyone that would be willing to be coughindoctrinatedcough drafted into our cause feel free to ask.

When I'm talking Rogue Squadron-like. I'm talking about the year 1998 and sitting down with a N64 and a controller, or heck even putting floppy disks into your old computer to play Tie Fighter or X-Wing. You know to capture that sense of awe and adrenalin you got from being chased by a Tie Interceptor. Though I'm glad you asked about the books because thematically, for how Michael A. Stackpole captures the day to day lives of the pilots was an important part for the inspiration of the RP. And so prior to the Assualt on Coruscant mostly space missions maybe with the occasional ground operation.

A Brief Overview
- 3660 BBY, The Great Galactic War, The Star Wars Universe
- 21 years into the conflict during the midst of the brutal Rim Campaign.
- Our Characters shall be either Jedi or standard pilots in the Republic Navy.
- The RP beside being filled with daring space combat and adventure will include the moral themes of good versus evil, and the deconstruction and analysis of selflessness, and heroism as driving factors in our lives.

The Story So Far
The Republic thought after the end of The Great Hyperspace War that the Sith Empire had finally fallen for the last time, they were wrong. Sith Lord Vitiate and a handful of survivors managed to escape the slaughter of the rest of their kind and hid away in the unknown regions, far away from the prying eyes of civilization. Lord Vitiate would reach power of unimaginable levels having seemingly unlocked the power of immortality. Soon though Lord Vitiate would be nothing more than a mere memory as he resurrected the empire which had fallen. He would go on to take the title of Sith Emperor and with his Dark Council would create an empire to rival the Galactic Republic once more. Talk of revenge fueled their drive. Revenge against the Jedi and the Republic they held so dear.

During this time the Galactic Republic hit something of a rough set of years. Starting with the Great Sith War lead by Exar Kun, The Mandolorian Wars in which these savage galactic warriors were sent on a war path against the Republic after being prodded by the Sith Empire. A war in which the Revanchist lead by Revan would splinter off from their order to fight on the side of the republic. As a result Revan would find out the existence of the Sith Empire laying in wait in the unknown regions and would then spark the Jedi Civil War to prepare the Republic for what was to come. As well as the Kanz Disorders a "minor" secessionist revolt in the Outer Rim where nearly Six Billion people died. All and all it was not a very good time to be the Galactic Republic.

Though an earlier invasion would be thwarted before it could be launched by intervention on Revan's part the war would come years later. Before conflict arose several puppet governments had already been established in the Republic's Outer Rim by the Sith and they had gained the support of the Great Chiss Ascendency in the Unknown Regions. And in the year 3681 BBY The Sith Fleets entered Repubic space.

It is now the year 3660 BBY the Great Galactic War has been raging across the galaxy for over twenty years and was showing no signs of slowing down. Death tolls were mounting on both the sides of the Galactic Republic and the resurgent Sith Empire. The Rim Campaign had begun one year earlier as the Sith Empire under the leadership of Darth Angral moved to solidify their hold in the outer rim territories. But the Galactic Republic was able to repulse the Sith advances and under the leadership of the hotheaded Jedi Master Ven Zallow the Republic was able to push into Sith controlled territory and strike at the heart of the Empire. After the failed Sith invasion at Orda Randama the Republic seizing a moment of weakness in their opponents pushed into Sith controlled space. After a tactical retreat during the Battle of Korriban the Republic Navy went into orbit over the old capital of the Sith Empire Ziost. It was here that the Imperial Navy after having regrouped after Orda Randama met the Republic Navy and where one of the longest space battles of the entire war would take place.

It is now the fifteenth day of the battle and the Republic had just brought in reinforcements from the Core Worlds including the relatively fresh recruits from the Republic Naval Academy on Coruscant. Some of these fresh-faced recruits would be gathered together into a volunteer "suicide squadron" known as Echo Squadron. This is their story.

Character Info
- Our Characters Shall be various Jedi and Republic Pilots of various races.
- We shall be New Recruits (Read as Jedi and New Pilots just shipped off of Coruscant, eager and ready for battle)
- The older and more grizzled veteran NPCs will looked down upon us with jaded disdain because we have not seen half of what they have or ever could. They are sad because their friends blew up or something.
- The Jedi will not be experienced masters, instead either Knights or the Padawans assigned to them. The Jedi order is still recovering after the Jedi Civil War though numbers seem to be strong and they are able to field a small army to help the Republic.
- Our primary weapon of choice will be the Aurek-class tactical strikefighter. The Aurek or A-Wing as the pilots sometime call them were to be used by Echo because the heavier and less maneuverable Liberator was less suited for the quick and dirty tactics that an experienced Pilot could pull off with in a Aurek that were essential for the types of suicide mission they would end up going on.
- The exact size of the Squad will be determined once if we make it out of the Interest Check Phase.

