Update: Just edited the OP here.

Still working on preparing the IC.
@HachiRoku

Oh hi,

So what I had in mind was a universe "similar" to our own. But that isn't meant to be a tight restriction on what players create for their characters. For example, my own character/s will be humanoids, while others have expressed interest in vehicular entities, and maybe some will be inclined to create a character that leans more towards fantasy. Honestly, since life on each planet essentially develops at its own pace and takes it own path, any of these things are fine by me.

So yeah, I think it would be fun and interesting to mix it up and have characters from many types of genres interact. Necromancer meets cyborg, human meets fantasy, Steampunk meets horrifying alien, etc.

The only loose stipulation I have at this point is that your creation fits within the realm of possibilities. But again, I use that term loosely, and I'm at least hoping that players will use a certain amount of plausible background to make their creation somewhat believable.

I hope what I said here helps. I'm gonna edit the OP here to add this information as well.
@Tahlko

Thank you for your concerns on this matter, and if you also want a character that is hard to kill, that's fine. But Quote5 did give a definition of his intention with this:

It would be able to rebuild itself, even if utterly destroyed. Would that be fine?

and the standard dictionary definition of immortal: ""not mortal; not liable or subject to death; undying."" doesn't discriminate, and since there wasn't any other information provided in this case, I based my answer on those two pieces of standing information.

Maybe there is another word for something or someone who is highly resilient, enduring or hard to kill, which would actually be okay for this RP. But not by the standard definition of immortal.

So yes, @Quote5 ""resistant. Probably regenerate from very little but not unkillable" is fine by me.

I'm liking the feedback you guys are giving me so far, it's helping me draw up some guidelines that will prevent outright chaos and other things, so any other questions or concerns are welcome!

That said, I should probably keep working on the IC. I'm looking forward to seeing all your characters.

@Quote5

This PR will pretty much cover all Tags; fantasy, sci-fi, horror, military, etc. There aren't really any restrictions in that regard. So yeah, a sentient spacecraft sounds good to me, actually. Kinda reminds me of an old TV show I can't remember the name of right now.

As for your character being immortal, oof.... Thinks for a moment.

Hmm, I'm actually glad you asked the question. I think maybe immortality should be one of the few things not allowed. I don't mind if your character is near indestructible, or an artificial life form that has the ability to regenerate, but immortality will likely cause some issues in the long run. Not to mention, if you remove the threat of death from anything, you're essentially removing a lot suspense and thrill factors from the game. So, yes to the powerful and sentient regenerating spacecraft, for sure, but I have to say no to it being immortal.

(also still working on my own character/s and the OP for the IC. I'll hopefully get it up tomorrow.)
@Scorpionius

That is just completely and utterly... acceptable. Yes.

Also welcome to the both of you that have posted since my last post as well. All these new faces in one place should prove interesting, I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays out. Please check the guidelines/rules of casual RPing before we start, that knowledge should be useful to you. There's a little write-up about the standards on the main forum page in the casual section. But don't worry, the GM has a big say in what is acceptable as well, and I'm not a Nazi or anything, so it's all good.

On that note, I've started working on the IC and my own character/s sheet, so it won't be too long before I post the link to the thread here. Still gonna suggest that you all start thinking about what your characters will be. Keep in mind that it is set in a universe, so space travel, or something like it, will likely come into play in order for us to interact somehow. I'm not saying you need to be a space veering race, you can be a horse riding barbarian on some desolate world if you want. But players in RP's always tend to find a way to interact with other players somehow, no matter how inaccessible another character might seem. It's all part of the fun!

Anyway, I'll head off and start working on the IC again. Keep your eyes open for the link here :D

btw, I'm still accepting interest on this, so anyone else wanting to join are more than welcome.
I'm glad you all like it! Someone even invited a friend. No idea who that could have been... Probably that Gold fella

Anyway yes, I'll start working on getting the IC made, so you guys can start working on a character sheet for that if you want. I'll post the link to the thread here when it's ready, so keep your eyes open.

It might take a day or two to get it ready, which will give more people time to show there interest here as well if they want. Once it's started, I'll probably keep the Apply option open for a while, if anyone wants to jump in a bit later as well.

If you have any questions about anything, feel free to ask here or send me PM. Either way is fine.

