Marianas jaw clenched, her eyes closing for a moment as she sends a last message to Benoit before looking back to her brother.

She doesn’t say anything, an annoyed fire in her eyes. He was right. She knew he was right. Mariana could do nothing to change that fact that she, like all of her siblings and mother, were suspects for murder.

What a damper on the mood.

“If they want to speak with me, they can do so in my home. Not some beach house of station.” She says, pulling a notepad from her purse, writing her address down as Benoit pulls up. “Here. Give them this if they ask for me. If not, I don’t exist. Yeah?” She hands him the paper, walking to the car before pausing, her hand in the door handle.

“You…you don’t actually think one of us killed him…right?” She asks, her voice softer now, more vulnerable.

There are two rival families in the city of New Orleans. Of course, amongst others, the only difference here? Magic. Not kiddie play fairies or elves, magic.

It was rooted within both families, the Roverios family and the Mandela family. It was as if in each soul lived a specific spark, one moving through their nerves, creating life and overflowing emotions around them, the other swimming it blood, casting shadows and darkening thoughts.

It was usual mafia drama, territory battles, who was impacting whose business, they just had more ammo. More risk.

The Roverios Family was famously known for their arms dealing, instead of exclusively using and carrying drugs, just as the opposite was the same for the Mandela family. Even though the product is different, the hatred runs deep, ancient.
These days, it’s chalked up to territory battles, but those highest in the families know better.

The Roverios Family

Blood is thicker than water, but is it thicker than smoke? Shadow? It shouldn’t be. Not useless the shadows already run through your veins. The Roverios family goes back centuries, being broken down and rebuilt, hidden and working through the shadows. Only direct relatives have gifts given from the moon, powers if you will. While the light of day weakens them, the darkness of night causes them to be quiet the threat, from teleporting between shadows, to being able to tear your soul from your body through the dark pupil of your eye.

The Mandela Family

They say that nerves send direct shocks of feeling to the brain. This is true. But what if these nerves were given more than a shock to send? What if the very life force of your being was created and powered by the sun? In the Mandela family it is.
Not only can the blood relatives of this family bend and manipulate sunlight, they can boil the blood in your veins, set themselves off like a solar flair, leveling cities. The night brings plagues and nightmarish horrors, but they daylight gives them strength.