The Situation at the Start
Having been brought in during a lull in the fighting as part of the Republic resupply effort, our characters were brought aboard the Valor-class cruiser Resurgence. It was here after initial briefing that you new recruits were informed of the formation of Echo Squad and subsequent looking for recruits. A new fighter squadron with the intent to take on suicide missions against the Imperial Navy that others would be just be too stupid to try and do. And for some reason you agreed be it for the glory, sense of duty or whatever have you. Being new bloods as you were sometimes refereed to the battle hardened crew of the Resurgence treated you and the likes of you with disdain fresh faced and eager and not having seen the things they have. The RP will take place in the immediate aftermath of your first mission briefing for Echo. You have flown the courses before, and have run through all the flight sims but it is time for your first real taste of combat.

For the most part he is finished and done. Having based him off a conglomeration of several ancient Chinese tales of wandering heroes the creation took a form of its on.

Appearance:
Xuan is by no means a small or slender person. Tall towering over most people that he meets. He has a build to match with a a solid figure of muscle akin to that of the old King of Omashu Bumi. Muscle that was forged through hours of hard work, hours of dragging boulders and shouldering a carrying pole far up mountains and hills. Looking a bit on the more wilder side his hair is long and unkempt reaching down close to his shoulders. The most striking part of his figure though may be the bandana wrapped around his eyes black in color. Though what lays beneath is truly the striking fact where the eye sockets one where only black smoldered and scared pits remained, remnants of an accident a long time prior and a reason for existence.

Abilities:
An experienced earthbender with still developing skills in metalbending. Xuan relies on his bending to be able to see the world around him like the ancient earth bender herself Toph Beifong. Having forcing himself after his accident through mostly error and retrying he had learned to metalbend out of necessity to be able to see in cities where steel and iron have begun to take over bare earth. His style is slow and methodical like the great glaciers of the frozen lands with a calm and almost leisurely pace with controlled movements only snapping quickly when the time for action is upon him. This all being as a direct result of trying to keep his feet in contact with the ground as much as possible to maintain a connection with the earth.

Equipment and Bionics:
He carries only a small rucksack upon his back and a long wooden walking stick that he holds in his left hand.

Personality:
Boisterous and a bit of a hot headed fool Xuan does not recognize any resolution to a conflict that does not end in blood and violence.Bumpkinish and crude in his mannerisms and always the first to give a hearty slap on the back or to tell an inappropriate joke he is at least never not lively. Putting the values of courage and determination before let us say wisdom or forethought can lead to him causing more trouble than it was worth in the end. Though having traveled quiet a bit and experiencing many facets of life he can sprout the occasional observation on life on bit of wisdom. In the end though a life of treating every problem as a door and yourself as the battering ram has consequences physical, social and emotional all of which he exhibits and memories that still haunt him.

Backstory:
There was a time when Xuanzang an orphan from nowhere who had ended up becoming the captain and earthbender for the Ba Sing Se Badgermoles and was ready to win the The Pro-bending Championship Tournament at the ripe age of sixteen He had everything he ever wanted fame, money, friends, romance, a home, and a sense of direction in life. . It was than that tragedy struck and during the semifinal match an uncontrolled blast from a fire bender hit him in the eyes burning them and permanently removing his eyesight. In a moment he had seemed to lost everything, his team, his source of income, his house, his contracts, and most importantly of all his purpose in life.The people that once cheered for him soon forgot his name and the story of the orphan underdog who could of won it all. Xuan had nothing in life except Pro-bending that was all he wanted to do and that all he thought he was good at. Unable to see and eventually unable to continue paying his rent he was kicked out into the streets of Ba Sing Se.

It was there in one of the cities many slums that he ran into a man that he woulds simply know as the Old Geezer. An earthbender like himself he claimed that when he was a young man he was caught in a cave-in when he was using his earth bending powers to excavate a tunnle to lay new train tracks and that a family of badgermoles saved him. The story he told Xuan was that in his time with the moles that he learned their way of seismic sense and when he finally came back to the land of the surface years later he promised to teach others the same path.Wither this story was truthful or not the Old Geezer did in fact teach him the basic of being able to sense the world with his bending, to be able to be connected to the earth and all the rocks and those around it. It was then that the Old Geezer promised Xuan to continue on this mission of helping others as the Geezer helped him and the badgermoles had helped him before, to continue the story of the earth's harmony as he put it. Taking these words to heart for \three years when he was seventeen years of age to his twentieth year he wandered the four corners of civilization, walking the earth to try and find purpose in a world that seemingly abandoned him and to help anyone he could along the way.

It was a month ago that he was connected through word of mouth by a group that wanted to end the tyranny of future industries once and for all. An offer that Xuan took gladly looking for a new challenge, a new purpose.