This is gonna be fun!
Hello all!

The Title of this RP will change once I start the IC, but it does give a little insight to what I have in mind here; an RP about, well... anything, within reason, but not really.

To make sense of what I just said, this RP will be contained in a Universe. Maybe it's our own universe, maybe it's some other universe, but maybe that detail doesn't really matter anyway. The point is, You can play as an individual character, a small group of people, a nation, an entire race of people, the population of a world, or even an animal or insect. You can have super powers, be a helpless derelict on a street in the alleyways of some dark city, or be the captain of an adventurers spaceship. The options are pretty much endless.

By one way or another, I expect the different players will have their creations unite, find conflict with, or just simply bypass other character players in some fashion or form as the RP develops. This isn't the first time I've done this, I've tried it out before on another forum and it actually worked quite well, so I figured why not do it here?

Despite the loose feeling of this RP, I will need to set up a few vague guidelines, such as; "Don't destroy the universe" or "Don't do things that ruin other players fun", but mostly just common sense stuff.

Edit: Guidelines for character creations

Character sheet formatting

Since each character is gonna be different by most definitions, the format will be up to the player more or less. For instance, I wouldn't expect the format description of a vehicular entity to have the same format as someone who is RPing a human character. So I'm pretty much gonna leave that up to the players discretion. Just as long as it covers who or what they are in adequate detail.

I will actively GM the RP, but only to a point, since I don't really want to inhibit peoples creativity, freedom, or fun.

So how about it? XD

@everyone in the catacomb

Light me up, friend

The damp, foreboding atmosphere of the catacomb seemed to weigh down time, it almost felt like two weeks had passed since Devlin had entered that house of death. It wasn't the first time she had found herself in a burial chamber, her occupation had a way of luring her to the darker recesses of existence, but in the past she had always been alone, a far cry from the diverse company she now had.

She kept her weapons sheathed and studied her companions, them and the details of the chamber they had entered, while keeping a keen eye on her closest friend, Ren, while he proceeded to gracefully, yet somehow awkwardly, convey his muted sentiments.

"In case logic forsakes anyone here," She loosely began relaying Ren's message to the group; "it's smarter if we stick together. We're stronger that way. Ren and I will do our best to protect you, and I think I'm correct in assuming we all share the same sentiments in that regard."

She paused to allow Ren time to further his analysis of the blood, and confirmed;

"We'll choose a direction and move forward together. We'll see this through... come what may."

It was now that Devlin drew her sword once more. Her nostrils flared as she deeply inhaled the stale odor of death. Electrical energy surged her system, manifesting itself in the form of violet tripod legs that crawled their way down the weapon and dispelled in a series of sparks at the tip of the blade. She then placed her free hand on Ren's shoulder and gently kissed his cheek. When her lips made contact, he would have felt the short, tickling sting of electricity against his skin.

"Stay close to me...." Her whispered words brushed warm against his ear.

She regards Jack, Gabriel, Corc, and the others more briefly, before nodding her head in direction of the hallway across the room, and suggests;

"I feel that's the direction we should take. If no one objects, we should keep moving now."

Allowing a moment for the other members to voice their reply, and regardless of their opinion on the matter, Devlin calmly makes her way to Jack and takes one of his torches without asking, but gives him a slight nod to convey her cold gratitude. Having the torch in one hand and her sword in the other, she proceeds into the hallway on the other side of the chamber.

I'm really glad I've got a positive reaction for this guys! And I agree with you, I can't think of any ways to make it even better atm. But hey, anyone is free to suggest more if they manage to think of something. I know it's not gonna be easy, but still, any suggestions are welcome!

getting ready to fire this baby up!
I've got a fantastically exciting idea!

Think LIBRARY! That's right, the RP will be set in a library, where each player can be their very own book. What type of book you are is completely up to you. Fiction, nonfiction, poetry or science. You choose! Of course, since you'll be a book, the interactive options are mind-blowing; you can sit on the shelf, lay on the floor, let your pages flap in the breeze of the nearby open window - the possibilities are endless!!

So give me your feedback; share your concerns, ask me questions, and any suggestion on how to make this even more exciting are welcome.

I swear this is gonna be a real page turner!
